Re: Rumour: Leaker Shares New Info About The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2

I’d like certain sections of the game to be a bit more linear while still retaining the sandbox approach to combat. Having to take the road in Zora’s Domain in BOTW is a good example of best of both worlds.

Would like to know what aspects of RDR2 they are being influenced by. Being able to shape the world through multi-part sidequest would be something they could try to implement more. Terry Town was a highlight because of that.

Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony are just fine.

Developers are smart and find ways to use the hardware in effective ways in due time. I’ll go with either PS5 or XBOX whatever based on whatever software is on the machines.

Nintendo has proven itself already with strength of the games available on the system. There will be a direct in the next several weeks and the games will be worth the wait.

@AlexOlney Hi Alex. Great review and am looking forward to playing it on the 20th.

Looks like people are already bombarding you with questions, but mine was concerning the flavor of the dialogue on offer. Were the conversations with the NPC townsfolk interesting? I don’t expect it to touch on the more adult themes of something like Stardew, I was just curious how much thought went into that aspect of the game.

@Wavey84 Spawnwave may have some silly things to say about the coronovirus. Not sure. But he seems to do some interesting videos every now and then.

RGT85 I haven’t watched in over a year because he just dredges up tired talking points on the internet and speeds through them at 100 mph., without an clever opinions or insight. It doesn’t surprise me he would say those things because he has just been leaching on other people’s info for a while.

Re: It Sounds Like E3 2020 Is Going To Be Cancelled

@ThanosReXXX Yeah I agree with you. It was fun following the event and Nintendo, Microsoft, and that PC games event can shed some light on stuff you’ve never heard of before. Microsoft will likely do the big stage show thing another time anyway, but I’ll miss the Nintendo Treehouse if they end up not having something like to replace it this year.

People complain about how boring the Ubisoft and Bethesda shows are, but how are they going to make memes without Todd Howard and that “Wooo, Yeah” guy? They are going to need to try harder this summer.

@Razer I mean it’s not as dire as you make it seem. Even if you don’t have a backlog there has been a very good port of Metro, Kentucky Route Zero (one of the groundbreaking games this decade), Two Point Hospital (if you like building sims), a good major RPG release with TMS, an okay port of the newest Samurai Shodown, bloody good fun with Bloodroots, the newest Darksiders spin-off, an above average port of DMC 3 that will eventually be 15 bucks in a Capcom sale...

Along with a new content rich AC game, The Outer Worlds, and an eventual release of Doom Eternal.

It’s leagues ahead on Switch compared to previous Nintendo consoles. I think at least.

Re: Please Konami, Stop Trolling Us And Release Castlevania: SotN On Switch Already

NotTelevision

Who knows what Konami is thinking... Every Metal Gear game except 5 and Survive are stuck on previous gen hardware. Same with the Silent Hill series.

They release Requiem for PS4 and nothing else, then do a really great job with Contra and Castlevania Anniversary Collections.

Now strangely SoTN appears on mobile phones before some weird mobile only Castlevania entry comes in 2020.

Hoping for some more support of their series across consoles, but you can never tell with this crazy company.

Re: Nintendo Named And Shamed As Benefiting From The Use Of Chinese Forced Labour Camps

NotTelevision

@Yorumi The workers who are part of unions aren’t radical socialist most of the time though. These are regular people that don’t want to be in conflict with the power structure and board of directors at their factories, but the system hasn’t given them any choice. Unless they just want to accept working in horrible conditions or just be replaced by machinery that will put them out of work.

Companies had a choice to stay in US and UK and continue manufacturing, but they chose China because of higher productivity and lower wages. That is ultimately what this system values most. Otherwise there would be seats on the board of directors for workers. Germany has such a system, but they had to fight long and hard for that.

Ironically people who union shame others are just advocating for all modern industrial countries to follow in China’s footsteps. Shouldn’t democracy be extended to various areas our life other than every 2-4 years in a voting booth? Worker’s right has manifested itself into perhaps a slightly simplified and crude form (the union), but at this point it’s the only option people have.

Re: Fire Emblem's Success Has Helped Intelligent Systems Grow In More Ways Than One

NotTelevision

@Ralek85 Fair ‘nuff, but I see Three Houses as a interesting evolution for the series. The problem may not be the added social aspects, but rather some of the cardboard character interactions and dialogue. I actually think the social systems interconnect well with the more traditional combat gameplay, but the monastery can be a little boring sometimes because the writing can be a bit bland and robotic. Also it takes a considerable amount of time for the intriguing aspects of the plot to get their hooks into you when that should’ve been there in the opening 2 hours. So yeah sometimes it seems like you are just interacting with spreadsheets and numbers with anime faces attached to them, instead of really feeling like you are developing emotional bonds with the story and characters.

But I still think it is one of the best Switch exclusives and took a risk with the formula that mostly paid off. Hopefully the next one they will step their writing game up a little more though.

Re: Sonic Movie Speeds Towards $65 Million In Its North American Opening Weekend

NotTelevision

If you include a female cast and include some directed social commentary then “nobody wants to see it” and “the movie has an agenda”.

Everything has has some agenda one way or another, even if the creators didn’t intend. All movies are inherently social because it is seen and consumed by a society which give it value. It doesn’t exist in a vacuum.

Anyway, good for the Sonic movie. Hope everyone enjoys themselves.

Re: Round Up: The Sonic Movie Reviews Are In, And They Don't Make For Pretty Reading

NotTelevision

To be fair it’s probably fine for a video game adaptation. That bar isn’t high, but it’s there anyway.

Movie critics are tasked with watching 50-100 movies per year and give their opinion. Of course it’s going to be mediocre compared to many of the films they watch, so that’s understandable.

It doesn’t look like something I need to go to a movie theatre to see, but I hope the families that check it out, enjoy it.

Re: Animal Crossing: New Horizons Might Contain In-Game Purchases

NotTelevision

I really hope it is DLC. I’d hate for Nintendo to include items and cosmetics as paid content. Microtransactions have no place in 60 dollar games, no matter who is making it.

I think we are getting a little ahead of ourselves by assuming that the above is the case though. Everyone should’ve known that DLC was coming for this game.

We’ll see what happens.
