The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Complete Edition has officially received its highly anticipated Version 3.6 update on Nintendo Switch, despite all of the confusion that's been circulating over the last day or so.
The update appears to have been steadily rolling out to users throughout the day (so don't worry if you still can't update your game just yet), and CD Projekt Red has now provided a full list of features that have arrived including new graphics settings and PC file integration. Here's the lowdown:
"Among the features introduced by Update 3.6 is save file integration with Steam and GOG, allowing gamers to continue their PC adventure on the go, as well as HUD, menu and Gwent touch control support.
Additionally, the update expands the range of available text language options for selected regions. More graphical settings can also be found in the options following the update, making it possible to customize visual fidelity."
Update 3.6 — list of changes:
- Added touch control support.
- Added save file integration with GOG, Steam and versions of the game for Switch from different regions.
- Added more text languages (in selected regions).
- Added more graphical options.
- Added multiple performance optimizations.
- Fixed various visual and functional bugs.
- Various gameplay and crash fixes.
While transferring saves from PC, please keep in mind:
- Mod-related bugs and blockers might get transferred from a modded PC game save file.
- If the save file name has been changed on PC, the Switch’s Cloud Save feature won't be able to recognize it.
Additional voice-over languages, added as free DLCs in selected regions, will follow later.
Will you be diving in to explore the new changes? Liking the idea of playing across Switch and PC? Let us know down below.

I have this for both switch and on steam. This is simply amazing. Now I'm going to play this way too much.
The love put into this is just amazing!
It looks fantastic and seems to still run well, I am sorely tempted to start it again!
The 'Sharpness' option is the big one for me. It makes a very noticeable difference to the graphics, even on low. I've been playing it for the last few hours and it seems to be running much smoother too. They've done a superb job.
@OorWullie Yeah, there's a reason Nintendo doesn't fool with anti-aliasing that much. The games can look fine without it and helps things look better when docked.
This should’ve been on the day one version but I guess better late than never.
Got it instantly when I saw the option to turn off AA. And that sweet Eshop discount was well timed.
That’s great news for the Switch. It really takes advantage of the platform.
What a superb update!! With the cross save function I can now switch between my pc and switch whenever I want! And the graphics look much sharper too, they did a fantastic job!! Thank you both Saber and CD Project RED!!!
@Kalmaro The 'sharpness' toggle is actually seperate from 'anti-aliasing'. I tried turning the AA off but didn't like it how it looked.
Wish I could dl it now. Nearly done with the game.
That's cool. I haven't played as much as I'd like, but it's a great game.
@Spoony_Tech time for another play through!
I've tried it occasionally on Steam but the cross platform saves really changes everything for a game of this size...
Seriously impressed with this port!
I have to say, I'm quite impressed that they even added touch support. I wish more games did the same, at least with menus.
So which of these new settings do I need to tweak so that playing in docked mode doesn't look like I've smeared vasalene on the lenses of my glasses?
@Spoony_Tech Looking at your playtime, you must have moved through the game at a far faster pace than I am. I've played over 80 hours and I'm only Level 15 and about to head to Skellige for the first time. I've been taking on nearly every side quest and exploring the question marks but I haven't been playing Gwent since the start of the game.Which I regret actually, as I just played a game there to complete a quest and it clicked with me.
@ZombieGavinS Turn sharpness up to High and you'll notice a huge improvement. The graphics seem to be improved across the board though so even with Sharpness set to off, the game looks and runs better than before.
@OorWullie It took me a good long while to get to Skellige as well. I had put in at least 10 to 15 hours just on qwent. Not sure what my game time shows there but my in game time says about 215 hours.
@OorWullie Really now? I stand corrected then.
Now I must ponder - why are cross-platform saves not available for more games?!
@Spoony_Tech It shows me that you've played it for 160 hours, so it's way off. What difficulty level are you playing on? I'm playing on Blood and Broken Bones and found it tough going for the first 40 hours or so, I died a lot so that explains my slow going. I'm handling it alright now though.
This cross-compatibility between PC and Switch kinda makes you think about the possibility of Nintendo games on PC...
If Nintendo made their own launcher for PC, where they could reap 100% of profit, it would be a cool option for people that want to play Nintendo games at max graphics, with cross saves across all games, etc.
Has there been a good comparison shot or two to show pre and post patch improvements
Or wait till digital foundry
Killer feature. There.
Wish this worked with the ps4 version
Are there gyro controls in this update? That's all I was hoping for.
Still looks like a lot went into it, very impressive!
Oooh, i might get this now
@Folderoll This release was far better then BloodStained. So not sure what your referring to but I had no issue playing the game.
@DFaceG_Rebooted Now I must ponder - why are cross-platform saves not available for more games?!
Cheating or Hacking any more guesses.

Not the best comparison, but it's showing the difference between AA on/off/additional sharpness.
@SwitchForce Eh?
@TechaNinja Here's some comparison shots I made of the same scene, around the same time of day. Sharpness is set to high in each of the post patch screenshots.
@OorWullie Does Geralt no longer have long hair after the patch??
You kids have good eyes. I can't perceive a difference in those pictures. Maybe it looks different in motion. I'll enjoy the cloud save integration; kinda wish it went across the console versions too, but that's something for update 4.0.
Once again these developers are showing the industry how it's done. "Like Skyrim, but with charm and style!"
It's a shame it's not cross save with ps4 as I'd buy it instantly if it was. I love the witched and would love to be able to play it in handheld but I'd much rather play it on the pro when connected to my 4ktv. I just couldn't be doubling up on the gameplay tho.
@LucantoVerdi It was one of the sacrifices that had to be made unfortunately. The Switch seemingly can't handle long hair and sharp graphics
Nah truthfully, I was in Novigrad after the patch arrived and nipped into the barber for an Elf cut and a beard removal.
@Digitamamon64 me too! Not for nothing though, also have it on the Xbox One X.
That is great for the Cross save feature and I will see myself using this alot when I start a fresh save file again.
This is awesome! Now I have to get the game for my Switch as well. (Already have it in my PS4)
Could never choose between PC and Switch for this. Guess I'll probably get it for both when it's on sale. That's really cool.
Finally, there's cross saves support for this very much obliged Saber Interactive.
@JudgeMethos
You can never have too many copies of The Witcher 3.
@Belatarr Nightmare. What about your other save slots? You should have 3 checkpoint saves and an extra Autosave slot.
Can anyone in Australia confirm whether or not the update is live for them?
I have a physical version, have tried a manual update and it says I'm "using the latest version of this software" at 3.4.
@OorWullie I'm on the same difficulty but only turn it there after about 19 levels. I was getting to the point of beating enemies 7 to 8 levels higher then me. Once you get up to the 40's though even that difficulty gets hard with certain enemies.
@Belatarr I get that all the time. If you manual save too close to an auto save you have to load the manual save. I've literally been getting those errors for the last 150 hours or so.
What an improvement! I set sharpness to high and AA off, left the rest as it was and it looks so much better. So much more detail! Love it!
@MadCow74 have you tried with just one or the other? Curious about if having both turned on makes the jaggies too bad
Cross Save with PC. This is what I am talking about.
This is why GeForce NOW is so amazing. I can play Ace Combat 7 on the GO and then keep where I left off on my PC when home. With zero compromise.
Everything should have Cross Save. This is great news
So the patch is not out yet in the EU?
@Coach_A Yes I did, the sharpness to high and AA on is already a good improvement. Turning AA off makes it for me even better detail wise, but there are jaggies. It doesn't bother me but it may bother others. I much prefer the extra detail.
@raven89 I'm from The Netherlands and here it has been released.
Been trying all day in the UK and it's still not showing as available for me when manually updating
@darksquall Ah ok, thought there was something wrong.
@darksquall I'm in Australia and having the same situation. Hoping it's resolved when I finish work
@Denoloco ah, you’re one of those guys. Tell me which job you have so I can moan about how slow you are at it.
Well done Saber. Way to top off a great port!
I’ve turned off motion blur, anti aliasing and set the sharpness to high. That made a great difference. The old blurry image was gone for a new sharper picture. Yes, it can look a bit pixelated here and there and it’s a question of taste at the end of the day, but personally I prefer seeing some more pixels than having too much blur.
@yuwarite Like MS does with XBOX on PC
Most of the XBOX community actually doesn't really like it.
I've never gotten around to playing this game but I've had it for awhile (gifted) Witcher 3 Wild Hunt on GoG.
How exactly does one carry over the save, is there a universal like login setup? Crying shame that Diablo 3 doesn't do that as I've got that one too (on both.)
@DFaceG_Rebooted I don't know either. I know I would have double dipped on several games if they had cross save support.
I was playing this earlier today and it suddenly crashed on me. When I started it up again it downloaded the update. Did the update cause my crash?
Because if so.. well it's fine because it had just autosaved but still.. kind of annoying...
@sanderev That's fanboys for you. But the reality is, Microsoft are happier expanding their audience/ profits.
@Coach_A I'm in Aus. The update just went live.
@C-Chakra awesome! Thanks for the heads up
Welp, guess I'm adding this game on my watch list now. One of the main reasons I hadn't gotten it yet was because I already had it on PC, but now that I can play the same playthroughs on both PC and Switch, that reason is now effectively non-existent.
@nab1 - Agreed; being able to carry your saves over to Switch ports makes those ports much more enticing then they would be otherwise.
Now, if they enabled this file syncing with either PS4 or XBone...
@Coach_A was finally available to download this morning.
They really have done a great job with this. Really looking forward to playing the DLCs as soon as I'm done with Astral Chain
Just started this on Switch, like two days ago, so perfect timing i guess
