@DinnerAndWine A lot of your concerns regarding censorship are a bit silly to me. If your worried about a little blood splatter deleted from your live service title to make it more palatable for all ages then alright, but those games are already the most “focused tested” and diluted games on the corporate level as it is. Tencent just wouldn’t throw money behind mature and boundary pushing games, because a lot of those lack mass market appeal and can’t be turned into e-sports.

There is really not much to be worried about here. Business as usual.

@nessisonett I don’t think some notice the double standard they are applying here. It’s just the “Huawei can’t do it, but Apple and Microsoft can” kind of attitude that so much of the media has been propagating.

Granted, if Tencent are just going to be pushing microtransaction filled live services I won’t be on board. They hardly hold the monopoly on those right now. If anything they are just mimicking “the best” in the industry (western companies) in that regard.

@mist Yeah but if they are rating it a 0, then they are making a mockery of the whole 0-10 system. Very few games deserve a 1. Even “Spirit of Speed 1937” is a 3 in my book.

It would be cool to play the Dirt games by Codemasters on the Switch. WRC games are relatively minor compared to some of the better racing series out there.

I’d like to see the old games on Switch. But if it is a new Mystical Ninja game, ummm it’s going to be great. What can possibly go wrong?🙃

This is cool. If Nintendo were able to reach out and market the thing it could’ve been really successful. Then you’d have a separate line of Diablo-lite games for the GBA and DS.

@The7thHokage1995 You realize though when you say “Man=Woman” you are ignoring all the codified social, psychological, and political elements within the realm of sexuality. As much as I’d like to “return to the garden” theorically as well, there is no “pure” understanding outside of history and the power dynamics at play when discussing sexuality any longer. It’s too engrained in other institutions and traditions.

Japan wins this round. Kazooie looks pretty upset on the European box. Of course changing the title to “Tooie”, effectively cutting her name out of it, led to tensions on the set. To quote her in an interview: “It really is a bear’s world”.

@MegaVel91 Indeed they do. I keep forgetting that fairly well-known fact. I didn’t even know about an AR Harry Potter game until now. Guess it didn’t make too much of a splash.

I doubt Game Freak is in too much of a rut. Pokémon GO is making billions every year and Sword and Shield is also going to make bank.

That being said, the fools leaving the angry Yelp reviews for the Pizzaria they haven’t ate at, should probably put a sock in it. Sure the pizza won’t rock your world and maybe it doesn’t have all the toppings you are used to, but it’s good anyway and let people enjoy their pie who want it.

Played the first one and didn’t really find it very scary. The gameplay is bland as well. Close this door, don’t close that one... not a very compelling set of interactions.

@nessisonett Yeah tedium is fine as long as I’m enjoying the environment and atmosphere of the game. There is a certain satisfaction to games that introduce mechanics to make you feel like you are proficient in operating a peculiar type of machine. I get what you are saying there.

I could go either way with Death Stranding, since I did “bounce off” a lot of what Kojima was going for in MGSV. I’ll just have to see.

@nessisonett Hearing pretty lofty things about DS has me curious enough to purchase it. I can’t not check it out at this point. Getting it next week.

I had all the Nintendo home consoles except for the WiiU. Still have GB and GBA but never owned a DS. Those DS numbers are pretty staggering.

Yeah I had to vote NA. Though the Japanese one would look good as a poster on your wall.

I’m going to try to finish Astral Chain this week and get Persona 5 squared away over the next two weeks. I don’t want to have a backlog when some of the big releases drop in November.

It’s a Pokémonth, so I’m debating getting that one. Children of Morta also sounds pretty interesting.

Disney TSUM TSUM is probably going to be the GOTY though. Let’s just hope for some shuffleboard and Arkanoid style motion games. That would melt this heart of ice.

Is everyone really that hungry for another online “hero” shooter? When it goes on to perform “below expectations”, I’m sure it will have nothing to do with this industry cannibalizing itself.

@bluenile101 I like the Switch E-shop because it is the equivalent of buying games under harsh hospital room lighting. All they need is Dr. Mario there pushing pill shaped “sales and deals” at you.

It’s only 19.99 a year, but they still need to do something on a monthly basis. I’d agree dropping 20 SNES games was nice in September but nothing happened in October. Why?

It will be really disappointing for subscribers to go the whole of November with nothing new as well.

Watching some horror movies. Probably get some Nuclear Throne action on Switch and get a little further in P5 on PS4.

I read the “10 fastest streetcars” at first and thought it was an Oklahoma City trolley racer. That would be quite a game.

@nessisonett Also didn’t like MM as a kid, but loved OoT. I went back and gave it a shot later and found some of the best 3D dungeon design in the whole series, so I’d recommend that one.

For me, I’ve never played any of the Yakuza games. They look fun but there are so many of them. Don’t know which one to get.

I want to play this game, but I don’t think my Bachelor’s degree is going to cut it.

I’m actually not a fan of these mid-gen hardware refresh consoles. The Switch Lite was justified since it actually improved the portability of the console and came in at a lower price point.

Half steps like 20% better performance for 50 or 100 more bucks, just won’t convince that many to jump on board. The PS4 Pro is twice as powerful as the base model, and even that is a hard sell if you don’t have a 4K TV.

@hoopderscotch I hope they reached their sales target with that game. Even though early demos were lacking, it’s clear they cared and poured their heart into the game.

Haha. An editor from PushSquare reviews this game, gives it a 9, and people are still accusing NL of a giving it a lower score because it isn’t a 1st party Nintendo exclusive. Don’t know what to say about that...

@Mr_Muscle I got the base game digitally for 15 a while back, but the Complete Edition is 50 bucks now on PS4.

I want to try the game again, so the price of 50-60 seems fair, since it seems they put a lot of work into it.

@WhiteTrashGuy Yeah you’re right. At first I was thinking it was Dracula, but then I remembered Alucard. This was before they gave him the more Anne Rice/Anime redesign we associate with him from Symphony onward.

Japan but with reservations. Both Trevor and Dracula look a bit off. Prince of Darkness? More like a failed opera singer with a bad nose job.

The Castlevania 1 box art really nailed it.

@KoekiieWoekiie Yeah I didn’t say it would be ideal, and I don’t think every developer should feel the need to cram their game on Switch. I’m only saying how the barometer of what is possible on the system seem to keep being pushed further every year.

Would I play Cyberpunk on the Switch? Well, I’m double-dipping on Witcher 3 even with the decreased resolution.

The Outer Worlds is an open world, graphically intensive game, that is coming out around the same time on Switch as the other consoles.

If the market is there for people who want these games handheld, who’s to say it isn’t possible? They are already going to need to work pretty hard to get Cyberpunk to run on Xbox One S. Why not Switch?

@nessisonett Yeah this game looks like a graphical beast, that’s for sure. It will be really interesting to see how The Outer Worlds is on Switch. If that can run well and they make it a manageable file size, I’d say anything is possible.

I’ll give Ubisoft a little bit of credit here. At least it seems like they are listening to some of their customers.

Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth was pretty good, but I haven’t heard much positive about this one. The Sinking City looks worthwhile once it gets to the 15-20 dollar range.

I love Error. Just that one line alone makes him one of the best Zelda NPCs.

So will the games be available for download separately for 20 bucks a piece. I would get Black Flag again on a sale but I have no interest in Rogue.

I’m surprised it isn’t more Tom Clancy adaptations, given how they milked his name for all it’s worth.

TV series based on the universes of FarCry and Watchdogs sounds awful. The appeal of those games is the sandbox, not the cliche narratives.

@Toy_Link Yeah I noticed that as well. I was referring to Cuphead and Mugman shooting lasers out of their fingertips, not these characters who appear to be wizards or magicians.

My point is that it just isn’t funny to fire projectiles at enemies for extended periods. The best cartoons are engineered front to back, to be funny and unpredictable. Run n’ gun gameplay doesn’t lend itself well to that.

Yeah it looks like a kind of bland version of Cuphead. Too bad since I’ve realized I loved the art style of Cuphead more than the gameplay. It didn’t have enough unique and funny interactions for a game based on 1930s cartoons. It ultimately doesn’t match the beauty and creativity of its inspiration, since I don’t know of an cartoon character that shoots lasers for extended periods out their fingertips. Same with these magicians in this game.

It looks pretty accurate (except for the coke bottle). I don’t understand why they didn’t include turtle rock though. Is that only visible in the dark world? I forgot.

I’ll pick up Grid eventually, as that one looks really great.

I didn’t get a chance to play Creature in the Well, but it looks interesting at least.

I really enjoyed Blasphemous and put it up there with the best games of the year.

I can see it a little bit here and there. Definitely get a sense of the uncanny with a lot of the games.

Maybe in BOTW 2 Link will be able to cook a cherry pie that “will kill ya”.
