@Gex91 awesome picture. Side note for anyone unaware, all 3ds VC games also include scanlines as default. Amazing how the VC games on 3ds have been better than Wii U VC, at least NES one's in particular.
@LowlyPeasant you certainly put alot of effort into thar response so I won't argue with you. I've just always seen the Zelda games for what they are on the surface. Having grown up with the originals I saw the Zelda franchise differently until OoT was released. From my point of view they don't seem canon however, I understand the timeline you explained and I won't deny that those events do fit however I couldn't help but feel Zelda 2 would have fallen early in the timeline since the Zelda in that game was depicted as the real princess Zelda who had been put to sleep and sealed in a chamber although I understand it could be worked into the timeline.
@mjc0961 No,no,no I'm quite certain that timeline was developed after fans kept asking about it. I remember Shigeru Miyamoto even said before that there is no timeline for the Zelda games. This is just an example of the developers trying to please all of their fans because oddly enough some were rather upset about the whole thing and kept nagging on for an official timeline. Lol. It all comes down to whatever makes you happy whether that be the magic sword, master sword, four sword, silver arrow or light arrow. I actually enjoy the diiferent takes on the Zelda universe and feel no need to connect all the stories together.
@LowlyPeasant I've looked at it, of course. The story for the first game(instruction booklet) specifically states that Ganon and his legion of monsters invades Hyrule and steals the triforce of power. So it's obviously unrelated to orcarina of time. Besides, what does Hyrule change form every other generation? Lol, sometimes death mountain is in the east and sometimes in the west? What about the four swords stories?
@LowlyPeasant You can't change the fact that the original two stories have a completely different take on the triforce and even Zelda. Ganon was utterly destroyed and there was no void that he was sealed into. The premise of Zelda 2 was that by killing Link and using his blood the monsters could revive Ganon(also Ganon was always a monster, not a human with the triforce of power). Besides that Link had to find the triforce of courage that the king of Hyrule had hidden? Wasn't that supposed to be in Links hand? But instead the mark on Links hand was nothing more than a sign.
@kenrulei sigh....believe what you want but as soon as OOT was released on the N64 it was clear to those who played the originals that the stories were non canon. The triforce of courage wasn't even present in the story until Zelda 2.
@mjc0961 Well I guess your systems bugged or something because I experience no lag and couldn't spot the frame drops I heard about, and I gave it a good try too.
Why can't people just accept Zelda is non canon unless specified in game? Just read the first two Zelda stories. Aside from that, what about A Link to the Past and A Link Between Worlds? Parallel dimensions?
Awesome remaster. I was kinda surprised when I heard about frame drops in Faron Woods. Oddly enough, I found myself trying to notice this in game but had a hard time seeing any difference. It's been a smooth and well polished game so far.
Came away really happy with this direct. Glad to see Starfox is taking a resemblance to the N64 version with added goodness. I'm assuming that Zelda U is being withheld for E3 when it will be discussed along with NX as a multi system release.
Looking forward to it though I think E3 is going to be more interesting. I'm actually more curious to see if M$ and Sony will be releasing upgraded consoles to compete with NX. M$ has practically said they will release an upgrade at some point and Sony says they can consider it.
@Order2Chaos I couldn't agree more. It seems fairly likely there's going to be at least one franchise with a large known install base that will support VR and try to pull in buyers.
Well, I myself would rather see a new Pilotwings over a new Mario Tennis or Animal Crossing. I understand Nintendo will deliver the more profitible franchises though. Too bad, I always considered Pilotwings one of the main franchises.
Yep. I saw a video about using the N64 on a Sony Trinitron CRT with an RGB mod and picture quality is by far the biggest problem due to the anti-aliasing filter used on all the games. Besides, why can't these people start business the way people are supposed to. You start small and build with quality and success, not ask for a bunch of money and do what you can.
Huh...I just jab my thumbnail into the nub and use it that way, no sweat(litterally). I couldn't tell from the video but does his 3DS close all the way now? I wouldn't want my screen pressing against that PSP nub when the unit is in my pocket.
Can't analyze something that we know nothing about. Is it a system, is it a handheld, is it both combined? Lol, what if the NX was an add on for the Wii U, how nuts would that be? Then again, it would explain the lack of a cd drive, but I'm not really sure if connecting an add on through a USB cord is feasible. On top of that I'm sure many people would think Nintendo was shooting themselves in the foot doing an add on.
Picking it up when I revisit this game. Just not sure when that will be. It's too bad Nintendo doesn't take the VC a little more seriously. I'd be using the money to download VC games instead of buying a soldering station and upgrading my NES. I do enjoy the SNES VC though, they have done a good job with it minus a few games like Illusion of Gaia and updating Wii to Wii U SNES VC.
I like the gamepad.....for VC games. I'd rather play a new Star Fox on one screen, a big one preferably. I just don't use the gamepad screen for anything except games meant to be displayed at a lower resolution, with the exception of doing ghost ship runs on RE Revelations.
Battletoads always was a great series of games. It's too bad now M$ owns the rights and apparently the original art designers aren't at the helm. Saw the new design for the characters on the Rare Replay box art and all I will say is they should have just stuck with the original character art.
Oh come on guys, the first two Zelda games aren't even related story wise. The whole story of the Triforce and Ganon are completely different and Link doesn't even use the Triforce of Courage in the first Zelda game, he reassembles the Triforce of Wisdom.
By all means the second Zelda game explains why the title is refered to as "The Legend of Zelda".
Well that's a relief. Looks like I'll be able to get the one thing I really want without buying a new amiibo. Free arrows! Still I wouldn't mind seeing costume swapping abilities with the next Zelda game.
@rjejr That would be great. Might be spendy but the new chips coming out later this year are supposed to be alot more power efficient and just as powerful as the current chips yet only a fraction of the size. Which I guess means the new chips that are built to be the same size as current chips are going to be even more powerful.
1. 60fps 2. Even better VC 3. No shortage of supplies like being sold out and having only option to get on Gamestop waiting list to buy $600 bundle with too many contollers and games you will never play.
I'm going to have to wait. Problem is I would only preorder through Amazon and last I checked it wasn't available for preorder. Opted for notification when it becomes available but still haven't been notified. Main reason I want the amiibo is it's supposed to have compatability with this and Zelda Wii U. I wouldn't mind being able to use costumes from this game on the newer one.
I'm not paying an arm and a leg though if Nintendo decides there will be a shortage of amiibos or special editions. It's gotten to the point that any drive I've had to collect these amiibos is gone because of the "scavanger hunt" or the "scalpers market".
Tacky. But I guess this series was aimed at very young kids so they're not going to feel the same way. It's too bad the Sonic series didn't evolve to reach it's true potential. But if they had to restart the whole thing, for the sake of all that is good, let the Japanese handle it!
@Elvie Lol! I hear ya, I was a little curious about it as well. It's supposed to be a reboot I think but we've heard more about the gameplay than anything else at this point.
@msvt Hopefully Nintendo has taken that into consideration with their next platform and the new Nintendo network. The network is supposed to be more unified so maybe Mario Maker will come along for the ride. It would be more of a certain thing for sure if we knew the NX is going to be backwards compatible.
You know, in a way Rob the robot was Nintendo's first amiibo. Kinda, I suppose. I mean, you could play the two games made for Rob without him but it just wasn't the same experience. Yeah....eh.....maybe? Ah, ok never mind...
All in all, the art design is looking great on the handheld. They did well making the most out of a 3DS game engine. I'm certain this will deliver just as much as the console version. It's gonna be sweet!!
@Xenocity That's all vey interesting. Just a side note, that Metriod bonus disc with the Prime 2 demo and timeline was also released as part of a system bundle that included Metriod Prime. I know cause that's how I got mine.
Unlocking features with amiibo is great as long as there are absolutely no shortages of said amiibo. I absolutely refuse to pay higher than the asking price for something that should be readily available. I think I picked up Link for Hyrule Warriors for around $10 and honestly, as much as I like Nintendo characters, I still won't pay much more than that. $15 at the most and that's only if it were a very significant character used for great features across multiple games.
Fans probably won't like me for saying this but I didn't really care about getting this. I'd rather have a different title that I don't already have, preferably a console VC game and not a portable.
I liked the old trend of Mario sequels. The gameplay from SMB3 to SMW was fantastic. They added Yoshi, the visuals were improved and given a fresh look and the flying mechanic with the cape was a great feature.
I'd go for another Mario Galaxy, but more than anything else I'd like to see Nintendo to what they used to do with Mario and make another fresh title that has new gameplay mechanics.
