I still watch E3, but mostly to see how many consecutive years Microsoft can make a fool of themselves. So far it's 3, and I highly suspect this will be 4. Their continued push into becoming a 3rd party service provider/publisher, insulting their fans outright, pushing more anti-consumer services, bringing less value to the brand than ever before by completely forgoing exclusives, encouraging cross-gen, and not even supporting the next gen is just too much to not laugh at.
If you're still an Xbox fan after this generation, I really have to ask why? Because as a gamer, they've done nothing but repeatedly slap their ding dong on your face and if you can't see that, with as obvious as it is, then wow.
@Agramonte In this entire generation I've never once ever heard anyone other than you say that about the PS4. It's far and away well known the PS4 (like the Switch) is for a gamer of refined tastes. What you described was the Xbox One, as it's commonly known to cater to pew pew crowd of lower intelligence.
@teamdave2002 Surely you jest. Firstly, it wasn't ported, otherwise it would have launched on Wii U two years prior to Switch. They moved development over to Switch, then scaled it to release on Wii U simultaneously. Secondly, it's far and away considered one of the best, if not the best, Zelda title, and its astronomical sales (especially when compared to previous entries) help to bring that point home. Now of course I don't ever equate sales to quality, after all the number one selling game ever is also one of the worst games ever made by a completely inept developer (GTAV/R*). What I'm saying is, had the sales been more aligned with previous entries we could pick apart the game but not when it breaks all records after 30+ years of modest cultural popularity.
Jorgensen. He also stated he didn't want to bring games to Switch because he didn't want to "compete with Nintendo's first party software". If you're that worried your games won't sell then it's not someone else's quality you should be concerned with, it's your own. Plus with how anti-developer Frostbite is the gaming community shouldn't support any games made with it. That's the entire reason for Bioware's downfall, something only EA could have accomplished.
@RupeeClock You mean, Microsoft needed the additional PR to make themselves look better than the failures they have become? Nintendo doesn't need MS and the notion that MS "giving" them (because they didn't, they were all from 3rd parties or were already multiplatform) games doesn't mean the two companies are playing nice.
As for Bayonetta, exclusives are the reason to buy a console so letting that go (Bayonetta 3 at the very least) would be bad business for Nintendo. Letting the first two be rereleased would actually help Nintendo however, and poses no threat since they're older titles, much like how Horizon Zero Dawn went multiplatform after 4 years. Sony already got the benefits from it, now is a good time to pump interest in the sequel.
Let Bayo & Bayo 2 go, keep Bayo 3 exclusive. Good for business, good for competition, good for consumers.
I'm fine with that actually, what's not okay is there's no invert Y axis option. Why you wouldn't include, by default, the correct way to play is baffling, even more so that it's 2020 (2019 at launch).
@NinjaSyao I used to be that way, but honestly none of those are a good reason to hang on to a dying format. You can easily scroll through your library on the console, I personally would never loan a game to a friend anyway, and if I bought the game why on Earth would I want to trade it in? If it isn't good enough to keep, it wasn't good enough to play, and somewhere I made a bad decision. Being 34 and having played all my life, I never buy a bad game and know instantly just by looking at a preview of the game is good or not.
Finally, I went all digital in September 2018, Spider-Man's launch date actually. I have two of every console and gameshare (the correct way) with the family. I was opposed to digital entirely before then but after switching I honestly cannot see any pro to physical ownership anymore. They simply don't exist In a rational sense, only an entitled, selfish one. Sorry if that leaves a sour taste and trust me, I have been the one to get this same message before and get angry, but it's true.
@CashMadness Well, to be fair, there isn't a good reason to subscribe to either Sony's nor Microsoft's online services either. Unfortunately we all lost the right to complain about this in 2002 and if anything, you should be praising Nintendo for not charging as much as the others charge you to access your own internet that you've already paid for 😉.
I love his constant reassuring to fans of their failures but the way he phrases it always makes it seem like he's successful. The fanboys eat up the failure as positivity and become delusional. Don't believe me? Go check out the Xbox One board on Gamefaqs. I've seen Facebook comments on gaming make more sense than those morons 😂.
In any case, MS doesn't see Nintendo and Sony as competition because they simply cannot compete. They're taking Xbox 3rd party, whereas Nintony are killing it in the 'traditional' realm, you know, what the gamers care about.
@Heavyarms55 Exclusivity is exceptionally good for consumers, a unique library is THE reason to own a console (not friends, graphics, controller, apps, etc) and that itself drives competition. As a gamer, you should never speak out against 1st and 2nd party exclusives (3rd party exclusives are a different, concerning matter).
Microsoft has been moving to becoming a 3rd party publisher since 2015; they stopped making exclusives, they introduced yet another subscription model to fool their consumers into a 'value', they stopped reporting numbers and changed focus to 'player count', they aren't launching the Series X with ANY exclusive content whatsoever, they're moving to a cloud format entirely... The very company many are praising for 'sharing' exclusives is only doing it to remain relevant because they are simply outmatched by the competition. Best case scenario? They extend Xbox Live to Sony and Nintendo and finish their 3rd party transition. The Series line will be their last hardware line.
Hell I just pledged. The game was amazing back then and I won't be taking the wrapping off this game once it comes in (I'll buy a separate, digital copy to gameshare with the family). All I need now is Pikmin 3, the Zelda remasters, and Mario 3D World, and I can finally put the Wii U out to pasture.
People really need to stop giving those bias attention. I've never seen something that's supposed to be so unbiased so fervently support a company, and be completely transparent about it.
In my opinion, they're doing NOTHING for gaming but fueling the wars, and not in a good way.
@JSDude1 so they should trade a successful, profitable new IP, an exclusive, for old multiplatform games where the best of them are far past their prime and the newer ones are garbage?
Regardless, exclusives are good for both the industry and consumers. A unique library is imperative to competition, not apps, not graphics, not crossplay... Exclusives. A company that gives up their exclusives (like MS) is in trouble.
Miyamoto stated that Hey! Pikmin was not Pikmin 4. The likelihood is that Pikmin 4 was scrapped for Wii U due to the timing of its intended arrival, and the impending death of the platform. Seeing as they most likely had a Switch launch schedule in planning, Pikmin 4 wouldn't have fit without stepping on another games toes. 2018 would have been a good year to release it, but I'd imagine they were rebuilding it from the ground up for Switch at this time, and my understanding is the Pikmin team is small. This series isn't a priority for Nintendo either, so progression is slow with new elements most likely being worked into the title.
Finally, I simply don't see it happening any other way, but I expect Pikmin and Pikmin 2 will both be remastered in Pikmin 3's engine, all with Joycon control options, and a trilogy will be released 6 months prior to the release and/or announcement of Pikmin 4. Why a trilogy? The games have a cult following, but have always been overshadowed by other software. I believe they'll make this a big event in an attempt to make this franchise much bigger than it is currently, and it definitely deserves it. To do it right though, they need the time, and they're taking that.
@Razer please please PLEASE, stop supporting that anti-consumer service. We as gamers failed in 2002 with Xbox Live, let's not fail again with Gamepass.
@dew12333 Which would be awful for consumers. Competition is a great thing and pivotal to the industry doing right by consumers. If all companies came together, it'd be bad for all of us. Same as if exclusives went away (or worse, faux exclusives like the Xbox camp) and tricked a bunch of consumers into thinking that was a good choice. Exclusives are THE reason to purchase a console, and the only reason. Xbox has absolutely zero value to a consumer with its smaller, limited library whereas Sony and Nintendo hold an extremely high value because of their stellar library. Why buy a Series X when Halo Infinite is on 3 different platforms? But you have to buy a Switch for BotW2 and a PS4 for TLoU2. Competition is good, exclusives are good, anyone who says otherwise wants this hobby to crash again.
Picked it up launch day, actually I had it pre-ordered months in advance. My most anticipated game of the year as well. Haven't played it yet. No invert y axis to play it correctly means I physically cannot play the game at all, and I cannot unlearn the natural way to play incorrectly without ruining all my enjoyment.
@JSDude1 Light on software? Are you speaking from personal opinion or are you not aware of the situation? Their software lineup prior to Summer is quite packed, they aren't light on anything and if the Presidents recent statements hold weight, they have many more surprises for the year. If anything I expect 2020 to vastly overtake 2019 in terms of profits and records being broken.
Anybody who has been a Nintendo fan has always known just how great and valuable the brand is, and while each generation since the big 3 has brought varying success, there's always been something the detractors loved bringing up. It's nice to finally be able to feel like the "Nintendoomed" bull is is over and they're finally getting the respect they deserve.
Just goes to show if the developers put the effort in, the sales will be there. Power is irrelevant and maybe now we can finally stop over glamorizing shiny pixels over great gameplay and narratives.
Someone who puts graphics in the top 5 isn't a gamer anyway...
@MasterJay They sure did because people for whatever reason are fascinated with being fleeced. Now some will try to argue they said this and then released the Lite... Except the Lite isn't an upgraded model. Nintendo specifically said they had no plans to release an upgraded model. Why people still believe one is coming is ridiculous. The Pro and X were absolutely not necessary and anti-consumer, a Pro model is not something you should support.
@NoTinderLife They have a plethora of new games in the works, and while we don't know exactly what they might be, they have already stated that the release schedule for this year isn't even half of what they've got. Remember they have separate teams/companies for most of their big franchises, there is always something new being worked on.
@BarefootBowser Microsoft doesn't make exclusive games, they stopped that in 2015. Every game they make is automatically on two platforms minimum, making every game they make multiplatform. Saying "console" or "Microsoft" before exclusive does nothing to change the facts that it's a multiplatform game.
@Mando44646 Gamepass isn't free, you're continually paying for the game. Trying to separate the service from the game means nothing, YOU'RE STILL PAYING. Imagine paying every month for a game you've already stopped playing, because that's Gamepass. Easily the most anti-consumer service introduced since Xbox Live by the worst company in gaming, Microsoft.
@Heavyarms55 Peer pressure is the only reason. Most people who own the game only own it because for whatever reason you can't be a gamer and dislike GTA no matter how factually sh*tty it is and how factually sh*tty Rockstar are as developers. If people actually played the damn game, and didn't let the cultural stigma pressure them, you wouldn't see it selling like that and you'd have far more people admitting just how bad it really is. There's not a single gamer who can say it's a good game.
@Xylnox There's absolutely zero reason to buy the Series X. We as gamers need to let Xbox die because they've done nothing but ruin this hobby since 2002.
Also, Nintendo owns the handheld market. Sega, Sony, Apple, and Google have all tried and failed. Microsoft even spoke out on even trying, basically saying what's the point? To be fair though they can't even support their own console they wouldn't be able to support two dying devices at the same time.
As for the topic at hand here, do people not learn about the console before/after they get it in their hands? You always do that before plugging it in to play for the first time. I noticed it when I took the screen protector off... Worthless products.
@Moroboshi876 As far as I'm aware, they only made 1 or 2 games that required the N3DS, and one of those was Xenoblade. As for the X1X, they haven't made a single game for it, they make every game for the 2013 model and allow the box to upscale it as it was designed to. There is no Xbox game, either first party or otherwise, that does it X first, older boxes second. Keep in mind the 2013 box will be sharing all titles for the next two years with Series X (as per Phil Spencer's interviews) so there's no point in upgrading the Xbox either.
As for the 'Switch Pro', Nintendo has long confirmed that there isn't one. Someone tried to claim they said the same thing about the Lite... No they didn't. They said no models to announce at this time. They have specifically stated there is no upgraded model (like the Pro/X) coming. Most likely there will be a revised model, as EVERY console gets one with little to no fanfare, but there won't be a Pro model. Nintendo is working on the successor, there's no need to split resources on a console that'll only be viable for a year or two.
As for the games themselves, I'll definitely be picking up AC but I'm admittedly not the biggest DOOM fan. I'm only just now playing DOOM 2016 to try and get excited for Eternal and it's just not inspiring. It's like playing CoD or Halo, pretty bland after the first mission or so.
@Aurumonado well, the whole game is on the cart. People who seem to think DLC is "cut content" clearly haven't opened their mind to how game development actually works. You got the whole game, as it was intended, with a beginning a middle and a climatic end. There's nothing missing from the game. DLC, or expansion for the old folks like myself, is a love letter from the developers to the fans who want more. Very few games, as in I can count on one hand, the amount of games that actually had content cut with the intention of selling it later.
Sorry, anyone who uses the term "OG" immediately loses respect from me.
As for a "Pro" model, I don't want it. Nintendo should release the next console with full BC that takes everything good about the Switch and fixes everything that wasn't as good because let's be honest, there simply isn't anything bad about the console. Power/specs mean absolutely nothing to gamers, only hobbyists. The games are great and the sales are only proving that's what matters and not the power.
Tired? Not at all, mostly because despite owning it since launch day I can't play it and NextLevelGames is ignoring its fans asking them to patch in the invert Y axis option, or you know, the correct way to play by nature's own design. How in (then) 2019 this wasn't included is baffling.
@HardcoreDaBoss It's still so funny when you see people actually believing this kind of garbage. The reason ports come late is because they all ask the same question, "can this sell on a Nintendo?", because most people incorrectly correlate Nintendo with 'kiddy'. The ONLY reason this port is coming is because Exodus vastly underperformed (the entire series is mediocre at best) and they need a bump to support their next project. Many developers of come out and said it's been surprisingly easy to port to the Switch, what takes them a bit longer is usually compression and removing particle effects.
With the Switch outperforming the Xbox, it's a no-brainer to put this collection on it. Why didn't it happen earlier? Simple, they didn't think there was a market. The specs have literally never mattered, developers look at sales potential, not how pretty they can make the game.
As if every game isn't a cut/paste project based on previous inspirations. This has been the structure for game design since its inception. Can companies get a little too close to other titles? Of course, but if you started thinking about what other games are heavily inspired/copied you'd name nearly the entire AAA catalog of the last several years without hesitating, and nobody bats an eye at that. The Outer Worlds/modern Fallout, Jedi Fallen Order/Dark Souls, Darksiders 3/Dark Souls, ANY military fps game/ANY military fps game... Game design is surprisingly limited when it comes to basic structure, so when something works, people throw their ideas into it and form their own world's.
Slight issue, or rather major issue actually, with Luigi's Mansion 3.... Nobody in my family can play it because we all use the proper, inverted Y axis. It's been nothing but a $60 paperweight since release! In 2019, you surely didn't expect a game to release without the one scientifically proper method of play. Reaching out to the devs has yielded nothing as well, they're too busy hiring for another project when they haven't even finished this one.
@LUIGITORNADO Don't understand your train of thought here. As most people would assume, they wouldn't care, however a fan knows if a game of this caliber goes multiplat it reduces the allure of the original. This is why Xbox has been in the gutter for years with absolutely no exclusives since 2015.
If a fan gets upset over losing exclusivity, it's usually for a good reason that most people are too unintelligent to understand. Keep that in mind next time you want to rip on a fanbase. Exclusives are good for both the industry and consumers, never let Microsoft fool you.
OG? This isn't the early 90's and even teens these days don't say that nonsense. The only ones who do are the delusional Xbox fanboys so please, stop embarrassing yourself and everyone around you by saying OG.

Sign the petition to invert the Y axis so the game isn't a $60 paperweight.
Re: 37% Of Developers "Interested" In Making Games For Switch, According To Annual GDC Industry Survey

Re: Rumoured Switch Pro Might Not Actually Use Nvidia's Tegra X1+ Chip
Re: DOOM Eternal's Creative Director Discusses Launching On The Same Day As Animal Crossing
March 20th, 2020...
Re: Talking Point: Would You Like Miiverse To Return On Switch?
It was rather pointless, like PlayStation Home. Give the gamers, games, and the social media people another mobile app. Keep the two separate.
Re: Panic Button Needs Time To Refine DOOM Eternal On Switch, id Software Says It Won't Be A "Huge" Delay
A good game is a good game, power is irrelevant. Gamers will agree, hobbyists will argue.
Re: This Untitled Goose Game LEGO Set Could Be Yours, But You'll Have To Vote For It
Here's hoping enough people vote no on this garbage.
Re: Pokémon Sword And Shield Dethrones Diamond & Pearl In New Famitsu Sales Chart Record
Re: Poll: What Features Would You Want In A Switch 'Pro'?
Sorry, anyone who uses the term "OG" immediately loses respect from me.
As for a "Pro" model, I don't want it. Nintendo should release the next console with full BC that takes everything good about the Switch and fixes everything that wasn't as good because let's be honest, there simply isn't anything bad about the console. Power/specs mean absolutely nothing to gamers, only hobbyists. The games are great and the sales are only proving that's what matters and not the power.
Re: Tired Of Luigi's Mansion 3's Boss Fights? This Glitch Lets You Skip One
Tired? Not at all, mostly because despite owning it since launch day I can't play it and NextLevelGames is ignoring its fans asking them to patch in the invert Y axis option, or you know, the correct way to play by nature's own design. How in (then) 2019 this wasn't included is baffling.
Re: Metro Redux Has Just Been Officially Confirmed For Switch
Re: Video: Comparing Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Clone Genshin Impact To The Original
Re: Japanese Charts: Nintendo Is Still Killing It, Takes All Top Ten Positions
All that controversy was exactly as I expected it to be; a very few number of crybabies. They're part of every Pokémon launch though. Sw/Sh aren't perfect, in fact each Pokémon game has something undesirable about it, but it's still a damn good Pokémon game and it's great to see this beat the likes of CoD, GTA, RDR, or Destiny any day.
Re: Feature: Nintendo Switch Ports We'd Love To See In 2020
Metroid Prime Trilogy is the only one of the list worth mentioning. Should add Pikmin 3 because the world needs so much more of that.
Re: Feature: Best Nintendo Switch Family Games
Slight issue, or rather major issue actually, with Luigi's Mansion 3.... Nobody in my family can play it because we all use the proper, inverted Y axis. It's been nothing but a $60 paperweight since release! In 2019, you surely didn't expect a game to release without the one scientifically proper method of play. Reaching out to the devs has yielded nothing as well, they're too busy hiring for another project when they haven't even finished this one.
Re: Poll: What To Expect From The Pokémon Direct - Post Your Pokémon Predictions
Pokémon Snap was one of the worst games to ever be made, why would you want a sequel? Here's hoping we're never graced with that level of garbage again.
Re: Feature: Game Of The Decade Staff Picks - Dark Souls
But.... You've still got one more year to go for the decade. It isn't over yet.
Re: Astral Chain Director Says Nintendo Switch Exclusive "Sold Above Expectations"
Re: Rumour: The Pokémon Direct Will Share "New Details" About Sword And Shield
@TeslaChippie I put in 60 hours by the time I had beaten the game, filled the Dex, and bred my next team for my 2nd playthrough. The internet crybabies are definitely low in number as this game is performing quite well and honestly, one of the better Pokémon titles in recent years. Yes they have their shortcomings but they're still good games, these people are just mad it's selling well.
Re: Devil May Cry 3 Team Teases "A Little Something Extra" For Switch Players
@Kalmaro anybody who believes this cannot be well educated.
Also, this is one of the worst trilogies to ever come out.
Re: Japanese Charts: Pokémon Sword And Shield Still Dominate As Switch Takes Nine Of Top Ten
OG? This isn't the early 90's and even teens these days don't say that nonsense. The only ones who do are the delusional Xbox fanboys so please, stop embarrassing yourself and everyone around you by saying OG.
