Re: Nintendo Is A Slave To Its Past Success, Says Gearbox President Randy Pitchford

I can't completely disagree but I sometimes think its their insistence on making the visuals of their games appeal to kids that are too young to play their games that holds them back. By the time a child has any say over what presents it gets they will probably think most Nintendo games are too young for them.

I think every time they tried to be bold their
fans deserted them and bought the Mario branded filler instead but I also think they're stifling the creativity of their own dev teams by having them make things like Wii Party U.

To be perfectly honest though, I'm not sure why any of this 'terrible e3' is headline worthy. Almost straight after launch they admitted 3DS 'would be their main profit driver' which basically meant Wii U was getting scraps. They even slashed their targets down to a level that made it clear they don't expect many more sales.

I've had no issues with connecting at all. The longest I've had to wait for a game is about one round of Squid Jump.

My only gripes are the lack of content and lack of changing loadout mid game. I also need a new gamepad battery and charger. I'd like to see 8 vs 8 because sometimes the maps seem a bit empty.

I don't fully understand why they couldn't get a couple of overly simplistic arenas as filler for launch but what there is, is fun.

Re: Editorial: Nintendo's Problems With Trends and Modern Media Continue to Damage Its Image

I think a bigger problem is that Sony have the gaming media in their pocket and Nintendo have gone from having the best marketing they've ever had to the worst in about 3 years. At the moment, Nintendo could try to sell the Holodeck from Star Trek for £99 with the best versions of every popular game and people would still be turned off by it.

These things go in cycles so I expect all this to change in the next couple of generations. We should stop talking about it and start playing

Re: Poll: Would You Like Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros. DLC to Expand for a Whole Generation?

I find the way they do everything to be completely backwards. MKW sold 30M+ units and the reward for fans was a sequel with slightly less content than MKW. Brawl sold less well than MKW and SSBU seems to be bigger than Brawl.

By now we should have every retro track available (preferably for free) and 32 new tracks before DLC gets a look in. Hopefully MKNX finally gives us the ultimate Mario Kart game.

I'm not complaining though, MK8 is excellent and the DLC is the best value you could hope for.
