Re: Guide: Getting Started With Xenoblade Chronicles X on Wii U

Nintenjoe64

What a traumatic day:
1. Had to work when game was being delivered
2. Was told by housemate that game had not arrived (they even checked outside)
3. Sent a snotty email to GAME
4. Came home to find game on doorstep
5. Realised Wii U is at friend's house
6. Sent apology to GAME

I reckon I will be started by 10pm. This guide nearly blew my head up so not sure how my fragile mind will take the game!

Re: EA CFO Explains Why the Company Doesn't Make Wii U Games Anymore

A lot of you are calling EA liars for thinking the market for EA is too small on Wii U while also claiming that you don't want EA's games. People not wanting EA's games proves EA's point.

I dislike the majority of what EA is about but their games aren't terrible, they did support the Wii and their games will determine the success of NX. Most people don't want to buy a console without any chance of a football game being released for it.

I don't care if the console I own is popular but unpopular consoles get bad support from both 1st and 3rd parties. My hope for NX is that Nintendo have realised people want real games and not mini game collections.

@Dakt I agree with your points but I think ac3 had DLC from start. It also didn't help when reviews complained about empty servers before launch.

@Xenocity I'm sure EA just want to sell games on whatever console. One of the worst things that could happen to EA's bottom line is having a software company with as much money as them competing with them on every platform instead of just one.

I also think a mature / dark shooter would fail to sell a Nintendo console unless Nintendo made and marketed it properly.

I don't think Nintendo need 3rd party and good timing if they have perfect marketing and launch games that blow people's minds.... Probably best to try all 4.

I think the likes of EA would live to regret Nintendo failing in the hardware market. If Nintendo made games for PS4 it would spread sales out amongst all the publishers even more. Having said that, EA definitely revelled in their attempts to kill Wii u so I'm half expecting them to run an ad campaign warning people not to buy NX!

Re: Preview: Getting Lost in the World of Xenoblade Chronicles X

Nintenjoe64

I'm excited! I'm a little nervous... I won't be using motion controls.

I am pumped for this game but judging on my progress in XC, I could play this for a year and barely scratch the surface. It almost annoys me that Monolith Soft can beef up a game with almost endless content but other Nintendo studios are happy to give us the bare minimum. Let's hope Monolith help fill Zelda U!

Re: SEGA Posts Financial Results, Sales are Down and Profits are up

If they're making more money releasing terrible games than when they were actually trying, they'll carry on putting less money into development and hoping it keeps paying off.

I don't really care too much about them reviving old stuff but I'd like to see Saturn and Dreamcast VC. Saturn has a few all time classics and I'd say Dreamcast has more.

Re: Fresh Project H.A.M.M.E.R. Details Reveal Shigeru Miyamoto's Role In The Game's Downfall

Nintenjoe64

The Miyamoto connection seems pretty weak. If I ordered lots of expensive materials to make something that hadnt been finalised for my job, I'd expect to be fired.

It does seem like 'Blame Miyamoto' month at the mo. I'm pretty sure he's not the person insisting on poor marketing and weak hardware. The only thing that annoys me about him is the fact his projects never seem to get made or they're not that good or successful but get sequels....

Re: Eiji Aonuma is Aiming For an Open World "Surprise, or Kind of a Twist" in The Legend of Zelda for Wii U

Nintenjoe64

The only surprise I want is them pushing the boundaries of adventure gaming like they did with Ocarina. They need to make Hyrule seem alive by filling it with fun things to do and people to meet. Not surprisingly sparse.

My guess for the surprise is either a time limit, dungeon-order-dependent branching storylines or that it merges two previously separate timelines.

My pessimistic guess is the surprise will be frame rate drops
