From Bandai Namco, Outright Games, and UK developer Funsolve, Jumanji: The Video Game has today been announced for Nintendo Switch.
The game has been developed in collaboration with Sony Pictures and is an officially licensed title based on the Jumanji film franchise. It'll put you in control of the film’s heroes as they set off on an adventure to find the precious Jewels of Jumanji, save the world, and then find a way home again. Things aren't quite that simple, though, as you'll also face deadly, exotic creatures, dangerous locations and more along the way.
Here's a little more info and the first official batch of screenshots:
Unite with up to three friends on this hilarious adventure in online or split-screen modes, as you tackle all new Jumanji environments and choose your hero from Dr. Smolder Bravestone, Ruby Roundhouse, Franklin “Mouse” Finbar or Professor Shelly Oberon and combine their unique abilities to keep one another alive.
Funsolve Founder and Director, Richard Tawn, has shared the following in a press release:
“This is a dream come true for our studio. Adapting the exotic, dangerous and hilarious world of Jumanji into a video game has pushed us to create something truly special. We’ve got some incredibly exciting features and reveals coming soon, but for now let’s just say the game is coming this November, and puts you in the shoes of iconic Jumanji heroes.”
As you no doubt spotted there, the game is releasing this November. You'll be able to get your hands on it from the 15th of that very month, in fact. The Switch version will be accompanied by releases on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

I am a fan but don't think I'm convinced on this yet.
Iconic? No Robin Williams character? Who are those characters? Zzzzzzzzz...
Ah Yeah! Can't wait to play Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson: The Jungle Game!
Nice. Be good if they have some classic content in it.
@DockEllisD or maybe at fans demand as paid DLC lmao
I like the idea of a Jumanji game, either as an adventure game or a Mario Party-style board/mini-game mix. But having it based on the new movies makes this nothing more than a money grab. There is real potential there.
The new movie wasn't too bad, but the original is the best by far
A new Jumanji game?
ahem
WHAT YEAR IS IT?!
(seriously, it took ten comments to get here? You folks are slacking )
The graphics look really nice actually! Depending on reviews, I might get it!
I had only seen that one film with Robin William in it, never knew it was a franchise. May check this out but I'm not hoping for anything spectacular.
Don't eat the CAKE
Jumanji the video game, based off of the film franchise, based off of the game, first seen in the film.........yeah I’m done
We have this, but not the ability to play SNES and N64 games on Switch.
lol
Looks interesting
Man, nothing but more strained 90s nostalgia.
...
...
I admit that I may be part of the problem.
Sony are idiots. They own the rights, but aren't making this a PlayStation exclusive like they did with Spiderman? Error in the favour of gamers.
It’s 4-player co-op. That’s pretty much enough for me to give it a go.
Annnnd yet no Batman Arkham Origins Remaster but we get Jumanji. SIGH
@retro_player_22 Not a franchise really. It just got a reboot which in my personal opinion is better than the original.
A video game based off a movie about people entering a video game.
Everything has come full circle.
@N64-ROX This refers to the recent reboot of Jumanji from 2017, which is a way better film than the sad contrived and aged Robin Williams original.
Not sure where you're getting the 90s nostalgia from, or why you are complaining about it given that your user name is literally N64-ROX!
I never even saw the new Jumanji. I remember seeing the Robin Williams movie (at the cinemas) in the mid 1990s though. Will there be a video game for that one too? Or even just a new board game version? 😄
YES! FINALLY! What took them so long?
Hopefully they have more cake-splosions, dancing?, Crocodile fights, etc.
@Greenmanalishi Robin Williams' character had one film. The four characters in this movie / video game have two films, if you count the one set to release this year. Just because Williams' film is older doesn't make it better. And for what it's worth, Welcome to the Jungle is objectively better than the original Jumanji.
The video game based on the film about the once board game turned video game.
I love both films and I'm very excited to see the third later this year. Screenshots look nice, so I'm certainly intrigued.
@Dr_Awkward
I guess my joke fell flat...
This is late...and random.
Can we do dance battles as Ruby Roundhouse though? 😂
I always found it amusing Sony Pictures provides rights to be licensed out for video games on multiple consoles.
@teamdave2002 🙄
I will get this to play with my kids. They will love it.
A Pitfall! sequel?
Lol if it was Robin Williams and the older cast I would have been interested, but you can stick the "Rock", who is only able to play himself.
@mrmememan if only they made A Welcome to the Jungle game with Duane in it.
The movie gave me the creeps as a kid. Not in ways I think they intended either.
@Dr_Awkward Yes because an original movie about a cursed board game with dangerous rules that impact the world and it's players in life-threatening ways is definitely worse than the movie about sending cliched highschoolers into a video game. Because yes, that is 100% better than what the original Jumanji did.
@tendonerd If only 😣
I don’t how anyone could think the recent reboot is better than the original. Even the concept was better. Board game impacts real world, was much more exciting. The second one felt cliche, no charm, no heart and just kinda fake. I’m a fan of the rock too mind so I enjoyed the movie but the first felt special and had so much character.
Well it's about time, I'm surprised they didn't release a game to coincide with the recent reboot. The game looks fun, i'll probably pick it up
No thanks, I'm not falling for this one again. Suck me into a cursed game once, shame on you. Suck me in twice, shame on me..
kinda silly looking
made me laugh just looking at it. Oh man I hope it won't be a bad game because most video games that are based off from movies turn out bad.
i like the artwork:)
I thought this was a Fornite Jumanji event
Too bad the movie sucked
