Publisher qureate has announced a rather risqué rhythm game called Massage Freaks, which sees you massage a bunch of anime women to the beat of the music, which qureate itself calls “a rhythm game that rings throughout the body”.
The game is due for release on the eShop on August 4th at a price of $27.99 / 2,980 yen. It will include English, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese language options at launch.
Here's some further info from the official website:

Achieve a certain score during the game, and at the end of the massage you’ll enter Nice! Totally Relaxed! Mode, a.k.a. NTR Mode. In NTR Mode, you’ll get the best reactions no matter where you touch the customers. Don’t hesitate to give them the best full-body massages possible!Have off-the-clock dates with your customers…?!
You can meet your customers not only at Relaxation Yubihara, but outside of it as well! Get a glimpse of sides to them you wouldn’t see at the parlor, hear their troubles, and see unexpected things that would leave most men standing in excitement!
It all sounds quite naughty, indeed, so if you're up for performing a few massages, then this one might just be up your street. Maybe keep it tucked away while you're out in public though!
Let us know in the comments what you make of Massage Freaks and whether you'll be picking it up!

I do like rhythm games so I'd consider buying it if the music and gameplay were good but I haven't seen anything of it outside of screenshots so I don't have much of an idea about either.
@BenAV There is a trailer floating around, but there's no accompanying audio, which is odd. So we've not included it here.
Why do Japanese love these soft erotic games so much?
@Olliemar28 That is weird that there's no audio as that's one of the most important aspects for a rhythm game. Doesn't exactly get my hopes up that it's any good, haha.
@Olliemar28 @BenAV Is it possible the lack of audio could be due to licensing issues? Hoping it's something silly like that over it being just crummy music they are afraid to show off.
@Max_the_German Short answer is because they want to but are too afraid to do this kind of thing with real people. So virtual entertainment is what they strive for.
This is hilarious
I mean I like going for massages myself but this seems a bit more..... risque than it would get with my ones is all I'm saying.
DAY ONE BUY FOR ME
Horrifying. Glad to know Japan, which has such a problem with unwanted groping that women travel in separate train carriages, is having such a naughty laugh about ‘full-body’ massaging customers. As if there isn’t issues surrounding masseurs abusing their positions.
Inappropriate. Surprised Nintendo have allowed it to be published. Can't imagine this game would exist at all if the sexes were reversed.
Ah I do love a good ru... I mean Rhythm game
@XenoShaun @nessisonett but the game is in English, those games always come out in English. But sure, it's 100% a Japanese thing, they just translated because they like to burn money. "Incel" is a term that probably came from the Japanese language btw.
I get a certain feeling of inevitablity about this game on the Switch eShop. I'm not entirely sure why.....
I can't quite work out what they're trying to say with that NTR mode, that's kind of the opposite of what NTR means.
@abdias - "incel" actually came from an inclusive BB group, where people got together to discuss their lack of dating/ sex due to their physically differences and neurodiversity. A woman came up with the term!!
It was only later when angry men co-opted it.
@nessisonett all those reports about crowded trains are horrific
Yeah I'm sure folks are interested in this for the 50 unique songs!...yeah...
@Yas
Nah there's plenty of "hot guy" games on Switch too.
@Piyo
You can hide all games from your play activity, or you can use a different user profile. Doesn't seem like there is any way to hide games individually though.
@XenoShaun @BenAV
Little do we know the soundtrack is entirely comprised of New Age hits from the last fifty years, from Enya to Yanni. Being a massage game, no other music makes sense.
@nessisonett It's not as bad as the usa though, I means there's gun crime in the country but activision make a call of duty, a war game where you kill people with gun. And you know there's animal cruelty right? But nintendo made a games about stomping turtles.
We should just ban all games together to stop this 😛
Massage game that isn’t even catering to the foot fetish crowd. Disappointed.
@Yas There are definitely worse games on the Switch. And if you think there is not a market for massaging beautiful men, you better think again. Just because the game doesn't exist currently doesn't mean there's not a market for it. There's a reason those smut books like 50 Shades and 365 Days sell so well. Just because you don't want to make a beautiful man moan in bliss from a massage doesn't mean that the ladies and some of our LGBTQ+ friends don't want it either. 😏
@Solomon_Rambling I'd still be down for that!
NTR mode haha that's hilarious, day one buy for me
@Yas
Men and women often have different wants, needs and desires. Have you ever walked into the dollar store and seen the selections of cheap romance novels with chiseled, mostly-naked men? Have you read one?
Have you ignored games like Dream Daddy?
Most girls don't care for games like this. Maybe some do. Maybe you could become a developer and make a massage game with sexy, oiled-up muscle dudes.... or better yet, a game with them in fitted suits, because actual women are generally more turned on ny things like that - The game would probably sell like crap, due to a smaller interest in the gaming medium, but you do you.
Okay, I don't mean to be entirely disrespectful. Let me just say that it wouldn't hurt to have a little more perspective, and perhaps not make every little thing into a pseudo-political problem....That said, you do you. I'm just putting it out there.
I love me some rythm games and adding fanservice on top of it is a nice bonus. Need to hear some of the available music first though since that is the most important aspect of a rythm game to me. The price seems kind of high aswell.
I'll keep an eye out for it. Also, the Nice! Totally Relaxed! mode is funny
I like fanservice, I like rhythms games, What more could I ask for! I hope the music is good!
@Yas But, there are a variety of hot/romantic game options with dudes in em, plenty in fact.
Like what I see, will check it out! Hope the music is good too!
Looks better than Bravery and Greed though
One part of me is like "fine that this comes on the Switch"
Other parts thinks : oof this should not come to the Switch"
I start to worry that the freedom Nintendo as of now gives to publishers of games content wise will go away if this kind of content comes out on the Switch too often, we could get another Sony if Nintendo snaps again and goes back to their old ways of censorship.
Again nothing against this game itself, just me worry about the haters of it...
Not the best time to release your massage game with "your secret massage technique". The news is full of horror stories about what is a woefully inadequately regulated industry.
There was one on the BBC just this week about how anyone can pose as a masseuse, fake their qualifications and experience on an online work App, and then countless reports of people being seriously assaulted.
I'm not against this game or the premise, but the timing is a shocking example of why you hire a PR agency...!
Also, all the innuendos in their press release... again, it's all fun on an average day, but in the current news context this is cringe at best and offensive at worst!!
Um... Sorry if I post my comment here. 😳
I shouldn't be here but...
I prefer get massage by handsome men with six pack body.
@Anti-Matter lol
I don't mind them making mature or erotic or ecchi games on Switch - the only reason that's newsworthy is that some people still think Nintendo is somehow a bleached underpants company like say, Disney (and even Disney will do adult content at times - see putting Marvel Netflix shows on D+).
What I -DO- mind is the glorifying of NTR and non-consent.
I think substituting the word "Massage" in the title for another word beginning with M would have been more apt.
@marandahir Its the non-consent that’s really worrying. This isn’t women paying for an erotic massage, this is women with ‘troubles’ who ask for a massage to destress and then the protagonist proceeds to touch them inappropriately and bizarrely make them orgasm. It’s repugnant.
@Max_the_German You think these types of things are exclusive to Japan?
@nessisonett not to defend this "game" (not my style, looks crappy and I prefer different type of anime games, but I have nothing against people that like this, each to their own)
With that disclaimer out of the way, you do know that we in the west have same if not worse stuff like this?
Just not in form of a game.
I understand your concern, but the way you put it does sound like a lot of western people that totally forget we (aka the west) are not better at all.
Just saying, you don't need to agree with this from your perspective, but I look at it from a distance and see both (japan and the west in this case) at the same time.
On a sidenote
Reminds me of some people in my country "shocked" at certain type of racism and discrimination in the UK and US, but at the same time being full blind (because easier) about people doing same crap in their own country.
Anyhow I prefer to leave it at that discussion wise.
These games are so weird and.. awkward... if I may.
I have such mixed feelings about it all. Like cool, enjoy the video game but like... why this way.
It would make me feel so awkward playing this in public and probably even more awkward playing it alone knowing what I was doing. Just taking that extra second to snap out of it and realize you're alone in a room doing this stuff. Just really awkward.
This is not a game I would ever touch. But I think some of the outrage against it is taking things too seriously.
It’s better someone lives out a fantasy (especially a weird one) in a video game than in real life. There is no correlation between people playing these games and then acting them out in real life.
So I’m fine with letting people have their fetishes and keeping these games out in the open. It doesn’t really harm anyone.
@Kienda "It’s better someone lives out a fantasy (especially a weird one) in a video game than in real life. There is no correlation between people playing these games and then acting them out in real life."
So many people forget that, I mean by the logic of "you play/see this, then do it in real" I don't want to imagine what I should be like after playing games like Pokémon (let's capture poor animals and force them to do what I want), Doom (kill everything that moves), and all the movies I did watch (that list is very long)
But I do think, or more I worry these "games" could cause Nintendo to raise a eyebrow and be more strict, even to games that did not deserve it, but that would get punished because of this game causing too much stir.
And I mean console wise Sony already went back to the dark side sadly...
Seeing some of these comments one could think that some people are unaware of the existence of pr0n. Relax, it's just a game aimed at horny nerds
@steely_pete if anything, p**n is worse than this.
And maybe because me being a female is the reason I dislike p**n (not the people watching it, just the medium itself), but in all honesty even after playing some VNs with H scenes in it (which I tend to skip, or not download a patch for because in 99% of the cases I don't care).
I think p**n can be much more "agressive" (without going too much into detail how and why) than 99% of these games will ever be.
And I have sadly seen too much classmates watch it in the classroom (often when the teacher was gone), because I was that one girl that liked computers and went into IT.
Ooh, spicy debate about moving drawings, my favourite… sigh
Massage Beautiful wafus.......Sold!!
@Yas : if sexes were reversed, they could have a joystick waggling mode…. Like hyper sports.
@nessisonett While I do agree that is terrible, I have to ask, are you just as equally horrified about any game that features guns and violence? Especially knowing about the ridiculous amount of shootings in the USA at the moment
Deshawn Watson is interested in this.
Can't wait for the Amiibo.
Articles like these really bring the puritan side of some people here 🍿😎
@PtM It would definitely have lower interest overall, but these types of games don't seem to have high sales either. They are for the men of culture after all, of which there are few. 😉🤣
Edit: Don't forget our LGBTQ+ friends of culture as well. And the ladies of culture who would be down for some man-massaging. 🥵
@RicebinBernacky Well yeah, that’s why almost all games with guns and such are either fantasy settings like Doom or military games featuring ‘baddies’. A game in which you mow down children with an AR-15 wouldn’t release and for good reason.
@Savage_Joe The pearl-clutchers are at it again. It is fun to see people fight about stuff that doesn't interest them. I wouldn't play this game either, but it also doesn't bother me.
@PtM What do we call $1.325 billion at the box office for the 50 Shades movies? Give the ladies and the BGTQ+ the naughty that they like and they'll go for it. Maybe they'd be into some man-massaging.
@PtM I'm making the connection of erotic media to erotic media in a moderately jocular manner. You seem to be taking me a bit too seriously, no offense. I just let the naughties out there have their naughty material and let it be.
@Silly_G While mesmerize is a good word too, massage works just fine
It's a maybe from me....a lot of rhythm games out there always go for the guitar hero setup, though I think this rhythm game type seems to be another I'm not good at, so...I dunno.
@Snatcher @eaglebob345 @EarthboundBenjy
Nah... it's not the existence of "hot guy" games I was posting about, it's the assumption that young girls with "worries" just need a good orgasm to make everything right in the world. Oh, and they'll probably fall in love with you at the same time! Reminds me of that song from the '70s - Hang On In There Baby by Johnny Bristol! Just think that we've moved on from outdated sexism like this.
Sounds fun and rather innocent. Why do some get so upset about some sexual content that is cartoon and in no way worse then what you would see on a beach?
@Yas Its just fiction, its a fantasy. Its not sexism just because its unrealistic. Lots of things you can do in games that should not be done IRL
@Sveakungen At the risk of repeating myself ad nauseam, it's not the sexual content that's the problem, it's the sexual attitudes and context that's worrying.
Especially in light of the news article highlighted by @nocdaes https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-62081247 which came out a couple of days ago in the UK. Can anyone read that and not think this game is anything but tacky at best.
Having said that, I've no problem with shooting games, and think Advance Wars should never have been delayed! Go figure. Double standards? Probably.
@Yas Dude it’s fiction,
@Yas rating systems are there for a reason... if a game has too many mature, suggestive and sexual topics, on top of violence, guess what, it's not a family friendly game.
@nessisonett
AYE.
@Sveakungen
It's not the sexual content that is bad, it's the encouraging of non-consensual sexual acts - aka, sexual harassment, assault, predatory behaviours, and netorare.
There can be safe and positive art that plays with these concepts. There can be inconsequential ones too. But these are very, very serious violent crimes that the game is reinforcing as a positive thing. Such a game has a right to exist, but it doesn't have a right to be un-criticised.
@marandahir It is fictional cartoon girls, they do not exist. Surely not suitable for kids, but I think it's way more harmless than fighting or shooting games, most violent children cartoons or similar things. Age rating should be enough.
Not my kind of game, but I can understand the appeal.
To be fair, that top image looks wholesome as heck. =)
Do people know that a lot of the violence in video games is not consensual? And there is even violence in real life too!!
Think of the children!!
This looks like a horny IA/VT Colorful knockoff kinda.
Oh, it also looks like I pressed the pre-order button.
@Anti-Matter the player character that's giving the girls a massage might be a handsome man with six pack body tho 🤔
Say no to deplatforming things because it makes you uncomfortable
@PtM But I'm serious, do you know back in the old day people like to burn witches, but what did platinum games do? They make bayonetta 3, a game about witch, clearly they must be stopped 😛
I miss elite beat agents. Where the heck did that potential series go. . .
: (
Another game that dehumanizes women, turning them into objects for perverts to gawk at. Gaming is so close to being art and shaking it's "basement dwellers only" stereotype and trash like this is what's holding it back.
Comparing the objectification women and violence in videogames is like comparing kiddie p*rn to a Martin Scorsese movie. And that justification just doesn't hold up.
@Effortlessgamer Companies are free to make ecchi games if they wish to. And they are not trash just because you don't like it.
Also, unlike your movie comparison, ecchi games neither harms people or is illegal.
@Tobiaku so what you're saying is that you're a fan of games that dehumanize, devalue and objectify women and teenage girls. Gotcha...
Let's be honest everyone, its most likely a stupid and trashy game. Sorry if that "offends" anyone. 🙃
@nessisonett "Well yeah, that’s why almost all games with guns and such are either fantasy settings like Doom or military games featuring ‘baddies’."
It's so cute that you've apparently never heard of this little series called "Grand Theft Auto," what with its most recent entry only being the second-best-selling game of all time and all.
Kate Gray didn't author this one?
@BulkSlash It's NTR mode because you're "cheating" at the game.
@ryuuryuunonoroi Aha, yes I can see that now. 👍
@PtM cool story?
@PtM uh huh. Sure. If you say so...
@PtM Because it was a non sequiteur. Ness was attempting to make the (incorrect) point that violent games were more acceptable than sexual ones because the former take pains to present their subject matter in acceptable or fantastical contexts that won't be misinterpreted by impressionable minds; "mow[ing] down children with an AR-15" was a (decidedly not cute) example of such, but hardly the defining case. Wanton destruction, slaughter, and crime against and among civilian adults ain't ok either.
My use of quotes wasn't derived from an effort to misrepresent, but rather to concretely reference a point that had been made some time ago in the thread, unanswered though it still was. If you wanted to criticize me for anything, you would've been on steadier ground to do so over me necro'ing a dropped argument than what you chose.
@PtM You mean, if Rockstar Games had exported their formula for violence and illicit mayhem into a realistic youth-centric environment - say, maybe, a prep school - and advertised it with a decidedly misanthropic name like, I dunno, "Bully?"
Indeed, we can only ponder .
@nessisonett that's like complaining call of duty is making fun of war like the ukraine one because they're making war games for entertainment or horror movies are making fun of murder victims because it has murder for entertainment value, also you only massage the girls who come to you asking for it and these girls also go on dates with you so maybe you should keep your stupid comments to yourself next time because you have no idea what you're talking about
@Jordium_Z So if a woman right now asked you for a massage and you started groping her breasts, do you think she would appreciate that?
Stop asking me stupid question, I already stated that everything in this game is consensual and if you think sexual themes is worse than violence in games like GTA then you're just a stupid hypocrite and you're no different than the politician that blame video games for violence" because if you think runnning over innocent people in GTA without their consent and go on a killing spree is okay if you're worried about massaging somewhat sexual whether than if you can kill innocent people in game like GTA you clear ought to get your priority in order and while you're at it try to ban horror movies because they depict murder in realistic details and it's disrespectful to murder victims and frankly I find it disrespectful that you use IRL rape victims to complain about video game being bad
Removed - inappropriate
@Effortlessgamer there's plenty of visual novels with sexy men for women on switch and I do not feel objectify, also if you think this game is objectifying women then fight against call of duty for objectifying men as tools as wars and complain fire emblem for normalising child soldiers, these cartoons are not real learn the differences between reality and fiction before you come here to share stupid opinions on things you don't know what you're talking about
@Jordium_Z "objectifying men as tools as wars..." I have no words. I am speechless at the stupidity of this comment.
Also, I'm aware of the cartoon girls are not real. But it normalizes the idea that it's ok to think of women as nothing but objects for men to enjoy. And that is harmful.
@Effortlessgamer Stop being a complete *****, you're no different than people saying video games causes violence, if you think a cartoon girl normalises treating women poorly than you're just as stupid as the politician saying that shooting citizen in gta causes real life shootings and that videogame normalise gun violents, but I guess your name is accurate because you put 0 effort into using your brain
