Takashi Hamamura, game designer for HAL Laboratory, has announced that he has resigned from the company.
In a tweet posted on April 28th, the veteran stated (via a rough translation) "Today was the last day of work at HAL Laboratory. I would like to finally do game design research activities from next month. If you are interested, please come!"
Hamamura has worked on several games within the Kirby franchise, perhaps most notably serving as the Game Director for the 2006 DS game Kirby: Squeak Squad. He's also worked in game design for Kirby Battle Royale and Kirby and the Rainbow Curse, but his credits go all the way back to 2004's The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap, where he served as a planner.
Whatever Hamamura goes on to work on next, we wish him the very best of luck!
Are you familiar with Takashi Hamamura's work? What do you make of his resignation? Let us know in the comments.

“Onto greener pastures”
Green greener pastures?
Loved Rainbow Curse, underrated game.
Huh. Very coincidentally I got myself Rainbow Curse just yesterday. I've heard a few tracks from the soundtrack and it seems so good that I can't just pass it any longer.
@Franklin it so is. For an instant the pic got my hopes up for the glorious comeback I’ve been patiently waiting for..
When you say 'resigned', it sounds like he was caught in a scandal or something. But no, he's just leaving to pursue other things. I guess my mind's just been trained to think that way thanks to media.
Good luck to him though, hopefully he goes on to create something just as great as his previous works!
Good luck to him. appreciate the hard work.
@Fizza It's better than "quit"!
@Olliemar28 Can't deny that.
Never understood the hate Rainbow Curse got or Rainbow Paintbrush as it's known here. It's such an underrated gem and I would actually like to see a Switch port of that game because the one issue I had with it is that you couldn't appreciate the game in HD and instead had to make do with the poor quality of the Wii U's Tablet.
Was HAL involved with The Minish Cap or was he part of Capcom at the time? Or perhaps was under HAL but worked with Capcom (as opposed to enough of HAL working on the game to be considered a co-developer?)
Moo Moo Meadows?
@ERIC_MACK He was part of Flagship (and therefore Capcom) at the time, yes.
@LuigiBlood Thanks! This is my first time hearing about Flagship
@Expa0 Excellent choice, the game is sublime.
He contributed to at least one fantastic Kirby game! (Rainbow Curse)
@Olliemar28 not as good as "leaves for better opportunity," or something, IMO.
