Unfortunately this was one of those debacles where people reacted through emotions rather than logic and she was caught in the crossfire. While I agree VAs are treated very poorly and deserve better, Helena Taylor’s statements wasn’t adding up and people should have thought about it more.

Hale didn’t deserve any of the vitriol she got and I’m glad she’s still open to returning

I want to be excited for this but it gives off a lot of MN9 energy. Feels like it wants to be SF64 in all the most superficial ways. Like everything, familiar worlds, character archetypes, the similar designs, even the dialogue feels the same. It’s just all the same tropes

Sounds like if you liked BFBB and Cosmic Shake you’ll like it. I’m fine with that

There’s something really funny about boycotting Nintendo over GKC and then say you’re going to Xbox for physical when they’ve been having nothing on their discs for the longest time and pushing hard for digital only

Just getting this out now, don’t go expecting a buying spree of huge publishers, devs and IP from Nintendo like we saw with MS. Chances are this will just be acquiring and investing in studios they already have good relationships with like we saw with Next Level Games. On a related note, it’d be a good idea to invest in more NA/EU developers imo

They’re making HD console games under the same restrictions and guidelines of a cheaper handheld experience. While Pokemon has always been a huge money maker, they were never the most demanding games, but this was fine back then because they still looked great for the hardware. But once they jumped from 3DS to Switch these issues really start to show, especially when you’re being compared to far more demanding games like BOTW or Xenoblade, and especially when you’re demanding premium prices for them.

Also the games have gotten considerably easier, which really don’t think is a bad thing honestly, these games are made for kids. And before anyone gets offended by that, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. Sometimes people just want easy games. And really, and I gotta be careful with how I say this, but the series hasn’t really grown with the audience, especially compared to Digimon, and I think that’s fine. I think some people really need to accept that they might have grown out of the franchise

I mean I won’t say no to Halo but all I want is Rare Replay. Throw in the DK games, SFA, and I’ll be there day one

Hell give me the classic CoD games, I don’t care about the new stuff but I would love Big Red One, Black Ops, the original MW trilogy, CoD 3 on modern platforms too

It’s more of a gaming pc handheld with Xbox branding than an Xbox Handheld. It even uses Windows 11 rather than something based on Xbox. If they made an actual Xbox Handheld that linked to my Xbox/360/One library it might’ve actually been worth something. I’d love a way to natively play Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, CoD3, etc, on the go. But as is, there are better and cheaper options like the Steam Deck

A couple months ago, One of the guys who worked on the series admitted they wanted to add more franchises than just those two, including Mega Man, PAC-Man, Street Fighter, Metal Gear, Dragonball, and some Sone/MS characters. Of course this never happened probably because it was a rights nightmare and without the pull of someone like Sakurai

Soundtrack is still excellent as is. As much as I like arrangements I’m glad they didn’t touch it. It’s still my favorite FF game so I can’t wait to get it, I’m especially interested in the difficulty levels

Nice to see that RGG seems to be committed to the Switch 2 for now

Mega Man is an inclusion I can get behind at least. That said if I get this I’ll probably only get Mega Man and PAC-man, and the Sega characters(which will hopefully include Tangle, Whisper and Stcks at some point), I still can’t come around to the inclusion of Nickelodeon.

It was a "fine" Direct. If this was in the Switch 1's fifth year no one would care, but as the first Direct for the for your new console post launch, "fine" isn't good enough. I'm not gonna poo poo on it an say it was irredeemable garbage and the console is doomed, I feel like people are being too overdramatic, but it really needed that extra OOMF

Halo and Gears would be cool but really Rare Replay with DK+Star Fox is all I want

If we're talking adding more Star Fox soundtracks, how about we add games we don't have on the service like Adventures or the SNES game, before 64 3D since we already have 64

Jennifer Hale being involved was also something that made Helena Taylor’s complaints very suspicious. Now I’m no expert on business or VA casting, but it’s definitely weird to undercut Helena Taylor and the hire a very popular, high demand, and probably more expensive VA like Hale

I remember when all of that was going down. And even when it was revealed people were being lied to by the VA, instead of apologizing to Kamiya, some people even tried to justify their harassment with crap like "well he was being rude anyway!" or "well he still handled it terribly"

It wasn't right no matter how you slice it and the way people handled it after the fact makes it clear that it was never about accountability, people just wanted outrage and to stroke their own egos

Isn't OoT already on the app? Seems like a big waste when there's tons of great soundtracks still missing, even from Zelda alone.

Not everyone at Nintendo is infallible. Everyone has their strengths and weaknesses, including people like Miyamoto.
I do hope Imamura knows his work at Nintendo is still very well regarded. I would love to see him back for a new SF and F-Zero someday.

Every time I just hear YongYea, which just takes me out of it, especially having watched his videos. I don’t think the dub is awful(David Hayter as Kashiwagi, Matt Mercer as Majima in particular are great), but when your main character is very miscast, it’s hard to sit through

I hated it there too. I’m fine with guest characters. They can be fun, but we’re reaching the point where they’re putting people anyone without any rhyme or reason, just putting them in there entirely for shock value. SpongeBob isn’t as bad as Danica Patrick, but that doesn’t mean I have to like it
