Re: Talking Point: Do You Play Zelda Games For The Story?

Megas75

I like a good story. I don’t think they need it but I appreciate them putting the effort. Even if it’s basic if they have strong and fun characters they can carry it well enough, I still love characters like Midna, Groose, Linebeck, etc. BOTW story is mostly in the background but I really do like it, the way you can tell what is happening simply from the state of world. And when they actually go the extra mile you get really good stuff like Link’s Awakening which is a top 3 Zelda game.

Re: "It's Truly Baffling" - Shigeru Miyamoto Comments On The Mario Galaxy Movie's Critical Reception

Megas75

I haven't seen the movie yet, so none of this might not mean anything, but it's sounding like a lot of issues I had with the first movie wasn't really addressed in the sequel. I remember the movie feeling like it was moving really quickly with no time to breath, but also had little in the way of actual substance, relying heavily on references, easter eggs and nostalgia even more than the last movie(which seems to be an even bigger issue than last time. I love Star Fox but I'm scratching my head why Fox is here of all places). They're fun popcorn flicks you turn your brain off and enjoy, there's nothing wrong with that. I agree that critics shouldn't be the be-all-end-all(that one comment about the movie being worse than AI was just gross), but he comes across as awfully defensive, I can see why this movie not resonating with many people

I know there's the narrative that Miyamoto is against story in games but when you see how he handles movies and how lacking they are in the story department, they kind of add more weight to it, and unlike games movies don't have much to fall back on if the story falls flat

Re: Talking Point: Star Fox Zero Is 10 Years Old - Have You Actually Played It?

Megas75

I got this game at launch and gave up after the Gyrowing section

Tried two years ago because I wanted to give another and really wanted to like it. I actually beat it but after I finished Andross I’m pretty sure I ended up hating it more. Nintendo’s made worse games but it’s easily one of their most disappointing games for me.

I’m really not interested in seeing it come back. It was already disappointing when they announced it would be a retelling of 64 after they just remade the same game on 3DS. Even if they fixed all the problems with the controls all your left with is a weaker retread of 64, it's just too derivative for me to care, why would I play Zero when I could play 64 instead?. If they rerelease it alongside a brand new game, fine, but otherwise I won’t bother

Re: Talking Point: What Would You Want From A New Star Fox Game?

Megas75

Just about anything else except “literally Star Fox 64 with our new gimmick no one wants to use”. I’m so tired of waiting years(decades!) for a new game only for it to regurgitate the same crap over and over again. I’m tired of the same cast going through the same story, the same bosses, similar set pieces, the same damn dialogue and the same damn one-liners. I’ve already played this game, multiple times. Move on. The new game can stick the same formula as SF64, they could try Adventures again, or even Command, they could even get stupid and make something off-base like a beat-em up, kart racer or high school dating sim. I’m open to literally almost anything. Hell I’m not exactly pining for an open world game, but at this point I’d be more interested in that than another retelling of SF64. Just give me new s***

Re: Japanese Charts: Yakuza Kiwami 3 Brings The Fight To Mario Tennis

Megas75

A Mario Sports spin-off has no business being a $70 game, and the sales reflect it. Even considering it's a packed month, that's a massive drop from ACES. I hope Nintendo uses these numbers as a way to rethink their pricing strategy because not every game they make needs to be a full priced release, save the $70 for your mainline Marios, Zeldas, Fire Emblems, etc, give smaller or more niche games a lower price so they can at least have a chance

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (14th February)

Megas75

After beating VII and Remake I’ve been on a bit of a Final Fantasy kick lately. Currently playing VIII and will probably go through IX again after. Though I’ve also been playing MGS2 and 3 after the Switch 2 patch got them running better so I can finally play them the way they’re supposed to run

Re: Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Fails To Meets Sega's Expectations

Megas75

Sonic Racing games unfortunately are games I don’t think can get away with full-price releases + paid DLC, especially when a) a lot of them are random Nickelodeon characters and b) they don’t have voice acting or interactions with everyone(and this goes for all DLC characters), it makes them feel really cheap and off, like if you’re going through the trouble of adding SpongeBob at least give the novelty of hearing talk trash to Shadow. I like SpongeBob and all, but I can’t help but look at their inclusion with apathy(not as bad as Danica Patrick or Christiano Ronaldo in MOTW, but still with confusion), especially with Mega Man and PAC-man, who just makes me want to see Smash Kart but from Sonic’s side. Throw me Cloud Strife or Solid Snake, I’d be all over it.

Of course releasing near Mario Kart didn’t help either. People can air out their grievances over the price but it’s still a solid Mario Kart release

Re: Hideki Kamiya's Block-Happy, Take-No-Crappery Is "Super Reassuring", Says Yoko Taro

Megas75

Devs don't owe anyone anything and are allowed to block whoever they want, especially have gamers have shown to be some of the biggest crybabies on the internet. It's really not worth the hassle to interact with these kinds of people on social media.

The fact that people were taken for a ride over the Bayonetta VA debacle, relentlessly harassed the guy over a lie, and instead of admitting they f-ed up, they instead tried to justify their harassment shows people just want anger and outrage, and it's being proven on this very comment section

Re: Poll: Which Call Of Duty Do You Want To See On Switch 2?

Megas75

just give me a collection of the first 9 games(Cod 1-3, MW 1-3, W@W, BO 1 and 2). Make a bundle of 3 each, I don't care how, just put them there. Bonus points if you're nice enough to throw UO or BRO as freebies

I don't care much for the newer stuff(barring IW's campaign)

Re: The US Suffered Its Worst November Since 1995 In Terms Of Hardware Sales

Megas75

Anyone focusing purely on sales and competition is missing the big picture entirely. This news, these numbers, aren't good for anyone . People aren't going to be buying luxury goods when we're on the cusp of a recession, topped with the chip shortage with AI data centers gobbling it all up and companies like Nvidia focusing solely on that market, and focusing less on making consumer grade parts available, everything is going to get more expensive, which means a lot people having to decide paying food/rent or a damn video game

Re: Jennifer Hale Says She Was "Thrown Under The Bus" Amid Bayonetta 3 Casting Controversy

Megas75

Unfortunately this was one of those debacles where people reacted through emotions rather than logic and she was caught in the crossfire. While I agree VAs are treated very poorly and deserve better, Helena Taylor’s statements wasn’t adding up and people should have thought about it more.

Hale didn’t deserve any of the vitriol she got and I’m glad she’s still open to returning

Re: Nintendo States Its Intention To Acquire More Development Teams

Megas75

Just getting this out now, don’t go expecting a buying spree of huge publishers, devs and IP from Nintendo like we saw with MS. Chances are this will just be acquiring and investing in studios they already have good relationships with like we saw with Next Level Games. On a related note, it’d be a good idea to invest in more NA/EU developers imo

Re: Talking Point: When Did 'Good Enough' Become Good Enough For Pokémon?

Megas75

They’re making HD console games under the same restrictions and guidelines of a cheaper handheld experience. While Pokemon has always been a huge money maker, they were never the most demanding games, but this was fine back then because they still looked great for the hardware. But once they jumped from 3DS to Switch these issues really start to show, especially when you’re being compared to far more demanding games like BOTW or Xenoblade, and especially when you’re demanding premium prices for them.

Also the games have gotten considerably easier, which really don’t think is a bad thing honestly, these games are made for kids. And before anyone gets offended by that, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. Sometimes people just want easy games. And really, and I gotta be careful with how I say this, but the series hasn’t really grown with the audience, especially compared to Digimon, and I think that’s fine. I think some people really need to accept that they might have grown out of the franchise

Re: Xbox Reiterates Its Support For Switch 2

Megas75

I mean I won’t say no to Halo but all I want is Rare Replay. Throw in the DK games, SFA, and I’ll be there day one

Hell give me the classic CoD games, I don’t care about the new stuff but I would love Big Red One, Black Ops, the original MW trilogy, CoD 3 on modern platforms too

Re: The ROG Xbox Ally X Receives Glowing Reviews, But It's Still Pretty Pricey

Megas75

It’s more of a gaming pc handheld with Xbox branding than an Xbox Handheld. It even uses Windows 11 rather than something based on Xbox. If they made an actual Xbox Handheld that linked to my Xbox/360/One library it might’ve actually been worth something. I’d love a way to natively play Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, CoD3, etc, on the go. But as is, there are better and cheaper options like the Steam Deck
