Re: Review: Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door (Switch) - Still The King Of Mario RPGs

@PikminMarioKirby Metroid Prime and TTYD are two completely different genres of games. Comparing the two scores just because they are both Nintendo games isn't fair to both games. It would be like comparing Mario to Zelda. Prime getting a 10 doesn't mean it's better it just means it's a 10 in that type of game. A 9 for a rpg is really amazing, and basically means it's a perfect game.

Re: 2004 Satoru Iwata Interview Has Been Remastered And Presented In Full

Martijn87

The comments are now more true then ever. Games are getting to expensive to make with the modern graphics. They really hit a wall with that and need to think if it's worth going for even better graphics.

But back then it was just to promote the Wii, it would have been weird if he would say otherwise. Iwata was just what Nintendo needed at the time, the N64 and Gamecube didn't do that well even though both are great consoles. He really stepped up in a darker time and thankfully the Wii was the succes they needed. The same goes for the Switch. Hopefully they can keep it up with the next console.

Re: Sony On Zelda Live-Action Movie: Miyamoto Has A Really "Strong" Vision

Martijn87

@SalvorHardin how the Lord of the rings looks might actually work great for a Zelda movie. Game of Thrones might be to dark. But both look like confinsing fantasy worlds. The most generic fantasy movies don't have that and just look off and unreal for some reason.

But with Miyamoto taking alot of control I'm sure they get the feeling and looks of the movie perfect. The Mario movie looked amazing and the world building was the best.

Re: Nintendo Confirms June Direct To Boost An Otherwise Quiet Year For Switch

Martijn87

I'm not expecting anything big. It wouldn't make any sense for Nintendo to release another big exclusive for switch, if they can use it to boost the next console. Looking back at the history of the big N, every last year of a console since the N64 was pretty bad with games. When Nintendo is done with a console they are pretty much done right away and start complete focus on the next.

Re: Sonic's Third Movie "Takes A Lot" From Sonic Adventure 2, Says Producer

Martijn87

@LikelySatan they could reach those heights if they would stick to a formula that works and improve that.

The problem with sonic games is that they switch things up completely with every 3D game. Nintendo always stick to a safe template. They use what works and improve on that with the 3d titles. The downside to that is that you get games that don't change that much but you do have the best gameplay, and that's what matters in both Mario and Sonic titles.

I hope Sonic team starts taking the Nintendo roadmap. Sticking to a formula and tweak that to perfection.

Re: Nintendo Store Restocks Pokémon amiibo In Select Regions

@JohnnyMind it would probably cost them to much to make them all, but it woud be something for the legendaries.

It is a missed opportunity though with the unlockables. They might even be able to use Pokemon cards in that way. Would be a great way to integrate both worlds of pokemon.

Re: Sony Lays Off 900 PlayStation Employees, Closes London Studio & Cancels Projects

@gcunit yes but imo Nintendo always been greedy with their prices of hardware and accessories, and they could learn in that regard from the competition. Price cuts can be made because production gets cheaper, its a choice to be made to allow consumers to buy your products cheaper or get more profit by keeping the same price. It's up to debate wich option is the better one, as both have down and upsides.

Re: Sony Lays Off 900 PlayStation Employees, Closes London Studio & Cancels Projects

@Samalik that's true, but those games are designed to be replayed. They also, most of the time, have a learning curve, and you get better with it every time you play it. Especially the games of the past and those that are based on those. However with most kids games you can't die ( lose lives) or get hurt in any way. You just walk from point a to b and collect a couple of things. That's basically it, there's no thing or challenge to overcome. Even my 2 year old can play these games with little help, but her older sisters have no interest in it anymore.

@Anti-Matter how are AAA games instantly inappropriate? I agree that there should me more family kids games, I think Astro bot might be a great contender for that. I also love to play those games in between the bigger AAA games. However games like Bluey, Paw Patrol and Peppa Pig are way to short to appeal to a large market, besides it fans, because they are way to short.

I bought all those games for my kids and even though they loved Bluey and Paw Patrol, they finished the games in just 4-5 hours. That's 40 euro for very short games. It made me upgrade my PS+ to extra just for those games for them. I think alot of parents think the same, those games don't match the costs. They're basically the licenced games of the nes ans SNES era.

I do think it's a important market and these games need a place, but you need to be realistic and see that AAA games are important and matter to way more gamers then family games.
