"It doesn't help that the word is used to advertise products which are often garish or needlessly adorned with vents, neon trim and the like. Not always, of course, but generally the 'gamer' version of anything will have gaudy LEDs embedded somewhere and an edgy name: 'X-TREME' or something with numbers and a 'Z' in it."
I wonder if that's a leftover of pretty much all 90s toys being like that.
Personally I thought "beating" a game meant finishing the main mode/campaign or doing whatever triggers the credits, and "completing" meant doing all the extra stuff as well, like optional bosses (but not necessarily things you need to 100% the game like all collectibles or achievements)
I loved the first game and just got back into Fire Emblem Warriors (3DS because I got that one first). Looks like instead of moving on to the Switch version, I'll take this one.
All this limited release business does is make me feel pressured, and that's the fastest way for me to lose interest. I considered giving these games a chance, but not like this.
@SwitchVogel I'm assuming UK and US, right? The more I read about this game's multiplayer and what does and doesn't seem to work, the more I'm completely baffled at how messed up a game can be.
"I played a session with Alex for the review period (no idea how that worked, thought there was region lock...)"
This sounds like you can either play with friends regardless of region, with the region lock only affecting random matchmaking (does that even exist?), or English-speaking regions count as one region. Could someone with the game look into this?
So instead of normal matchmaking I have to hope that at least three friends with the game are online and want to play at the same time, ir hunt down someon else's code somewhere on the internet and hope that other peopke find it at the same time as me before it expires. Or join yet another out of game community.
Looks like I'll stick to the free version for good. If I pay for a game that's a few too many hoops to jump through.
I got it around launch, I've always liked it, and yet I only ever replay my favorite levels (and minigames, thanks Mom for 100% on those pesky extra levels). Tried it once on NSO, stopped playing after the third or so level. Or maybe after the first boss.
The thing with nostalgia is that mild overall enjoyment and a few highlights are enough to make great memories for me.
Most islands have absolutely nothing if interest except for the potential new villager, and going through the tedious ticket buying process and dodo dialogue for one chance to find someone you like takes entirely too long to be any kind of fun.
Maybe if there was a higher chance to find islands with resources that aren't pointless... oh wait, Nintendo already removed one of them.
He started out by saying "we've already released the amiibo figures for the main game's fighters." That's what "we've released them all" refers to. Those won't be updates. He mentions Zelda and Ganondorf as examples for amiibos that will not get new versions.
THEN he starts talking about DLC amiibos, which are not main game fighters, and states that they will release amiibos of DLC fighters. There is no twist. He's talking about two different things.
I'm not sure if incomplete is the right word, but the game feels less organic than New Leaf.
In NL, things just happened occasionally. Isabelle gave you items for smaller events, the badge guy (forgot his name) showed up for achievements, someone gets an idea for a new building, villagers are looking forward to big holidays (and in some cases you make preparations before the events starts, like collecting Halloween candy/costumes.)
In NH it's all menus. You buy special items from the Nook terminal, there's a strict one visitor per day schedule (new shops/functions just get added to that), and instead of learning about upcoming events through your ingame villagers we get update trailers outside the game and then the event is just there, without any build up. It all feels very artificial to me.

I'm sorry, I cannot find a video where he says that, unless the western version mistranslated what he actualy said. The subtitles on the official Nintendo channel (this video https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=M_NNyXaBW-I) seem pretty clear to me.
Button mashing is still an option, you just need to mash one more button to customize the item first.
Doing the same room decoration event every day for an entire month isn't the same as building your catalog.
The items should have been DYIs.
The article isn't bad, but the title is utter nonsense.
(On a side note, Reese has given my main character a good mix of all three variations, but my second character only ever gets the white and pink requirement. Does anyone know what's up with that?)
There are so many things wrong with this I don't even know where to start.
But let's strip away all of that and look at the game itself... How. How can you give a game one, ONE, map with the most basic and simple design imaginable and call it "strategic" with a straight face? There's marketing lies and then there's...that.
@HADAA It's the Mii Gunner actually. On mobile it was so small the eye looked like an eyepatch and Byleth's weapon looked like part of her body and the result looked too much like a realistic character to be that small.
And I struggled with not enough greenery to get the rating.
Before you do any major construction, throw furniture and flowers all over your island, get watering can recipe, leave it for a few days to spaw lilies or just clean it up while you build up your real island (you may find that this takes longer than you thought) Bam, you get all the cool stuff without sacrificing your aesthetic.
We'll see, but free to play sound like it's going to work like Pokemon Rumble/Pokemon Picross where you could only pay up to a fixed amount of ingame currency to remove limitations. I never even bought that much for Picross and still unlocked the item that gives you unlimited stamina.
Depends on the price since I already played it more than enough on PS2, but if the Polish dub is in, that would be enough to bump it very close to instant buy.
You can't even open your inventory in.party play if you're not the leader. I guess being able to trade between residents of the same island easily would bw too much interaction.
What's the point of region/hemisphere markers on the items if they're available for everyone? Don't get me wrong, I'm glad they got rid of exclusives, but it doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

That's the regular full price for a game, and for the complete edition too. I wonder what the point of this is.
