Re: Animal Crossing: New Horizons Update 1.1.2 Patch Notes - What's Fixed And Changed

Manah

The problem isn't even fruit. The problem is that most items with color variations aren't customizable. Instead every game gets assigned one color and you have to trade for everything else. Or you're lucky enough to find them in trees or balloons, but with so many items and colors, good luck getting the ones you want, let alone as many options as you had in previous games.

Re: Amazon Is Delaying Shipments Of Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Manah

Amazon told me the game would be delivered on the 24th, but unfortuately the way my order looks now (it just says Tuesday without the actual date) is the same as several other orders that kept telling me they would arrive "tomorrow" or "today" without ever actually being shipped. The other store sent me a mail that my order was shipped yesterday, but their own tracking says it hasn't even been given to the delivery people. Delay stuff if necessary, but stop lying to me?

Re: Get A Ring Fit Adventure Workout In This Week's Smash Bros. Ultimate Spirit Event

Manah

Glad to see we get so many events with news spirits. When thare was nothing after the first two or so events for a long time I thought they were going to quietly drop it.

Ring Fit Adventure is tempting as an option to exercise without having to go somewhere else, but unfortunately the reviews sound like I couldn't make it work with my health limitations.

Re: Fresh Gameplay Details For Animal Crossing: New Horizon Emerge From PAX East 2020

I have a feeling we wouldn't have these discussions if people stopped freaking out over customization options for a fictional avatar in a game. Those are usually the ones that start the discussions.

Anyway, guys could wear dresses no problem in New Leaf, and Pocket Camp already let you set your gender (though the eye options were still locked afaik), so I don't really see the issue here.

Re: Recovering Your Animal Crossing: New Horizons Save Data From Nintendo Is A One-Time-Only Deal

Manah

@nintendork64
The reason they restrict the backup system in the first place is still very likely to prevent "cheating." There would be no need to add these limitations, that still don't mean you can transfer your save data to a new console if you just want to upgrade to a better model.

I'm under the impression that this last point is why the majority of the backlash happened, because it looks like Nintendo is paranoid enough to make sure players play it EXACTLY the way they expect. And there have been enough revisions made to the procedure now that the backlash has worked. Or maybe Nintendo realized they won't sell as many consoles if people choose keeping their save file over buying a new model. Either way, we're not stuck with their initial crap idea anymore and that's good.

Re: Animal Crossing: New Horizons Direct No Longer Mentions One-Time-Only Save Data Recovery

Manah

What is cheating in this game even? Time manipulation was an ingame function in NL, so that wasn't it.

Hacking an inconvenient stone out of existence? I know someone who did that, and I wouldn't have noticed because I typically don't go around counting people's stones. And they were happier playing in their own town.

Duplicating items... maybe. But it doesn't hurt me if someome decides to put 50 ice cream lamps in home. The largest ac community is adamantly against even talking about cloning, and even a few years after release I could easily find people paying high prices for my legit Saharah wallpapers. I myself had someone clone a golden watering can for me ONLY because getting one the normal way would have forced me to build my town matching some criteria that go against the "create your own world" spirit I bought the game for.

So, what kind of "cheating" do you need to protect other players from?

Re: Recovering Your Animal Crossing: New Horizons Save Data From Nintendo Is A One-Time-Only Deal

Regarding upgrading the system, some people on my AC forum believe the restriction applies to the save file transfer only, and you can still do a full system transfer to a new device. Has this ever been deconfirmed somewhere? It would be a little strange if you transfer the whole system as is, but one game would be excluded somehow. (If it really does work like that, I wonder if they'll change their mind when people inevitably stop upgrading their systems.)

Re: Feature: Super Rare Games On 2 Years Of Switch Releases And The Future Of Physical Media

Manah

The all-digital future has been touted long before the influx of physical special editions filled with stuff that takes up even more space in your home than just the game. It's almost as if there's a market for these things.

I don't think I really understand where people go where they need to take their entire library with them, but even my cheap carrying case (that I have with me either way if I take my Switch on a trip) has room for 29 cartridges.

Re: Video: How Will Animal Crossing: New Horizons Use amiibo?

Manah

No regular villagers in NL were locked behind cards though? It's been a while since I used them, but I thought it was just the special characters visiting your campsite and selling unique items, and even then you could trade them/buy from other campsites.

The only amiibo-locked villagers I'm aware of were the Splatoon/Zelda/Sanrio ones.
