Re: Talking Point: The Nintendo Switch May Divide Opinion, But It's Made a Splash

MailOrderNinja

I just can't agree with the negativity as the Nintendo Switch as a concept is something I desperately want. I don't know if it's good for mass market consumers, but gamers I know are thrilled.

I'm a married father of 2 and that means a lot of shared TV time. Off TV play on the Wii U is great, but it's range is super limited and not all games took advantage of it. To be able to seamlessly swap to on the go play and take games with me is so exciting.

Thanksgiving next year? Typically in our setting we don't bring consoles, but a console that will have MK8 and likely Smash that I can stand on the table and go is incredible.

Personally the only reservations I have is online play and we can almost rest assured Nintendo will mess that up.

Re: Reaction: Our Early Thoughts on the Nintendo Switch

I'm so happy and relieved with what they showed. Nintendo absolutely nailed this one and I think it offers something wholly unique in the market. I certainly will be waiting on Skyrim Remastered now and will be buying any multi plats on the system for the very clear benefits of also getting it on the go.

Re: Poll: What Do You Think of Pokémon Sun and Moon: Special Demo Version?

MailOrderNinja

It was a kind of baffling demo that I feel didn't offer a very good crosscut of what you can expect from a Pokemon game. I mean, I'm not sure who it was for at all. Existing fans are already buying the game anyway and new fans wouldn't be lured in by that demo.

The most interesting part of the Pokemon games is catching and training your own Pokemon and that is tucked away in a sort of mini game after all the main content.

Re: Fresh Retail Source Reportedly Reinforces and Outlines New Nintendo NX Rumours

MailOrderNinja

I think one thing is painfully clear: this is certainly the handheld hybrid reported by Eurogamer. It just makes too much sense. Cartridges are also almost a sure bet if it is a handheld hybrid. Mario being on deck at launch I'm not sure I believe as I'd expect that Breath of the Wild will be all they need to sell like gangbusters.

The rest I give no credence, especially price talk. I'd imagine it comes in at $300 would be a safe enough bet, but charging much more than that would be extremely risky.

All of these rumors and wild speculation are in Nintendo's lap now. They've worked people into a frenzy and they are devouring every tidbit that comes out. Just announce the thing already.

Re: Editorial: Losing It All - When a Wii U's External Hard Drive Dies

This is an incredibly frustrating situation I've been through as well. On top of that when I got a new system to replace it I had to go through a nightmare situation to get my nintendo account moved over.

I love you Nintendo but get your stuff together. I don't care if you say you aren't competing with Xbox and PlayStation fact is you are competing with them for my time and money. If this stuff isn't fixed I won't be buying an NX.

Re: Nintendo Sends a Lovely Legend of Zelda Care Package in Honour of a Young Fan

@outsider83 I can see that perspective and it does happen as a by product because everything in most people's lives of any significance is shared online with others. However, people tend to forget that real people work at these companies and it would only take one or a group of them to be moved and do this.

Everything nice done for someone else doesn't have to be to make a company or a person look better. It is hurtful to ourselves to carry that sort of cynicism and negativity around. The chance that this was done just as a nice gesture is even more possible than the one that it was done for good publicity.

Re: EA Talks Possible Plans for NX

I really only read it as a placeholder comment since they can't say anything yet. I don't know where people are reading the rest.

EA isn't some evil entity like people enjoy pretending it is and they own fantastic properties like Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Garden Warfare, Battlefront, and more.

Re: Reggie Fils-Aime on Why the Wii U Was Misunderstood

MailOrderNinja

The Wii U failed commercially, but I consider it a fantastic system with exclusives that absolutely trounce the competitions, both quantity and quality.

That being said their biggest mistake was calling it the Wii U which made people think it was some Wii accesory, and everybody was done with the Wii at that point. Their second was not making it technologically competitive which cost them the third party support.

Their biggest was trying to replicate the Wii's success and that crowd has moved on. They need to appeal more to mainstream gamers. I think they have a shot to do that if the specs and rumors are true about this next machine. Most gamers I know have a 3DS and will assuredly buy this. Merging their market is the smartest thing they can do right now.
