Nintendo has just updated the official Japanese website for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild with some stunning new video footage.
Three relatively short clips have been published. The first - which is shown above - focuses on exploration, showing Link running, sailing, climbing and snowboarding around various locations.
The second clip is all about combat, with our hero trading blows with various enemies.
The third and final clip shows how the weather will impact the game's environments.

Breath of the Wild will launch on Wii U and NX next year. Excited yet?

Got to admit, that is one pretty game
Nice. Hopefully wii u footage
It definitely seems like it'll be worth the wait. If there's a special Breath of the Wild themed NX console or collectors edition version of the game, my wallet will be dead.
For a Wii U port, Zelda NX actually looks pretty good.
Why am I too busy to watch this? Grrr!
This feels... hypnotic...
Not to be negative but it doesn't really show anything new from what we seen in trailers before this.
@Xaessya You're right, but it seems like it looks a little bit smoother. I could be entirely wrong about that, but it's a first impression.
1:15 in the first clip. 1080 zelda edition confirmed.
The game looks wonderful, its like a painting come to life, specially the last one.
I was saying that I wouldn't get the NX on launch, but if Breath of the Wild has notable improvements on it and there's a bundle, my resolve will dry faster than a puddle in the sun.
@singingbrakeman
I don't think you're wrong. It may be that they are making it smoother if its the Wii U version, but the trailers run better than at E3. Plus, when link cuts the tree it does look far better than the original trailer.
This looks like Wii U footage to me.
Gameplay looks superb. Visuals look a bit fuzzy, at least at 720p.
The weather video is my favourite. If that represents the in game weather system then we're in for a treat. It seems so dynamic.
Has anyone noticed the music in the original trailer and these trailers sounds like it cuts out halfway through? It must be intentional if it's carried into these trailers but it sounds like an error to me. The only downside to the trailers.
And remember this is via YouTube.
Gosh darn it Nintendo, I need to feel like I'm playing a game.

7.8 (IGN): Too much awesome
If they updated the clips today and also gonna show nx its a big chance its from nx version.
Visuals are definitely improved here and there, but seeing as there is still quite a bit of pop-in, I'm assuming this is still the Wii U version.
Wow...
The footage in the combat one is pure hype.
@Phin68 Think you mean that the other way around
It's nice to see some more story elements taking shape in the footage. What are these pillars, I wonder?
In the whether one, that thing with the flag looks like it could be a mast.
Maybe the result of a dried up sea...?
Optimistic Wind Waker tie in.
Oh great. I get to spend all my time watching Sony game clips wondering if it's the PS4 Slim or Pro version, now I'll get to watch Zelda clips wondering if it's the U or X version.
Well either way, glad to see this. Maybe now w/ NX out of the bag Nintendo can start promoting Zelda. Starting w/ a release date that consists of more than just a year, we've seen that 3 times now.
Looks like it could be a mix of Wii U and NX footage
@rjejr Looks like Wii U, because of the pop-in stuff. Look closely at the part where he's snowboarding and walking through water: pop-in all over the place...
@Damo There's now a fourth video to add to this list of new ones:
@rjejr Nintendo heard your pleas for more Zelda footage. Could you ask them for a new 1080 snowboarding for me?
I swear I'm ready for this game just based on the soundtrack alone.
I might be a little "too" excited.
Looks absolutely fantastic!
@ThanosReXXX Thanks, will add now
EDIT - that's actually from July.
As lovely as this is, I hope it is Wii U footage. I hope for Nintendo's sake that whatever the NX is, it is more powerful. Pixilated close by objects are not cool in 2016/17.
@Ryu_Niiyama Is it OK if I ask for balance board support? I can't go back to sports games w/o motion controls. I skipped Mario Tennis Ultra Smash.
@ThanosReXXX
Watched the vids (not the new 1 you mentioned) and I think my cell shading days are behind me. These vids make me think of a PS2 game remastered on PS3, like WW HD or Zelda TP HD. Too similar in play style to H:ZD and I prefer those graphics. Even U4 in cell shading doesn't do it for me, prefer the original.

@Damo Ah, okay. That's odd, some other sites posted it with the other three, as if to say that it is also part of the new footage.
The wait for this game is torture.
@rjejr That looks decidedly Borderlands-ish. But Breath of the Wild ain't cell-shaded: it's anime style with realistic touches and gouache and it looks like nothing that any 6th gen console would be able to pull off, it really is more demanding than that. If you really think that, then you need to watch them again on a big HD screen and take note of all the tiny touches that make this game so special and ambitious. Considering the pop-in visuals still being present here and there, maybe even a bit too ambitious for the humble Wii U...
Back during the E3 you were impressed after I showed you the higher quality footage and now you're back to NOT being impressed? That's a shame...
And what the hell is H:ZD? I hate all those game title abbreviations...
okay I watched them but there's still 40 minutes until the nx reveal what do I do
Re-Hyped, I preordered it after E3, and normally I don't preorder but I'm a sucker for a good deal, so I did it. My interest was waning, but this has brought it back to life
@Gorlokk read some more rumours, always fun.
@ThanosReXXX Horizon: Zero Dawn

And you're probably right, it isn't cell shading, but it's so bland and washed out. I coudlnt' stand Skyward Sword and this reminds me of that. I liked the vibrant duck scene but everything else seems kind of hazy.
I do recall our discussion over E3 vids, and these are much improved, but I don't like the art style. I did like the hang gliding then shooting arrows in slow motion, that was cool. And the frog was a nice little addition. But I'm still waiting for something special in this game and the NX. That bird from Skyward Sword to fly around on would be nice, I like flight.
Goosebumps :'-)
It's pretty, but I feel like we're just seeing the same areas over and over again. Yes, it's open-world but I'm more interested in Zelda staples such as the story, little towns, mini games, proper dungeons (not those 100 shrines or whatever), side quests, etc. I know Nintendo says this game will have everything but I'm waiting till I see it.
Wow! Breath of the Wild looks absolutely spectacular!
I'm already seeing small innovations that no other developers have put into open-world game design. He misses the ledge...and just claws for a handhold in the broken section of the bridge. It isnt some "push X to hold on!" scenario that we've seen in all other open-world games.
I'm really excited for this release. First, because it looks like a fun game. Second, because other developers will get to learn something and hopefully improve their open-world game structure, it's getting mighty dusty.
@Grawlog Thanks, but he was already ahead of you in explaining that to me...
I keep throwing money at my screen, but nothing's happening yet.
@rjejr By the way: it's official. The Japanese site explicitly mentions all of this is Wii U footage, so we still have no idea of how many improvements (if any) the NX version will have over this one.
@Grawlog and that is exactly why I thanked you anyway. I was sincere, not sarcastic, if that's what you were thinking.
@ThanosReXXX May I be the first to offer my sincerest condolences.
Now excuse me while I go watch the vid a few more times and try to take it all in.
@rjejr Thanks, right back at'cha. Now where's that bottle of Bacardi? And that nuke to end the world...
Yes people, I and all other logical people were wrong and Nintendo has apparently lost it's marbles. Coming out with yet another underwhelming system that no one will buy... Oh, dear...
Maybe I need to take a step back and look at it again when I've calmed down a bit. Right now, I'm not feeling it and I can't see something like this succeeding no matter how much marketing budget you spend on it.

More poison...
@ThanosReXXX Hey, at least you were right about the docking...
Can you set gifs as your desktop background? I want that last video to be my desktop background.
Just beautiful........
Beautiful, especially the weather-effects video (with a proper thunderstorm!)!
@ThanosReXXX @Grawlog Kind of reminds of RDR2 as well, but I like RDR2 better as well.

Well I belive this is Wii U footage now, even if it is NX footage I'm nto sure how much of a difference it's going to make. Not on the go anyway, home can have some hardware in the dock, but the game still has to play on the go, so Wii U and NS versions will be mostly the same. I'm too old to tell the difference between 720p30 and 1080p60. I can tell the difference between Zelda and HZD or RDR2. Not sure I can tell the difference between RDR2 and HZD if it was just the world. Same for Witcher 3, though that might be a bit more pixelated. PC graphics have their own look.
@rjejr Thought you didn't like Wild West games?
That trailer was impressive, though.. and I loved all the previous games too, so probably a must buy for me. Except for which console... ?
@rjejr A bit hard to tell, but watch the beginning of the Switch trailer again on a big HD screen and you'll see the NX, erm... Switch version of Zelda looking quite a bit sharper...
@ThanosReXXX The tv version looks sharper than the handheld? But how does Wii U on the TV compare to NS on the TV? Guess we'll have to wait for Digital Foundry. Though really, I'm sure Wii U version will look good enough for me considering I don't even like the look anyway. And I don't like westerns, just the look of RDR2. I'll never ever play it.
@rjejr No, I meant sharper than the Wii U version.
