Remember a while back when Nintendo and Twitch partnered up to offer free subscriptions to Nintendo Switch Online? Well, that deal is just about to come to an end.
Earlier this year, it was revealed that Amazon Prime members could use their Twitch Prime benefits to snag a 12-month subscription to Nintendo's online service. It's relatively simple to do - just head on over to Twitch - but you only have one week left to claim your membership. Here's a snippet of an official FAQ on the matter which was posted earlier this year:
"First-time users will no longer be able to claim the Nintendo Switch Online offer after September 24th, 2019. If you claim the first offer before that time, you will be able to claim the additional 9-month membership offer after 60 days if you remain an active Twitch Prime member. Both offers must be redeemed before January 22nd, 2020."
The 24th September cut off is for the initial free subscription of three months - after that date, you won't be able to claim anything from the offer at all. As long as you claim your initial three months by then, though, you'll still be able to claim your remaining nine months up until 22nd January.
Remember, these free months of Nintendo Switch Online can be added on to your existing subscription, so you may as well claim them now to extend your membership. The deal is only available for those on Individual plans, however, and cannot be used by those currently enjoying a Family subscription.
Thanks to Jacques for the tip!

if you share your Prime benefits with another family member, (As I do) can you claim twice?
Tread carefully. When I did this there was an attempt to intercept my Amazon account details reported by my internet security software. 've since heard that Twitch accounts have been hacked many times in the past which is a concern if it's now linked to your Amazon account.
A bit silly I can’t claim as i have a family membership that is almost up, I mean why can’t they just send me a code over 🙄
@wolvesboy because a family membership costs more money and they aren’t willing to give those away for free
If it was a little bit easier to link the accounts and so... Damn, internet is getting more and more complicated as time goes... I guess I´m getting old for this kind of stuff.
This was a great deal seeing as I've had Prime for a couple years now, and now have NSO paid up through October 2020.
@BarefootBowser yup, me too!
I use Amazon but never tried Prime, is it worth tho? I barely do online shopping, I already have Netflix/Spotify for the Amz Vid/Mus, and sometimes I use Twitch but I believe only would get benefits from NSW since I dont play all those other games to get extra goodies.
I personally only use Amazon Prime when a free trial is on offer, and it just so happens that I have one right now. At least I got the three months for free. I don't know if I will get the 9 month extension since it I won't be an active member when it becomes available. I honestly don't know when it will be available.
@StarViruZ Amazon Prime is only really worth it if you take advantage of the benefits provided. Basically for the price of the Standard Netflix Streaming sub ($13) you get a limited video service (including Amazon Originals), a limited Spotify service (2 mil songs vs 50 mil), a limited version of the Kindle Unlimited service (Prime Reading), free shipping, Twitch Prime sub (free PC games), access to Audible exclusive podcasts/channels, and access to deals.
For me, it's less about the shipping and more about having a small sample of all the above. But if you don't use all the benefits it isn't really a good deal.
Wait...I have Amazon Prime but no interest in Twitch. Do I just automatically have Twitch? So I could take advantage of this deal? Hmmmm
@imgrowinglegs Yup! Just head over to the website. I don't use Twitch at all, but I still stop by once a month to redeem all my freebies.
Saves me over $400 a year after cost.
@BillyB you gotta set up 2FA
@imgrowinglegs Yes...Amazon bought Twitch, so if you have Amazon Prime, you also have Twitch Prime, you just have to set up an account.
@MrJed you mean 2 Twitch prime accounts benefits for Just one Nintendo account? If that's your question the answer is no, I already tried It.
@imgrowinglegs
Yes... at least go give your free Twitch Prime Sub to a streamer each month... plenty of Mario Maker streamers that you might as well support at no cost to you
yup got my switch online till next year's September :}
@ALinkttPresent still at least let me have a code so when my family plan expires I can use it for myself
Ok! I am getting the message from YouTube’s ad about the GMC Terrain that if I get Pokemon Shield the new Mega Man game is going to get cancelled. And now I am getting the message that if I don’t do what this article’s header is saying there will definetly be none whatsoever so that I have one week to get my Nintendo Switch Lite!
I wanted this but I'm on a family plan.
@holygeez03 Thanks for the tip. I have a buddy who streams, so I’ll sub her channel. (littleredkat, if you’re looking for someone to follow! Haha)
Wished they were more clear about claiming the 9 months, since the first 3 was easy. Turns out you have to be the actual owner of Amazon Prime to get the 9 months. Never knew about this until I contacted Amazon support, Prime is only being shared with me.
Thankfully my mom is the owner so I was able to easily log in with her account and grabbed the 9 months. xD
My brother and I put a calendar alert for when to apply for the next 9 😅. Only use it to feel safe about my saves when I travel for work.
Hopefully they do it again next year or we get local saves by the time my 12 months end.
@BillyB My twitch was just hacked and they changed my email to a different @xxx.com, it was two times first South Korea then Wisconsin; so I went to amazon and other sites I had linked to twitch, Unlinked them all made a new twitch account different email password and re-linked everything with the new account.
That's true they're getting hacked I don't know why you're getting down-voted at all. Just keep email notifications on; I got sent an email that said after 24 hours it would confirm that email change and I didn't see it until a few days later. They can have it It's not linked to anything anymore lol
