In today's Nintendo Direct we got to see a bit more of Astral Chain, the new synergetic action game from PlatinumGames headed to the Switch on 30th August this year. You can see the latest footage in the video above.
In the game humanity’s last chance against an interdimensional invasion is a sentient weapon called the Legion. As a rookie officer in an elite police task force, players will work together with their Legion to solve cases and save humankind. Players can change Legions on the fly to vary their style and unleash stylish combos. As they save the world from extradimensional invaders called chimeras, they’ll also interact with citizens, question suspects and team up with members of their task force to solve cases.
Additionally, a Collector’s Edition will be available in Europe, containing a 152-page artbook, a Shikishi art board with an illustration by character designer Masakazu Katsura, and a soundtrack CD, all in a high-quality box and sleeve.
It all sounds rather lovely we have to say, let us know if you have your eye on this one with a comment below.

That trailer was off the chain!
I just need to have the Switch surgically attached to my hands at this point.
This looks soooooo good!
This game got me hyped. Can't wait until it the 30th of August
This looks amazing. I just want the story to deliver...
Really excited for this one. Hopefully it ends up being as good as it looks because it looks amazing.
Amazing, can't wait!... Been a good few years for Platinum fans.
And still 2 more games after this - good times!
Yeah, this is looking good. Real good.
This game is looking great. It seems I will have to buy it.
Hype hype hype chain
I personally would NOT normally expect to be interested in this genre of game, but for some reason I have been really hyped for it ever since it was announced.
But I’m still thinking, will this game be open world or linear?
As others have said, the game is looking good. Might give it a go if I have the time! Too many games are releasing during the second half of the year!
The more I see of this game, the more I NEED it!
That's a lot sooner than I'd expected!
And with an old beardo pushing his galsses up and going "at this rate" the anime clichés are in full force! Beautiful!
My most anticipated game right here.
The release date has been...unchained!
Great trailer, so many games....
Great trailer I Need this one and I Need it now
@StarViruZ I believe it will be in Chapters similar to Bayonetta. Open world with a game that looks like this will be incredibly intensive on the hardware in my opinion. Cannot wait to play it!
@StarViruZ seems linear to me, but time will tell
Possibly my most anticipated Switch game for the year. Day 1.
Looking great. Can't wait for this one.
On the fence still with this one. The visuals are a little too CG for me. Everything kinda looks like a hologram and I just am not a fan of it.
Also I both love and hate the idea. "Inter-dimensional beings are invading so we capture them and sync with them to fight back, but it might have horrible side effects"
I mean, nothing there is original. Nothing. It still sounds cool, but we will see.
@Pod The release date isn't new information. It was revealed along with the game back then.
This one, I will need buy!
This game looks so very mediocre.
I really want that collector's edition of Astral Chain. I really love the art style and music of this game, and I'm sold on getting it no matter what. I overlooked the PEGI rating at the bottom right corner on a trailer that GameSpot posted on YouTube and seriously exhausted myself trying to look for it in the US. Hopefully they announce it tomorrow during Day 2 of TreeHouse coverage or I will have to import it if they fail me.
I'm planning to buy this.
They showed more gameplay for Astral Chain after the Direct and it looks amazing

Platinum Games is one of those studios only making must-buy game, except when they develop a new Star Fox.
cant wait for this game it looks great
