Re: Poll: So, Did You Order A Nintendo Switch 2?

Lalivero

The world isn't ending, but this mess of a pre-order system(like any that turns into a crap show) has killed my interest in even trying to get one atm, which I don't actually expect to be readily available for now.

I'm still hyped since my current Switch has...issues, but maybe by the time stock is actually steady, I'll decide to get one; dunno. Most of the games I want won't be out on launch anyways.

Re: Talking Point: The Switch 2 Pre-Order Situation Sucks, But Can Nintendo Do Anything About It?

Lalivero

As someone who works nights, this kinda thing never works out in my favor ha. I do not have a pre-order and kinda doubt I will see one initially, with how things currently are. 🫤 All the site meltdowns meant I simply could not focus on hoping one came back online.

I'll be working when Gamestop (or anyone else for that matter) does the midnight launch and don't see them holding stock for their actual opening time later in the morning.

Re: Talking Point: Has Nintendo Done Enough To Justify Splatoon 3's Existence?

Lalivero

@westman98 Well some of them have a chance at getting good revivals like Kid Icarus now they only have one system to devote to and can be a lil 'risky'. We don't even get MK9 yet somehow Splatoon gets two sequels this suddenly? Why not just have kept 2 alive? Some of the blatant bs...er excuses have been 'oh we need the right hardware or whatever...is that code for crap sales putting a series on hold? Dunno.

Yeah still doesn't make sense to me but it is what it is.

Re: Grand Theft Auto Trilogy Has "Done Just Great" Despite Disastrous Launch

Lalivero

The only way to salvage it to any kinda degree would be to release the physical game: in a more playable state, -all- on the cart, and at a damn discount... lulwutttt.

I'd be shocked if this even got a physical version at all now... is there even an -actual- release window? I could've gotten the game at over half off with my eshop credit + the discount they just had goin, but nahhhh. That's just how little faith I have that they actually care about it.

This was a biiiiiig and surprise release for Switch. : Maybe I'll consider it down the road when I eventually get a PS5 and it's heavily discounted.

Re: Doug Bowser: Switch OLED Off To A "Solid Start", Many Units Bought By Pre-Existing Switch Owners

Lalivero

@rallydefault Who's miserable? That half attempt at sarcasm comes across as more miserable; I'm in a good mood and just speaking my exact view on it.

The joy con are still a mess that they vaguely address(ie they don't care) and it has features that should've been there from the jump that are being used to justify a premium price point(when it should be more in line with the current price and slash the og model, if anything).

But hey, it has a nice screen that, barring a pro Switch appearance beforehand, I still want to get a hold of. Where did you get 'misery' out of that? ☠️☠️☠️

Re: GTA Trilogy Is Very Close To Receiving The Worst Ever Switch User Review Score On Metacritic

Lalivero

This is just so...sad. We finally got the attention of a -biiiig- series arriving on Switch and this happens, which could only serve for yet another developer to act like it's our fault and nobody is interested. How in the heck do you mess up stuff like this though?

Only saving grace is it s'posedly being a hot mess across all platforms. Anyone know how any casuals are taking it?

I'm likely still going to wait and see what's on the physical edition next month because I do want this, so I'm hoping they can alleviate some of this migraine before then.

Re: Video: 15 Exciting New Games Coming To Nintendo Switch In November

Lalivero

There are a few things here that got my attention(A Boy and his Blob, Shining Pearl, etc), even if I'm pretty much halted as far as games now because of priorities.

The big thing I'm torn on is GTA. It's the -rare- exception where I wouldn't be against just saying screw it and get the download copy but makes me want to wait to see exactly what is on the physical card before I make that decision. It sucks because I hate this half-assed physical practice for that price but I do really hope it sells well on Switch because this is big as far as releases go if it can please Rockstar.

Re: Should I Buy A Switch OLED? Which Nintendo Switch Is Best For Me?

Lalivero

@Wavey84 Does the screen look nice? Ofc. Lemme clarify though... is it worth the upgrade -price- to me? Heck nah. I'm not shelling out full price + $50 extra just for a more colorful screen, when things look perfectly fine on my og Switch and it functions exactly the same.

Like I said, if they actually improved on the things(ie joy con) that actually needed fixing, I would probably think to jump on the OLED model as a bundle, or even if they sold the unit itself by itself(like they do every other component - dock, joy con).

Re: Should I Buy A Switch OLED? Which Nintendo Switch Is Best For Me?

Lalivero

I play pretty much solely handheld and I don't see this as anything worthwhile. As a few others have chimed I'm about, something like fixed joy con or them selling the actual unit itself(no joy con, dock, or anything else) might've grabbed my attention; alas...

@Matl Fortunately I have not been stuck at home, but even on the odd lazy day at home I can't remember the last time I've played my Switch docked, tbh with you. I'll play it during a commercial before I connect it to the TV.

It's kinda hilarious when you consider the fact that the Lite doesn't appeal to me since I do like the option of being able to dock it, even if I virtually never use it(and I have one of those portable docks since my og dock stopped working).

@rockodoodle My back panel came all the way off(was flimsy anyways, so I replaced it with a transparent orange one which I love), the og cheap kickstand is missing, and I'm pretty sure my left slider rail is broken, but like you I'm just going to stick with my og standard for the foreseeable future. Keep holdin' on, yo.

Re: Random: The Internet Reacts To The New Switch OLED Model

Lalivero

@1ofUs As someone who pretty much plays handheld only, personally this is far from a 'gift'. ☠️☠️☠️ I can't see myself getting this unless somehow my current og Switch spontaneously combusts.

The 6.2in screen is more than enough for a 'handheld' and them blatantly ignoring stuff like natural bluetooth audio and the joy con issue(both of which would have caught my interest as a handheld person)... yeah; they're charging $50 more for something that hardly fixes anything.

At the least this thing could've naturally been priced exactly what we pay now and caused the og model to drop.

Re: After Months Of 'Switch Pro' Rumours, Nintendo Officially Unveils The Nintendo Switch OLED Model

Lalivero

@TryToBeHopeful Didn't Furukawa straight up apologize for 'joy con issues' after Ninty kept tryna downplay the problem and the lawsuits and everything kept snowballing?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that sounds like admitting they are bad. Announcing a set that fixes/addresses the issue would be a noteworthy announcement to appease the drama surrounding them(not saying they would but this only makes people expect the ones in this 'new' model to be the same crap they currently are /js).

Re: After Months Of 'Switch Pro' Rumours, Nintendo Officially Unveils The Nintendo Switch OLED Model

Lalivero

If they had fixed the hot mess that are the joy con(which would be super strange to not announce, since it's an infamous hiccup), I would've bought this simply out of celebration.

I play handheld almost entirely and can't exactly say I'm excited for this. Not a thing in this is worth $50 more when the og model should've dropped in price to give way for this to enter at the current $300 tag at least.

It is kind of hilarious though that, maybe minus the screen size(the 6.2 we currently have is pretty nice size wise as is), everything offered here is what the og model should've been, as some others have stated.

Re: Random: What's Happened To Bayonetta 3, Platinum?

Lalivero

I'm honestly not as pressed on a timeframe as I am that we found out about it almost 4 years ago and don't know -anything- about it outside of the fact(if we can even call it fact at this point) that it exists. That's what is strange.

Re: Nintendo's Just Dropped A Free Demo For Miitopia On Switch

Lalivero

@SwitchVogel I mean the only thing I wouldn't mind is Ever Oasis(or more interesting, a sequel or something), but good grief I hope not....

The Switch is starting to be stripped of its own identity as is, if you ask me(what with all the old third party stuff being ported as well). I understand we are going through some tough times but this started even before then. 3DS had a far more widespread grab than Wii U, so I can understand the latter to a degree.

@rockodoodle Seriously ...esp if they gon cost a full $50-60 for no reason. #sike

Re: Nintendo's Future Is Focused On New IP And "Staple Series"

Lalivero

@Dr_Lugae Of course you can't just expect to save everrryyy IP they have because that's a hella list, but why not do an occasional release on the odd dormant IP to gauge the potential in them?(akin to what they did for Kid Icarus with Awakening).

Doesn't have to be like yearly releases but you can tell after a certain point they be acting like they are dry on IP and then we have cases like Splatoon 3 popping up so soon. It's even more noticeable when they started focusing on a lone console. At least with two, they could mask that more by making similar releases for each.

@MrGawain Not saying it was some sorta super iconic game, but, like the games you listed, how is there not potential to actually do something with it? Could be a dual character(ie Unravel) mountain platformer/adventure or something. The fact that the og game is so... bare bones could be the opening to revisiting some new idea(s) with the IP.

If you want an example of something else that could fall under the umbrella you're presenting, try Kirby. Aside from his sucking ability, what the hell are his games even? What's holding N&P from having some sorta ability...or are they doomed to stay in the land of irrelevancy simply because their og adventure ain't have much going on(on a limited system)? 🤔🤔

Re: Nintendo's Future Is Focused On New IP And "Staple Series"

Lalivero

Ik this is PR speak but how in the hell can you expect a past series to grow or potentially become a staple of sorts when you aren't even trying to give it/them a chance?

It may be guaranteed money, but all these resources thrown into/wasted on stuff like constant remakes and stuff that could use some cool down time like Splatoon(we couldn't even get a new MK yet somehow they find the time to make Splatoon 3 just a few years after the 2nd).

@MrGawain Well please feel free to explain something like Ice Climbers not getting another shot, as an example, cause you can't tell me they have -no- ideas on even a small downloadable entry when it comes to something as ancient as that.

The sad thing about Golden Sun though(the og being my favorite duo of games) is that it seems pretty clear it was probably just meant to be that standalone gamecube title before they moved it to gba w/ a split. :l I think Camelot is intentionally stalling for years at a time at this point.

Re: Talking Point: Which Old Game Series Would You Like To See Revived?

Lalivero

I wanna see if Ninty does anything with Ice Climbers buttttt....

...speaking of revival, why does Camelot keep toying with us with Golden Sun??? ☠️☠️☠️ We waited 8 years after TLA to get Dawk Dawn back in 2010 and now we are over a decade past that. I know it was probably weird af tryna continue a story on from the original duo and it left a bit of a sour taste in comparison, but it's like they are intentionally testing our patience.

And it's not really a series on its own obv, but ughhhh I wish we could get another Pokémon Colosseum/XD sequel. :3

Re: Poll: Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury Is Out Today On Switch, Are You Getting It?

Lalivero

I'm probably one of the rare people that owned a Wii U yet did not get this game the first time, so you'd think it'd be an easy buy but I'm still 100% undecided for now.

A game like this seems to be built around the multiplayer experience at the expense of solo, and I would have nobody to play with, so idk; internet is crap where I currently live, you can't really go out anywhere to enjoy it at a café, and I have nobody I know local to play it with, so ... I'ma probably have to pass on this [again] in the end, ha.

Re: Poll: Will You Be Buying The Cloud Version Of Hitman 3 On Nintendo Switch?

Lalivero

@Peach64 I couldn't give a flyin' fadoodle about a box rn, tbh(even if it's a nice touch). If anything, something like the Switch's carts take up hardly any space, even in numbers, but that's my take.

Anyways, to fuse some of the reasons above that I'm in line with:

  • I'm not wasting these kinda prices on a game like this, where I get virtually nothing on my end.
  • To go along with the above, I'm not paying these kinda prices for something I wake up to tomorrow and they had decided to shut down the server so, boom, it's gone. Could that happen with other forms? Sure, but, at least for now, you can get back stuff you already purchased and downloaded. With a totally playable version you could also play with internet off and retain them pretty much indefinitely, as long as your system/physical media holds up. With cloud, they're just simply gone.
  • With games like this, I'd much rather not be tethered to an internet connection to be able to play regardless.
  • I live in a rural area where the internet is bs enough where I would get zero enjoyment out of a cloud game, except maybe a brief laugh @ how ridiculous it performs.

Is it a nice alternative if you are able to reliably play and it's your sorta thing? Ofc. If you want to grab my attention though(for whenever I'd actually be able to even use the service), like someone suggested above, it'd make more sense to be part of an actual rental service($X for Y week(s)), at a [much] more affordable pricing point to boot. And I don't even sub to Netflix or any of that.
