Triangle Strategy is still a little while off from its March release, but despite its questionable name it's definitely on our 'highly anticipated' list. From the team that brought us the excellent Octopath Traveler, this time we can look forward to turn-based tactics that brings certain Square-Enix developed games of the past to the mind.
Nintendo has now released a new and extended trailer that gives a pretty big overview of the cast, some plotlines, gameplay and of course the rather nice visuals. If you want to go into the game completely fresh it perhaps has mild spoilers, but in general it does a nice job of building anticipation.
Many of us played the demo, of course, though the developers acted on plenty of feedback; hopefully this will meet high expectations.
Are you excited about Triangle Strategy? Let us know in the comments.

Just let me have an advance copy Squeenix. I won’t tell anyone.
Never bothered playing the demo, mainly because I don't need to. Confident that I'm going to really like this one so I'm looking forward to release.
i acutally love the name, precisly for how stupid is is. i mean, TRIANGLE STRATGEY!?
This will be my most anticipated 2022 title ever. My hope is that after this Square Enix remake all the old Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy games in this style. Those pixel remasters are decent but pales in comparison to the styles of Octopath and Triangle.
Just call this how it is A new Final Fantasy Tactics
hope the story is a bit more coherent than octopath traveler
Awesome! This is my #1 anticipated non-Nintendo game coming. The gameplay and story in the trailer was fantastic.
So hyped about this game! It's looking better and better.
I’m not a strategy guy, but damn this game looks good. I might do it, based on looks alone. Very pretty.
Looks nuts. L. F. G.
@vidje Give me FF Tactics combat and level of storytelling with Octopath graphics and this could be my favorite switch game.
Oooo I can't wait for this!
@Arckadius Thats the rub on this game for me!
I avoided Octopath Traveller because it sounded like the story was a real dud and I can't imagine plunking time into an RPG with a poor narrative
It definitely sounds like a game your geometry teacher tries, to make class fun. It may be, but the name is a big turn off for me.
Take a hint from Sony and cram buzzwords together to make a title.
Horizons Zero Triangle
Just amazing!
Really love the style of this game.
Octopath traveler was so addictive, and this one looks like it will top even that.
Just give me Octopath Traveler 2 please. I prefer traditional JRPGs to RTS games.
Yes that is a snazzy new trail they have given Triangle Strategy.
Bring on the strategery!
We've been waiting for so long for a successor in the Tactics series (FF/Ogre) and it's almost here!
It's gonna be amazing!
One of my most anticipated games for 2022, probably second only to The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero.
Looks amazing and I love the combat. I just hope that the story is much better compared to Octopath Traveler
I’m really digging this. This visuals are absolutely stunning!
Makes me want to jump back in to octopath
I mean, day one buy at full price but even by fantasy standards these are some truly and hilariously nonsensical character names.
Give me a new Tactics Ogre game please
Perhaps the game to be released in 2022 that I'm looking forward to the most, as tactical RPGs are my favorite subgenre and Square Enix made some of my favorites (in particular FFT and the remake of Tactics Ogre for PSP). Hopefully Triangle Strategy is as good as it looks.
@CaptainRPG Wouldn't call it a new FFT. Gameplay-wise, yes, probably, but story, setting and vibe are more Octopath meets Suikoden.
Looks amazing, could easily be an early goty for me.
Watching that reminded me that I need to finish Octopath Traveler. I love how this game looks, but I'm not a huge fan of tactical RPGs, and the name is only slightly better than Octopath Traveler.
March 2022 can't get here soon enough!
Ok Square, I would love see an action based game next in this art style and engine similar to the Mana series. We've got a turn based JRPG and now a tactics strategy game, how about an ARPG to round it out? The art style is gorgeous. I'll even allow you to put a number reference in the title.
Graphics Engine was preventing me from buying Octopath. Now Triangle. I know I'm minority but I absolutely don't like these graphics. Everything looks kinda... blurred.
Am I the only one seeing this?
It's so sad because I'm all for TBS games.
@Coxula Not the only one seeing it. The spritework is a bit blurry. I am guessing to make it less pixely.
I also don't think you are in the minority. Maybe in the minority of general JRPG fans, but that's okay. You don't have to like everything.
I personally love this style, but I don't like Xenoblade for example. Different strokes and all that.
@Specter_of-the_OLED I'm really, really hoping Final Fantasy Tactics is next on the HD2D list after DQIII !!
I'm not really in the mood for another strategy RPG at present. But I loved the style and game of Octopath Traveler, and this game just looks and sounds so damn sexy. I'll have to add it to my list, but I'm going to wait for a good discount before I leap in.
