Free-to-play 3DS eShop title Pokémon Shuffle has just been updated to version 1.1.1.
The update requires you to redownload the game - that's a 686 block download - and "Check In" again to access the Event stages.
The patch is listed as supplying necessary bug fixes, and without it you can't Check In, access Event stages or purchase jewels.
Pokémon Shuffle was one of the titles impacted by the 3DS browser hack, which was recently patched by a 3DS firmware update.
We awarded the game 7 out of 10, stating "Pokémon Shuffle is a fantastic match-three puzzle game marred by an uncharacteristically sleazy suite of microtransactions, and your ability to enjoy the former will hinge directly on how well you can ignore the latter."

Still free to play after the patch? Still not downloading.
@XCWarrior
What do you mean still free?
This glitch is still working?
Because of that glitch thing i started playing and i enjoy it.
I won't use that glitch never. There is no reson to do that.
What is it to waiting 2h 30 minutes for 5 hearts? Its nothing.
@DontPlayDumb I hope you're being sarcastic.
"Updated To Version 1.1.1"
Sounds more like a patch - like @xcwarrior said - than an update. An update I would expect to change the game somewhat, like new and improved, if this is really simply removing a glitch that was letting you cheat I really don't see it as an update, more of a downgrade
I thought the "glitch" was already removed with the System update?
Slightly less free to play than before.
@Yiffy
I don't know what you mean.
I get interested in game because of this glitch thing and started playing it.
But i never used that glitch because there is no reason.
Really fun game. I'll be applying the update/patch when I get home from work. Does the patch come with any Jewels? How about the daily pokemon-have they been updated? It's always the same Rotoms every week so far.
On a side note, I've been collecting every Pokemon before moving on, I'm currently stuck on the mega stone for Slowbro.
How is the micro transactions sleazy? You can play it without buying anything.
Really don't get the hate for this game, the fact that I have not paid a single penny for a fantastic licenced Pokemon puzzle game is amazing! And there really isn't any need to put money towards it either, 5 tries before waiting is perfectly long enough for dip in and out gameplay which fits well with the genre!
@Thecoolmana777 Maybe people hating on it are the ones that haven't even played it. I mean, the model is not perfect (the later stages are kind of a pain) but it still allows you to play through the whole game without spending anything
@No-longer-postin Yeah but now people have to update if they want to continue to get events etc., and that involves having to update the system to get onto the eShop
I think the hate has died out. When they announced this game was going to be "free to play" with transactions....even though they clearly said that your lives would regenerate over time, I think people were confused.
I'll admit it, I enjoy Candy Crush; so when Nintendo announced this game I was all over it!
I've gotta admit, I've been enjoying this game more than I thought I would. It works great in short bursts between Majora's Mask sessions or when I simply don't have the time to get into something more intensive like Majora in general. I have yet to spend a penny on this game and never will (and haven't even used the free jewels the game gives you yet) but I'm enjoying it for what it is.
That being said I was a little disappointed after reading the article here. I was actually a little excited when I saw the headline thinking this was some update with new event pokemon or special stages. I have to agree with the other people who are saying this is basically just a patch.
Well, as I already unlocked all the Poke'Mon, I don't think I'm gonna be playing anymore, so there's no need for me to update the game.
Too bad they couldn't link this game to the free Poke'Dex... I still am missing so many from that!
I don't even play it often, so I have no idea how many hearts I have now, so the game works out fine for me. Each time I play it free, I'm voting with my wallet how I feel about this game. I will play it when I can, which I can only tolerate it for short burst, play other bigger more important games in my backlog, and will come back another day. Nothing to get worked up about.
Still doesnt feel as "Good" as the games its copying. That is, getting combos doesn't shoot off nearly as much dopamine or whatever as candy crush does...don't know if its in the sounds, or animation, or what.
Also, I can't STAND that the game insists on instantaneously showing you where a combo is by drawing squares around moves. I could understand maybe it doing it once...or after awhile, like in mobile games. But IMMEDIATELY? Come on.
Good riddens. I have a huge library of eshop indie titles and don't think for one minute that I'll buy into the micro-transactions scam. I'm looking forward to that new Puzzles and Dragons game, though. Match-3 style games can be fun. Even my mom got hooked on Bejeweled 3.
So exactly what has changed? What glitches or cheats were there before the patch?
So... I just got this game yesterday and I don't understand the hostility towards it... it makes me wonder how many people actually tried it. so... you can spend money to buy gems to make it so.... you don't have to wait? How is that a hard thing to do? The game itself is pretty fun and waiting to get the hearts isn't that big of a deal.
@ikki5
The hate is unwarranted. I hate microtransactions as much as anyone, but this game isn't that bad with them. You can play 5 turns every three hours for free which is about as long as I'd want to anyway. You can pay money to make the game a lot easier, but you definitely don't have too and I never have. The game also doesn't require you to bug the crap out of your friends to move onto new levels like certain microtransactions games do.
I just picked this u[p a couple days ago too and I find the micro-transactions very fair. I think the game would grate on me after awhile if the 5 hearts per 2.5 hrs limit was not in place so it's perfect for picking up every once in awhile, and I actually carry my 3DS XL with me everywhere now just to check on it when a couple hours have passed in my day, and I can play a couple more stages.
It's a pretty fun game, and reminds me of Candy Crush which is good because I enjoyed that game until they put up a pay wall that required me to either use my friends to get more progress or pay to continue. At least Pkmn Shuffle doesn't have that feature. (yet.)
I actually like games like this. I never spend any money on them. And, in fact, it's built in such a way that without limiting the gameplay to 20 minute bursts it would actually probably lose its appeal much quicker. So the hearts don't bother me.
