Re: Feature: What's It Like To Attend Gamescom 2025?

@antdickens I did, but I believe you took a train to MUC? (It doesn’t specify in the article as far as I can see)
Trains between Cologne and Frankfurt are usually less of an issue due to the short distance and the frequency.
Taking a train across half the country will set you for disaster. That’s for certain with our Deutsche Bahn.
Oh, Nlife is based close to Ashby? That’s pretty cool. I hope you have some sort of connection also to Rare, then. ^^

@antdickens
Next time, better eat at the Press Center. They have decent sausages for a lower price, and lots of seating opportunities.
Also, welcome to GC. I have attended every year since 2003, most of them as press member.
And funny to hear that you came from BHX, as I occasionally land there on business trips to Ashby. My advice: Don’t have a stop over in Munich, but land in Frankfurt and then take a train to Cologne.

@Medic_alert The Internet isn’t all that bad in all places. Gamefaqs is still a great place for well-written guides of all kinds.
Sincerely,
somebody who has written several guides there himself in the past.

@SoIDecidedTo Both the US and EU cover use the same picture, but the US cover cuts off the picture on the sides. You can see more of the picture on the EU cover. Thus, the EU cover is clearly the better one.
Also that quip about the 70 mini games on the US cover is just tacky as hell.

Re: Palworld Dev Announces "Disappointing" Game Changes Resulting From Nintendo's Lawsuit

@Spider-Kev Maybe newer PlayStation controllers have a dpad, but the ones on PS1 and 2 certainly did not. You could e.g. play DDR on those, as it allowed for pressing opposite directions at the same time (up and down or left and right), because they were individual buttons.
By 2005 Nintendo‘s patent expired, so Sony might have taken their design afterwards. I don’t know. Haven’t had a Sony system after PS2.
And Microsoft has round discs with a cross on them. Also different from Nintendo‘s D pad.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: 1080° Avalanche

KeeperBvK

Two terrible shades of boring.
I am usually not one to say „both are terrible“, but here we are.
Also, nobody thinks that the Western Cover seems to be depicting an avalanche? It just happens to be drawn in such a nothingburger fashion that it’s even hard to tell if it is an avalanche, or just some snow flakes blown up by the boarder.

Re: Opinion: Oh No, I'm Not A Fan Of Switch 2's Mouse Mode At All

@The_Nintend_Pedant
Thank you! It always annoys me greatly to see more and more people calling Metroid Prime an FPS. It feels like around the launch of the first game more people understood that it’s in fact an action-Adventure involving shooting that happens to be viewed from first person.
It‘s the perfect transition into 3D for the series, keeping the original feeling intact. So why would people call it an FPS?

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Tomodachi Life

Hating the NA one. The coloring is bad, the cover is way too cluttered and why are the syllables colored differently? Because Americans would not be able to properly pronounce the title otherwise?

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Klonoa: Empire of Dreams (GBA)

KeeperBvK

„it's making extra use of the landscape orientation here to increase the size of the protagonist“
I will never understand this odd perspective Nlife always has here. The JP GBA boxes do not add extra space. It’s the same space Ina different orientation. In the hands of a good designer, the Western boxes can be used to add more space to an artwork on the y axis, while in Japan it’s the x axis.
And in this particular case, the JP box cuts off Klonoa‘s foot, while the EU version shows it in it’s entirety.

Re: Best Nintendo Switch Games Of 2024

LOL. All the comments mention Unicorn Overlord as #1, but that has changed. Now its‘s SMTVV, i.e. a technically good game that still got a lot of flak for Atlus‘s business decisions surrounding it.
