I never played any of them. But I loved YDKJ back in the day on PC.

LOL, hyperbole much? Sure, in Japan it’s a phenomenon, and it probably has some fans in the US, but in Europe barely anyone ever cared for the NES entries, and „hugely beloved worldwide“?

They should rather make sure to have enough stock. Was super disappointed that all the big cushions were sold out around noon despite them only selling one per person. Ridiculous stock strategy that entirely soured my visit.

Let’s see if they at least bother releasing them in this tiny market called Europe. With Dragalia Lost they sure enough didn’t for whatever reason.

I know I am late, but: Nintendolife doesn’t choose the highlights. They merely regurgitate Nintendo‘s press release, so Ninty chooses the highlights. NLife only adds their little touch in the article‘s sub-header.

@BANJO That's fair enough, though my Ngage looks just rough. The "Nokia" label above the screen is barely readable anymore, so I guess mine isn't worth all that much anymore. ^^
Fortunately, I have quite a few sealed games, and even some of the heavy hitters.
With Ngage, it always seems to me like there really are just 2 kinds of games in terms of values. You have the (just value-wise) junk like the ones you mentioned or Tony Hawk, Rayman, etc. and then you have games that fetch really nice money like Warhammer, the Atari Collections, Civilization, etc.
Very little inbetween.
And at least from my European POV the two regional exclusives (NCAA in the US and Sega Rally in Australia) are quite valuable as well.

@BANJO A fellow Ngage collector? Nice. I also have a full set. Love that little device. Used to be my actual phone for a couple of years. Even took it to E3 2005, playing Pathway to Glory on the bus to the exhibition center.

I had a sizeable collection for both systems as a kid and didn't even own a single Sunsoft game on either. Their SNES output was hardly anything to write home about...

I love 80s & 90s anime style, but the JP cover looks just super cheap, flat and boring. Plus, it doesn’t fit the series at all, as it was always leaning heavily into 80s Hollywood action flick aesthetics.

The saltiness in the comments section is amazing. People really expect e.g. a more-or-less direct port of an admittedly great game from 20 years ago to be nominated for GOTY, but they complain about a meaty DLC being nominated? If that DLC was released separately, then suddenly it would magically be ok?

EU easily as it shows how you can alter nouns in fun ways. That’s what the game is about. US cover is ok but generic.

@JohnnyMind When it‘s slated to open in late 2024, you expect them to present it in early 2025? Why would they present it after opening?

I like the drawing style of the JP cover, but not what they did with it. Not a pretty cover by any means. I prefer the Western one as is at least shows the mix of realism and Mario wackiness subtly in its background composition.

Back when SS released, I had played RPG and Paper before, and I was utterly disappointed in SS by comparison. To me it was ok-ish, I guess, but nothing more.

@PKDuckman I know I am late, but: There were even four of those collections. Just, 2 of them were only released in Japan. Love them so much I bought them all.

That’s exactly why I never liked Mario Galaxy 1. It had plenty of open spaces that were just empty. It often felt so pointless and sloppily designed.
Galaxy 2 fortunately rectified this, by really leaning into being more focused and linear.

Last time I trusted this site with their recommendation of a „very British game“, I ended up buying Horace, and yeah, that was a blunder…

@CupidStunt Oh yeah, I have been to Japan probably more than ten times, both privately and for business, as I work for a Japanese company.
USJ is in our list, and our son is too young for the rollercoasters, so I guess we will be mostly fine, as rides for kids tend to not be as crowded in all of these kinds of parks.
I will consider getting the Exprwss pass for the Nintendo part, though. Thanks for the recommendation.
And I have also been checking the status of the DK ride again and again, alas to no avail yet. They keep the opening date really secret after the delay. ^^

I wonder why so many people like the pixel cover of the US, saying that it helped show what the game really looks like…that’s what the screenshots on the back are for. The front cover is supposed to look nice, and those pixel covers sure don’t achieve that. Just pointless.
