Re: Keiji Inafune Is The Producer Of Level-5's New Fantasy Life Game On Switch

KeeperBvK

Insfune stills owes me a key for Mighty No 9.
I backed it on KS and chose the 3DS version…which never materialized. They didn’t even have the dignity to officially cancel it. Just radio silence.
They should at least then have sent me a key for the Steam version or let me choose again.
And of course I am not the only one. Anybody who chose the 3DS version is in the same boat.
Really shady behavior on Inafune‘s behalf.

Re: SEGA & Tencent Have Also Decided To Skip This Year's E3

KeeperBvK

@BiscuitCrumbsInMyBed Definitely not. I attended E3 2005 and the Nintendo press conference myself as a member of the media, and I have been following the E3 closely before and after. Definitely, back then, the exhibition itself and the publisher shows were not open to the public. If anything, it got more open in years after.
At the exhibition itself, you could also see e.g. Gamestop clerks or other people from the industry, but at the publishers' press conferences (as they were called), you would obviously only get in as a member of the press. And they would even limit the people per medium. We were three guys travelling to LA from Germany, but we could only get 2 tickets for the Nintendo show.

Re: In Memory Of Philip J Reed, Writer And Nintendo Life Contributor

Oof, I joined this site in 2008, so I've been here throughout his stint, and I enjoyed his articles. I mostly remember Chicken Brutus (wasn't that his alias here back then?) for ripping apart terribly bad games.
Just recently, I was browsing old DSiWare and WiiU eshop reviews, stumbling over some of his work again, and actually checked what he was doing nowadays, and I was happy for him to see that he is still dabbling in video games journalism.
This news now comes as all the more of a shock...

Re: Review: 3Souls (Wii U eShop)

KeeperBvK

@Clipse Just chiming in to say that I really like your game. There are some downsides, but overall I am sure enjoying myself and I can't wait to finish the game. I saw a review giving it a meager 2/10 and that's just...bollocks.
Sad to see 3Souls having been mostly forgotten about. Wasn't it possible to port it to Steam, rather than (only) itch.io?

Re: Review: Excave (3DS eShop)

KeeperBvK

Different to what the review says, this game has no levelling or stat increase system at all. All stats are merely determined by your equipment.
And it should be noted that the real game only starts after beating the initial 5 dungeons that are mentioned in the review. After seeing the credits for the first time, there are still plenty of secrets to uncover and nasty dungeons to beat. Overall, it took me close to 31 hours to see it all.

Re: Review: G-LOC: Air Battle (3DS eShop / GG)

KeeperBvK

@SportyMarioSonicMix What? How does it in any way relate to Streetpass? It's multiplayer and nothing else. You connect the Gamboys and play gaems together...
Right at launch of the Game Boy, multiplayer was a big thing in Tetris. Later, there even was a four-player adapter.

Re: Review: G-LOC: Air Battle (3DS eShop / GG)

KeeperBvK

@SportyMarioSonicMix
I never played the GG version.

But I can comment on one of your questions:
7) Am I the only one who was SHOCKED to learn the Game Gear had multiplayer support in the early 1990s? WOW!!!

Re: Feature: 23 Best Wii U eShop Games You Should Get Before They're Gone Forever

KeeperBvK

@Aneira
Are you referring to @RCMADIAX 's first game?
That was also nothing but a blatant clone, but it happened to clone a game nobody on the NLife team or most readers had heard of, so he got a free pass, and even a good review.
The game he had cloned was Tumbledrop. I had played it on my iPhone before RCMADIAX cloned it, so I was a little disheartened to see NLife actually praising the clone back in the days.

Re: Nintendo Download: 1st March (North America)

"Poisoft Thud Card (POISOFT, $2.99) - It's a very fun card game. Aim to be the world's top Thud player"

It's ridiculous to just blindly copy and paste all of this PR nonsense, especially without even disclosing it. As it stands, this site is calling the game "very fun" although I'm fairly sure you have no idea whether it really is any good.

Re: Review: Dragon Sinker (Switch eShop)

KeeperBvK

@Shiryu I highly doubt that Exe made these games and then looked for a publisher. It is way more likely that Kemco requested Exe to make auch a game...how else do you explain the literally dozens of extremely similar games all being published by Kemco?

Re: Nintendo Download: 15th February (Europe)

KeeperBvK

@Dom You know, it really is ironic: You kept emphasizing how you would favor personal analysis of the weekly Japanese sales charts over the (how you would call them) "cold" bare facts.
Yet, these weekly download news are the epitomy of soullessness as you honestly just repeat and quote PR babbling. It is extremely hard to stick with these texts as they are so blatantly promotional. What once had been my favorite news of the week is now barely acceptable. I mean, just look at the Fe text: A new kind of platformer? Because it doesn't tell you its story? That is just stupid.

Re: Review: Earth Wars (Switch eShop)

KeeperBvK

@warp3d And they didn't mention the fact it was raining on the day development for these games started! Nobody cares. It has absolutely nothing to do with the quality of the games. Take your politics out of gaming. Thank you.

Re: Review: Disc Jam (Switch eShop)

KeeperBvK

Is this review a joke? The abundance of typos and bad grammar are basically to be expected by now, but the length is just ridiculous. What I take away is: It apes Windjammer and nobody knows whether the community will stick around. Honestly: Nobody would need a review for that.
