My first Zelda was Link to the Past on the SNES. Such fond memories of it. The series remains a favourite to this day.

The Dragon Quest Builders devs helped? Oh hell yeah, this is sounding more and more promising!

Tough one, because I find this generation a low point for new pokemon. Was a tie between Empoleon and Gliscor for me. Went with Gliscor in the vote.

I really, really liked a lot about it! But it seems the game is simply too hard for me. My old, arthritic hands died on the boss, and if the rest of the game keeps getting harder, it'd just mean I couldn't complete it.

So I'll probably pass.

I had a feeling the headache complaints were probably on par with every other VR headset. Doesn't seem I was wrong.

However, I am old now and have back issues, so I can't go hunching forward to use one of these. Sadly I should pass.

@Jokerwolf Maybe they could afford to lose money on it, if they behaved like the other console makers. And fired tons of their workers, and used as much MTAs and gacha mechanics as other publishers.

@Oldstalk Because the global economy is a highly interconnected network, and when the richest, most powerful country on earth flips over the table in a fit of petulant rage? It affects us all to varying degrees.

@KevinP Nintendo is the only console maker not laying off employees and going for AI garbage. They're the only big publisher not pushing for exploitative gacha mechanics in every game. Or forcing "live service" nonsense on every developer. Etc..

Thinking Nintendo is particularly greedy by corporate standards requires you to ignore every one of their competitors.

Gamers will still blame Nintendo, as if this global shortage and tariff nightmare isn't a thing.

Oh that's great news! I was hopeful about this, but Capcom can be so hit or miss.

My wife and I had such a blast with the last one, totally looking forward to his! It's such bizarre, quirky fun.

My wife already bought one, but... it's not very big, and already almost full. So... this is tempting me.

Weird, considering Sony has been more censorious over this stuff than Nintendo in recent years. The Switch eShop is full of friggin' smutty games.

Studio closures, layoffs, game cancellations, and a focus on "games as a service"... the thing that has proven a disaster for so many other publishers, who failed to realize there's only so much room in the market for games you play every day and spend tons of cash on.

Oh and AI. A recipe for ruin.

A whole lot of people are missing the forest for the trees here. Nintendo got clobbered with launching their console at the worst possible time. The fact it's done as well as it has is remarkable! Sony announced they're delaying a new console by a year or two because of this stuff.

Of course people are not rushing out to buy the expensive new console, when they are being hammered at every end with rising costs and greater insecurity. And contrary to the people in this thread, Nintendo itself is also getting hammered with rising costs in parts. Have you looked at the price of some computer components lately? GenAI has trashed the economics of building new devices.

The stock market is a bunch of greedy, impatient toddlers with money but no impulse control.

We are entering very dark economic times. I don't think Switch2 sales can be looked at in a vacuum. It's just part of the trend of downward sales this holiday season.

Need to find time to play this one still. Though I'll admit: I liked the original Hyrule Warriors more than Age of Calamity. Sure, the story was fanfic style cheesiness, but it brought in all these fav Zelda characters, and was chock full of fun content. Whereas the more serious tone of the second Hyrule Warriors made for a less interesting cast.

Plus I'll be honest, I feel so many of the characters fighting styles in Age of Calamity felt floaty and less satisfying.

Been a huge fan of Bethesda since Morrowind. And I find Starfield utterly bereft of any shred of enjoyment to mine. I try repeatedly to get into it, and there's just nothing there worth exploring or interacting with.

Zero Mission is way better than Fusion. Will die on that hill.

Casual mode? Oh thank god. I'm too old for tough games anymore. Sadly had to pass on Metroid Dread because I heard it was so tough.

Man, was so let down when the plans to revive the franchise fell through with all the huge industry layoffs and studio closures. But maybe this will console my aching heart... bring me back to good times with my wife early in our relationship, playing co-op together.

Doesn't look nearly as interesting to me as Vampire Survivors but... heck, I'll probably try it out.

I think this might be the best Nintendo Direct ever, and with the reveal of a new Fire Emblem, and the last moment indication that it's a sequel to Three Houses?! Best end note ever, for sure!

Hoping this turns out to be good. I usually play horror games on PC, but the more time passes the less inclined I am to want to PC game and the more I just want to play on Switch/2.

I don't get the obsession with the three lap races. I mostly want new cosmetics, new characters, and the ability to free roam with my wife.

Not surprised. People fail to understand that straight up spec comparisons don't mean a lot, when you're talking about a device like the Switch 2, made from the ground up for specific tasks, vs. a device made with more generalized parts.

Another sign that Nintendo operates like a business run by craftspeople and artists, for good and sometimes for ill. (The ill being a bit overzealous in protecting the integrity of their work sometimes.)

Microsoft brings nothing to gaming unlike Sony or Nintendo. They just gobble up studios and publishers, then run them into the ground. And here they are again, ruining what was once my second favourite publisher.

All other issues aside: This isn't "bricking". Bricking is when the device is stripped of all ability to do anything, making it essentially no more than a brick. This is banning it from online services.

It's honestly just nice to read takedowns that aren't specifically going out of their way to be ridiculously negative. The upgrades are sweet!

I don't understand the appeal of these breakdowns. The screen looks amazing to me. I can't visualize anything better. Maybe my eyes are too old or defective to see what others say is supposedly lacking.
