Too bad that for me, the story was a big letdown. I’m glad a lot of other people seem to be holding it in high regard, but this ain’t no masterpiece for me, and I loved the other two and X.

Interesting. I didn’t enjoy Xenoblade 2 that much, but I definitely ended up enjoying 3 less, world, characters (mostly Znoah and Mio) and all. The titans of 2 are just automatically more memorable to me than just a circular landmass with not much more to it. What about 3’s world makes it seem more memorable to you? Just curious, really.

Once the honeymoon phase wore off XB3 was a serviceable Xenoblade game, but a lot of aspects were better handled by previous titles

something happened though while playing through 2 vs 3, the world in 2 was better overall vs 3. tbh i just dropped 3 completely after like 10 hours and havnt returned since.

the characters are better in 3 vs 2, but not by much

only thing i could give 3 an edge is in graphics, which is the least of my concern when playing a jrpg, as compared to gameplay and story

in terms of X, the gameplay is simply the best

@Takoda its one of the few games where i felt something was off immediatly, i felt dissapointed as soon as i noticed how the game was structured, especially the early stage, with the freedom not rly coming back as it has in past xenoblade games.

i dont know, they felt more like a realised world as opposed to 3 as a whole.

All Xenoblades are great and I'll throw hands with anyone who says otherwise.

Taking my sweet time with this game, still on chapter 4, I'm trying to do all the side quests.

But I'm glad it's selling well, maybe it can even be the best selling xenoblade game.

When they started cutting me off of paths with invisible walls instead of just letting me explore naturally and getting killed for going where the far too strong enemies are, I felt the exact same thing. They handled it so seamlessly before, but I guess with an interconnected world they couldn’t find a better way of handling it than just gating you from exploration until the story lets you go there. Immersion shattered on multiple occasions.

Loving the game, biggest surprise of the year for me. Will have to go back to the old ones eventually

I'm loving 3 so far. Best parts? Interesting open world with stuff to discover that rewards exploration (unlike, say, BOTW) and almost none of the fetch quests that infected Xeno 1 and 2

Wow, very impressive especially considering the game released in the last few days of July. Absolutely loving the game, the sidequests, hero quests, main story etc.

Only at Chapter 2 so far and I'm already having a MUCH better time with it than XC2. XC1 is my fav out of the 3 and seems like XC3 will be my second fav.
I really did not like XC2 at all, from character design to the excuse of a combat system.
Say what you want about xc2's story but if the gameplay is trash then I ain't playing it.

70 hours deep so far and loving every moment of it. The series improves with every entry. XC2 was massively better than the honestly pretty dissapointing original in most respects, and while the gap between 2 and 3 isn't quite as pronounced (XC2's music is better, for sure), I will say that I think this game does a much better job in terms of how it handles its side content than either of the previous mainline entries.

@Takoda The titans were super memorable, yeah. XC2 has my favorite landscapes in the series. Also love the large cities/settlements in that game, and the denser world design in general.

With that said, while XC3 returns to the more sprawling design of XC1's environments, it fixes the emptiness problem that game had by filling XC3's environments with more content to find.

@Takoda The more chatter we get going about X, the better!

I realize it's probably one of the most difficult Wii U games to port to the Switch because of the sheer vastness of the world and Switch's limited portable hardware, but it's absolutely worth the effort to bring it to new audiences that couldn't play it on Wii U or emulators (like myself).

It's the only Xenoblade game I know of that lets you pilot mechs and explore the world, it's also the only one I know of that allows character customization. Some may argue it feels more like an MMO compared to the mainline games, but that's why it isn't a mainline game.

We have all 3 XC games on Switch, it's now time to bring XCX!

I’d love a port, the exploration in X felt great and firing my old wii u up for it just feels like a hassle most of the time. I’d gladly double dip if it gets a switch port.

Xeno 3 misses a lot of verticality that I liked much more in Xenoblade 2 and Torna. It feels rather flat, but still fun to explore. The story really let me down but you do make a good point with the side-content, it’s by far the best part of the game, sucks you straight into the world with how you can really feel the impact you’re making on it.

I don't think it's lacking verticality compared to those games? Compared to 1, sure, but that's kinda inherent to 1'e design, there isn't much topping that.

That said, I was blown away when I decided to jump down from upper Aetia at one point. The whole dang map below is actually still loaded, meaning you seamlessly plummet all the way down. Really nice detail for how pointless it mostly is.

It seems that for people who loved Xenoblade 2 and the connection it made with 1, Xeno 3 was a letdown.

But I think that as a stand alone game, it is way better than the previous ones and caters to a wider audience. All the characters have much more higher quality voice acting, way more characters are fleshed out apart from the main party, the combat is better and more varied, the graphics are a huge step-up (Xeno 1 and 2 had horrible pop-in textures all the time even though graphics were simpler and more "anime-like").

The quests are much better. Xenoblade 1 had a lot of problems with the quests, and don't even get me started on switching blades to use field skills on Xeno 2... . User interface on Xeno 2 was not good and the combater was not well explained, even though it is simpler than in 3. I also think the music is better, but it is more delicate when compared to previous ones.

The story is more mature and less sci-fi than in previous games, and I get that people who like the sci-fi aspect are disappointed. But the characters are better written and deeper vs previous ones. Also I think the story is more consistent on itself (Xeno 2 was constantly interrupted with cringy moments, and Xeno 1 was very dependent on Shulk seeing the future with the monado to drive the plot), and consistent with a single theme (won't say to not spoil anyone).

I kind of agree that the world "feels smaller"... but then I loaded up the previous games and realized that they felt bigger due to having huge amounts of empty space and pop-in of textures, and they were way uglier on average.

I think Xeno 3 is better in almost every way. Also has the best chapter considering all Xeno games by a huge distance (you know). But now they need to reboot the series.

The game if you really played for the fun of the game and do the complete quest will be worth the ~60 or ~90SE version that you bought it for. SpeedRunning for stats but that will be a wasted effort for the money you spent on it. SpeedRunners for everyone to see but for enjoy the game play every aspect of the game. Having a higher level when you do quest of fights make it more enjoyable and adds to the storyline.

@maulinks, you are looking for something that isn't there.

I love xenoblade and all, but I'm way happier for multiversus, because the team at player first games deserves it, multiversus is imo game of the year so far, because I just love all the characters, the customization, and the gameplay is super balanced, except for Finn the human. Multiversus truly gives smash a run for its money, and I think it beats smash. Smash fans ain't gonna like this comment lol.

@SwitchForce I disagree, I think you were expecting something that was only on previous games. What I wanted was there on Xeno 3, and was not there on the previous games. They are all great, but I just think 3 is better.

I'm wicked happy to see XC3 doing so well. I've been having a blast playing through it so far. I've seen one cutscene from chapter 4, and am about 56 or so hours in. So yeah, I am taking my sweet time enjoying this beautiful world. So far I like everything about it, from the music, world building and exploration, to the characters, combat (SO much better than the steaming pile that was XC2's combat), visuals, and quests. I can't wait to see where the story goes from here.
Since everyone else seems to be doing it, here is my Xenoblade series rankings.
1. XC1. By far my favorite story and characters so far, but 3 is catching up.
2. XCX. Best combat and graphics so far, and best exploration. Again, XC3 is catching up, but I still don't like not being able to auto-attack while repositioning. IMHO it's a bad game mechanic (in XC2 and XC3, not XCX)
3. Torna - The Golden Country. A much better version, more enjoyable and better explained, of XC2's combat. Great story, characters, and lore development.
4. XC2. I hope they never go back to this. Poor character designs (embarrassing to have half-naked jiggly females on my TV for the whole neighborhood to see; it's not decent), glitchy gameplay (how many time does one have to press "B" to jump to trigger the jump vocalization? 3 does this too, but to a much smaller extent), horrible RNG gacha system, field skill, and the terribly explained, slow ponderous rhythm-game combat. Great story, and even some of the characters are cool (and as a Xenoblade game, it's still better than the average video game) so it definitely wasn't all bad, just not my favorite.
XC3 doesn't have a ranking yet but it currently sitting between 1 and 2 for the mainline stories, and between X and Torna overall.

@Takoda I've just finished chapter 6, I think, but so far 3's story is my favorite since the original. Though that's not exactly a high bar, since X, while otherwise awesome, has an absolute dumpster fire of a main story, and 2's story is basically cut and pasted from every C-tier anime I've ever seen, with lots of plot holes and frequently awful voice acting. Torna did some good work to redeem it, but there's only so much you can fix retroactively. As for world design, the thing that makes 3 memorable for me is how they've blended the previous worlds together. Finding a familiar landmark in a completely different environment or hearing a few notes of a previous music track in a new one gives me a simultaneous dose of nostalgia and novelty that I really enjoy. I did run into a few invisible walls, but once you're past about Colony 4, they only block maybe one or two of the dozen directions you could choose to go in, so they didn't really bother me. I considered everything up to that point to be the tutorial, anyway, so some railroading was expected. There have also been plenty of invisible walls in previous games too, with the same kind of "we probably shouldn't go there right now" line and everything. Besides, if you're exploring enough to hit multiple of them, I'm sure you found plenty of better places to get stomped by overleveled monsters than the main story path. And I just plain don't know what you mean about verticality. I feel like I spend half my time finding ways to wind up and down cliff edges, often with previously massive areas slowly dwindling into tiny dots below me or on the horizon.

I ended up picking up Live A Live recently and have been enjoying it. I tried Xenoblade Chronicles 2 back in 2017 when it came out, but could not get into the game even after having played 5-10 hours, I had also tried to get into the Xenoblade Chronicles port on 3DS, but I chalked that up to it being too big a game on 3DS, just not a series for me.

@Anachronism It’s mostly in the ending that I had bigger gripes with the story, up till chapter 6 I was enjoying where it was going but it all didn’t amount to any of the grandness I was hoping for. It’s more so the main characters that continuously let me down and since the story is kind of about them, that did a big number on my enjoyment. Of course, if you like Noah and Mio, then a lot of what I disliked doesn’t matter as much.

As for verticality, it does feel like I’m climbing up to new places but then it goes back to being rather flat most of the time, like climbing from plateau to plateau. Just a feeling I have more than an actual gameplay fact though, because as you pointed out, there are quite a few areas that tower over others.

@jcboyer515 You’d be surprised how different elements make or break the enjoyment for a lot of folks, haha. Xenoblade 2’s focus on being pretty anime and the blade gacha system alone push a lot of people away from that one, whereas some loved that anime-ness about it and now dislike Xenoblade 3 for going all serious on them. Xenoblade X’s story being less stellar is usually what people quote for liking that one less, but X’s exploration is then quoted as being the best in any xenoblade game. They might look similar, but when it comes down to it there are noticeable differences in focus and tone that lead to this.

In my case it might be my expectations that led to me not liking Xenoblade 3 as much, so you got me there.

Finished it today and that was some of the most epic stuff I ever witnessed. Cheesy and over the top but all the better for it. Now I need something low key and casual cause it was massive.

Im only at chapter 3 still but considering there's apparently only 7 chapters that's almost about half way, and so far the story has made little to no progress. I don't understand how anyone can prefer a story where the villains just seem to be generic cackling baddies that are bad for the sake of it. Maybe they become more interesting towards the end but XB1 and 2 introduced great villains right from the start

About 30 odd hours into it and I'm really loving it. There's a lot of tonal whiplash, which I find equal parts mesmerizing and hilarious. You'll be picking up mushrooms for dinner, as part of a sidequest that's clearly comic relief, and the characters will just suddenly sit down to reflect on life, death, and the meaning of existence. And it's like, damn, that got heavy. Even the characters will just blurt out, "Heavy." Especially Mio. I can't decide whether the humor's intentional or not. It doesn't seem to be, but whatever. It's great. Love it.

I usually hate cackling villains who are just evil for no reason, but in this case I feel like the villains are self-aware about the fact that they're evil for the fun it. Like they're playing a game and are completely removed from the human emotions of the players on the ground. So it works for me. They're not villains in the usual sense, because the story doesn't seem to depend on you hating them. (I mean, you hardly matter to them. They're like distant gods.) And, at any rate, there's a lot I don't know yet.

@Takoda I can see being a bit cool on Noah and Mio, though I thought the whole bit around the breakpoint between Chapter 5 and 6 was really well done. Definitely made me more attached to them. What's bugging me is Sena getting perpetually stuck on the sidelines. They try to give her a tiny bit of character development by loosely connecting her to two of the least likable characters in the game, and then use that as an excuse to make even her hero story about those characters instead of her. It's madness, I tell you. I won't stand for this disrespect to my favorite sentient wrecking ball.

@Anachronism chapter 5-6 did a great job… and then after that it feels like Noah goes right back to the usual instead of something blossoming from there. That really bugged me, but the moment by itself really showed that if they gave him more of those moments where he shows some individuality instead of doing it all for the ‘greater good’ he might’ve turned out really interesting.

Right?? Sena deserved so much better. Spoilering this for other people but she had an interesting set-up, some heartwarming conversations with Lanz but then they don’t push through with it and just made it into this weird ‘this is what a inferiority complex does to people, but don’t worry, Sena is different!’ instead of showing how Sena evolves and rises above it. Honestly, a lot of the villains get more interesting character moments and this forgiving look on how ‘it’s not their fault for turning out messed up’ but with Shania that gets thrown right out the window, she literally admitted to just betraying everybody for her own selfish wants.

@Judal27 A "cackling villain who is bad for the sake of it" sounds an awful lot like Metal Face to me.

@Mauzuri the area you’re in right now is admittedly one of my favourites. Always love abandoned ruins like that, buildings just melding with nature. Most of the other areas reminded me the past games but less so in a ‘wow, a reference!’ way but more like ‘been there, done that’. The titans at least conceptually felt really cool and I personally remember a lot of them.

@Ralizah Honestly metal face was indeed not that much more complex than these guys, but since he was a returning villain it at least felt like he mattered more. There’s so many different cackling baddies removed from any humanity that they all blend together and in the end, they just devolve into what they are: different letters of the alphabet that we go around beating up. Metal face was at least a character, these ones barely register as anything but rpg fodder before they get ditched. Or well, most of them do, save a few obvious exceptions. Just my two cents though.

@Takoda That's a different issue entirely, though. Both approaches have pros and cons IMO. While Metal Face being THE villain for much of the game certainly gave him more presence than an average, easily dispatched consul, I feel like having so many different consuls also allowed Monolith to play around with different types of villains. A lot of them are similar, for sure, but if you've played the game you know some of the consuls are very memorable and well-done. Whereas, with the XC1 approach, you're just stuck with Metal Face until late game, when Dickson and Zanza become more relevant.

The villains in XC1 and XC3 are, of course, all inferior to Amalthus and the Torna crew in XC2, who are present throughout the game and fairly well-developed as characters.

With that said, when you factor in some of XC3's less shallow villains, I feel like the end result is that XC1 ends up having the flattest and most stereotypical baddies in the series. But many long-time fans are less likely to be critical of the first game's flaws compared to newer releases.

@Ralizah There are a lot of parallels between Moebius and the Faces in general, and I actually think both are done pretty well. Metal Face specifically feels like most of his evil comes out of resentment and jealousy. He probably never would have been a good guy, but his self-centered personality combined with being forced to play second fiddle his entire life makes his evil believable.

I prefer playing Youtubers Life 2 over than xenoblade games.
It's way more fun to play.

@Ralizah Fair points well made. Moebius does have that going for it. I’ll admit that I do have nostalgia goggles when it comes to XC1 but I can see the merit in their new approach… except for the XC3 final boss, that one was the biggest letdown in xenoblade history to me. Of course won’t mention due to spoilers but if you know, you know.

I have ever owned xenoblade 2 but I found the game was not clicked on me and I quickly regretted after bought the game. I sold the game last October 2021.
Also, I don't like waifus inside the games.
I don't like big boobs female characters over there.

@Takoda I've heard a lot of people express disappointment in the final chapter, so I'm extremely interested to see what I end up thinking of it. That sort of fan outrage can go either way for me.

@Anti-Matter The first Xenoblade Chronicles has more of a focus on attractive men, and I believe you can have them run around in swim trunks or something in the Definitive Edition. Food for thought.

@Takoda I'll definitely be sharing my thoughts in the game's thread when I get there. I kinda wish this game had less side content. The urge to finish the main story is real, but the side quests are really well done, and I'd like to finish those as well. I guess I could finish them in the post-game but, eh, it's not really the same, y'know?

@Ralizah I had the same issue close to the end. I was near the end of chapter 6 but failed a boss fight twice and figured, eh, why not do a few small side quests and then try again? I ended up only getting back to said boss after multiple hours of side-questing around, and now that I’ve finished the story I still want to go back and see just how much there still is to do, which is rare for me. Just the total amount of stuff to do is daunting. I usually just finish the story and then move on to the next game, but for all the faults I find with the game the side-content in XC3 is just amazing.

But yeah, I get what you mean, there’s something about doing the side-quests while the story is still going on, whereas when you’ve already reached the end and go back to do them later it kind of gets this… ‘cleanup’ vibe instead of moving alongside the main story, because you already know how the grand plot around all those side-quests will end. At least that’s how it is for me, but I get what you mean. At least you’re having a good time doing it!

@Beaucine I'm not sure if you've played 1 before but it does that villain being self aware thing a whole lot better thru metal face and part of why i think it's not done well in 3 is because, at least 3 chapters in, there's no real explanation given to neither the characters in game nor the players on why they're doing what they're doing despite one of them just randomly showing up to casually tell the group yea we're enemies and attacks them. I'd try to go a little more in depth but I don't know how without spoiling and I'm not even done with the game myself so things could change later on

@Ralizah metal face does cackle yea lol, but he serves an entirely different purpose to the story than these consuls that just show up to display their cockiness and quickly lose right after so far. He is a primary antagonist but in general it's the mechons as a whole that are the antagonists during the beginning

And they're a complete mystery, just these mechanical creatures that terrorize humans and thats pretty much all the players and the characters know about them. They're treated more a force of nature than an actual group of antagonists with a clear goal, in the beginning at least. Through metal face constantly attacking them, it reveals a lot more about the mechons which are genuine shocks to the characters. And he doesn't do it by babbling on like that 1st consul did where he explains they're enemies but doesn't actually explain anything other than that. He does it by acting smug about killing you know who. Showing that mechons can be sentient. He does it by bragging about their death in front of shulk. Showing that some mechons can talk. Ultimately he's a fantastic 1st villain meant to guide the players and characters towards the real objective and his sadistic, bad for the sake of it, nature compliments that unraveling mystery really well

Which is more than I can say for any of the consuls that have appeared thus far. But again, I'm still at ch.3. This only really applies to what I think is the beginning of the story despite being. Maybe the story will pick up soon and the villains actually do something other than literally cackle, say a few generic evil lines and then die/lose right after. Legit I have not seen them do anything else except for that 1st consul guy

Battle system is only one aspect of the entire game as well. Don’t try to be so tunnel visioned on what determines what game is better. XB1, XB2, and X did better then XB3 on other aspects of the game that isn’t purely the battle

Calm down. You are clearly still in the honeymoon phase for XB3 to rationally compare the games with each other if that was what you responded me with.

@Judal27 I guess you need to be invested in the setting/set-up of XC1 in the first place to become invested in the homs vs mechon conflict. It all felt very random and artificial to me at the beginning, versus the consuls in XC3 having very good practical reasons for fighting against the main party, and the forever war setting of that game feeling more grounded and believable in general.

Which isn't to say I don't understand your perspective. Most of the more interesting villains don't show up until mid-to-late game, so most of them early on are primarily there to put the characters in situations where they need to learn to trust one-another and awaken their abilities.

It also helps that I legitimately found a lot of the consul villains to be fun, considering how openly hammy they are (love the stage lights flicking on whenever they're talking to what appears to be this game's Big Bad). They're like baddies out of a Sentai series.

IMO best parts of each game:
XC: Best setting, exploring the carcasses of 2 titans that killed each other with giant swords kicks ass, and the way that locations are laid out across them is cool. Shulk is prolly the most likeable protag too. Can't think of a bad voice performance in this game, probably the best voice acting quality of the series still, tho XC3 comes close

XCX: Best movement, the huge jumps are pretty fun and you get a sprint mechanic

XC2: Best overall soundtrack, the main motif they use in a bunch of tracks is really good. Also introduced the monsters dropping collectables that you can pick up without going thru a menu, nice.

XC2 Torna: Maybe best battle system? Idk its a toss up between this, XC2 and XC3 for me. The story was really nice for fleshing out Jin and Mythra, and Addam & Hugo are super likeable. Best default battle theme.

Future Connected: ermmm idk lol it's kinda just a watered down XC1, the battle music is nice tho.

XC3: Best boss music, I love dynamic music and how it hypes you up when the boss gets to low HP. Really likeable main cast. I love how they're leaning into the British stuff super hard in this one. Best customisation with team composition I think, since you can make anyone any class. Best emotional peak in the series, if you've played it you know the part I'm talking about.

Will reserve best story opinion for when the XC3 DLC story comes out.

I mean, I'm at chapter 4 now and the villains do become more interesting, especially after what happens at the end of chapter 3. But at the same time, the mystery of why they're doing this and what their motivations are is the driving force of the narrative, for you and the characters, so I'm not particularly annoyed at the vagueness and callousness of the villains, because both traits seem obviously intentional and the emotional focus is on the characters' journey and the state of the world and its people. You and the characters are explicitly in the dark about what it all means and they talk about that at length, especially as chapters 3 and 4 unfold.

@Ralizah maybe so, for some reason the war between keves and agnus just isn't clicking with me like the one in xb1 did. And that's especially disappointing because the worlds of 1 and 2 at war just sounds so good on paper. I'd say 3's conflict feels a little more artificial at the start because they just throw you into it without anything to go on other than the mcs tired of it. It wouldve been nice to have a little more world building cause I feel completely oblivious rn despite knowing some things from the other 2 games, but maybe it'll be like xb2 where it throws explanations left and right towards the end. But I'm still enjoying trekking along for the most part. The characters are getting a little more interesting than their designs let on. I'm invested enough where I absolutely do want to see where this story goes from here. But I think the beginning is a lot weaker overall than both 1 and 2

@Beaucine I have no doubt the story will eventually unveil the mystery surrounding moebius as it goes on. But there's a certain level of mystery a story should have at the beginning where you're kept in the dark from some things to reveal as twists later and still have enough for the you and the characters to have a little understanding of what their goal is and the antagonists why they're pushing back. XB3, I think keeps you way too much in the dark to where the characters' journey can feel sort of aimless. And 3 chapters in still feels like it's not moving closer to the truth. And with 1 and 2... idk they just had perfect starts lol. The way both of those games thrust their fairly regular MCs into their journeys with a clear goal just hit a lot harder and made sense, while still keeping it vague enough to keep the mystery going

I finished xeno 3 yesterday and yes it is really good, but never reached the levels of emotion that many of the chapters of xeno 2 made me feel. The only awkawrd thing about xeno 2 was the characters design, apart from that the world and characters were much more enjoyable than 3 and 1.

XC1 is great but its focused way too much on the "story progression" than the characters so it's hard to really remembering the casts and all you remember is generally how the story goes, it's kinda like a fable / heroes tale which is why it feels grand and majestic, but leave no room for the character to shine.

XC2 and 3 in comparison really let's you to bond with the casts, learns about what they like and dislikes, their inner conflict and that's a beautiful sight to see.

The problem being XC2 is kinda have a really slow start but but ended with an impactful climax while XC3 doing the exact opposite of really good opening and goal but the ending feels really rushed and the last boss is lacking a proper motivation, but given the plot demanded him as a personification of certain concept i guess that's just how he is, but the moebiuses legit more interesting as they're formerly humans.

But in the end given how horrible XC1 combat is, its kinda hard for me to really spend my time exploring its big world as enemy encounter is a big pain in the ass while with 2 and 3, combat is fun and it given me chance to 100% the map as i'm actually looking forward for encounters these time around which is wht it will be my least favorite!

Switch still doing the business, I thought it was doomed.

I poured almost 80 hours over mere two weeks into it (despite still being in chapter 3!), and can't wait to rack up more once I'm back in the VG groove next Friday. I don't even need to trashtalk the equally outstanding XC2 in order to elevate this wild ride of a game like some local fanmouthed dodos do elsewhere in the comments (I'm still on my first playthrough after 230+ hours in the latter diamond, so excuse me not being a good target audience for this snuff😏), but it's certainly bringing a sparking lot to the franchise's table. By now, Xenoblade is safely among my top favourite game franchises overall. :3

I'm happy to see Digimon charted. With visual novels being pretty niche I didn't expect it to chart at all

@Mauzuri Well a good majority of gamers and critics loved xenoblade 2 even with some flaws its still a good game plus the hate against it by some people including you is unjustified since you guys never even beat it to see the whole story.

@Mauzuri Like i said it had flaws especially the gacha system which i understand but my point is if some people that didnt even finish the game shouldnt be judging it plain and simple and besides devs should not makes games to hold players hands through out the whole thing which takes away the challenges/difficulties.
