Today sees the launch of the latest Pokémon game on Nintendo Switch, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX. As such, we thought it'd be a good idea to bring back our good old launch day poll.
With Pokémon Sword and Shield quickly becoming one of the Switch's best-sellers, it's hardly surprising that The Pokémon Company would want to get another game out pretty sharpish. The question is, is a Mystery Dungeon spin-off - and a remake, at that - what the Pokémon fanbase is after?
As you may well be aware, this release is a remake of the series' very first entries - Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team and Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team - which launched on the Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS respectively. While much is the same, the new version's lovely new lick of paint and streamlined features may be enough to justify another purchase for many.
So, we hand it over to you. Are you planning on picking up Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX?
Feel free to expand upon your answer in the comments below, or check out our review if you'd like to learn more before making up your mind.

Not Day One for me since my priority on this year are PS3, PSP, PS4 and PS2 games that i don't have yet.
But i will consider Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Switch eventually.
I love me some Pokemon an mystery dungeon, but I need to prioritize the AC Switch coming out next week and two copies of Animal Crossing
I want it, but not for current price. Willing to wait for possible discount. Otherwise I won't be too bothered to miss out.
Not a chance in hell.
i love pmd but i wont pay 60€ for it
i wait till it gets cheaper
I picked it up my pre-order from Smyths on my way into the office this morning. I have to admit I really only bought it for my seven year old - who really enjoyed the demo - but I'm sure I'll get some pleasure out of helping him out. It's far too expensive, but the resale value of physical Switch games is so high, that I won't lose much money even if I sell it in 6 months time.
No.
It's a good game, but it's just a remake of something I already have two versions of. And it's not even the remake of the best Mystery Dungeon game.
If it was a completely new game, then I would get it eventually. Like this though, maybe a used copy 10 years from now for 10 bucks.
I'll look at it when it's at least 50% off. It's far too expensive for what it offers.
I'll get it some time in the future probably. I'm currently drowning in games to play so this is not a priority
Maybe if it was Explorers of Sky, but I can't justify $60 for the same game, there's barely any upgrades aside from the visuals.
My physical copy just arrived today! I'll be playing it on my lunch break.
"Em-poll-eon"? That was cringy, but good try nonetheless.
Already have a huge backlog, including games like Dragon Quest XI S, Tales of Berseria and Valkyria Chronicles 4, so I won't get PMD DX for now. May consider it in the future, though.
Nope from me. The art style is nice but the gameplay in the demo put me off and Pokémon was soured for me by how barebones Sword and Shield were.
Nope. Waaay too rich for my blood. I'll get it when a sale happens.
Unless a free physical copy falls from the sky, nope. Wouldn't ever find time to play it even if I got it, too many better games.
Yeah, I got lucky and received my copy yesterday. I've enjoyed it well enough so far. The soundtrack is quite nice to listen to.
Only getting it because it's up my alley and I love Mystery Dungeon. I can see how price and repetitiveness are negatives for the game.
After playing the demo for this Ive decided to pass. It doesn't feel like a $60 game to me.
I'm getting it but holding off on it for now. Still too much on my plate.
Maybe in a deep sale... which probably means never, lol.
Likely, but not day one.
@ryancraddock Why can't we just have an option that says NO, without the need of the stupid comment?
I mean I'm not going to ever get it, but not because I consider it a "monstrosity". Because I've already played it and thought it was alright but not something I need to revisit.
There wasn’t an option for:
I won’t be getting it day-one, but only because my birthday is in a few weeks and I needed to leave something for my poor SO to get me as a present. I loved the original on DS and really enjoyed the demo, so I’m very much looking forward to this!
@dew12333 It's only a bit of fun! We obviously don't mean that it's actually a monstrosity...
I played it on DS, but I don't see a reason to buy it again.
This is one example where a demo actually discouraged me from purchasing. Bad idea to make a demo for a game that has boring, repetitive gameplay and a bafflingly bad art style (it’s so close to being right, but as it is, nothing about it works for me). I loved this series back in the day but didn’t like the plot in Super Mystery Dungeon and hate how slow-moving and tedious the dungeon crawling has become in this release. Sorry, Spike Chunsoft.
I'll probably just try playing the GBA version again
Seeing as I still have a functional copy of Blue Rescue Team on the DS with lots of hours on it and most pokemon collected/adventuring done. I'm likely not buying it again at $91 after tax.
I want going to until I started playing the demo. The game fixes a lot of the issues I have with older Mystery Dungeon titles.
I MAY pick this up eventually, way down the line when it's cheaper. I have enough of a Switch library to keep me busy for some time yet. I've played one of the original two games (Blue Rescue Team), and it left a bittersweet taste behind.
This game was fun when I was younger. I still own this game. There is no point in spending $60 on a game you already own.. I didn’t do it for Link’s awakening and I’m not gonna do it for that Pokémon spin off. It’s a disgusting cash grab.
As much as I like the artstyle and the premise of playing as a pokemon, the gameplay and level design are too mundane and repetitive to really justify splashing out, especially when there are a lot of other better games coming out this year (A shame, as I was kinda looking forward to playing it.).
I'd like to get my hands on it eventually, but $60 is a little much...
I wouldn’t call it a monstrosity or whatever, but I did find the demo exceedingly boring, and there’s so many other good games to play, so I have to give this one a pass. I love the art style, though!
Might get it if heavily discounted (won't hold my breath!) but not fussed otherwise.
Yeah the demo was boring, no thanks.
Nah, my Pokémon needs are satisfied and my dungeon crawler needs are not met by this game.
Part of me hopes this doesn't sell well so they realize they overpriced the game, but I also understand that this probably needs to sell well for them to consider a new Pokemon Mystery dungeon. While it's not my cup of tea I know it does have it's fans. Admittedly i've never gave it a fair shake yet, but I sure wouldn't for 60 bucks. This should have been a 40 dollar game probably.
The price is the most offputting thing for me. It took a bit but I found myself enjoying the demo, and I've heard tons of praise for the series online. If it was $40, I'd be getting it today. As is, I'll wait to see what other games are coming out this year.
Nope. Not gonna get this game for full price, the quality just isn't good enough to me.
Want it but Animal Crossing seduced away my money this month.
Pre ordered. Love it.
No. I've never been a fan of the mystery dungeon type of games. I just can't find the appeal, so I'll just ignore it.
plan on getting it because my kids want it but it won’t be until the 20th of this month or later. I have to buy two copies of Animal Crossing in two weeks.
The original is not only far far better looking and plays just as great. It's free too
Tooooo boring - great for a child perhaps? And that’s cool.
I love the mystery dungeon series but being I played this game already I would only buy it if it went down in price.
@Judal27 ...Free?
I wanted to get it day one but since I recently backed the Wonderful 101 Kickstarter and I also plan to buy Animal Crossing New Horizons this month (and obviously is a much bigger priority in my list than this game). I don't have the money for it right now. If it was 40 euros, I'd think about it but at 60 I will wait until summer before buying it.
Have to say tho, I'm surprised by how many people considered "terrible" seeing the poll. Like, I get it, it's way too expensive for what it is (it probably justifies less it's price than games like LGPE and that's saying something) but terrible?
Hmm... maybe not now, but eventually yes. Since it's a Pokémon Mystery Dungeon game, it's perfect to play on free time, but the storyline is always interesting.
@jowe_gw very much so. Unless you somehow don't own the plethora of devices that can run it with ease
On one hand I totally understand why so many people aren't interested in this. It's a bit pricey for a simple remake, and some reviewers are saying the original games are better...?
But on the other hand, when this inevitably doesn't sell great, maybe rip Pokemon Mystery Dungeon
Who cares about the price this game is for fun and bring old time things in that game so go ahead buy it don't be cheap guys..
It's a maybe buy for me. It's a fun game in some parts for me, but the demo didn't leave me impressed enough to put down the full $60.
Besides, I'm still happy with Touhou Genso Wanderer Reloaded on my Switch, which I enjoyed much more for more gameplay meat and such.
I'll get to it. But I'm way too stuck on Snack World to play any other dungeon spelunkers.
No doubt it's going to sell well because it's Pokemon but I don't understand why they didn't go for one of the later Mystery Dungeon games. Although I do love the art style, having played the GBA version it's just too repetitive and gets boring quite fast.
@ryancraddock Please keep the fun comments coming, am loving the puns
They blew it big time with the pricing.
At $30-40 it would have sold very well, but just look at the comments here! People say they’ll wait till a 50% sale?! That’s never ever gonna happen....
Too bad, cause I was interested in it as well till I learned the cost.
Too many other great games out there at much lower cost.
What is Bulbasaurs scarf tied to? Simialrly, on the video review thumbnail Totodile and Chikorita's scarf literally go into their necks. Maybe they should have dropped some of the pokemon and spent more time making higher quality models.
I picked it up yesterday.
I liked the demo well enough, and I'm a sucker for pretty much anything Pokemon, so this was an easy buy for me.
Not for $60. When it goes on sale I’ll consider it.
