Nomada Studio's GRIS, a lovely platformer that launched on Switch towards the end of 2018, has now sold more than one million copies across all platforms.
The Spanish indie developer has taken to social media to reveal the news, thanking players by posting a special piece of celebratory art.
"We are thrilled to announce that GRIS has sold more than one million copies... crazy!! Thanks to our team, families, Devolver Digital and specially to all of you who made this possible"
If you haven't checked this one out yet for yourself, we'd certainly recommend that you do. We went as far as describing the game as a masterpiece in our review, so make sure to give that a read if you're intrigued.
Have you played GRIS on Switch? Would you recommend it to others reading this very page? Share your experiences in the comments below.

It deserves all 1 million sales. It truly is a stunning game. Anyone with even the slightest interest in platforming games really needs to play this.
Really loved this one. Short but a great experience while it lasts. Well worth checking out.
Wonderful, evocative experience. Glad to hear it’s sold successfully.
This was a great game, I’m really looking forward to replaying it one day. Beautiful artwork and sound, incredibly atmospheric. Definitely deserves 1 million sold.
I definitely want to get this one day. I haven’t due to the backlog but it sounds like a powerful short experience that would be good to sandwich between longer games.
One million and one incoming...
Congratulations!
Good job on the sales. Art style is a bit yuck imo
It was just in a humble bundle. That counts as a copy sold.
@Incarna I’d have to agree. For large parts of the game the gameplay just consisted of holding down the left/right d-pad for a few minutes. It looked nice and was relaxing but I was happy when it finished and soon forgotten about.
Great others loved it and has been successful though...
I need to restart this game, this time finish it! Really lovely experience and a nice counter point to AC.
Bought and played this just after the game awards and I loved every second. It’s an interactive work of art.
Absolutely amazing game.
Really loved this game. Wonder how the sales broke down per platform. Sure Switch sales were a big chunk.
I don‘t know about this game. Don’t get me wrong, the artstyle and the storytelling are a piece of art but gameplay wise it could have been a bit better. Most of the time GRIS is hardly a challenge and the pacing can be very slow at times.
I may get hate saying this, but I think its hugely overrated. Sure it looks and sounds nice and its artsy. But at the end of the day its just a very short walking simulation that, in my opinion is a bit boring. You can't die, so there never is any tension (not even during a chase-sequence). Gameplay could have been sooo much better. I think there are far bigger and better games that are also good looking and maybe a bit artsy on the e-shop (hollow knight, for example).
Loved this game!
I got this game in this months Humble Bundle.
Personally found this to be one of the worst games of its ilk when you take presentation out of the equation, and a lot of these games have great presentation. Vapid and clunky gameplay elements when they are used, overtly sluggish pacing when they aren't. Bit on the nose metaphorically. Doesn't seem to work as a walking sim and doesn't seem to work as a conventional game.
That all being said, I'm all for artistic indie titles getting recognition; this news will only encourage more independent developers to get cracking and feel confident they can succeed in the industry.
I've had this for a year and never played it (besides testing it for 5 mins). Tonight I will get stoned and beat it for it's celebration.
One gorgeous game, the visuals are amazing, and had no problems with the game itself.
Just a shame it is so short, only took me 5 hours (and I was very hungover) but love it all the same
As you might guess from my avatar, I really liked this game. It deserves the success!
@Henmii Hollow Knight is fantastic but a very different experience. Sometimes you just want something soothing and sweet and short and Gris is perfect for that. Sometimes you want something where you’ll find something new every time you turn it on, and probably die a lot if you’re anything like me, but see yourself getting a little better with each death—HK is phenomenal for that. Both games are very different experiences and that’s all right.
Play Inside instead of this. It’s soooo much better.
