Update [Mon 31st Jan, 2022 15:35 GMT]: Sources close to movie news site Giant Freakin Robot have said that the movie Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson hinted at last week is Call of Duty (thanks, Eurogamer).

Johnson is said to be in talks about the new film, but his actual role within it hasn't been confirmed.

A Call of Duty movie has been in the works since 2015, with Sicario 2 director Stefano Sollima apparently in talks not so long ago.

Original Story [Wed 26th Jan, 2022 04:05 GMT]: Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has told Men's Journal he'll be starring in another video game movie - describing it as an adaptation based on one of the "most badass games" that he's been playing for years.

"I can’t tell you which game in particular we’re doing, but there will be an announcement this year. We’re going to bring one of the biggest, most badass games to the screen—one that I’ve played for years. I’m really excited to bring it to fans around the world."

Although it's unlikely to be based on a Nintendo game, that hasn't stopped some members within the Nintendo community from speculating:

Johnson has previously starred in video game movie adaptations like Doom (2005) and Rampage (2018). He's also been in games like Fortnite. On the Nintendo front, Hollywood A-lister Chris Pratt will be the voice of Mario in the upcoming Super Mario animated movie.

What kind of "badass" video game movie do you think we might see from The Rock next? Leave a comment down below.
