Re: Random: Did Reggie Just Accidentally Reveal Switch's Next Big Game Announcement?

JLPick

There was more than Metroid 4 announced...they also showed Yoshi and Kirby. However, I don't find a reference to an upcoming Donkey Kong game being released, it's just throwing a name out, but in all honesty, every time this site seems to mention a game coming out, they must know, because then it's announced. That being said, it would be nice to see what other games nintendo has up their sleeves for this coming year, and also to see the Switch's RETAIL scene grow more and more...as long as it's not all 'download-only' like what happened on the Wii U, where the retail section of that system looked horrible in games available...this is what drove many parents away from that system. With the Switch's growing, and the popularity of the system and the fading out (finally) of the Wii and what seems to be a small fading out of the 3DS (it's starting to look bare over here, with even gaming stores just putting on a small shelf away from console releases anymore), the stores are giving the system a chance and showing it off! That's a good thing, as I'm finally starting to get back into a nintendo system (Hated the Wii U and the original Wii and 3DS and even the DS felt boring to me...however, I loved the Gamecube and the original Advance systems). I'd rather see them call out a new Animal Crossing for 2018, but I also don't want to see them call out games that won't come out for 2018. A new Pikmin, Animal Crossing, F-Zero, Punch Out, Mario Golf, Mario Super Sluggers, Paper Mario (granted we just got one for Wii U...even so, bring that one over to the Switch) and I could even go for some of their older franchises (Faxanandu, Startropics, Kid Icarius or more) and one thing that I wish that they would do...add the virtual console library to the E-Shop finally and also, bring out some NES, Super NES, N64 and Gamecube retail collections!!!!! I'd re-purchase a Zelda, Mario, Kirby or even Metroid collections again!!!!

Re: Deals: Upcoming Nintendo Switch Games And Accessories For October And November

JLPick

Looking forward to Super Mario Odyssey the most, but will probably also pick up Snipperclips, Rime, Little Dew 2 and a few of the others to keep me actually playing the system a little more (not the biggest play session right now). Other than that, with also owning the PS4 and have yet to purchase Horizon and Knack 2 on that (and God Of War on the way) and still have yet to fully play the new Uncharted and Everybody's Golf, it's going to be a good year so far for the frigid cold season to begin! Glad I own the 2 consoles that pour the games out, and hopefully, the Switch continues this strong throughout the next months ahead, because it's definitely showing more strength and support than the Wii U had...already coming close to having more retail games than the Wii U already!!!!

Re: FIFA 18 on Nintendo Switch Accounts for a Tiny Percentage of UK Launch Sales

JLPick

And this is why 3rd parties abandon anything nintendo does...however, this is also EA's fault for putting the game out later than the others...hmm...FIFA 2018 and 2019 will be on the other systems here in a few months probably (don't really follow them, but I'm sure the 2019 seasons of all the sports games will be coming after the holidays). Other than that, it's still early for the game to start going up in sales, but I'm sure with Pokken tournament just arriving and Super Mario Odyssey arriving the end of this month, it's a bad time for FIFA to even come out...perhaps last month would have been a little better for it, but who knows...or maybe (as I read more articles on this site) it's some of the glitches in the game? But, all in all, EA will pull the plug once again on the nintendo console, unless the others (when they arrive) do better, but again, even Madden will probably come out later than the other consoles.

Re: Sony Doesn't Consider Handheld Gaming To Be A "Huge Market Opportunity"

JLPick

@NEStalgia First of all...you mentioned so much that I grew up with too, which means that it's finally nice to see someone on here that's about my age (38). Thanks for that. Other than that, never said that I was fully getting out of nintendo...still love Mario, Kirby, Pikmin and the occasional Zelda, but other than that...and this just isn't coming from the nintendo perspective, but also Sony, Microsoft, Sega, Ubisoft and others...they're just repeating the same thing over again. Still never got into Splatoon or Arms...just not my cup of tea...and the Wii U I thought was just a horrible system...just that the games seemed very rushed and incomplete compared to the games released on their past consoles. Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival just seemed like it could have been a lot more, it was just raced out to keep the ones that bought the system, happy with some kind of game coming out for it. As I grew up in the Atari era, NES was awesome for it's time, with the Genesis being my next, then the N64 and Dreamcast, then the Gamecube (still my favorite nintendo system) and PS2, then the PS3 and Wii, then the PS4...got rid of the Wii U...and now including the Switch. Still have questions on the future of the Switch, but it's still too early for anyone to answer those. Other than that, when I was talking about growing up and getting out of the games, I just don't think nintendo makes the fun games that they once did anymore. My wife and I play the party titles, but it's the trivia and Mario Party styles that we like...and we haven't liked a Mario Party since part 8 on Wii...and we've been playing the PS4 to death with the puzzle game Gems Of War and some of the other games (Crash Trilogy, Stardew Valley, Uncharted's, Little Big Planet 3 and now Everybody's Golf). That is...until Mario (Sonic Adventure) Odyssey comes out...the reason for Sonic Adventure being in there, is that what it kind of reminds me of. Other than that, it's still nice to play a decent Mario Adventure, Link's newest adventure, the Pikmin and Kirby series, but some of the others, just don't seem to have the love that nintendo once put into their games...I'm just hoping that the Switch keeps up and nintendo supports the system...and hopefully nintendo doesn't make a 3DS successor...and they just keep the Switch as their console and handheld.

Re: Sony Doesn't Consider Handheld Gaming To Be A "Huge Market Opportunity"

JLPick

@NEStalgia Um...Sony didn't give up on Vita after a few months, and the games came out from them...Little Big Planet, God Of War, Wipeout, Mod Nation Racers, Sly Cooper 4, Little Deviants, Reality Fighters, Uncharted, Jak And Daxter Collection, Disgaea and more came out throughout the 2 years of it's launch, with quite a few from 3rd parties. It was after a few years that everyone gave up on it, including most 3rd parties...just like what happened on the Wii U. The Wii U was, what I think, the same situation, but it was a console, and nintendo basically did give up on it, just threw out many quick and cheap games that didn't have as much depth and enjoyment as many of the past nintendo games...granted that a few were good, they were still not as good as their past consoles...plus, there were probably just as many Wii U retail games as there were with the Vita, and both systems were basically looked away from...which was a shame for both, because both are pretty good systems. And, to make them kind of similar, it was downloads that kept them alive throughout the years. I'm just glad the Switch is doing good, and as much as I loved the PSP over the DS, the Vita...granted that it was better graphics wise than the 3DS, just didn't have the quick fire games that portables should have...I don't want to play a handheld game that takes 30 minutes to go through before I can save, which is why I chose the 3DS over it...granted I don't own the VITA, 3DS or even the Wii U anymore. Other than that, both companies were in the wrong for what they did, and nintendo in the past always gave up on their systems a year before their next ones come out...and the 3DS isn't getting much support, or had much support throughout the past 2 years...if you look at how many were filling out for the DS and original Gameboys. It's kind of a shame, and I'd be glad to welcome a new Sony handheld...if they did it right this time, and not use the expensive memory cards, but for right now, the Switch is what I call the newest handheld, and it doesn't look like a cheap kids toy and I'm not embarrassed to take it out on the go, unlike the 3DS which kind of looked like a kids toy. SOOO...in my past comment, I wasn't putting down either company, and I'm not a fanboy of either company...I love them both, and if Sega was still around, I'd have all three of the companies consoles. Nintendo, however, I'm starting to outgrow, but I always love playing Mario, Pikmin, Zelda and more.

Re: Sony Doesn't Consider Handheld Gaming To Be A "Huge Market Opportunity"

JLPick

Off the record, I get a kick out of some of the people putting the blame onto Sony for the lack of Vita's sales...so, um...what about nintendo with the Wii U, where those same people were probably saying it was 3rd parties???

Anyways, Sony did good with the PSP, it was a great handheld...the VITA could have been, but nintendo had something that Sony did not...the kid-friendly, quick-fire games. Sony's games on the VITA were 'big', and not many people had time for a portable device, to play a game for 30 minutes plus, before getting a save...nintendo's would and most games were quick. Nintendo has also had the market since the Gameboy...actually before. Sega blamed others for the Game Gear, Sony blamed others for the VITA and Atari...well, there's was just plain overpriced. Other than that, the portable marked did somewhat go away. When the Gameboy released, it was game after game...the same continued all the way up to the DS. The 3DS started strong, but if you look at the past 2 years, there hasn't been a lot of games pouring out on shelves except ones made by nintendo (not saying there was none, but there wasn't as many as the other handhelds before it). Anyways, Sony is Console...always will be to me and I love them and the PS4...nintendo is different in their marketing, and right now they combined the two...Switch is great! It will be better within the next year when more games come pouring out on it. The Vita killed itself with the expensive SD Cards, but look at the 3DS when it was first released...it was failing until they massively lowered the price. Each company has it's fall down, but they can always have the opportunity to rise back up. Nintendo and Sony has showed this...PS3 was being outdone by the 360, the PS4 is dominating with the XBONE showing that Microsoft can kind of have a flop of a system (kind of a flop), and nintendo shared this with the Wii U and even before...the Virtual Boy. Phones are in right now with many people, and the Switch is too big for pockets...could this era improve or go down hill...only time tells!

Re: Bethesda Says DOOM And Wolfenstein 2 Are "The Start" Of A Nintendo Relationship

JLPick

@BlueOcean To me, but I count the Switch as a portable, it would be like buying the same game for a console and handheld...that was the only thing I was thinking everyone was complaining about. But other than that, it seems that's what companies are going to do once again, just like the Wii U era, or releasing the games that are already on the others, and have been on the others for quite some time. By the time Doom releases on Switch, it'll be $60 for Switch and probably down to $20 for the others...something about what happened with the Wii U, makes me a little cautious about this.

Re: Nintendo is Now 128 Years Old

JLPick

My first game I played by nintendo was Donkey Kong on the Atari. It wasn't until later, after the hype from my friends in elementary school that I purchased an NES console and never looked back! Great console and many long hours of classic gaming. Skipped the Super for the Genesis instead, kind of liked the N64 but thought the controller was horrible, LOVED the Gamecube, and I even owned a Dreamcast and PS2 at the time, ok with the Wii, HATE the Wii U (only had for about a year) and the Switch isn't too bad. Also, I remember when I first purchased the Gameboy and fell in love with the black and green colors. Somewhere in my collection of nintendo...where every single issue of Nintendo Power is, is also some music cassette tapes that have their logo on it. I'm surprised that this is still never covered throughout this site, as they seemed to be in the music business for a short while (the artists sure were not any good). Anyways, Happy Birthday Nintendo, and hope you have many more!

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Switch and Third-Parties - Let's Be Realistic

JLPick

I have a PS4, so the third party games aren't a big problem, but for people that only have one console, it's a struggle. However, I think after this holiday season (and if the Switch continues to sell strongly), we'll see more from 3rd parties next year...other than that, it's still getting more games than what the Wii U had, and it won't take long to get a bigger library for it than the Wii U. In other words, I don't blame certain companies waiting to see...the Wii U was horrible (at least in my opinion). The only problem is that most of the 3rd party games have already been out on the other systems...and by the time the sports titles finally arrive, the next year installments will already be out...it's already coming close to when the next franchise in the series begin to start arriving. Other than that, I still don't mind getting 3rd party games that are good on PS4 and the Switch, as I use the Switch as a handheld instead. My only fear is if nintendo tries to release a new handheld...will that push 3rd parties away from the Switch? Will that mean more years of one year nintendo works on their console (with barely any support to their handheld) and the next year their support goes to their handheld (with barely any support to their console)? Even with the 3DS right now, there's a big lag in games from 3rd parties...there's not as many if you look at the way the DS, Advance and even the Gameboy had loads and loads of titles arrive for them. It all comes down to the 3rd parties wanting to dip one of their games into it, but I'd rather see them make something new and exclusive to the Switch, rather than just 1-2 year old ports...but I'd still also like to see some ports. As for the E-shop, it's the same old thing, with many that are on various systems already or Wii U E-Shop games re-releasing (granted I still double dipped for Little Inferno again!!!). I wonder when the official virtual console will finally arrive on it?

Re: Bethesda Says DOOM And Wolfenstein 2 Are "The Start" Of A Nintendo Relationship

JLPick

Granted I won't pay the full price, and will probably get them on PS4 first, this is still fantastic news, as I've already been purchasing the same game for PS4 and Switch (Puyo Puyo Tetris is just one, with Skyrim going to be the second). On top of that, it would be like getting a game on a console and then getting the same game on a portable, so I'm not sure why some people are comparing the two? Anyways, glad the Switch is getting support, as I was one of the people that waited on the system and was hesitant about it, but I'm sort-of enjoying it (still has a little more to improve on my behalf, but still...much better than the Wii U, just still not many games available for it yet). Looking more forward to Super Mario Odyssey, but since I have no care or even want for Pokken Tournament, this is kind of an added bonus until Kirby and Yoshi arrive in 2018. Does anyone know when any of this companies games are even arriving for the system?

Re: SEGA Knows Fans Want Sonic Adventure 3

JLPick

Sonic Adventure was a great and big game when it arrived on Dreamcast...it was the game that got me into buying the console. Nowadays, the game looks somewhat horrible (and the voice acting is horrible), but it was a gem in the day...almost of a hype and showing on how Mario Odyssey reminds me of. The sequel wasn't as good to me...there became too many glitches...one was in Knuckle's gem finding stage, where you could glide behind a wall and disappear completely, but you couldn't see anything except blue onto the screen. Other than that, I didn't really care for that. What I would like to see is the re-release of Sonic Shuffle from the dreamcast era, but I'd also like a sequel to Sonic Generations. As long as it's not the Sonic The Hedgehog game that was first released for PS3 and 360, I'm fine!!!!

Re: Soapbox: Playing Super Mario Sunshine Today Painfully Illustrates Nintendo's 3D Evolution

JLPick

Uh, I still play the game occasionally, and it works fine for me. Sure the camera can get a little frustrating, but what adventure-platform doesn't it? Other than that, the game itself wasn't too bad...wasn't the best Mario title of all. I have to admit, Super Mario 64, even though it brought the 3D element to it, that one is the one that needs a lot of work done to it...the camera was absolutely horrible in it (anyone else get motion sickness when Mario enters the cannons and the camera can't even sit still for one second) and the graphics don't hold up. Gamecube still looks pretty good to this day, a little better than some of the Wii's graphics did...and the Gamecube looks really good if you play Wii games on the Wii U (Wii games look really horrible on that...the disc format versions, not downloads). Other than that, and back to my little point, my favorite mario title is still Super Mario Bros 3, but Sunshine was a pretty good title too! It deserves an HD remaster (not a sequel), but if that's the case, there's some other Mario adventures that could stand an upgrade too. But to complain about a game that's now 15 years old, is pretty sad...would be like playing the Atari and complaining about the graphics compared to this generation's systems!

Re: Take-Two "Very Optimistic" About Switch, Expects Sales To "Continue To Be Great"

JLPick

@electrolite77 I know that will never happen. It's been like that for me since the Genesis and Super era. I ended up getting the Genesis since my cousin had the Super, which then worked out. The next generation, I had the N64 and Dreamcast, while my cuz had the Playstation...next console war, I had all three with the Gamecube being my favorite pick...next, well, it just happened to the ones that I actually loved. I don't mind it, I always pick Sony and Nintendo at the time for my consoles due to their IP's. I'll get the Atari Box once I know the price and what it will offer (even if it's just the old Atari 2600 games, that's enough for my purchase due to being that old and growing up with it). Only thing I was getting at, is that some people can't afford two, but that's when the 'PERFECT' pick for them needs to happen...they need to get which one they would like and not be choosey...some people don't end up doing that, and just complain then.

Re: Take-Two "Very Optimistic" About Switch, Expects Sales To "Continue To Be Great"

JLPick

This is pretty good news for myself, as I'm somewhat wondering on if I want to purchase the system or not (being how much I've been left down from the Wii U and nintendo recently). If the games keep on coming for it, and the sales of the system continue, I'll become a proud owner of one, but up until right now, there's still only a small percentage of games that would make me purchase one, and some are not even out yet (Mario Odyssey, Mario Kart 8, Zelda and the upcoming Yoshi and Kirby title)...nothing else striking my interest. Guess time will tell, and the system is still rather new and still hard to find (brings me back to the very first year of the Wii where that was hard to find), so until Nintendo starts fixing their own problems...production, game teams, mistakes from the Gamecube on up areas, 3rd party happiness (slowly on that), and the E-Shop better titles rather than shovel ware after shovel ware and bring a good virtual console that was released on the Wii...and of course with the virtual console not being the same games released each week after week, and finally...sales on all of the games, including their own...some nice NES and Super NES sale games would be nice...then I'll get the system...up until then, it'll be waiting!

Back to the topic, it's still great news as to finally getting support for GREAT sports sims...hopefully it continues with each year, but if those two titles take that much longer to arrive, the next year will be out by then.

Re: Gallery: A Look Back At Some Of Miiverse's Craziest And Most Beautiful Moments

JLPick

I used to love drawing...one thing that I enjoyed about the Wii U in the beginning, but it grew old fast. Plus, I always hated how some people were able to draw works of incredible art (which I wondered if they cheated somehow) and some that only had one word and nothing else, had over 10,000 likes, where something that was great only got 5-10 likes...never made sense to me. However, it was really fun to draw and post!

Re: Sledgehammer Games Has a Definitive Answer on Call of Duty: WWII for Nintendo Switch - "No"

JLPick

Even though I own a PS4 if I wanted them...I hate the Call Of Duty games to begin with...however, it is one license that would help sell the Switch further down the years. The Switch may be selling now, but how well if the stock issue was met? Once again, it's looking like the Wii or the Wii U years. Hopefully it doesn't turn into the Wii U with the 3rd part offerings, but if it stays as the Wii's days, it still has plenty of support. They could stay make the COD games, just different ones, but it's showing that most of the AAA games from other studios, won't be heading towards the system, but different versions of it. Kind of makes you wonder how Elder's Scrolls will truly look on the Switch.

Re: Extra Nintendo Switch Stock Drives Game Sales in UK, as Ever Oasis Struggles on Debut

JLPick

If manufacturing was done right over here in the US, the sales would continue high for nintendo here too. Up until then, it's a waiting period for people that want the system, and a watch as more scalpers buy to sell them at expensive prices only. I still see many people on preorder lists that have been on there before launch, still waiting for their systems. I really think this is the Wii era all over again!

Re: Nintendo Apologizes for Switch Shortages, Promises an Increase in Production

JLPick

Well, after E3's showings, it made me finally want to purchase one, and I'd like to by the holidays or 2018's tax return...hopefully I find one by then, but until then, I watch as more games come out and the 'purchase' price goes up and up!!!! Right now, the system, pro controller, screen protector, Zelda, Mario Kart 8, Mario Odyssey, Mario and Rabbids, Kirby (if it's this year or early next), Yoshi (again, this year or early next) and who knows what else will be announced for this year. To me, the Switch is just like the Wii (in the terms of finding one in the US). When the Wii launched over here, you couldn't find it on store shelves for almost a year...pretty much over a year before it stayed on a shelf longer than 5 minutes. The Switch is the same way in that sense, but eventually, maybe I'll walk into a store the right time, they get one in, I'll be the only one in the store at the time, and I can get one...that's the same way I stumbled with a Wii...walked in a week after it's launch, UPS driver dropped a shipment off, one was left, clerk asked if I wanted one, I said yes, bought it!!!! Hopefully more arrive by the holiday, but I'm still thinking that it will sell out during those times, and be another shortage after.

Re: Editorial: Nintendo Switch is About Colour, Fun and Sharing Games, For Those Unsure of Its Purpose

JLPick

After the gamecube days, the nintendo consoles were only for Nintendo games and colorful kid-friendly titles (many party titles and platform adventures). Don't get my last statement wrong, that it's a bad thing, but they definitely need the other kind of games to fill the gaps. Even though I'm not into the sports sims (granted I have a few), or the fighters as much and I'm not into shooters, it's definitely something that nintendo's console should have, granted it's nintendo's own games that sell. For the ones who own multiple consoles, fine...play the big AA games on the latter and play the nintendo-AA games on the Switch, but for the ones who can't afford more than one system, making them have to sit there and choose, is a different story.

As for some of the people that are on here bashing the Playstation 4, I have to say one thing...it's not all shooters. There are over 2-dozen platform adventure games, many party games and plenty of colorful titles to choose from too...Loco Roco still looks like a game that nintendo should have made, not Sony!!!! Great game!!!

As for the momentum of the Switch, only the next 1-2 years will tell. The momentum was strong for the Wii for 2-3 years, but then faded out. IT'S ALL ABOUT THE GAMES!!!! The Wii was shot down with nothing but shovel ware. The games that were good by 3rd parties, were then hidden by the shovel ware, and then nintendo releases a title, it's a big hit, and the 3rd party title becomes lost even more...not nintendo's fault completely, but sort of in the fact that nintendo won't even really mention or advertise a 3rd party publisher's game.

Nintendo's been doing a little more with the switch though, I've seen plenty of advertisements and commercials for it, but how long will it continue, and will the advertisements always be for only the nintendo games, or will they continue? The Switch is selling, but hard to find, so it's still hard to say if it really is a huge hit or just a hit. Again, this goes into the whole waiting for the next year to see it's true selling power.

Re: Nintendo Infographic Outlines Switch and 3DS Games for 2017

JLPick

I've seen various complaints about droughts and 3rd party support, which, as I remembered, nintendo didn't give out the development kits right away to everyone, only certain companies before the reveal of the system itself, which probably led to many of the 3rd company games not making games right away for it...plus, after the un-successful Wii U, many companies were holding off on the Switch to see if it would sell well or be another flop...after the holiday, we'll see more (hopefully), and E3 doesn't tell every single game that will be released...just a glimpse of ones that will get people and shareholders excited...Sony didn't announce every game coming out this year, Nintendo did the same thing. Don't forget that there are plenty of games that will be released and we didn't even see yet too, and there's no telling what other gems will be released on the E-Shop.

Other than that, I was one that was skeptical about even purchasing a Switch, as Zelda and Mario Odyssey was the only ones that looked interesting to me, but after seeing that Kirby is in development and the previews for Yoshi and Mario And Rabbids, now, it looks like I'll purchase one possibly after the holidays! So, E3 was good to me on nintendo's side!

Re: We Know There's An Appetite For Virtual Console On Switch, Says Reggie Fils-Aime

JLPick

Sounds like they're past systems. When I got the 3DS on launch, I couldn't wait to download, but the store wasn't even available on launch...3-5 months later, it finally came. Wii U was the same way, the virtual console seemed like it took forever to come on. For some reason (and I don't own the Switch yet), seems like they like doing this kind of thing, which shows that they rush their systems out before having everything on it that they want to, then make some weird headlines and announcements to try and make it seem like it's the hardest thing to do. All Reggie has to say is 'We don't know yet' instead of throwing words around to confuse others. Nintendo needs to realize that they're not living in a Golden Castle with security guards surrounding it, and all the employees inside are Kings and Queens.

Re: LEGO Worlds Puts the Blocks in Place for a Fall / Autumn Release on Nintendo Switch

JLPick

This game is not that bad, it's actually fun to play and create, just not the biggest levels and worlds and the story mode isn't huge. If it was $60, it would be disappointing, but when I bought it at $30, it was worth the price...you get your money's worth and after the various updates, they did add a little more to it! For a cheaper Lego game, it's fun to play (I own it on PS4). With the Switch being touch screen, could be good...suprised it never was released on 3DS. You Switch owners should be happy with it, as long as you like the Lego games! When I purchase a Switch, this is one that I'd pick up again!

Re: Feature: Our Nintendo Hopes and Dreams for E3 2017

JLPick

As I'm not a Switch owner yet, I'd like some announcements on some games coming to the retail side, that can entice me to actually want to purchase one sooner, so, even though I'd like to see some more about Mario Odyssey (which really reminds me of Sonic Adventure for Dreamcast in a way), I'd also like to see some new announcements like a proper Animal Crossing title and new Pikmin and new Kirby Adventure...however, some new IP's too. The only things I really don't want to see is a bunch of games that are already out on the PS4 and XBONE, or ports of the Wii U titles (granted I'd love to play the Wii U games on it, I just don't see that being announced at E3 to get others excited). I also don't want to see nothing but Indie games on the download side, as I believe nintendo needs to focus on the retail side to showcase the system more. Alas, I'd like to know about the Virtual Console, but I don't want that being a long broadcast. Other than that, I'll be working the day of E3, but I'll follow Nintendo and Sony all the way when I get off!!!! Looking forward to a great one with some great announcements on both consoles and I hope I don't get too disappointed!

Re: Editorial: The Nintendo Switch, E3 and Its Opportunities for Quick Wins

JLPick

@ballistic90 People don't look at that though. I own a PS4, and almost all of the exclusives are ports from just one generation ago...however, the ones complaining, are the ones who want Gamecube games on the Switch, which that's almost 5 generations ago...doesn't make sense, but it's good for the ones that never owned a Wii U, just like the ones on PS4, for the ones who never owned a PS3 and vice versa with the Xbox. Technically, Splatoon 2 kind of looks like a re-release of the original too, just with a few more things added.

Re: Editorial: The Nintendo Switch, E3 and Its Opportunities for Quick Wins

JLPick

I have hopes for some good game announcements, but if they're only focusing on this year and not beyond, then I'll be let down. So far there is no incentive of myself purchasing a Switch, and I'm sure most of the E3 coverage will be about the E-Shop's Virtual Console finally coming to it, or more indie titles that won't be getting a physical copied release, which is not what the system needs...it needs the games on the retailer's stores to show that the system is a 'worthy' purchase for consumers. I'm a parent, but I love games...for those parents that have no idea about sites like these or the E-Shop stores on systems, and my kids wanted one, I'd go to the store, look at the amount of titles available on the systems, and go for the one that has the biggest library...which would showcase the PS4 and then the XBONE...where Switch, when I look in the stores at the present, only has about 3-4 games shown, a bunch of Amiibo figures and accessories for it...no console and empty slots that are filled with multiple copies of Zelda and a bunch of 3DS games just to fill the emptiness. Come on, nintendo, get on the ball, or are you wanting a hit console that will soon fall because of the lack of games for it...and please, we all know Arms and Splatoon 2 are coming to the Switch, as well as Mario Odyssey. Focus on some others, and not just Pokken Tournament DX, but showcase something that wasn't on the Wii U and some new IP's, and if you announce a new Metroid, Pikmin, Animal Crossing (a main game series one, not party) or F-Zero, you'll have me actually wanting to purchase one. Until then, Zelda and Mario Odyssey aren't going to be the only games that are going to make me fork over $300 before the holidays.

It's nice to see that arcades are even still around in general. Times were fun in the 80's to early 90's being able to find arcades and have some good times, but now...kids of today don't even know about them (much like video stores and music stores...granted some music stores are still around). Just a shame and shows how much life was better in the past with there being more for kids to do.........BACK on topic though, it's a phase that died out in the US quite some generations ago, so it wouldn't be a surprise to see it ending over there too. Guess if people want to play the arcade machines anymore, it's time to fork over the money and purchase some for your own use, or just stick with consoles and PC.

Re: Guide: A Nintendo Fan's Breakdown of E3 2017's Press Conferences and Events

JLPick

This should be a good E3. If I remember reading on other game sites (push square for one), Sony has the biggest amount of space reserved with nintendo in second. Microsoft has the smallest. Should be good to see what sony and nintendo have up their sleeves (sorry, don't care for Microsoft)...especially since I may actually buy a switch next year, nice to see some games for it that I'd want.

Re: E3 is Coming, Which Means Anonymous Super Smash Bros. Switch 'Screenshots'

JLPick

The only way I'd get hyped, is if they actually put a story mode into it. For some reason, when I owned the Wii U, I hated this Smash compared to the Wii and Gamecube's version, and the Wii version still resides as the best one to me, but in all honesty (and I'm sure I'll get hate for this) all of the Wii U games seemed rushed and kind of 'cheap' compared to what nintendo actually does with games in the past...'cheap' as in quick to beat and not as 'wonderful or exciting' as what they were on the Wii and in the past. I honestly hope that they're working on a new Smash, as I'm thinking that since they only reason one Smash and one Kart per system, I'd be thinking that this would be the only Smash on the Switch...a re-release, just like I'm thinking Mario Kart 8 will be the only mario kart on the switch...which is also a re-release. I guess I'd rather see new versions of each, especially the double rider from gamecube in a new Mario Kart title (especially since they could easily add way more players...how about Captain Olimar with Pikmin or even Kirby?) With so many beloved IP's, they could definitely add even more!!!!

Re: Capcom's Future Output For Switch Depends On Ultra Street Fighter II Sales, States COO

JLPick

And this is the reason I'm holding out on purchasing a Switch...I kind of know what's going to happen, and it will be up to nintendo (once again) to fill the game slot and the only other things added will be nonstop indie games on the E-Shop (which will make the retail scene in stores for the Switch look bare and depressing...like the Wii U was) and the games that will be downloadable will be cheap and cheesy titles that won't be worth the money. Hopefully the slack picks up, but Street Fighter didn't sell well on the PS4 (which I know is a different version) and I doubt the Switch version will sell well either...so Goodbye cap com, which also means that it's goodbye to them supporting the virtual console when it comes over to. I'm really hoping that the Switch isn't going to turn into another Wii U...at least the sales are higher...as I'd love to own one (especially if the Rabbids and Mario game is actually being made!!!!), but it's looking like I'll just stick with the PS4 and re-play my older nintendo consoles instead (greatest love to the Gamecube, N64 and NES).

Re: Level-5 Is Working On At Least One Nintendo Switch Game

JLPick

@Kimyonaakuma I hope it does too, but it seems Sony exclusives are also coming to PC, just like Microsoft's exclusives are also coming to PC. Not giving up hope, but I just have my doubts about it coming. However, something new in the form of an adventure-RPG like it or similar to it would be a nice welcome too...it will give nintendo something that the other consoles don't have, which is definitely what nintendo needs on their consoles (besides nintendo-made titles). Granted some of the 3rd party exclusives don't do good, it's just nice to have a bigger selection, and granted I don't own a Switch (maybe by the end of 2018 or later), it's nice to know that I can look forward to more than just the nintendo-made ones that I'd be getting first!..here's to hoping that it doesn't go like the Wii era and a ton of shovel ware flows out the same time as one good game does come out.

Re: Rumour: Artwork for Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle Posted Online

JLPick

Love the Rabbids...my wife and kids and I all watch the cartoon show, and love the comedy and stupidity that's involved...in other words, it's a REAL cartoon, not meant to be serious, just fun to watch (unlike some others that I can mention that would get people criticizing me). It's good to see two franchises coming together, but for the Rabbids, I'd rather see a Rabbids and Minions game instead, or even a new Rabbids title to begin with (something like Rabbids Go Home).

back to the topic though, I doubt the poster at the bottom is real, because I really doubt nintendo would put a cuss word in a Mario game. I think the images are fake, but the rumor of this game has been circulating for quite some time, so I'm thinking that something with it will be announced at E3...finally, a game that could get me interested into actually buying a Switch (besides Mario Odyssey)

Re: Level-5 Is Working On At Least One Nintendo Switch Game

JLPick

Ni No Kuni I believe is a PS3 exclusive, and part 2 is to be a PS4 exclusive...I think Sony owns the rights to the franchise, so don't count on that one. Other than that, would be nice to see something that the other consoles won't have that actually looks brilliant and fun...possibly an RPG (granted it's not my favorite genre)...I'm just hoping that it's not something 'party-style' or cheap like many titles became on the Wii.

Re: Review: Absolutely Unstoppable MineRun (Wii U eShop)

JLPick

This kind of stuff on the E-Shop is why I haven't bought any cards for the 3DS and why I rarely downloaded anything on the Wii U when I had the system (got rid of it a few years ago). The Virtual Console is nice, but the same games always came on it. I'd like to purchase a Switch eventually (when there's more than just 3 games that I'd get), but I honestly hope the E-Shop on it is a lot better than what they have been.

Re: Video: The Complete History Of Mario Kart

JLPick

Gotta say that my favorite in the series is Double Dash for the Gamecube. It's a great series, but I honestly wish that they would keep everything from the previous ones and continue building onto it for each console. There's still more that they could do to it, and adding more of their franchise characters would be a great fit...plus, maybe do the Smash thing and start adding other companies IP's to the franchise too!

Re: Retrospective: The Awkward Birth of the DS, Nintendo's Most Successful System

JLPick

The DS was fun, but for some reason (and it could be that I grew older), I still didn't play it as much as I did the original Gameboy, Gameboy Advance and Gameboy Color. The 3DS is great right now too, but I still find myself watching it collect dust more than playing it. For nintendo's consoles, I kind of lost touch after the Gamecube, which the Gamecube is still my favorite nintendo console to date (don't own a Switch)...but I owned an NES (loved it) skipped the Super NES for the Genesis and couldn't really get used to the N64's weird controller, to the point that I favored the Dreamcast more...hated PS1 and had a PS2 for the DVD player...played Gamecube way more though. Loved the PS3, had a Wii but grew old of it, HATED the Wii U completely, kept the PS4 and love the PS4 at the moment. Will I get a Switch...eventually, but only after I see more than just a few games for it (games that aren't also on the competitors machines), and I still want to make sure it's actually going to continue being a hit and get plenty of games that aren't just nintendo-only titles. Guess I'm waiting for E3 to see what nintendo has in store!!!! Hopefully, if not this generation, nintendo can have their stars again! Maybe Mario needs to get more stars from the Party titles!!!!

Re: Project Rap Rabbit Needs To Raise Almost $5 Million For Any Chance Of A Switch Port

JLPick

Wow...love reading all of the comments...nintendo fans hating already without even seeing the game or anything else, just because the Switch would be the last version to get a 'physical' release? Come on people, it said 'physical' doesn't mean it won't be coming as a digital download!!!! Wait to see the game in action, I'm not one for funding games, as Mighty No 9 was pathetic in it's own way and ended up flopping due to the various amounts of delays...way too many delays for it! Yooka-laylee looks and feels better on Switch too, it's a shame they didn't release it on both the Switch and Wii U, but no one can blame them when the Wii U was short with consumers and the Switch is doing really well!!! Anyways, we should be lucky that this game is coming at all...and with that kind of money that they are asking for, it seems like they won't make what they are hoping for to begin with. This campaign is already dead in the water, even with the love for Parappa The Rapper.

Re: LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 Confirmed for Nintendo Switch

JLPick

Love the Lego games, even though they're pouring them out to death! Really enjoying Lego Worlds on the PS4 at the moment and hoping it moves it's way over to Switch (when I actually decide to purchase a Switch)...hmm...still trying to fully beat Lego Worlds, Lego Harry Potter Collection and still wanting to purchase Lego City Undercover and Lego Star Wars and even Lego Dimensions...something tells me I'll be waiting on this one. Hopefully we get a new and updated Lego Pirates Of The Caribbean (to go along with the new movie) and a large collection of Lego Lord Of The Rings with the Hobbit and what I would really like...bring the 2 Lego Indiana Jones together for an update. Wonder what other Lego titles would be nice to have...Lego Spongebob, Lego Simpsons, Lego Gremlins, Lego Back To The Future Trilogy...kind of can't wait to see what else will come along from Tell Tale games!!!!

Re: Feature: Ten Wii U Games That Would Find a Loving Home on Nintendo Switch

JLPick

We all know that Mario Maker will find it's way over...possibly a newer version. Honestly though, my list would included the 2x HD Zelda Remakes, Super Mario 3D World, Pikmin 3, Yoshi's Woolly World, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Donkey Kong Country and Captain Toad. In all honesty though, the list that was mentioned is almost all of the exclusives for the system, and I see Smash and Mario Maker making their way over...I just hope we get an actual Animal Crossing title that's not Home Designer or the boring Amiibo Festival.
