Re: Talking Point: The Nintendo Switch Has a Chance for Significant Success, Especially as a Portable

JLPick

I don't own a Switch (so I can't really argue about it), but I will say that until nintendo shows some other games for it, it's still not on a wish list for myself, my kids or my wife...just nothing appealing at the moment, and if we look towards the end of this year (which E3 could show a lot more) there's only Zelda, Mario Odyssey and Mario Kart to look at...have no interest in Splatoon or Arms. Other than that, we have the PS3, PS4, Gamecube, Genesis, Super NES, NES, 3DS and PS2 to keep us occupied, and the Gamecube is still my favorite nintendo console to date (over 200 games we own for it). Could prove me wrong, and as long as the 3rd parties keep releasing the games for it, I won't complain. I've been worried about the 3DS, which hasn't seen many games from companies other than nintendo within the past few years, and it seems to be falling off the scales...games are even becoming harder and harder to find for the 3DS, which is very strange. We did own a Wii U...absolutely hated the system and only played Mario 3D World...didn't really find a ton of enjoyment out of the other games for it, as they seemed rushed to keep the consumers happy who bought the system...the games weren't long enough and didn't really have the long replay value that nintendo usually puts into their games. The Wii was great for it's time, but many people started to walk away from it after it's first 3 years, and I'll admit that it got boring after a while too, I wanted to have the option of playing with the motion controls, or just a regular controller that didn't have me flailing my arms around like I was taking off for flight!

I do have concerns for the Switch, as I'm wondering on if nintendo will let the 3rd parties have their shots...advertising their games besides just nintendo's own, and keeping the 3rd parties happy in the mean time too. They need the 3rd parties, and as long as they have the various genres...especially the REAL sports sims and some other decent goodies, then it'll definitely hit its peak and surpass the Wii U...I don't see it being a problem of out selling that system, and I see it outselling the Gamecube's life cycle too...but I don't see it coming close to the Wii....man that was a long comment!!!!

Re: Plantera Is Coming To The Nintendo Switch As Plantera DX

JLPick

I bought this on 3DS without looking at videos or anything else...glad I only paid $2 for it, because this was completely boring and lacked anything that could make it enjoyable...plus, they technically gave you no way to let you know what you are to do next...like unlocking new items to use in the garden and you can't use or buy them even with having the correct funds. Not a game I'd double dip into like I would for Little Inferno (which I'd purchase again for Switch in a heart beat). Other than that, also sad to see more of the games that are already on the Wii U and 3DS making their way onto the Switch too instead of new and fresh ideas, and technically this also shows that more cheap-playing, not-long-lasting titles are going to be pouring out on the Switch, with the good games being lost in that shuffle.

Re: Hands On: Hey! Read These Hey! Pikmin Impressions

JLPick

@JaxonH They technically could put the first 2 games on the 3DS, even if they're the Gamecube ports. The 3DS was able to hold Mario 64 (the DS era) and even held Ocarina Of Time and Xenoblade Chronicles...the latter being a Wii title. If it can hold Wii games, then it surely could hold a Gamecube title...which is something that I never got that they didn't try to do on it to begin with.

Re: Hands On: Hey! Read These Hey! Pikmin Impressions

JLPick

@NEStalgia Sony still owns the rights, and I happened to see a new Avatar for Plus members pop up in the PS4 store somewhere. Would still be nice to see a new one...I remember first playing it on the PC back in the early 90's or before...kind of forget. There's been so many games that mimicked it, but for some reason, I always though of Pikmin as more an adventure-strategy title, more than what Lemmings was...I always pictured the Worms titles as a Lemmings-type game too. But, I guess we should keep this to ourselves...nintendo fans don't seem to like it if they find out nintendo copied off of something...only sony is allowed to do that!!! Anyways, thanks for the heads up, it's been so long since I remember Lemmings, and never really looked at Pikmin in that way, but I can see a little resemblance!!!

Re: Hands On: Hey! Read These Hey! Pikmin Impressions

JLPick

@thesilverbrick I agree...Metroid Prime Federation was a fun title, and people need to not look at reviews and graphics on all of the games, there are some that turn out pretty fun. Yoshi's New Island (granted it's just an updated Mario World 2) was still fun and had the nintendo charm and Chibi Robo Zip Lash was a pretty decent platform title for the 3DS. People are knit-picking on this Pikmin game because it's not like the original 3 and it's something different, and if a company doesn't try different means in a franchise, and just keeps the same thing going throughout it's life, it does get boring rather quickly and the franchise ends up dying off...then there's more complaining about a company not giving a franchise another chance.

Re: Hands On: Hey! Read These Hey! Pikmin Impressions

JLPick

Granted that I'd rather have the original 2 gamecube titles make their way to the 3DS instead, this still looks pretty good and fun, and I'll definitely be purchasing it and the new Amiibo that comes out the same day...however, I was also one that fell in love with the Chibi Robo Zip Lash game and thought Yoshi's New Island was a pretty decent title...the latter being the same exact Super Mario World 2 title with added movies. Looking forward to this one!

Re: Video: The Most Memorable Issues of Nintendo Power

JLPick

I still own every issue, as I was a subscriber from the very beginning, even getting all of the 'what are now' collectible player's guides that went along with it...even more weird in my collection is even the pamphlets that were in store shelves featuring Gameboy games, NES games, Dr. Mario fixing the machines and more. Still miss this magazine greatly, as looking at the fan arts and still looking back at the interview with Freddy Krueger (robert englund on the Freddy's Dead movie and the power glove scene) was just fun to look at. None of the other gaming magazines compared to the fun that was Nintendo Power, and I really wish they would bring it back. Playstation Magazine sort of came back, even though it's only in the UK and the US subscription to it is unbelievably high in cost (I think it would be $80 for a years worth...12 issues). Come on, nintendo, bring it back to life!

Also, does anyone else remember all of the other video game magazines that were around during the time period? I still have a few, Electronics Gaming Monthly, Game Pro and more. Sega was another good one!

Re: Deals: Nintendo Switch - Upcoming Goodies For May And June

JLPick

The games are still not something to get my excited for the system, and still...there's only Zelda and Mario Kart out right now and Mario Odyssey coming out later...not much for me at the moment to keep it worth it. But, I have a PS4 and 3DS to keep me entertained, so when the games start pouring out, or they showcase some decent titles for the Switch at E3...games that aren't also coming to PS4 (where I'd get them first for trophies), I'll delve into the Switch. Up until then, I hope that nintendo keeps the system flowing and grabbing the cash! It's nice to see nintendo back into the spotlight with a fancy system that doesn't resemble a kiddie console (Gamecube's Purple and Carry Handle, or N64's see-through green and multi colored console) or a large HD (Wii and Wii U)....plus, who knows when it will actually appear on a store shelf around here!

Re: Nintendo States That Support for the 3DS Family of Systems Remains Strong

JLPick

E3 will show a few games coming to it, but I'll be wondering if it'll be more e-shop titles than retail. I honestly, see them forgetting about it after the holiday season, maybe one more game after, but that'll be it, as the Switch will be their big selling point then. With the fact that the 3DS hasn't gotten much on the e-shop side, it just seems like it's starting to be forgotten by many developers, and most of those developers have moved onto the consoles (Switch and PS4). It's nice that nintendo is continuing to support the system, but they have actually said this before during the Wii U's cycle, and we know how that turned out this past year...plus, they also stated this during the Gamecube's final year, and only a few games came out. In other words, if nintendo had to press upon the comments from others about the life cycle of the 3DS...they're beginning to move away, it's just the fact that they have completed a few titles for it and want to get them out before it happens.

Re: Feature: The Growing Pains of Curation on the Nintendo Switch eShop

JLPick

Besides the virtual console listing and some (very little) good E-Shop games on the Wii U, there was plenty of shovel ware of weird titles that you could play for a few minutes, then forget about. This was one thing on Wii U that disappointed me to not caring about getting rid of the system. This is also something that seems to be happening on the PS4 store too, so I still see it happening on Switch too, and the good games that are fun and enjoyable will be lost. The Wii's store was pretty decent, but the shovel ware all came onto the retail scene for it, and there were some good titles that were lost due to this (I have to say that the MUNCHABLES game was a really fun little platformer game). Hopefully, it doesn't happen too much on the Switch, and I really hope the games look decent on it...especially since I'm still not fully sold on the console yet.

Re: Analyst Firm Macquarie Predicts Impressive Nintendo Switch Sales in the Coming Year

JLPick

Uhh...Monster Hunter didn't help the Wii U, so I doubt it would spike a rise in Switch sales over here in the US...maybe in Japan. Other than that, I'm still one that's not sold on the Switch yet...still (besides Zelda and Mario Odyssey...the latter will probably come out in 2018 as it will probably be delayed). I'll get a Switch when I hear Animal Crossing (not the Amiibo Festival or gimmicky one), a proper Kirby Platform title (not the dreaded Canvas Curse or Rainbow Curse) and some other goodies from 3rd parties that aren't also out on PS4 or XBONE. I DO see the sales surpassing the 14 million mark though, as the system is doing very well, and with Splatoon 2 coming out this summer, it'll have more spikes...it's just the shortages right now that are taking that number slowly to rise. The Shortages are what needs to be fixed, as this is something that nintendo seems to constantly do with their consoles and even accessories...Wii System, Wii remotes, 3DS, DS, Gamecube Memory Cards, N64 Rumble Packs and vice versa...once the system stays on store shelves, then nintendo will make the money, and we'll see if the system continues to sell well. Nintendo should have known with the hype on the internet right after they revealed it...actually, they should have known at how many people were excited when they just announced NX as a name.

Re: Infinite Minigolf Will Tee Up on the Nintendo Switch eShop

JLPick

@PuppyToucher I know. I bought in on PS3 when it was a 'mini' title and downloaded it onto the PSP until I found the Hot Shots Golf titles for PSP. Wasn't that bad, but not the best golf game either. The 3DS version picked up a little better with graphics, still kind of hard to see the swing meter and hit the button exactly where you wanted it, but it was fun for the time being while waiting for a decent golf game to arrive on 3DS (in the form of Mario Golf later). Fun Fun Mini Golf was definitely better and more enjoyable (granted I was hoping for DLC to add more courses) but...lacked in a long title to keep on playing...but it's fun to grab those coins!!!

Re: Infinite Minigolf Will Tee Up on the Nintendo Switch eShop

JLPick

@McGruber Fun Fun Mini Golf is definitely a good title on 3DS, and it's a shame it didn't get more fanbase. Would have been better if they would have also released it on Retail too. Another good one (was on PSP, PS3 and VITA and also on 3DS) is Let's Golf 3D. True Swing Golf on DS wasn't that bad either, but there's still more love for the Mario Golf and Hot Shots Golf games more!!!

Re: Infinite Minigolf Will Tee Up on the Nintendo Switch eShop

JLPick

Since I loved planet mini golf on PS3, I will definitely get this on PS4. If it's good, I'll double dip and buy it on Switch (when I finally decide to own one). Great to see the golf games are going to be making a come back on consoles...still can't wait for Everybody Golf (New Hot Shots) on PS4 this august, and if they announce a Mario Golf for Switch (been a while since a console-release of Mario Golf), then switch will become a purchase for me!

Re: Silicon Studio Extends Support For Its YEBIS Post Processing Effects Middleware To Switch

JLPick

@Cosats It's the same people that always put down a new console. I remember the whole 'PS4 has no games', and that was when it had a ton of games and various genres and even more on the store. It's just something that will always be around. Every console, from the past to the present, has pushed some older game. Look how many times sega has released a classic pack...they even did it on the genesis in the form of Sega Smash Pack vol 1, and those games that were on it, were on the system already...then came the rest of the consoles that had a sonic collection too. Nintendo, Sony, Sega and many other companies have done it...Resident Evil has been released a load of times. I guess what I'm saying, it's people that just want to complain, but they're probably the ones that are playing the system they are complaining about too.

Re: NPD Results Highlight Record-Breaking Nintendo Switch Launch

JLPick

@Danpal65 I found out I goofed after I submitted the response. Forgot the Gamecube launched with Luigi's Mansion, and the Twilight Princess game was part of the ending of Gamecube and beginning of Wii...my fault, guess I shouldn't work too many hours without coffee in my system, as my head seems to be in a 'sleep' mode!!!!

Re: NPD Results Highlight Record-Breaking Nintendo Switch Launch

JLPick

@ZurapiiYohane A Zelda game doesn't just sell the console. Twilight Princess released alongside the Gamecube, and the Gamecube wasn't a hit console. Also, PS4 didn't really have anything big releasing beside it, it was the hype for it and Sony's IP's that made it...Nintendo has the IP's, and since many still had no idea what the Wii U was, they were waiting for this, some still thinking the Wii was the last console nintendo had.

Re: NPD Results Highlight Record-Breaking Nintendo Switch Launch

JLPick

@Rumncoke25 The only way it could fall, is if nintendo really messes it up with droughts and basically turning their backs on the 3rd party companies again. It's still an impressive first launch for nintendo and any game company, but again, it depends on lifetime sales too. Wii was very popular, and that fell after 2-3 years with the amount of shovel ware (which I still don't get, because what ever console is the highest selling, that one gets tons and tons of games...shovel ware included...hint: NES, Genesis, PS1, PS2 and the current PS4) The Switch is definitely going to be a hit, but if it continues will be another thing.

Re: NPD Results Highlight Record-Breaking Nintendo Switch Launch

JLPick

@PlywoodStick It'll be like the Wii was over here in the US...it couldn't stay on a store shelf for a few minutes, and it was like that for over a year...just goes for how fast the console can be manufactured and shipped...and with the fact that many preorders weren't even filled yet, we could see the console's shelves empty for a while. I'm thinking next year around March, the console can be found in store shelves, other than that, I'll be waiting until then, as long as they have a good E3.

Re: NPD Results Highlight Record-Breaking Nintendo Switch Launch

JLPick

I'm still slightly concerned. The Wii was a very popular system too, but then the shovel ware came out, 3rd parties kind of left it and eventually, so did many people that owned it (many and many Used Wii's everywhere to be found). Hopefully, and I mean I really honestly hope, nintendo doesn't just advertise their own games and leave the 3rd parties to figure it out for themselves, it's what has given them the bad relations with 3rd parties to begin with. And, even if the system is a top seller, doesn't mean that every company will port or make a game for it...especially if it doesn't sell.

I want nintendo to succeed, only then will I buy a Switch (especially since I sold my Wii and was hugely disappointed with the Wii U). I'd like to see a bunch of exclusives that aren't just nintendo's brand...exclusives from Sega (Billy Hatcher 2 maybe, a new Super Monkey Ball, exclusive Sonic titles that aren't Boom), EA, UBISOFT, and more...but I also don't want to see nothing but the kid-friendly cartoony games, but also some sports titles that aren't the cartoony titles too. I guess, I'm hoping for a nintendo console like the NES, Super NES and Gamecube, but I still doubt I'll get that. I guess I'll still wait to see what nintendo has up their sleeves for the Switch, but I'm still not 100% or even close to that, on wanting to purchase one yet, and I've had and owned every nintendo console to date (even have the cursed Virtual Boy in my collection).

Also, I love all of the comments from the Sony and Microsoft haters. Don't know why everyone has to just like one company, but all of them ARE THE SAME. I'm not a microsoft fan, but since the PS3, I've loved the sony consoles too (namely just the PS3 and PS4 and PSP). And if people state about how bad sony and microsoft are...nintendo hasn't been the best either, and all three have made mistakes along the way...just like Sega and Atari did in the past. I still don't really see the 'war' thing, or even get it, but I'm glad nintendo is finding a system that puts them back on top (even if no-one can actually find one)...let's just hope nintendo doesn't mess up the console in the next few years, or we'll find plenty in the used section of stores.

Re: Nintendo Switch Sales Remain Strong in Japan

JLPick

@outsider83 I don't think any XBOX did well in Japan. I kind of have to admit, I never really enjoyed any of the X-boxes. Seems like it's always nintendo and sony that do well over there, but they also have all of the japanese game genres that go with them. Would be really nice if both Sony and Nintendo worked together on one ultimate console...no one would be able to compete with both companies IP's!!!

Re: Nintendo Switch Sales Remain Strong in Japan

JLPick

@Chanchozoka I see them releasing a bundle by the holidays. For now, nintendo is enjoying the money raking in...at least I'm hoping for a bundle, would be nice that when the system is actually available on store shelves, it has a game that comes with it!!!

Re: Nintendo Switch Sales Remain Strong in Japan

JLPick

Glad for nintendo, but disappointed at the people that are putting down Sony, when they're still dominating, and I doubt Switch will come close to it. Switch will definitely do better than XBONE, and as far as people are talking about the VITA, Vita is a dead system basically, just like the Wii U is. Get over it, even if you and I are nintendo fans, the Wii U was a failure, just like if you are a Sony fan, the Vita was a failure. Each company has their bad decisions and bad consoles...doesn't mean any of them are bad. I've been a nintendo fan from the start, and the collection of consoles, games and even the collectibles show it, but I love Sony consoles too (granted I never liked the PS1). I see the Switch and PS4 doing well in Japan, and I don't see them as competitive, but strong sales for both of them. When a game like Splatoon 2 or Mario Odyssey comes out on Switch, the sales will be strong on that for a few weeks...when a game comes out on PS4, the sales will be strong on that for a few weeks. It goes back and forth, but for someone to bust on one is TROLLING...even if it is just opinions. What would be the comments when PS4 outdoes Switch in a few weeks...the whole nintendoomed thing again???

Anyways, glad to see the Switch is selling well, and it gets me a little hyped into wanting to purchase it, as long as companies start making the games and keeping their promise to deliver them, but I don't want just ports of games that are already available on the other consoles. Hmm...so far, if nintendo announces a new Pikmin, Battalion Wars, F-zero or even Eternal Darkness for it, I'll be sold...up until then, it's a wait for Mario Odyssey to arrive and some other goodies!!!! Keep it up nintendo, glad to know a console by you is finally in the run again!!!! Now, don't let down your fans and screw this one up like the Wii U!!!!

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Needs to Learn Lessons From Its NES Mini Mistakes

JLPick

I love nintendo and their IP's, but I've been saddened by them on so many levels. The Wii U was horrible in my opinions, nintendo themselves didn't even seem to care about it, barely releasing any big games on it from it's 2nd year and beyond...most were cheesy few-hour games or tie-ins that didn't have much replay value (again, my opinion). They always quit making anything for their recent systems the last year of its life (N64, Super NES, Wii, DS, Gameboy, Advance, Color, Gamecube and technically, even Wii U)...then they never make enough of their systems or the accessories that go with them (Gamecube's Memory Cards, Wii's Remotes, NES Mini all together, The Switch)...and for today's day in age, the internet is the number one source to tell if your product is going to sell. After they announced the Mini and (even the Switch), the hype levels grew, which should have told them to design and make more, get them out into the shelves to fulfill not only pre-orders, but also have some for people that didn't preorder. The NES Mini never even appeared in any stores around here, and the Switch just looks weird...2 games are shown on the shelves (and I'm serious, it's only Zelda and 1 2 Switch shown), a big display (with no console to even showcase) and nothing else but a few accessories. I'm still only thinking about purchasing a Switch (even by the holiday, I only see 5 games that would end up being purchased for it). Nintendo just needs a lot of new 'younger' blood in their headquarters that know about the technology (internet) and can take nintendo out of their own little world, and enter reality. Because in reality, they're beginning to slowly hurt their name (Wii U sales showed this). In all honesty, it's starting to feel like they're turning into Atari and Sega, rather than listening to fans and consumers about what they want, and I still see nintendo screwing up partnership with most 3rd party developers for the Switch (another reason why I'm not hyped about purchasing one). As for the Mini, I never even saw one, saw it advertised in a store flyer for one week (store never got any in), saw many preorders at Gamestop (which over 75% of those people never even received one) and watched as nintendo could have made a lot more money, but refused. This also happened with the Amiibo when they first premiered (nintendo knew they would be popular, so why not make more). Nintendo's starting to dig their own hole, but instead of trying to get up out of it, they're digging in the wrong direction...The Switch didn't even seem completely ready for a launch (as the E Shop Virtual Arcade is not ready and should have been, and there are still problems with the system itself that people seem to be complaining about...which that part I understand, because all systems have that).

Hopefully nintendo can show a good E3 promise with many titles, but also showcase 3rd party titles too, not just their own, and show people games...and that the system will be found on store shelves soon enough. Around me, it was over a year before Wii's were even sitting on a store shelf for more than a few minutes.

Re: Citigroup Analysts Predict Nintendo Will Release a Mini-Switch in 2019

JLPick

In 2 years time, the Switch will finally be able to be seen on store shelves! By that time, the games that came out for its launch will be hard as nails to find...and...the next version of the Switch will appear!!! I see a slim version possibly happening (something they never did with the Wii U), but in all honesty, nintendo doesn't really do it with their consoles that much. NES, SUPER NES and Wii got it (the laters in the form of the 'core'), but Gamecube, N64 and Wii U never did. But, if nintendo is judging the system as a handheld, they could, but in all honesty, who would rather play on a smaller screen? I'd want the biggest screen if I was playing on the 'go', and I definitely don't like my fingers crammed. Time will tell, but I get a kick out of how many systems were sold world wide, and that's about how many systems nintendo actually manufactured. I'd just like the system to sit on store shelves...then I'll actually think about purchasing one of the darn things.

Re: Florida Officials Ban Inflatable Mario And Maybe Even Freedom of Speech

JLPick

When my wife and I lived in Florida (about 30 miles from orlando), I was told by authorities that I had to take down my Christmas decorations and not have a tree shown through my window...when I looked into it, thinking it was because of the various religions there, it was because they want to make sure people PAY at theme parks to see lights, rather than houses. Something tells me, that is where this story is coming from with the Mario...Mario is coming to theme parks...in all, Florida is for tourists more or less. It would be like a game store in New York City, having a large Mario statue outside of their business...would not make Nintendo World Store happy on that...but, this guy could win the case, as it is just a way of advertising, but he should have gone with a different approach...just a normal store, or something else, but not licensed characters to show it off. There's some crazy laws out there.

Re: Rumour: Russian Nintendo Store Leaks Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Bundle

JLPick

The games corners are outside of the box...also, with the box being shown at an angle, the angle doesn't go with the game cartridge (which the game is not at an angle). Also, the colored joy cons on the side, don't match the grey ones on the front. Alas, rumors that are still circulating with the Switch already out...maybe if nintendo will actually get the system out in store shelves (along with the NES Mini Classic), then people would actually know it exists!!!!

Re: Feature: What We Expect From the Nintendo Direct - 12th April

JLPick

I can see Arms being announced with a launch date...other than that, a few indie game surprises and the announcement on when (the date) and what will come to the virtual console e-shop. Other than that, Splatoon 2 will probably be E3 with more info on that, and they'll wait until E3 to announce any more games. Did Elder's Scrolls even release on the Switch yet? That seemed to go hush after the video showcasing it, and it doesn't seem like nintendo is really pushing with showcasing 3rd party company games, which is not good in the long run, as that is what they should be working on...maybe do the Microsoft and Sony thing in the beginning of their consoles to help get third parties on board, while only releasing a few first-party titles...then, the following year, games galore.

The only thing I'm wondering, is if they are going to actually announce some good things coming to the 3DS, which is slowly being forgotten and pushed away. Something tells me that the beginning of next year, we'll see the 3DS be pushed away. The E-Shop on the 3DS hasn't even been getting much on it recently, and the fact that the virtual console (which there is by far a bunch of original Gameboy titles that could be released and a lot more Super NES titles) has barely gotten anything recently, makes my concerns more...but what about the Pikmin game that they said was coming to the 3DS...was that canned or just moving over to the Switch instead???

Re: Early Stock Market Activity Suggests Switch Could Be A Bigger Hit Than The Wii

JLPick

@PlywoodStick Yeah, they were really short around where I lived. I owned 3 games for Gamecube, but had no memory card for them...eventually found one when Pikmin arrived, but it was the 59 block ones (not much blocks for the upcoming games). Eventually, I now own 2 of the 4X ones...both almost filled with my collection of 219 Gamecube games (yup, Gamecube was my favorite out of that generation). But, yeah, they were hard to find...even on launch day, they weren't even around.

Re: Early Stock Market Activity Suggests Switch Could Be A Bigger Hit Than The Wii

JLPick

If nintendo actually starts to manufacture, instead of sitting around, they'll be in business, but...just like other generations, they won't meet demands. Wii took forever for many people to find (almost over a year before it began to sit on store shelves), Gamecube's memory cards were impossible for quite a while (which was downright pathetic) and even the Wii Remotes were pathetic (until Wii Play came out). Nintendo has a history of this, but you would think that they would learn, especially when they knew the hype and demand for the switch when they first revealed it. If they get the demand, yeah, they could definitely have a better selling console than the Wii, even though I technically don't see that.

Re: Cars 3: Driven To Win Will Be Screeching Onto Nintendo Switch And Wii U

JLPick

@Mii_duck I know what you mean and feel. I don't own a Switch yet and got rid of the Wii U, but it seemed that the racing genres have faded on nintendo consoles recently. N64 (which I still own) had a heck of a lot of racing gems...so did Gamecube (which I also still own), and Wii had some, but they weren't the 'REAL' racing sims, more cartoony kart-racing titles that turned out to be more shovel ware than good. Wii U, besides NFS Most Wanted, was kind of lacking, and 3DS didn't really get many either (it's taking me forever to find Asphalt 3D, as the previous 2 on DS were pretty good). Hopefully Switch gets love, and not just the usual shovel ware titles and nothing but platform titles and party games...nintendo really needs the "REAL" sports and racing sims to add to the library and mix it up.

Re: Cars 3: Driven To Win Will Be Screeching Onto Nintendo Switch And Wii U

JLPick

@LiberatedAnimal If it's even findable. It'll be one of those games that you buy on day one, or at least within the week...baring the full price, or it just simply disappears...seems to happen with any console. My kids really wanted that Monster High New Ghoul In School and Barbie Puppy Rescue on the PS3...I wouldn't pay the high price and told them to wait until they go down...now, can't find them at all.

Re: Cars 3: Driven To Win Will Be Screeching Onto Nintendo Switch And Wii U

JLPick

I never heard of the movie, but my wife, kids and myself hate anything that disney throws (at least since the late 90's...movies haven't been good anymore in my opinion and ours). Other than that, I've always wondered why no one actually looked at the old cars from the 80's that had the same facial features and looks as this, and never sued disney for it...however, no one sued disney for Wall E, as that robot resembled Short Circuit and also a nintendo character...R.O.B.

Anyways, the game looks kind of fun, and will be a nice addition to our PS4 library...just until some nice kart-racing titles come to the console, or until we finally purchase a Switch with Mario Kart. If my kids can stand playing through the awful Kung Fu Panda: Showdown Of The Legendary Legends game, then I'm sure they can play through this one too...at least until I get the Disney Afternoon collection on PS4, and have some fun with the old NES titles of Chip And Dale, Darkwing Duck, Ducktales and Tailspin...does anyone know if this title is coming to Switch???

Re: Party Golf All Set To Tee Off On The Nintendo Switch

I have to say, I watched the video for this on the PS4's store, and it looked horrible...not a good golf-party game at all...and the reviews for it prove it on the PS4. Other than that, I'll be waiting for New Hot Shots Golf on PS4, keep playing Mario Golf Toadstool Tour on gamecube (anxiously awaiting a new Mario Golf to come to nintendo Switch (since they skipped Wii which would have been perfect and also skipped the Wii U with it).

Re: Sega Countdown Site Teases Bayonetta News Next Week

@Yasume That's what I was figuring, with it also coming over to Switch too, and also the original being released for the consoles too...if it's not that, it will be a collection of the previous 2 for all systems. Other than that, I'm not sure if Bayonetta 2 was a timed exclusive for Wii U, or if nintendo gave up the license for the game, but if nintendo did, that's all there will be...but, since even this site doesn't know what the countdown is for, it could be something else...maybe something with Sonic or all of the Sega mascots in a fighting brawl game.

Re: Nintendo's Harshest Critic Thinks Switch Will Outsell Microsoft's Scorpio

@Gold_Ranger They actually put out the same. Don't look at the NES (because they were basically the only ones in that race). But if you look at exclusives on Genesis And Super NES, it was close to the same, with Genesis having a little more...N64 fell behind compared to PS2, but Sony was smacking them out left and right with first-party titles and sequel after sequel with it. Wii had quite a few, but Microsoft was pushing out a lot...Gamecube had many and a bunch of new IP's, but Sony and (basically thanks to Sega), Microsoft had more. For this generation (looking at Wii U over the Switch for now), Sony and Microsoft had way more first-party titles than the Wii U did. I love nintendo too, but Wii U didn't have more exclusives than the PS4 or XBONE, it was just shown more because that was basically all Wii U had for it to shine. Also, this is including Retail, not the download side.

Re: Nintendo's Harshest Critic Thinks Switch Will Outsell Microsoft's Scorpio

Nintendo stopped trying to compete in the Gamecube era...which I'm still sorry to say, the Gamecube was my favorite for that era and still is. However, the Wii did not come close to PS3 or 360 graphics, and it stayed that way with the Wii U and now the Switch. Nintendo doesn't care, and apparently realizes that they'll be the second console in a house hold...who cares, they dominate the handheld market and no one has pushed them away from that no matter what company tried (Sony, Atari and Sega). Even now, even though I don't own a Switch for the time being until more games come out for it, it'll be the second console for my wife and kids and I too...we play the PS4 for the high-end titles, nintendo was always looked at for us for the kid-friendly platform party games (which is their main selling point). It's like comparing Universal Studios to Disney...disney is for the young children and Universal is for the older children...period.

Back to the topic, I see Switch beating out Scorpio and probably having better sales than the XBONE...it won't beat up PS4 and I don't see it selling out the original Wii (unless they manufacture enough of them and get them out in stores, and games start pouring out rather quickly). It'll be the second console as it won't get the big AA games...but, just like he stated in his interview, it's the first party titles on any system that sell it. I like Sony for theirs (Ratchet and Clank, Jak And Daxter, Twisted Metal, God Of War, Parappa The Rapper, Loco Roco, Wipeout, Uncharted...etc) and nintendo for theirs (Mario, Pikmin, Kirby, Yoshi, Zelda, Star Fox...etc). Sorry to say I don't own any Microsoft system (however I owned the first one and a 360 to tide me over until the PS3 went down in price, then it was PS3 and Wii over it), but Microsoft has some good ones too.

Re: Forget Scratched Screens And Joy-Con Problems, "Warp-Gate" Is The New Nintendo Switch Issue

Wouldn't it have been easier for that one person (before putting it on the internet and getting more people to follow), call nintendo themselves to sort out the issue. To me, it seems like someone was playing the system for a long time (several hours where anything that is played for several hours will get hot), get frustrated at a game, grip the system at great force to show frustration at the game, and bend it themselves. Doesn't seem like it's a system fault, just seems like it's plain stupidity in not caring for something.

Re: Poll: A Month of Nintendo Switch - Do You Think It's Heading for Success?

JLPick

@Mortenb Because there are people that expect over a dozen games in just a few weeks. People complained about the PS4 at first (and now, it's library is overwhelming to myself). Switch will catch up, then there will be too many games for the consumers, resulting in some game companies getting overshadowed with theirs. There were plenty of Wii games that were overlooked, and turned out to be really good, but got lost in shovel ware titles.

@PlywoodStick Honestly, I don't remember Twilight Princess when it launched, but it was easy to pick up on Wii...and I remember that I stopped my preorder for it on Gamecube and went with Wii instead at the time (which was weird considering I couldn't find a Wii at first...ended up walking into Gamestop one day, a month after it came out, and they happened to get in 2, asked me if I wanted one, and I bought one...then waited until Wii Play came out to find an extra remote). But, with all nintendo systems, there has never really been that much at launch, and it always ended up taking a few months to get enough games out. Gamecube only had a few (main shortage was memory cards at that time), N64 only a few (main shortage was Mario 64 at that time for me), Super NES a few, 3DS and DS just a few, Wii a good amount, but not the best, Wii U a few but again...not the best as what it could have had. Switch seemed to go the same way, and I'm sure there's other plans for it...I'm just hoping that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe isn't the only Mario Kart coming to it, since they only release one Mario Kart per generation and this is still technically the last generation one with a few tweaks and items added. Anyways, thanks for the heads up on Twilight Princess!!!!

Re: Poll: A Month of Nintendo Switch - Do You Think It's Heading for Success?

@PlywoodStick That was the way the Wii was when it came out...it was over a year, before the system itself would sit on store shelves...which was kind of pathetic that nintendo couldn't meet the demands for it. I'm seeing the Switch being the same way, which, by my standing, doesn't make the company look good, and I wouldn't care if it was nintendo, sony or microsoft doing it, it just makes them look like they don't really care, it's just the want of the money instead.

When I head into the stores, I see accessories for the Switch and signs...the only game I see on shelves is Zelda, and there is nothing else beside it except Wii U, Wii and 3DS titles and a bunch of accessories for Wii, Wii U and 3DS...almost makes it look like the system didn't even arrive yet.
