@Moviefan2k4 I must have missed it on the store, is Double Dragon IV available on the PS4 yet, or not...I live in the US, I don't know if that makes a difference or not...Guess I'm looking more forward to the Toe Jam And Earl game, but I'm interested in the Double Dragon IV, not the Double Dragon NEO
@NEStalgia You got all of that right. Since the beginning of gaming for me...Atari 2600, then the NES, then I went with the Genesis and purchased the Super NES a year later...then the N64 with the Dreamcast later (someone gave me a PS1 when the PS2 arrived)...the next generation had me a Gamecube at launch with a PS2 later (mainly for DVD) and an Xbox a few years later (for Sega's exclusives on it)...the next...Wii at launch and PS3 after the price drop, which I believe it was the Motorstorm PS3 bundle I purchased...then, the PS4 at launch and the Wii U at launch. Also had a 32x, Game Gear, all the Gameboy variations up to the NEW 3DS and the PSP and VITA...however, no longer own a few of the systems that I've listed...some were stolen, others were sold, some were traded and some were given away as gifts. Still, Gamecube and the Gamecube's controller is my favorite, and I'm really loving the PS4 with the various genres...PS4 makes me feel like I'm back in the old days, with plenty of games and genres to choose from like in the Genesis, NES, Super NES and Atari time period. I'm just hoping the Switch keeps that appeal for me, as I felt really let down with the Wii U.
@YeshaYahu5417 Plus, doctors and scientists still don't know the long-term effect of VR, which is something else to look at. I'm curious with Sony's VR, but...other than it's still too expensive for me...it's the long-term effect that I worry about. The Virtual Boy was just plain awful on my eyes, but most was due to the darkness on it, with neon red lights...no lighting in it, which is what hurt the eyes more. These new things...fine on the eyes, but I'm wondering what people feel like when they take it off after a few hours of playing.
Well, why not. I already pay for Plus (granted I got a bunch of one-year cards and redeemed before the prices went up), so I guess I'll wait and see if nintendo's will be worth it or not. Plus gave me free games and a boat load of discounts...so I get my money's worth...not really an online gamer, so if nintendo can put something nice with it...a boat load of discounts...I'd pay, but other than that, I won't if it's just to play online and rent a classic game per month (First month...Super Mario Bros...second month...Balloon Fight...third month...Legend Of Zelda...fourth month...Yoshi...fifth month...NES Baseball...yup, I see them giving people the same game that comes onto the systems the same way.
@AlexSora89 Actually, playstation plus allows you to keep the game for as long as you are a plus member...it doesn't go by a month. As long as you add the free game to your library (you don't have to download it), it's always there to download and play while you are a member. I still have plus games on the PS3 since the service came into effect, and the PS4 is the same way...I never bought Oddworld for it, and I still play the game. Microsoft is the same way too.
@NEStalgia I agree...since the Playstation one era, sony has made multiple games for younger and adults...more so going for the older game market, but never stepping away from the child market (hint...Wonderbook and many of the Move games, and even the various titles in the PS1 and PS2 library). I think, apparently just like you, that Sony appeals to a wide range of audience too, and that's why I always choose nintendo and sony consoles for gaming by myself, with my wife and for my kids...we all love both...but nintendo has more of the party games, unless the PS4 gets a new Buzz title!!!!
And they couldn't do this without showing a guy taking a number two!!!! Is he getting ready to flush a P U (WII U PUN THERE)? Commercial is pretty good...makes 1, 2 Switch actually look fun, but does the game actually have one-player gameplay??? Anyways, hopefully the system sells more than the Wii U and gamecube, to give it it's proper audience...but also, if it becomes a hit, I hope we don't get the amounts of shovel ware that the DS and Wii had gotten.
Great news...this is one thing I was mentioning for the past few years, that they need to advertise during the super bowl...a great time to advertise, and a time when Sony and Microsoft even do...even sega did in the past. Also, even though not the best commercial, it's good that they show various ages playing it throughout, as it shows that it'll appeal to everyone (more towards the teen-college age), as what they showed more of. Good to know that nintendo is putting their money to use finally, and hopefully they remember to even advertise this way next year and continue onward, even past the launch...keep people wanting it, and continue advertising, even if it's third party titles, keep advertising for the Switch...it sells more people onto it!
@th3r3ds0x I hope so. I ended up getting lucky one day with the Wii...a few weeks after it's launch, I walked into Gamestop to get some games (not even for the Wii), and they ended up getting two Wii's in...guy asked me if I wanted one, I said yes and bought it. Will never get that lucky again, but I've been glad that I was able to buy the PS4 at launch (without stores running out or waiting in line for one...never even preordered) and I even got lucky with the 3DS. Hopefully I can do the same with Switch, because I wasn't one of the lucky ones able to preorder, and I'm waiting until income tax return towards the middle of Feb to be able to get one preordered with at least 2 games for my wife.
@Slim1999 Well thanks for the 'bust and put down on me'...I can read, and even if they continue shipping out every 3 weeks, that doesn't mean a thing. They did the same with the Wii console, and...at least where I lived in Florida at the time...was still impossible to find for over a year. Plus, they also stated that same story with the NES Mini...and we see how that has happened. Also, I can READ and don't appreciate the rude comment in the beginning. Please do not respond to me again in that way.
So by the end of this new year, we'll see a large stock climb...actually, by March 3rd, we'll see a climb, but that could go down. If the Switch becomes a hit (which even with preorders selling out, does not mean that it will be a hit) and their next mobile game becomes a hit and Amiibo figures continuing selling like what they did (meaning some games need to come out that use all of them for Switch), then I see nintendo doing pretty good. However, the stock figures mean nothing if nintendo is gaining a lot of revenue. I'm not really into the stock exchange, wall street thing, but I think nintendo is one of those that climbs then plummets, only to climb again...and to the Universal Studios rides coming...that's still a ways away, so that shouldn't even really be counted yet. I don't know about Japan's, but Florida's doesn't open for a while yet.
So, the system won't be on store shelves for almost a year, people will be selling theirs on Amazon and Ebay for 50% more cost, nintendo will still have barely any manufactured, which will get more 'nintendo-doomed' related stories on the internet...and the people that actually want one, will be waiting for almost a year like they had to with the Wii. Great to see that nintendo just now saw this...maybe if they would have seen this after they had the presentation, they could have had another 2 million ready for launch...this thing will be just as hard to find as the Playstation VR.
@OorWullie That's the problems I had with it! What I love, was the fact that everyone said it launched in just 'purple' which was not true. I got it on day one and it was black, so I wasn't sure where that rumor came from...I just remember them not even selling out on it on launch, which was a shame because the PS2 had people waiting days for it to launch (which to me is pathetic).
@liveswired During the Era of the 16bit, it was Sega dominating over nintendo...so when the N64 was announced, but Sega was still dominating with it's enormous amounts of upgrades to the Genesis (which is what killed them later on), more people were focused in on them...until the Dreamcast came out, which, granted it was a powerful and great looking machine, failed. N64 could have had the win, but they made Sony angry, and Sony created their own console that nintendo laughed at...Sony won it and the next generation, then nintendo made a come back with the Wii with new technology and some old mixing it in. This just goes back to the whole console war thing and fanboys...they even existed back then, except we didn't have the internet, so it was word of mouth. When I went to school back then, that's all I heard was how Nintendo was a kiddie system and every other was the ULTIMATE gaming machine. I loved the Gamecube, but I couldn't really defend it with that weird handle on the back and the multi colors out (the pink console didn't help). Still, I became a secret nintendo fan!!!! Now, with the internet and everyone voicing their own opinions, the whole 'nintendo' thing is just seen and heard about more, but many of those people that complain about nintendo having the lack of M rated titles and 'older' gamer titles, usually end up playing the nintendo games and consoles, enjoying them, and never really look at the nintendo consoles themselves. There was an article I read somewhere back in the Gamecube/PS2/Xbox era that stated that Gamecube didn't have any RPG's...they had way more than Xbox, but everything was building up the Xbox at that time...plus, the Gamecube had many M-rated titles too...everyone talked it down though, and I stood with a Gamecube and...even to this day...a little over 200 games for it!
@Windy Right now, I'd say pick up the PS4, while there are more games to play on it and the online store is full of great classics...pick up the Switch towards the holiday, when it has more time for more retail and online games, and more time for them to make repairs to anything after it's launch...plus, the price could be a little cheaper too! If you buy a PS4, get the Uncharted 4 bundle...the game is fantastic, and you also get to choose Ratchet And Clank, Until Dawn, Bloodborne and The Last Guardian and The Last Of Us as the sony exclusives that are really good and fun to play!
Glad to know that there are others out there, that have many of the classic systems too...I'm 37 and still play my original Atari, NES, Super NES, N64, Dreamcast, Genesis, 32X, Turbo Grafx 16 and even my original Gameboy! Plus, I own many games for each console.
I guess no one should really buy a used Switch in the near future then...considering that the more you play and charge it, the faster the battery life will end. Other than that, I'm sure some company will make a battery that will work for it, and I'm sure the main user will be able to get to it eventually (or at least find a way) to be able to change it themselves. If none of this ends up happening, order replacement batteries from nintendo through mail, and ask them for directions on how to change it...eventually...about 10-20 years down the line, they won't fix the system, so it's always good to be prepared. This kind of thing is what worries me about the PS3 and PS4 controllers though...actually, any console system that uses wireless controllers...will we be able to change them. If someone actually knows that you can change the PS3 and PS4's controller battery by yourself, please let me know!
@leo13 I've been saying and wondering that too...if someone went out and bought a handheld and then a console...it's way more than $300, so I don't get the big deal out of the price either. Plus, if people think the price is too high, have them wait until black friday deals, holiday deals or possibly a year or two for the prices to go down.
I do see a few retailers taking a small price cut, or offer bundles or special deals...which is why I'm waiting until the day it actually comes out to get one. So far, here in the US, the only (and it's an okay deal) is Gamestop with trading in the PS4 or XBONE or WII U and get a certain amount of money off...other than that, I don't really get why people would trade in any one of those systems to get a hundred dollars off the system...especially if you've spent enough on the online stores...not worth it. However, I'm waiting to see if Walmart, Target or even Best Buy has any good deals on it.
This was something that I liked on the PSP and Playstation 3 games...the inside artwork, but it seemed to only be on Sony's games and a few (very few) 3rd party games. I love it, and I hope it's not just nintendo that does it...I also hope nintendo puts side prints of the title on the sides, that don't just look like typed words...one thing I've hated since the Gamecube...some were typed, and others were bright and colorful.
Fun until a joy con controller falls into oblivion! Anyways, they kind of need these funny commercials, but many people (the nintendo haters) will say that nintendo themselves are saying that it's Poop. Anyways, glad to see that they'll be advertising it, and they need a lot more commercials for it, but start showing off 3rd party games too, to keep them afloat. Super Bowl is coming up, and I'm hoping to see some nice Switch commercials during it...we all know PS4 and XBONE will be advertising during that time, so get people ready with the Switch nintendo!!!!
@NinChocolate You and Me both...I'm thinking about purchasing the system, but to have just Zelda and the E-Shop until Mario Odyssey, is kind of bad to do at the moment.
It may seem expensive, but it's really not...you get a console and a handheld...buy both separate, and it's way more expensive...plus, how many of those people that were polled would pay expensive prices for phones that do the same exact thing as the old ones???
@Nico07 There was an article somewhere too, were there were talks about Disney Infinity 4...bigger figures that would stand taller but would cost almost $100 each...imagine if they made that game and imagine what the starter pack would cost...if they did that, they surely would have gone out of business then, instead of before, but in actuality, I think the Toys To Life games are quickly coming to an end...the Nintendo Amibo's are starting to be found more and more without being out of stock constantly...some even being on sale more...and the Skylanders games are becoming rather cheap and also going on sale more...the only one I don't really see going on sale that much is Lego Dimensions, and that's probably going to the fact that the piece sets can be used as regular Lego toys and Lego is a very popular toy company...other than that, just like the Music Peripheral games, it was bound to happen...I'm actually waiting for the day when the Skylander games end.
@Romeo-75 This is the way with not just Disney, but Dreamworks and every other animation company...sequel after sequel. At least, looking at most of the disney animated sequels of the past...it's not direct to video and just repeating the same exact story over again...hence, Lion King 2, Little Mermaid 2, Mulan 2, Hunchback 2, Pocahontas 2...etc)...however, when there's a hit film, bound to be numerous sequels...look how long those Land Before Time movies are going on for! It's not just animation though, it's even live action...and yes, hollywood is out of ideas, but at least it beats remakes, re-imagining films and...what seems to be now...bringing a movie from the 80's or later back for a sequel.
@Bunkerneath Warner Bros Film Studios are actually owned by Universal, not Disney.
Back to the topic, why are people wanting this...everyone always puts down the movie-tie-in games no matter if they are fun or not. My kids have a lot of movie-tie-in games (Ice Age, Madagascar, Megamind, How To Train Your Dragon and some others) and they enjoy them to death! I actually don't even mind playing them, but I've never played any of the Cars games, and...actually...never even heard of the movies (Sorry to say that my kids hate the disney animated films and were bored to death in Walt Disney World...which in turn, my wife and I never liked them either...some of the live action movies were good and the company was good from the late 80's down, but not as great now...saying this before you Disney fans start knit picking). Guess I'll wait and see what the game is, but I'm sure it would be picked up on PS4...since my kids actually enjoyed that horrible Kung Fu Panda Showdown Of The Legendary Legends game...Snoopy was good though!
Sorry to say, that I have kids...and many people with kids should agree with me on this one...if you are a good parent, you're not letting your kids play games that long anyway, but actually doing something with them. I don't let my kids watch TV or play games that long period...if it's nice out, they're outdoors playing, if it's not nice...indoors playing a board game or with their toys...there's no way I enjoy sitting them in front of a TV for that long.
It's good to have these parental controls, and nintendo has always been better than the other consoles, so I don't know why this is big news, it's just a way to put down the other two consoles and think the Switch is going to out sell every other companies. I thought this site was to be towards nintendo and not putting down the others...I only like reading Sony and Nintendo news if they're not busting on one another, which is why I loved reading Nintendo Power and Sony Playstation magazines when they were around.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE The PS4 and XBONE didn't come with a game at first launch...neither did the N64, Dreamcast, Gamecube, PS2, PS3, 360 or XBOX at launch...it wasn't until almost a year later before they did that. I wanted a PS3 at launch...then I saw the price...I ended up paying $400 for the Motorstorm bundle that came out. Other than that, I did pay the full on a PS4 at launch, but I also preordered two games to go with it. As for the Switch, I may or may not buy it this year, but to include a game with it, nintendo would probably have raised the price. Nintendo hasn't been too cheap in things...the Wii was cheaper when it came out, but underpowered...the Gamecube went down to a $100, but it took a while...Gamecube was my favorite of that generation, but it really struggled. Wii U should have went down, but never did...even if nintendo took a loss on the Wii U, they never realized that they would get that money back with the user base and the sales of games...something that I never got with them. XBONE struggled, microsoft took a large cost by lowering the price dramatically and also having a bunch of events of giving it away for free...helped them out with it, and that user base bought more games (retail and download) and became live members, so microsoft made the loss back.
@gb_nes_gamer That's where nintendo kind of has to play around with their money. Pay money to a third party company to make a great game for the Switch...not kiddie titles, not cartoony games, not party games, but a really great looking game that is ONLY exclusive to the Switch. It somewhat worked with Bayonetta 2 only coming to Wii U, but no-one really bought a Wii U...if Bayonetta 2 came over to the Switch, and the Switch had a larger install base, would it sell better...yeah. With PS4 getting Shenmue 3 as an exclusive to them, that's a way that Sony is staying on top...they've been giving their money to other companies to make exclusives for their machine, and it's working in Sony's favor...not a lot of first party titles (more than what Wii U would have...Wii U, four years old, number of exclusives...PS4 by the end of 2017...four years old...will surpass it). Nintendo has done this kind of business in the past with their NES, Super NES and even the N64, so hopefully they look back on their past glory and realizes that they need to go back to something like that. Plus, with retro games coming back into play, it's a good time to start thinking about bringing back some of their old franchises too!
As I'm already reading some of the comments...it's already getting pathetic to say that nintendo dominates Sony now. PS4 is now known as the highest selling system of all time...it's already surpassed the PS2, which the PS2 has surpassed the Wii...with Wii being in second place. All this means, is that the Switch will definitely sell more than the Wii U, but let's look at facts...how many of those people that are pre-ordering it, will: 1. Pick it up without cancelling their preorder 2. Trade it in later on within a few months 3. Put it on Ebay at a higher cost to get more money...meaning, never actually play it or be a part of it's install base.
No matter what, this is not really news...it's not March 3rd, and really and technically, nothing can be looked at yet on if it will become a hit, and this is basically coming from one site...which there are many other stores...this site could have sold consoles for expensive prices for all we know. Not really news or something to look at, because the Switch's sales will all come down to March...and if it does sell out, will nintendo have another shortage like the Wii, where no one can find one for years...nintendo has always done this!
@MadAdam81 I think if there were more sports sims period...the Wii had too many that were compilations or cartoony ones, instead of realistic ones. Don't get me wrong, I love Mario Baseball, Mario Tennis, but I'd also love to play realistic ones...Wii U seemed to miss out on all of these...with the exception of the first few in the first months. I honestly, wish nintendo would have kept their own sports franchises around...Triple Play Baseball, NBA Courtside...never got why they just left them go, even Microsoft left their really good ones go...NFL Fever, NHL Rivals. Sega just needs to bring back their World Series Baseball, Sega NFL and Sega NHL ones!
Even though I'm not a fan of FPS's or Borderlands at all, I really think nintendo needs them to come to the Switch...if not, they have most of those consumers backing away from it. His statement is very true about people owning the Switch and also a PS4 or XBONE...I'd have the Switch and PS4, but there's other reasons why I'd rather play on PS4 than the Switch...trophies and better graphics are two things, but also...I like the PS4 controller better...and this is myself looking at the Switch's controllers, which one looks like a big dreamcast controller and the classic controllers never felt right in my hands...now, if nintendo gets me the controller that truly is my favorite, then we'll have a deal...PS, it's the Gamecube that felt right and what I would call the best controller...sometimes I wish nintendo would keep the same controllers like Sony does, but that will never happen.
The only problem with this VINTAGE systems, is that they are cheaply made and usually break quick. I have the vintage Genesis system that came out...preloaded with what they called, 80 genesis games. The wireless controllers are cheap, and since the system can play original genesis cartridge games, it took me forever to figure out how to do it...you end up hitting the reset button a few times before they load. The only other problem with that one, was the 80 games...only 40 were actual genesis games, the rest were cheap little old-style PC games...still, even though the sound was bad, the games played good and never had delays in anything. Other than that, it's a nice retro system to take with me on the go if I want, but I'll definitely play the games on my actual Genesis. I had one that also played Genesis, NES and Super NES games...one of those parts would always die and the controllers broke very easily. Other than that, it's easier and sometimes better to just buy the actual system, especially since some of them are not that bad in price. The one vintage one I'd like to see, only because I never played the systems themselves, are the Turbo Grafx 16, Turbo Grafx CD, Sega CD and the Atari Jaguar...the Jaguar was way too expensive, even for back in that day!
I'll say my opinion again! If the Switch does sell really well, they'll use it to slowly fade out the 3DS...I'm still thinking that's why they're not talking about the touch screen on it. I know the 3DS is still doing well, but I'm pretty sure that if the switch does just as well, we'll see the 3DS fade out by the end of 2018 or before...at least nintendo will and just leave it open to indie developers and 3rd parties (which are rare on that system even).
As I see it...no matter what people think, many people would be afraid of getting made fun of to take it out in public and begin playing it...as well as older people do not enjoy doing that. In doctor offices, I'd take out my 3DS at times, but other than that, I'd never feel like taking out something that a big tablet with joy con controls on the side...imagine what people would be saying! Other than that, when I eventually purchase one, it'll be sitting as a console, with very little chance that I'll take it out and use it as a portable...it's too big to fit in my pocket and I wouldn't want to mess up the screen...even with a screen protector, it'll still get dirty, and having that dirt go into the game slot or vents is a bad idea to me, especially for an expensive machine (By the way, before people comment to me about this, I do not own a cell phone and don't want one, I don't own an I Pad, only a laptop...and I don't own a 3DS or VITA anymore either). I can see kids using it, but that comes down to parents stuffing it in purses or backpacks...something fathers won't do either, at least I wouldn't do for my kids. Other than that, it'll be a console hybrid, that's it!
@bitleman I had a VITA for a year, before I was finding it hard to find any games for it (my area barely has anything for it)...the same is starting to happen to the 3DS, with only some of nintendo's own being in the stores...more Amiibo figures in nintendo's sections than anything else, with Wii games (yup, Wii, not Wii U) coming in second. I still hope Switch gets it all, but I doubt it, as it seems any kind of game is coming to PS4 instead. 3DS, at least what I'm thinking, will probably end at the end of this year...at least with nintendo ending their part in it...I'm thinking that if the Switch sells enough, they'll end their time with the 3DS, focusing more onto the Switch...especially if the user base becomes bigger...sort of like what Sony and Microsoft do with their systems...PS4 has a bigger user base than the PS3, what will Sony focus more on? Kind of why I'm hoping Switch does good, because it really seems like nintendo wants to focus on just ONE system, instead of having their teams work on two...getting rid of droughts. It seems that (during the Wii U and 3DS cycles), if 3DS had a lot of games coming to it one year, than the following year was Wii U with barely anything on 3DS...and vice versa...I don't kind of get it, because nintendo has enough money and enough teams to work on a number of titles, but they don't, kind of why I'm hoping the Switch does good...before I even want to think about purchasing one...plus, I also felt left down when I owned the Wii U at launch...got rid of the system a few years ago and do not even miss it.
@cheonsacz I hear you! I have kids that come first, and I have other 'have-to-gets' before I even think about it. I'm just waiting till the holiday or beyond, when more things (games and downloads) are out for it and it's actuallly worth its...other than that, yeah, also waiting for a nice bundle or price reduction come closer to black friday.
after what nintendo did with the Wii U...and what nintendo did with 3rd parties on the Wii U...sorry to say, it's nintendo's fault. They may have become more sincere with 3rd parties, but after the failure of the Wii U, they're waiting to see if the Switch will have a stronger user base, before bringing games over to it. If there's not a big user base on the system, why make a big game for it in hopes that only a few would purchase it...this all makes sense to me as to what 3rd party companies are doing, and I agree with them all of waiting! I'm sure they have other games ready...not fully, but ready on if the system sells, but I honestly don't blame them on waiting! Nintendo has a lot to show them and consumers to get us all back! They can't rely on just their close fans to support them, and they lost many people now with basically stepping away from Wii U supporters.
Anyways, if the Switch sells good, we'll see more games released in 2018 or beyond...if it fails, count this as most of the 3rd party support. Hopefully there's more to announce by E3, as I'd like to purchase the console, but I'm holding off until 2018.
@cheonsacz Every time I look at Mario Odyseey's street date, it shows 12-31...which probably means it will be delayed into 2018, so I wouldn't hold my breath on it being a holiday release or even a release this year. Gamecube's Super Mario Sunshine was to be a holiday release for that system...it came out after the holiday, and they've (just like other companies) done it before, basically to polish it and make it the best they can.
So...besides Fast Racing, all of these games mentioned will also be on the other consoles. Can we actually get a list of exclusives that will be coming to the system the first year...Mario Odyssey doesn't count, because we all know that will be delayed until the next year, and Mario Kart 8 Ultra doesn't count because it's an ex-Wii U title, and Zelda doesn't count because it's also on Wii U...now for a list, please!
I'm really hoping more comes to the system in the way of exclusives, and not just nintendo made games that are exclusives. I'd love to see what the other companies are actually working on for it...granted I know none will be ready until 2018, but I'm not really seeing anything yet that looks intriguing to pick it up yet...still going to wait until next year, and even that depends on if the system will be a seller (which I'm really hoping) and if the 3rd parties will be there...going back to the system selling, even if there are a lot of preorders right now, how many of those preorders will be for systems that will show up on eBay at expensive prices, and how many will cancel the preorder, and how many (a few months later) will be trading it in?
I really hope the Switch is successful for nintendo, but (and yes, I'm a nintendo fan), it still doesn't look greatly amazing and it still won't be the system seller...I see their console after this one, being their strong Wii again, up until then, I see a Gamecube/N64, where we'll get some exclusives by other companies and quite a few games, but won't be the big seller...heck, I loved the Gamecube and never quite understood why people dissed it and stood away from it! I loved the Gamecube more than the PS2! My nintendo days started to change after the Wii...it got old rather quickly, and the Wii U was just not what I was expecting...could have been better, but never got there.
@bitleman Not too bad...Dragon Quest Heroes on PS4 and Akiba's Trip Undead And Undressed sold pretty good on PS4...other than that, it seems that the Japanese games sell better on portables...and that seemed to be the VITA, where 3DS seemed to be left out, which I never got, because 3DS had more buyers than the VITA. Hopefully, nintendo can get these companies back with them, even though I don't mind them being on Playstation either (sorry to say, I love both companies, somehow equally anymore). I just want an abundance of games on the Switch if I'm going to purchase it, and not the abundance that the Wii got...I don't want cheap party and cheap cartoony titles, I'd like the nice titles that it should deserve...guess that's kind of why I'm not purchasing a Switch until closer to the holiday or beyond...close to tax returns of 2018 probably, at least when more is out.
@kenrulei PS3 has already lost most of the online activity, plus, their store hasn't been updated fully for a while...just Avatars and Themes added. Most support moved over to the PS4 after it's successful launch. 360 is the same. Wii U will be the same, and I think after the first few months of the Switch, the 3DS will become the same (if the switch is a success). Nintendo, just like Sony and Microsoft, will add more to the one that sells the most, which is why I think nintendo is keeping the 3DS going and not talking about killing it yet...if the Switch becomes a failure, they have the 3DS to back up on...if Switch becomes a hit, I see them ending the 3DS a few months later...not fully at first, but you won't see much from nintendo for it (E-Shop included).
Sad to say that I'll be waiting until 2018 to maybe buy one. Besides Zelda on day one, I'll wait until Mario Odyssey comes out (which I doubt by the holiday, i'm thinking 2018 at the earliest). Other than that, most of the games coming out for it (besides nintendo only titles) I'll get on the PS4 instead right now, plus, after the Wii U fiscal, I'll wait to see if nintendo is going to keep the 3rd party titles going and what they will do with the system...there's still a trust issue with nintendo anymore, and I still, for some reason, don't see the system taking off. There may be a lot of people pre-ordering and saying that they'll be buying, but how many of those systems will be used to sell for higher prices online and how many will be traded in by the holiday season. The only thing I see about myself waiting, is that more games will be available for it by then, which means, more to play and more items will be available on the E-Shop to download...which means more enjoyment out of it. 2018 for me.
@Hordak Your opinions are correct! Except I don't agree with Mario Kart 8 looking better than many games on the PS4 and XBONE...to me it still wasn't a great leap that it could have been. I always thought the Wii U could have been better if it would have sold better, thus leading to even nintendo themselves making better games, but it never really seemed to happen. I honestly liked the Wii U...had some games that kept me playing, but it seemed to me that the games lagged in what nintendo could do...they were games that were playable for a few hours and that was it...cheap tie-ins and cheap games to make a profit for nintendo but also make the Wii U owners happy until something better came, or just to fill some space on the retail store side to make it look like the system has something on it. What you stated about the internet is completely true, and it's always going to be like that, which leads to the people that buy the system and the games, to let the word out. I own the Ghostbusters game on PS4 (yup, the one that got the worst reviews possible) and I actually liked it...it was fun, not the best graphics, not the best gameplay, horrible voice acting, but it was fun, and I beat it fully earning all of the trophies...my wife and I love playing it, which shows that I don't look at the graphics, I enjoy games for the fun factor...if I have a game that I can actually play through, beat it and replay it again, that's a fun game to me! Probably why I always end up choosing nintendo and sony for my game consoles, and why I love playing games by Sega even (yup, owned the Genesis, 32X, Game Gear and Dreamcast back in the days...still have all).
Well, with the Playstation 4 outselling the Playstation 2 at the moment, and still going strong (possibly to become the highest selling system of all...beating the PS2), it could happen, but not with the Switch. I see the Switch selling better than the Wii U and the Gamecube, but I see it being on par with the N64's sales...not really coming close to the Wii. It'll sell on launch, but how many of those people will be putting them online for higher costs or trading them in later on? I see it selling more towards the holiday season, but that will be up to nintendo to make decent bundles or price drops to help it move...no matter what (even if the system is under par of the PS4 or XBONE), they're going to be competing for sales...no matter what, so they need to get those consumers buying the Switch...but it's not going to become a state of 'LET'S BUY THE SWITCH INSTEAD OF A PS4 or XBONE'. Nintendo fans will buy the Switch...which will equal to most of the 13mill that bought the Wii U...it's up to nintendo to make the rest of the people buy it, which is not in nintendo's favor right now...they still have a lot of work to do to repair their reputation, which is why I'm seeing their next console (after the Switch) becoming their money maker glory like the Wii, instead of this one.
@Tasuki I found a place that deals with vintage toys...basically what they call a 'Geek Store'. There's a Neo Geo there that he wants $50 for...but he has no games for it...this is the same place that I found an unopened Virtual Boy for $20, and just so he could get rid of it, he had 4 games for it too (those four were also unopened) that he bundled with it...not that bad, considering it will probably be worth money in the future...never opened it, as I remember playing it in stores when it came out, and it gave me a headache, but just wanted to add it for collection-type thing. The Turbo Grafx I don't have many games for...hard to find for, and when I do find games for it, they're outrageous in price. Other than that, you have a good collection too! I'm actually glad to know that there are other people like me, that collect them.
@electrolite77 There's one that I have called the Electric Steam Punks...yeah, don't know who they are either, and the songs weren't even good, just one of those things that I found it cheap, picked it up to boost up my collection of cassettes at the time. I don't know if you can even look them up to see, I've tried to look up the artist with zero results, but it was something neat. If I find my cassette collection again, I'll snap a picture and post it on here for you!

Re: Video: New Extended Nintendo Switch Trailer Showcases Launch Window
@Moviefan2k4 I must have missed it on the store, is Double Dragon IV available on the PS4 yet, or not...I live in the US, I don't know if that makes a difference or not...Guess I'm looking more forward to the Toe Jam And Earl game, but I'm interested in the Double Dragon IV, not the Double Dragon NEO
Re: Video: New Extended Nintendo Switch Trailer Showcases Launch Window
Re: Nintendo Outlines Pricing Range for Switch Online Service
@YeshaYahu5417 Plus, doctors and scientists still don't know the long-term effect of VR, which is something else to look at. I'm curious with Sony's VR, but...other than it's still too expensive for me...it's the long-term effect that I worry about. The Virtual Boy was just plain awful on my eyes, but most was due to the darkness on it, with neon red lights...no lighting in it, which is what hurt the eyes more. These new things...fine on the eyes, but I'm wondering what people feel like when they take it off after a few hours of playing.
Re: Nintendo Outlines Pricing Range for Switch Online Service
Re: Nintendo Outlines Pricing Range for Switch Online Service
@AlexSora89 Actually, playstation plus allows you to keep the game for as long as you are a plus member...it doesn't go by a month. As long as you add the free game to your library (you don't have to download it), it's always there to download and play while you are a member. I still have plus games on the PS3 since the service came into effect, and the PS4 is the same way...I never bought Oddworld for it, and I still play the game. Microsoft is the same way too.
Re: Video: New Extended Nintendo Switch Trailer Showcases Launch Window
@NEStalgia I agree...since the Playstation one era, sony has made multiple games for younger and adults...more so going for the older game market, but never stepping away from the child market (hint...Wonderbook and many of the Move games, and even the various titles in the PS1 and PS2 library). I think, apparently just like you, that Sony appeals to a wide range of audience too, and that's why I always choose nintendo and sony consoles for gaming by myself, with my wife and for my kids...we all love both...but nintendo has more of the party games, unless the PS4 gets a new Buzz title!!!!
Re: Video: New Extended Nintendo Switch Trailer Showcases Launch Window
And they couldn't do this without showing a guy taking a number two!!!! Is he getting ready to flush a P U (WII U PUN THERE)? Commercial is pretty good...makes 1, 2 Switch actually look fun, but does the game actually have one-player gameplay??? Anyways, hopefully the system sells more than the Wii U and gamecube, to give it it's proper audience...but also, if it becomes a hit, I hope we don't get the amounts of shovel ware that the DS and Wii had gotten.
Re: Video: Nintendo Pushes The Social Play Angle With Switch Super Bowl Commercial
Re: Nintendo Is Ramping Up Switch Production Following "Good" Pre-Order Demand
Re: Nintendo Is Ramping Up Switch Production Following "Good" Pre-Order Demand
@Slim1999 Well thanks for the 'bust and put down on me'...I can read, and even if they continue shipping out every 3 weeks, that doesn't mean a thing. They did the same with the Wii console, and...at least where I lived in Florida at the time...was still impossible to find for over a year. Plus, they also stated that same story with the NES Mini...and we see how that has happened. Also, I can READ and don't appreciate the rude comment in the beginning. Please do not respond to me again in that way.
Re: Feature: The Rollercoaster Ride of Nintendo's Financial Reports
Re: Nintendo Is Ramping Up Switch Production Following "Good" Pre-Order Demand
So, the system won't be on store shelves for almost a year, people will be selling theirs on Amazon and Ebay for 50% more cost, nintendo will still have barely any manufactured, which will get more 'nintendo-doomed' related stories on the internet...and the people that actually want one, will be waiting for almost a year like they had to with the Wii. Great to see that nintendo just now saw this...maybe if they would have seen this after they had the presentation, they could have had another 2 million ready for launch...this thing will be just as hard to find as the Playstation VR.
Re: Feature: Nindies and Nintendo Switch - Developers Reflect on the New Console
Re: Feature: Nindies and Nintendo Switch - Developers Reflect on the New Console
Re: Feature: Nindies and Nintendo Switch - Developers Reflect on the New Console
Re: Nintendo Will Replace Your Dead Switch Battery, At A Cost
Re: Nintendo Switch Dips to €299 on Amazon France
@leo13 I've been saying and wondering that too...if someone went out and bought a handheld and then a console...it's way more than $300, so I don't get the big deal out of the price either. Plus, if people think the price is too high, have them wait until black friday deals, holiday deals or possibly a year or two for the prices to go down.
Re: Nintendo Switch Dips to €299 on Amazon France
I do see a few retailers taking a small price cut, or offer bundles or special deals...which is why I'm waiting until the day it actually comes out to get one. So far, here in the US, the only (and it's an okay deal) is Gamestop with trading in the PS4 or XBONE or WII U and get a certain amount of money off...other than that, I don't really get why people would trade in any one of those systems to get a hundred dollars off the system...especially if you've spent enough on the online stores...not worth it. However, I'm waiting to see if Walmart, Target or even Best Buy has any good deals on it.
Re: Gorgeous Nintendo Switch Game Boxes Get Shown Off in Japanese Stores
This was something that I liked on the PSP and Playstation 3 games...the inside artwork, but it seemed to only be on Sony's games and a few (very few) 3rd party games. I love it, and I hope it's not just nintendo that does it...I also hope nintendo puts side prints of the title on the sides, that don't just look like typed words...one thing I've hated since the Gamecube...some were typed, and others were bright and colorful.
Re: Video: New Nintendo Switch Advert Shows Off Its Number Two Feature
Fun until a joy con controller falls into oblivion! Anyways, they kind of need these funny commercials, but many people (the nintendo haters) will say that nintendo themselves are saying that it's Poop. Anyways, glad to see that they'll be advertising it, and they need a lot more commercials for it, but start showing off 3rd party games too, to keep them afloat. Super Bowl is coming up, and I'm hoping to see some nice Switch commercials during it...we all know PS4 and XBONE will be advertising during that time, so get people ready with the Switch nintendo!!!!
Re: Japanese Gamers Think Nintendo Switch Is Too Expensive, But Don't Mind Paying For Online Access
@NinChocolate You and Me both...I'm thinking about purchasing the system, but to have just Zelda and the E-Shop until Mario Odyssey, is kind of bad to do at the moment.
Re: Japanese Gamers Think Nintendo Switch Is Too Expensive, But Don't Mind Paying For Online Access
It may seem expensive, but it's really not...you get a console and a handheld...buy both separate, and it's way more expensive...plus, how many of those people that were polled would pay expensive prices for phones that do the same exact thing as the old ones???
Re: Warner Bros Resurrects Disney Infinity Studio Avalanche For Cars 3 Video Game
Re: Warner Bros Resurrects Disney Infinity Studio Avalanche For Cars 3 Video Game
Re: Warner Bros Resurrects Disney Infinity Studio Avalanche For Cars 3 Video Game
Re: Parent Trap: Nintendo Switch Parental Controls Beat Console Rivals To The Punch
Re: Swedish Retailer Says Its Nintendo Switch Pre-Orders Are Higher Than They Were for PS4
Re: Swedish Retailer Says Its Nintendo Switch Pre-Orders Are Higher Than They Were for PS4
Re: Swedish Retailer Says Its Nintendo Switch Pre-Orders Are Higher Than They Were for PS4
As I'm already reading some of the comments...it's already getting pathetic to say that nintendo dominates Sony now. PS4 is now known as the highest selling system of all time...it's already surpassed the PS2, which the PS2 has surpassed the Wii...with Wii being in second place. All this means, is that the Switch will definitely sell more than the Wii U, but let's look at facts...how many of those people that are pre-ordering it, will:
1. Pick it up without cancelling their preorder
2. Trade it in later on within a few months
Re: Nintendo Has Involved Third Parties "Since The Beginning" With Switch, Says EA's Patrick Söderlund
Re: Switch Will Succeed By Offering Something You Can't Get On PlayStation Or Xbox, Says Randy Pitchford
Re: Hardware Review: Putting The Retro Freak's Range Of Accessories To The Test
@Biffclaven The controllers that usually come with these vintage systems are just plain horrible.
Re: Hardware Review: Putting The Retro Freak's Range Of Accessories To The Test
Re: Video: Here's The Switch Touchscreen That Nintendo Apparently Doesn't Want You To Know About
@Anti-Matter I hope not for the phone calls...it was a mess when they added that on the PSP!
Re: Video: Here's The Switch Touchscreen That Nintendo Apparently Doesn't Want You To Know About
I'll say my opinion again!
Re: Talking Point: Is the Nintendo Switch a Handheld or Console? Does it Matter?
Re: Here's How Dragon Quest Heroes II On Switch Shapes Up Against The PS4 Version
Re: Feature: 10 Intriguing Third-Party Nintendo Switch Games for Your Wishlist
@cheonsacz I hear you! I have kids that come first, and I have other 'have-to-gets' before I even think about it. I'm just waiting till the holiday or beyond, when more things (games and downloads) are out for it and it's actuallly worth its...other than that, yeah, also waiting for a nice bundle or price reduction come closer to black friday.
Re: Nintendo Has Involved Third Parties "Since The Beginning" With Switch, Says EA's Patrick Söderlund
@MadAdam81 So did Sega...those 3 were basically the only ones who did support it.
Re: Nintendo Has Involved Third Parties "Since The Beginning" With Switch, Says EA's Patrick Söderlund
after what nintendo did with the Wii U...and what nintendo did with 3rd parties on the Wii U...sorry to say, it's nintendo's fault.
Re: Feature: 10 Intriguing Third-Party Nintendo Switch Games for Your Wishlist
@cheonsacz Every time I look at Mario Odyseey's street date, it shows 12-31...which probably means it will be delayed into 2018, so I wouldn't hold my breath on it being a holiday release or even a release this year. Gamecube's Super Mario Sunshine was to be a holiday release for that system...it came out after the holiday, and they've (just like other companies) done it before, basically to polish it and make it the best they can.
Re: Feature: 10 Intriguing Third-Party Nintendo Switch Games for Your Wishlist
Re: Here's How Dragon Quest Heroes II On Switch Shapes Up Against The PS4 Version
Re: Poll: A Week On, How Do You Feel About the Nintendo Switch?
@marko Exactly...which is why I'll be one person waiting until 2018 for the Switch.
Re: Poll: A Week On, How Do You Feel About the Nintendo Switch?
Re: Poll: A Week On, How Do You Feel About the Nintendo Switch?
Re: DFC Intelligence Believes Nintendo Switch Can Shift 40 Million Units by 2020
@Hordak Your opinions are correct!
Re: DFC Intelligence Believes Nintendo Switch Can Shift 40 Million Units by 2020
Well, with the Playstation 4 outselling the Playstation 2 at the moment, and still going strong (possibly to become the highest selling system of all...beating the PS2), it could happen, but not with the Switch.
Re: Reggie on Wii U Support Going Forward
Re: Soapbox: It's Nintendo's Job To Make Switch A Success, Not EA's, Ubisoft's Or Capcom's
