The trailer makes the game look great, but it might just be a great marketing team that's hiding the rough edges well. For instance, the attack animations look awesome, but it might just be a few specific ones they put effort into like in SW/S with the majority of them looking bad.
No. To all. The reason Nintendo has such a loyal fan base in the first place is because they're one of the only gaming companies left that steers clear of this nonsense. The Nintendo fan base likes paying a one time fee and getting the whole game. If we lose Nintendo to microtransactions the only bastion left for gaming is indies.
Not sure why anyone would really need a review to know if they want BDSP. It was pretty obvious from the first announcement exactly what you're getting: Diamond and Pearl with a chibi art style.
Not sure it deserves quite that low. From videos I've seen it seems to have the graphical quality and framerate issues of well, a PS2 game. Still bad by today's standards, but the lowest metascore for a Switch port IMO should go to one of the blatantly broken ones like Civ 6 or Neverwinter Nights.
Link fluency uses AI to determine whether a conversation is negative or positive, which could lead to a lot of problems. For instance Snorlax being one of the lowest is probably due to him being associated frequently with words like "fat" and "slow" which are not necessarily used in a derogatory way towards him but are rather fundamental traits of the pokemon.
Hopefully having a main character that isn't a pervert will solve one of the biggest problems with the original game. Definitely looking forward to this!
I only bought this game because my favorite musical group, Mili did the soundtrack for it. If I'm being totally honest, I thought the game itself was going to suck.
Having played it though, not only is the music as great as I hoped it would be, the game itself is really enjoyable as well!
@Darkyoshi98 If you read the details of the lawsuit, it explains that she didn't know about it until recently. Presumably she found out about it due to people making the connection and contacting her after the data breach.
I do think it's an underwhelming follow up to how excellent Layers of Fear was. The main problem is that it mainly uses the same tricks as the original (many of which were also repeated in Observer, no less) so the formula is starting to get a bit stale. That being said, 5/10 seems a bit harsh. I think this game would be closer to around a 7.5/10 for newcomers, downgraded to a 7/10 if you've played Observer and the original Layers of Fear since it will mean you've seen it all before.
I'll be honest, I expected a Visual Novel written by the guy that wrote the story for Metroid: Other M to be pretty bad so I'm pleasantly surprised it's getting decent reviews.
To those commenting that NintendoLife's review didn't talk about the serious bugs enough, I want to point out that I've encountered similar issues with Civilization 6 on the Switch and Book of Unwritten Tales 2 for the Wii U also having serious game-breaking bugs that weren't brought up in the reviews on this site. I think some reviewers might cut corners. They don't really have the proper time to fully play every game they are supposed to and will write up a review based on a few hours of play and consensus from other reviews that are out for previously released versions of the game without the same issues as the port.
"over 200 pokemon" is a bit of a disappointment, since that means most pokemon probably won't be in the game. Still, unlike Sw/Sh at least this game has the excuse that they put a lot of effort into the models.
People here are complaining about the PS4 app being terrible but the website is equally awful. Fullscreen doesn't even work unless you have multiple monitors, because it always detects your mouse being on the screen and never gets rid of the UI.
It's a very, very low bar but if this lets me watch the new Higurashi in fullscreen I guess it's worth it.
Fantastic game so I'm glad to have it on Switch. Although if you're too impatient, this game runs on a potato basically so you could get the Steam version even if your computer isn't great.
When I was a kid my family would go to this big New Year's Eve party every year with a wealthy family from our church. They had a Nintendo 64 there (all I had at the time was a SNES) and I remember being really disappointed because the only games they had were Glover and Mario Golf. Like, the N64 was the coolest thing in the world to me at the time, and it would have been super exciting going there every year if I could have played Super Smash Bros or Super Mario 64, but nah it was always just "here's Glover!" and I tried playing it and it was confusing and weird and I hated it, and I'm only now realizing that I have an irrational amount of bottled up hatred towards this game.
This series is kind of hard to recommend because it's just the most average of average games, and there are several tactical RPGs on the Switch I'd recommend over it: Fire Emblem, Disgaea, Brigandine: Legend of Runersia, Divinity: Original Sin 2, Valkyria Chronicles, Mario + Rabbids...
That being said, average is not bad, and if you're a desperate tactics fan that has exhausted all of your other options, I guess the Mercenaries series is there.
Man I wish they would release the Switch version of Higurashi in the West. It's got voice acting, animated sprites, CG scenes... all we got is the barebones steam version.
Fragile Dreams: Farewell Ruins of the Moon is sitting at 8.2 right, just barely missing out on being in this list. If you enjoyed the game, go to the page and rate it so we can get it on here. I mean, nobody REALLY cares about Mario Super Sluggers, right?
Man, I would kill for the original, good Star Wars Battlefront 2 to be released again with online play. I had the PS2 version and spent countless hours fighting bots, but never got to experience playing it properly and probably never will thanks to EA
All 4 of my joy-cons drift, so I pretty much can't play handheld mode. On the rare occasion I play it off the dock, I'm basically holding a controller with the switch on my lap. It's not very comfortable or practical, but there's not much else I can do.
10 different outcomes huh? Let's see... -5 where you end up with each of the girls -You realize the real love of your life was the "wingman" the whole time. -Forever alone -Arrested for stalking -Harem -One of the girls goes full yandere and murders all 6 of the other characters and then kills herself.
Looking around the internet, this seems to be a love it or hate it game. Most of the reviews are around the 7-8 range, it's only this review that's so negative. I think this is one of those games where the mechanics click and work well for some players, but are confusing to others. This reviewer happens to be one of the latter.
I saw the headline and thought "that's stupid" but then I saw her merch and... yeah she's pretty blatantly just selling outright pokemon merch without permission so I get it.
I can't help but agree with this article. I recently played one of their games, Hypnospace Outlaw, and it was excellent, but I would never have heard of it if it hadn't been featured in a Nintendo Direct. Since I play a lot of those types of cheap "experimental" type games like Telling Lies and Stories Untold, it should have been something the eShop recommended to me.
The coin collecting sound effect bothers me. Those N64 era platformers always had a crisp "shiny" sound effect for collecting things and that little blip is so underwhelming in comparison.
Hear me out guys: Nintendo cracked down on AM2R shortly before Metroid: Samus Returns. They cracked down on the Super Mario 64 HD fan remake shortly before releasing Super Mario 64 in HD as part of the 3D All Stars collection.
And now they are cracking down on a Princess Peach hentai game... 18+ Peach game confirmed?
How do we know they didn't leave them in on purpose because it makes the level easier to play since you can see the path?
This being my first time playing Sunshine, I didn't think anything of it. It's very common for Mario games to use dotted lines like that to mark the path a platform will take, so I thought it was intentional. It's nothing to get worked up over, whether intentional or not.
Thank you for confirming that you can use motion controls with the pro controller- it's been shockingly hard to find that information online and that was the make-or-break for me on getting this game. Now that I know I can play this without needing joy-cons or clumsy handheld touch controls, I'm pre-ordering!

Re: Talking Point: Everyone Has A Bad Game They Love, So What's Yours?
Mario Party Advance was one of my favorite childhood games and I still think it holds up better than people give it credit for.
Arc Rise Fantasia is the perfect combination of "so bad it's good" story and voice acting with unironically good gameplay.
The recently released Retrograde Arena is a gem even if I'm the only one that can see it.
I've also had a lot of fun playing Ninja Shodown with friends and was shocked when I discovered it reviewed poorly.
