Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair launches tomorrow, and we've already decided that it's well worth your time. However, what would the lovely folks at Playtonic say if they were making one last, desperate plea to get you to part with your cash?
Ponder this question no longer, as we've enlisted those very same people to talk about what the game means to them, why it's so special and why you should absolutely open that wallet (virtual or otherwise) and make a purchase.
Let us know if you're looking forward to getting your hands on Playtonic's second game by posting a comment below.

I’m already sold on the game. Can’t wait for it.
My copy was surprisingly delivered early on Saturday, so have had a whole weekend with it.
I'm not much of 2D platformer guy, having grown up more with the 3D exploratory platformers like Super Mario 64 & Banjo Kazooie, but I have really enjoyed The Impossible Lair. The lil overworld is neat too.
I already have the game in hand! It's a lovely little box and all, can't wait to actually boot the game up and give it a spin.
Also can't wait to see those any% Impossible Lair speedruns.
Had the physical pre-ordered from Amazon UK since it came available.
@RupeeClock That's exactly what I was thinking - this will be perfect for speedrunning! I really love this concept but I'm a completionist so I won't even be attempting the final level until I have finished all the others so hopefully it won't be too easy by that point.
I have to save my funds before making such purchases....ugh....
Sold my copy of Links Awakening (after finishing the game 100%) and got this one.
I really hope it is a success for them, and this people keep on doing stuff! They´re going the right way, I think.
looks like a great environment, great team and the game is awesome glad i bought it
don't want to upset people but i much prefer the controls/handling to the DCKR series.
@HaNks
Yeah? Is it good? I loved DKTF, but are you saying that the controls of Yooka is better? I would be happy if they are almost as good. I do see some mixed reviews about Yooka, but I’m going to see for myself tomorrow
@HaNks That's been my biggest question mark. For me, DKC:TF was only all right; the way the game controlled just never felt right to me. I'm really tempted to give this a go, because a couple different sources have said that the controls are closer to the original DKC trilogy than Tropical Freeze.
@Cyrax77 the DCKR series never felt right for me due to how the platforming is excessively choregraphed. brilliantly designed? sure, but without the sense of weight and responsiveness i got from the SNES titles. Impossible Lair is closer to the originals due to how much more freedom you have with the controls
I’ll buy it but on what platform should I get it hmmm....
I'm excited for this one! The first game was, admittedly, very disappointing, but this has the potential to be one of the greatest 2D platformers in recent history.
DKC Tropical Freeze is the pinnacle of the genre. Incredible level design, beautiful environments, expertly placed enemies for time trials, pinpoint precision mechanics that utilized acceleration in movement and falling, so that your fall velocity increased as a function of time... everything felt "right" in that game. It basically broke other platformers for me. I just couldn't play 2D platformers where I didn't have that acceleration and ability to roll jump off a ledge.
But here comes Yooka-Laylee with all those same mechanics. It may not be designed quite as well with time trials in mind, and the environments may not be quite as attractive, but its the closest thing to Tropical Freeze I've seen yet, and for that I am truly excited
Got it digital cant wait for it to unlock
Love it. Great game and I love the controls. Sweet.
Does it top DKTF? No! Does it come close? No! It just doesn’t. DKTF looks a bit better and that game is just the best platformer on the Switch.
But YLatIL is a great game. A tribute to the true 2(,5)D platform games. It feels good, it’s not easy and it looks great.
