Re: Video: Learn More About the SEGA Genesis / Mega Drive and Its Battle With the SNES

@Kirk I don't think you are right. Uniracer (your first video) on SNES play fast, in expense of the graphics. In fact, Nintendo hire the team to make a game to compete with Genesis in terms of speed, and what they can come up was only Uniracer. If you play Aladdin on both systems, Aladdin on Genesis was fluid, while SNES version was like in slow motion. The same comparison can also be found in Ghoul and Globbin. It explains why most games on SNES were rpg-it does not require fast CPU processing.

There isn't a game on SNES that is comparable to sonic in terms of graphics and speed simultaneously. Nintendo decided to use a cheap CPU so as to lower the console cost.

Re: Analyst Thinks Nintendo Is Already Winding Down Wii U Ahead Of Nintendo NX Launch

@Pj1 I also have an Xbox One. I actually did not like the games on Xbox one that much (except Dance Central Spotlight) but most of their games are for more mature audience. Many of them are violence, but some of them have more content that adults can relate to (e.g., Life is Strange). Those games are definitely catering a very different group of audience than the games on Wii U.

So a potential reason of failure: lack of third party support. Nintendo is not making those types of games.

Re: Review: Super Mario 64 (Wii U eShop / Nintendo 64)

It is actually a good game, but I prefer remake to enhance its graphics, its camera, and its hint system. I did not play this game and thus nistalgia did not hit me. Some stars are difficult to get without walkthrough. But, it did its best back 20years ago, and the gameplay still holds up nowaday.

Re: Retrospective: Sega's Streets of Rage Series

GreatPlayer

Street of Rage 2 is a huge improvement over the first one. The first one and the third one, however, is not bad. All three's are better than the Final Fight series, in my opinion. Final Fight may have slightly better graphics and larger characters, but Street of Rage 1-3 have more variety in gameplay.

@CharlyDunst I know where you come from. I finished the game, and found it fun but not as fun as the early sonic titles as well as the later sonic titles. The game has an Indie feel to it: frame rate issue and unreasonable slowdown at times even in an i7 computer. The story is no good, but interesting boss design. The level design, however, cannot be compared to Sonic. Fun game to me, but no replacement for Sonic.

Re: Hardware Classics: Sega Mega CD

Sega needed to fight against NEC PC Engine in Asia. In Asia, PC Engine is more popular than Genesis despite worse graphics. WhenPC Engine announced CD rom, Sega had to follow.

I don't agree that Sega CD was worthless. At that time, CD games were big and buying a music CD player did not cost much less than buying a CD ROM player for game console. FMV games were very big back to old days too

Re: Sonic Team Boss States That There Are No Plans for the Iconic Franchise to Drop Home Consoles

Sonic 3D games are probably harder to make than Mario 3D games - sonic speed means a bigger stage is required in every of its 3D game. Also, recycling the same stage using the trick of adding time limit somehow works well in Mario 3D games but not Sonic games. Therefore, Sonic Team probably wants Sonic to be slower, as in Sonic Lost World, but the feedback is mixed (some loves it but others do not).

Anyhow, I really do not want to mix Nintendo with Sonic - Nintendo's platformers have a style that share among each other - much lower, more exploration than speed, et ceteria... I am unsure if it is always a good thing.

The problem Wii U is having now is a lack of third-party support. People have different tastes and thus Nintendo cannot just cater the taste of its adamant fans solely. If people do not like Mario and Kirby then Wii U has no games to sell. Advertising their game on mobile phones can be an advertising strategy, if Nintendo can draw the line between mobile gaming and 3DS.

Re: Video: Check Out Kirby's Adventure Wii on the Wii U eShop

@1upsuper Feel free to ignore my comment if you are better in censuring than reading. My comment on the game is solely on its difficulty. My disinterest in easy games has nothing to do with its quality on young gamers. Some people like easy games and this explains the reason Nintendo keeps maintaining the difficulty of Kirby games. Because my brain is normal, I do not even understand your comment 'disregard of the games based ENTIRELY on accessibility.' Did I even say something like 'Kirby games are bad ENTIRELY due to its low difficulty level'?

Re: Video: Check Out Kirby's Adventure Wii on the Wii U eShop

@1upsuper Please do not continue to impose your "Hail, My Supreme Leader Kim Nin-tendo attitude" to everyone. I am responding to your Procrustean attitude that everyone should praise Kirby games, disregarding that your subjective opinions may not be shared with anyone else. I can imagine that those high on autism spectrum would impose their own subjective opinion to everyone else, without acknowledging the diversity in people's opinions. If you have read my comment carefully it was not even talking about the quality of the game - I was commenting on the difficulty level of the game.

@1upsuper A typical Nintendo fan defending Nintendo's game! I did not say anything about level design - I just stated the fact that Kirby's difficulty geared towards young gamers and there is nothing wrong about it. Nevertheless, I received so many feedback from Nintendo fans arguing that the level design is great, the graphics is beautiful, et ceteria. I have played video games since NES era and this game is easy compared to other games. You are really doing well in defending your Supreme Leader - Kim Nin-tendo, when there is no need to.
