Re: Negative Reception For Devil's Third Is Due To Poor Player Skill, Claims Tomonobu Itagaki

GreatPlayer

@BLPs @ThomasBW84 I agree with you that Sonic Lost World is not a difficult game, but see what Nintendo Life has said in their review:

"this is a demanding, difficult game to play... The 3D environments are most troubling, as Sonic moves relatively quickly — even when not dashing — and lacks the precision and balance of a certain chubby moustachioed rival. Lining up a dash for a wall climb, making precision jumps and any moves that require accurately hitting a specific spot are fiddly to execute."

So skills are busted by reviewers nowadays. Sonic games always require some skills to control Sonic's speed. However, Nintendo Life's standard is that a game should be easy to pick up on control. A game requiring skilful control, on the part of the players, are no longer favoured well.

It seems that reviewers nowaday are just good at writing but not at games. I bet the same thing happens to Devil's Third.

Re: Talking Point: Raw Power Isn't Vital to Nintendo's NX, But It Does Matter

GreatPlayer

My guess is that Wii U right now is ABLE to run high graphics games like Batman Arkhan Knight or Witcher 3, but third parties will need to make a lot of work. Therefore, unless Wii U is at least as powerful as PS4 or Xbox One, the system will alleviate a lot of work of those third parties, which are likely to port games to the other two systems mentioned.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo NX Could Use Google's Android Operating System

GreatPlayer

That will be such a smart idea: put android based os on Nintendo console can be a brilliant way to solve the lack of third party problem. Lots of people develop games on abdroid. I am sure that the prospective system will be much more powerful than Oyra. However, please scrab the idea of the gamepad. I have not seen many games that really use it.

Re: Exclusive: Slightly Mad Studio Head Ian Bell Sets The Record Straight On Project CARS Wii U

GreatPlayer

@Grimlock_King To N's credit, I don't think Nintendo released the console because they wanted to save money. But they spent too much money on the heavy gamepad that it did not work. They could have scrabed the gamepad to make a more powerful system, but they wanted to release an innovative piece of hardware and made more innovative games, jUST like what they did on Wii.

They also wanted backward compatibility. Therefore, they relied on a PowerPC CPU that was largely incompatible with Intel CPU. But that means, it will be difficult for PC programmers to port their games from PC to Wii U. Probably Nintendo did not forsee this issue at the beginning.

Re: Project CARS Studio Boss Admits to Problems With Wii U Version, Hoping For Nintendo Hardware Announcement at E3

@ikki5 Finally there is somone having the brain to say something that makes sense. If most third parties flop, Nintendo cannot be free from the blame. Either it is a hardware issue, programming issue, or Nintendo's issue. Nintendo had promised a better third party support on Wii U. So far what are the results? Why use PowerPC based CPU in the first place. Everyone knows that it is going to cause hiccups when importing a game from an Intel based PC to Wii U.

Re: Video: Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric Blame Could Largely be With SEGA, Not Big Red Button

GreatPlayer

@Larrykoopa18 I agree with you. What I do not understand is why the CryEngine runs well in every single current console except Wii U. Is it something so special about Wii U that it could not handle CryEngine?

In addition, BigRedButton has probably more than one year (probably two years or more) to fix the game on Wii U. The three-game deal was signed well before the release of Sonic Lost World. In addition, before switching the game to Wii U, BRB said they finished a major part of the game. Therefore, more than one year is not enough for them to optimize the game's performance on Wii U?

Re: Video: Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric Blame Could Largely be With SEGA, Not Big Red Button

GreatPlayer

@Grumblevolcano Your comment is right. As an example, when Wii U gamers see a game with the rating of 7 from Sega they say it sucks. When from Nintendo they say they still buy it no matter what.

Also, Nintendo Life keep trash talking Sonic Lost World in many article's. In one of their articles they even thought giving Sonic Lost World a rating of 7 initially a decision that was too generous. As a result of these kind of attitudes among Nintendo's and websites alike, third parties really do not have a chance to thrive on Wii U.

Not to forget that Sega also made Alien Isolation which sells over 3 millions since launch. Should it be released on Wii U it would only sells 3000.

Re: Great News, Just Dance Fans, Ubisoft Has Confirmed Its E3 Conference Time

GreatPlayer

To be honest, Just Dance series is better than Wii Fit U in exergames. Wii Fit U games can feel dull after playing them for a while every day, while dancing game is just fun and a good way to learn some dance moves to show off at Friday nights. There are always more advanced songs and moves to master even though you finish songs with the easiest moves.

Nevertheless, Dance Central Spotlight is just a far more superior product.

Re: The Prices of the Remaining Physical Goods on Club Nintendo in North America Have Been Reduced

GreatPlayer

@Funbunz Exactly! By now you should know their habit: stating that price will not go down, as in the case of Wii U console, and then cut the price and package a better game one month later. Never buy their console until one or one and a half year later. Loyal Nintendo fans never pay: you suffer from severe game drought anyway and they will never compensate due to your loyalty to them.

Re: SEGA Records Financial Losses and Aims to Stick With "Mainstay IP" Game Releases

GreatPlayer

@liljmoore That is simple. As far as the install base is enough, then the quality of games matter. However, when wii u gamers only buy Nintendo games, together with a small install base, third-party titles will suffer.

Therefore, the necessary condition for a good game to sell is the install base and the characteristics of the gamers. Have you learnt the difference between a necessary condition and a sufficient condition?

Re: The Prices of the Remaining Physical Goods on Club Nintendo in North America Have Been Reduced

GreatPlayer

Nintendo is not the first time doing things like this. Back to the earlier days on Wii u they keep saying that the price of the console will not drop, and then drop it one year after it launches, and then do not even compensate for early adoptors. Early adoptors have paid a higher price with severe game drought.

Bottom line: Never buy a Nintendo console early. The price will definitely drop even it says it won't.

Re: SEGA Records Financial Losses and Aims to Stick With "Mainstay IP" Game Releases

GreatPlayer

@Linkstrikesback @liljmoore Sonic sold best on Wii just because of the large install base on Wii. No third party really earn much money on Wii u anyway - UniSoft and Sega are the biggest supporters and both flop. It is evident that Nintendo fans will buy only Nintendo games no wonder what the game quality is, e.g. wario, Kirby...

It is funny that people who has not played alien isolation criticized the game - typical response from fans and it should be no surprise.
