I hope in Europe there will also be some sales!
shame this isn't in Europe as I wouldn't mind picking up Triple Deluxe for cheap.
Nothing too amazing for 3ds ...
Was hoping for Shante discount. Nothing that interests me tho, pokemon rumble is highly addicting and has pulled me away from even starting Xenoblade!
Anybody play 2 player World of Keflings? Thinking about getting it for my kids.
Castlestorm needs a bundle, there are 2 DLC packs $2.99 each. May pick them all up anyway, but a 1 stop shop bundle would be easier.
Might be time to pickup Chariot for the kids as well. Guess the Easter bunny shouldn't have forgotten those eShop cards on his last trip to Target.
kudos to Nintedo for the Easter sale, even if it is a week late, better than not at all. And they even have some 1st party games on sale, that makes this a super-duper special sale! Now I just need Lego City Undercover to go on sale.
NA always complains that EU gets all the good stuff, well they can't really complain when they get stuff like this and EU doesn't. They just like to complain whenever they get a chance... yap yap yap
@Bushido_Fai The whole continent complains eh?
Still nothing really special for us Wii U only owers to pick up and really is that the best that nintendo can do is only 30%, no wonder I rather pickup digital games from sony with there 75% off's and flash sales under $1.00.
Not to bad of a sale im definitely picking up World of Keflings and maybe Siesta Fiesta
Been waiting for a Chariot sale...
Even on sale it costs more than it should now. No wonder that parents prefer to buy their kids a PS4...
If it hits europe I'm buying toad on a sale
Pikmin 3 looks good but I really want the physical copy (I can't believe I'm saying that)
Meh, nothing of interest and nothing in the impulse-buy zone.
@OneBagTravel It is a good game, I got my copy for free with the Mario Kart 8 promotion.
May get Golden Sun or Kerploosh, both CN rewards.
The two Wii U retail games are as good as they are overlooked. But of course I have them already.
@rjejr
I played Chariot with my bro, very funny co op game. We got around 20h out of it, but we never finished it. I also hope they keep the sales up.
@andreoni79 Yeah, nintendo prices are crazy, like right now they still want $60 for New Super Mario Bros U on the Wii U eshop.
The sale is excellent. Unfortunately I own most of the games on sale that I'm interested in. The only titles I'm interested in would be a second copy of Kart to play multiplayer (instead of download-play) and maybe Kirby....but I've never been the biggest fan of Kirby games.
@ Price whiners
This is a good sale on good games.
I wouldn't expect much better in the near future from Nintendo.
When you see rock-bottom sales on games it is because they have failed to have longevity or failed to ever get attention (or possibly they are just eeking out some extra cash when a sequel is released). Just because, over time, they go out of the spotlight doesn't mean they have somehow diminished. The game is the same. If you are only buying games at rock-bottom I'd suggest you are part of the problem with the game industry, but I know some people just can't afford it, so not much can be done.
But acting like everyone should just drop prices on games is exactly what happened in the mobile game market and is happening in the PC Steam market. There is a race to the bottom and as a critical mass of customers catch on and expect it, they just wait for sales. Over time this makes it harder and harder to make returns, so companies resort to all the stuff that gets complained about: various nickel-and-diming DLC schemes, F2P, egregious micro transactions, timers, etc.
I do think the loyalty programs have some merit, like with Playstation.
@sinalefa
Agree with you on Pikmin and Toad. At those prices no one should really complain. I was wondering about Chariot. Affordable Space Adventures is next on the co-op docket, though. Got it last night and can't wait to play.
@aaronsullivan This^
@rjejr Easter bunny got Mario Party for kids and some Amiibo. Caused a bit of angry crying the first night from my 5-year-old that doesn't like to lose, but they are warming up to it. That is such an odd series. You really have to bring a group of people that are up for it in order to get real fun out of it. It also works as sort of a very casual lazy afternoon time waster, but Mario Party has only really worked well in my life once or twice when I was a teen. I think the biggest problem is that my kids aren't accustomed to playing board games based on such dumb luck and lack of meaningful decisions. We avoid those for games like Dominion, Forbidden Island, and both the kids and real version of Carcassonne. The closest we get to dumb luck games is Catan Junior but thankfully it's a shorter more colorful game than the "proper" one which can be awful.
@aaronsullivan Do you really think that New Super Mario Bros U should still be priced at $60 it was just a clone of the Wii version and was a launch title for the Wii U?
If you don't have Pikmin 3, get it now!
@Desy64
And I have succumbed to those sales on Steam sometimes myself and I buy games I never play. Not actually a good thing for the industry or me as the consumer. This is a challenging time for the game industry as customer perceptions are warped around new pay models and companies rush to take advantage of customers when they can, just like always.
It's just like when I try to appeal to people's better self on the issue of piracy of digital anything. Support what you want more of. Customers ripping off the people that make the stuff they love just seems self-defeating.
"Kirby: Triple Deluxe ($24.49, normally $34.99)"
Try $9.99, Nintendo.
@mowerdude
Not a big fan of that game. They sort of ditched the practicality of multiplayer in the level design. It was solid enough overall despite lots of retreading of concepts and people seem to love those games.
It was in Wii U bundles for a long time, right?
How about 99 cents?
Captain Toad is a good price. That's a very good game that just oozes charm.
@aaronsullivan Not everyone got that bundle, also 99 cents would be fine with me but you know that nintendo would never have any good sales on there games, but you know that it should already be half price by now. If I could get it for say $30 I would pick it up right now, as for dropping $60 I would rather pickup a newer game for that much.
@mowerdude well if you want digital, yea $60 seems kinda of steep. Just go physical for it instead. Nintendo's NA storefront have refurb copies for $33 and it includes the Luigi add on. That makes it over half off and a fantastic deal. So you can't say Nintendo isn't doing anything at all
Me? I just wait for Best buy to have those eShop cards for sale and load up a bunch of them.
Everything that's on sale that I like, I already own. But hey, this means I can make recommendations. Like Golden Sun. Buy it, buy it NOW.
@aaronsullivan
I recall some interview stating that the sales actually HELP overall. Word of mouth advertising supposedly leads to more people buying at full price after hearing about a game from friends.
No idea how much research has been done into that theory, but it seems plausible.
Granted, I do feel like a robber after a good Steam sale... but if you don't have as much money, there isn't really much choice. I do suffer from "backlogitis", although that extends beyond PC gaming for me, for other reasons.
@aaronsullivan - We play Sorry, Uno, Uno Attack, rarely Monopoly and a lot of chess. And a game called "Sequence" which is an odd card and chip game played w/ partners. The "board" type videogames never go over well in our house so I don't even try. Now I just fear Lego Dimensions. Looked even better on the big screen last night. Can't imagine we don't get it, my kids have been wanting a Lego Ninjago game like the other Lego games but I think this will do. amiibo may never be big in our house unless they make a Dragonball line.
@Sir_JBizzle I just looked and with shipping + tax it will still be over $40 and I don't really need another copy of Luigi U, where as if it was on the eshop for $30 that's all I would have to pay because I don't have to pay tax on the eshop and here lately I have been purchasing most games digitally since getting a hard drive for the Wii U.
@rjejr I know Sequence. That game is pretty cool. I recommend Dominion since you guys are familiar with card games. Takes a bit to understand at first, but it's a fun one once the kids catch on and there is far less luck involved so it can be very satisfying.
LEGO Dimensions does look promising. I just don't want to entertain the notion. (not listening!)
My kids really like the Amiibo despite their limited functionality. They watched their Mom and Dad play Nintendo games from all eras since they were young so they like many of the characters and are intrigued by the ones they don't know yet. As I've mentioned before, I way over did on Disney Infinity. They like it, but could have done with many fewer figurines.
There's definitely a point now where the whole figurine thing is getting to be clutter. The transition to other formats for Amiibo should happen sooner than later, I think. (Not that I don't love some of the current ones!)
@aaronsullivan I couldn't have said it any better than you did at #20. Of course this is coming from a guy who has a backlog of games that was mostly bought at full price, unless it was on my low priority list and I happen to to catch it on sale.
On the flipside I do see the merit of having a greatest hits line, but I'm also aware, outside of a sale here and there Nintendo likes to keep its profit margins high. Which if they aren't selling hardware at the pace of the others, it makes sense if they can get away with it, why not?). Plus a couple turds aside, I'm still a firm believer that Nintendo games hold their value. At least better than a lot of the stuff out there.
Lots of great games here...but let me just throw my recommendation behind Siesta Fiesta.
It looks like a simple Breakout clone. But it's a lot more than that, and one of my favorite recent eShop titles. It's one that needs and deserves more love.
(Whoa, Dave is a stone cold masterpiece.)
Pikmin 3?
@mowerdude @DarthNocturnal
I'm not trying to make a huge deal about this. I think I have some angst left over from the calls for lower prices on Affordable Space Adventures.
I just like to see people consider what they are paying for and what the value is for them now and later and how they can best support the hobby they love. That's all.
Truth be told, I'm not really against all these alternative revenue experiments. I think finding a place where consumers are happiest to pay while the industry and the quality and richness of the games don't suffer is going to take a lot of work on both sides. Unfortunately, all the changes can add up to one big confusing mess of expectations from both sides.
@DarthNocturnal The effect of sales (and of constant free updates of mobile games) does indeed get more people to buy games at full price (or the regular already lowered price. ) sometimes. The problem is the balance of who takes advantage and who is willing to pay full price. I think Steam sales are hitting that critical mass (or will be soon) where it is just plain damaging to the consumer expectations of pricing. I only peruse the Steam store during sales anymore.
@mowerdude fair enough, I'm a digital guy myself since day one. I suppose I don't take task with the pricing because I rarely pay less than MRSP for any game. (unless I catch a sale on eShop cards) .
@rjejr I honestly didn't see the appeal of Skylanders or Infinity (though I have collected the Marvel characters because comic books ) but Lego Dimensions might have me sold on this whole toys to life concept, it may be the first legit game in this genre that I'll actually invest substantial time in. I exclude amiibo only because they are mostly desk/shelf dressing.
£19 for Captain Toad is a good price, of course if we in the UK get it on sale it will be £25 at least. At that price I may as well pick up a physical copy for £30 from Tesco.
Yikes I've still got mario 64, metroid, gargoyles quest demon darkness AND nintendo remix 2 to finish, but if this hits europe I may be tempted with captain toad!
@gspro15198 Physical copy of Triple Deluxe was and should still be £20 in Argos.
Anyone looking for some couch multiplayer: Chariot (co-op) and Sportsball (competitive) deserve some serious consideration. Nothing else like them on the system.
Meh.
I wouldn't mind paying 21 euros for mario kart 7. Unfortunately 21 dollars is apparently a lot more than 21 euros though according to Nintendo.
Looks like im finally going to buy Golden Sun.
@rjejr I've played 2 player of it on the Xbox 360, it's decent.
I think World of Keflings added split-screen, so it was a good addition that let players split-up. The game lasts a good 8 hours I reckon, you could probably extend that time if you messed around with town designs, but if you basically went forward to the missions, it'd probably take you around 8 hours to do it.
I don't think it's something you'd replay after finishing it, but it should provide decent entertainment for children while it lasts.
I was actually kind of mad with the fact they are giving Mario Kart 7 away as a platinum reward for club Nintendo (which I have redeemed) and now they are selling it for cheap. IF I HAD KNOWN this would be... I would have gotten something else and gladly paid $20 for MK7. Oh well... Luck of the draw.
Hopefully, Nintendo realize it's Spring in Europe too.
A couple decent deals for people who don't own these games.
Not too bad, Captain Toad is a good buy there. I already have it but if other don't, I highly recommend it... it is so.. ADORABLE!!
@Bushido_Fai You do realize that this is something that is quite rare.... very rare in fact. It will take quite a few sales like to this catch up with the amount that the EU has had in the past.
@TerrapinJess
That's why I wait until the final week to redeem my CN rewards. I've been burned in that same way before.
@aaronsullivan I still believe in value.
Just like Pink Floyd and Beatles still sell their albums at full price, I believe in Nintendo's quality
On the other hand I'm happy as a consumer for I plan on buying a ps4 in a couple of years and i'll be playing all those blockbusters for a penny
@Bushido_Fai
Mind pointing out where I can buy a standard NA region New 3DS and get physical club nintendo rewards that aren't crap here? We have every right to "complain" when NoA is frequently giving us the shaft.
Anyways, I can get most of the physical releases for cheaper but I might pick up Woah Dave! and Siesta Fiesta for my 3DS at that price if my SD card has enough space. This sale is only "okay" in my opinion as I'm not too keen on digital only games.
Hopefully we get some kind of sale (and lucadian chronicles ) in the eu soon.
Kirby Triple Deluxe has suddenly become tempting...
I'm finally getting Captain Toad
Seems like I'm noy missing anything in Europe. Those are some lame sales. Like 40 for Pikmin 3, a game that's almost 2 years old already.
downloading captain toad now.
I bought Lost Levels and Siesta Fiesta for 3DS. I love these sales because, although they burn my money, they encourage me to buy the games that were rotting in my Wish List.
Anything for European 3ds and wii u??
Wouldnt mind block boy a little cheaper or have some virual consoles cheaper too.
@Jenraux - Thanks. I was asking about Keflings b/c there are a LOT of problems listed in their forum. Somebody couldnt even figure out how to get multiplayer in the game, and the review on here last year made no mention of it at all. Chariot I trust to work well, it seems like it was made to be 2 player.
Have (real life) friends? Significant other, perhaps?
Chariot. Sportsball. Multiplayer. You want it.
@leo13 I think you'll like it, It's really fun.
@Bushido_Fai We haven't had a good sale in awhile, last time I checked you guys have been complaining just as much as we have. In reality both are services suck compared to Japan...unless we get FE If on one cart then we finally win one round
Going to download Kirby triple deluxe. I wanted to get that for a year now but I can never find it on sale and I didn't want to buy it and then it becomes part of a Club Nintendo promo. It's a game I want to play but not in a hurry for day one full price.
@Sir_JBizzle - The Skylanders games are actually quite fun. Even played Giants w/ my wife all the way thru. Though I imagine single player could be less fun. Disney Infinty lost it's appeal after a few days, just wasn't as good as Skylanders. We have 2 amiibo. I could envision Lego Dimensions becoming an all consuming disease. They might as well just have called it Lego Crack.
The real test is can this tear the kids away from NFC free Minecraft? Minecraft laughs at crack. I think it was created by some H. P. Lovecraft demon. MS should have done a Minecraft NFC toy Xbox One game for the holidays. May be too late now.
@ikki5 @Bagels @64supermario All you Americans keep yapping away and complaining, it is what it is you know? If they bring someone out in EU and not in NA then tough, they've done the opposite in the past where they've brought stuff out in NA and not in EU. Just keep yapping away you little complainers...
@Bushido_Fai Yup not gonna deny that....but you guys do it just as much as we do, from reading your comment you make it sound as if Americans are the ONLY people that do it, and that is simply not the case.
and i just bought Captain Toad a week ago...:/
@Bushido_Fai You'd be doing the same if you lived in NA. Want to know how I know? You do the same thing, just look at the comments here and one other pages... especially the club Nintendo ones... You guys complained SO MUCH about how we got digital downloads... even after countless times when it was explained that you actually do have digital downloads and a better library to select from...Also, your own comments. You're basically complaining that we complain and then finally get something which puts a little sparkle in our eyes? Good job. NA has been getting the shaft since the Wii U... maybe even before then and finally when we get something that is nice for a change, we get comments like yours about how we whine and complain when we get stuff on the rare occasion even though we get to sit and watch the rest of the world (or the more popular world for Nintendo... sorry Brazil and South America) have promotions, sales, and other gadgets. We get these once and you for one make these kinds of statements. Seriously though, cut us some slack, just remember back to when Nintendo forgot about you a lot and didn't do much of anything in Europe. Look how you all acted then. Now we are in your shoes from 5-10 years ago.
@ikki5 We never did get those physical Mario Kart trophies, I would have loved to get my hands on that.
@ikki5 @64supermario It's because it is always you guys. All I ever read on here is moaning from NA. And no I wouldn't moan if I lived in NA because I live with the facts, if it's not released where I am then tough, either move to EU or just learn to stuff it and move on. Not constantly moan like little sissies.
@Bushido_Fai I doubt that since your moaning right now. You really are generalizing a whole lot of people with just your personal experiences and I assume only on this site, but it comes off as extremely ignorant on your part. People complaining is just human nature there is nothing you can do about it no matter where they hail from, I mean like I said earlier your doing it right now you aren't above anyone here in the comment sections regardless of country.
@64supermario I'm moaning about you Americans, not about Nintendo not being unfair.. You're just trying to justify that your own moaning is correct.
My girlfriend has a birthday coming up, so maybe I will get her Tomodachi Life. If we had a Wii U, we'd definitely get Captain Toad. She's been wanting that since she saw the videos for it.
@andreoni79 Pikmin 3 is awesome. It is worth that price.
@Bushido_Fai And guess what, You're doing that right now AND you did it before. You guys STILL do it now even on the rare times when we get something. You're no different. You moan, whine and complain when someone gets something you don't. The first two comments of this article are about people hoping this comes to Europe even though you guys have sales quite regularly. Maybe they are not quite in the complaining manner but the principal is still the same. And now you're here moaning and complaining because we finally got something... after complaining... irony at it's best.
@aaronsullivan - Mr. Sullivan, sorry to trouble you on the weekend but since we were discussing board games thought you might like to see the Amazon Deal of the day specials, a bunch of board games I've never heard of, but am thinking about picking up King of Tokyo as we're a big Godzilla family.
Edit: Try this link instead. -)
http://www.amazon.com/b/ref=lp_11161423011_gbsl_rlm_l-1_8122_48afe0c1?rh=i%3Atoys-and-games%2Cn%3A11161423011&ie=UTF8&node=11161423011
@ikki5 You're not quite correct there. I'm not moaning because you got a discount, I couldn't care less. I'm just commenting that you guys are always "ohh no standard size 3DS... I'm gonna jump off a cliff!!!" - yeah right, who cares? Just get the XL and stop moaning then.
@Philip_J_Reed Wholeheartedly agree with you on Woah, Dave, and because of that, will check out Siesta Fiesta
That, and your love for all things Mega Man.
Speaking of Mega Man, the 8-bit clone Mighty Gunvolt is on sale. If you LOVE the 8-bit Mega Man platforming STYLE, I would recommend that purchase. Beyond that, there' s not much to game design and story. This game feels more like a "retro download" for big fans of IntiCreates's games, Inafune and Mighty No. 9.
I'd only recommend it for those of you immersed in nostalgia and would appreciate a "8-bit Mega Man" fix. I bought it and I'm not disappointed in it. It just could have been more.
@rjejr nice tip. Thanks! I've heard good things about King of Tokyo but never played. I can recommend Forbidden Island as a fun cooperative game that isn't too time consuming. Small World is good, too. There's some quality stuff in that list. I'm going to pick up Kingdom Builder. It's by the creator of that Dominion game I was recommending.
If you are ever wondering about a game, check on boardgamegeek.com or maybe Wil Wheaton's TableTop videos as a way to learn while being entertained (not always appropriate for kids).
Too bad Ninty never goes as far as the Steam sales, and even the recent Flash sales I've seen on the PlayStation Store where games were severely discounted, instead of just 10%-20%, it was like 80%-95% off. I picked up quite a few PSOne games I had been pining after for under $10, and even a couple PS2 games in that same transaction. Now I can finally try Katamari Damacy, and it only cost me about $0.90.
@Bushido_Fai Alright you obviously don't get it no matter how obvious I make it so I'm just going to be blunt. First off no I hate it even more than you, every time I go into "New Games for US this Week" Or "New Games for EU this Week" I get angry because everyone is like "oooh bad week this week" even when there are good things. I'M MAD because you think US does it only and EU doesn't do it at all like you're above the rest of us here even when you moan just as bad. Seriously stop being a close-minded, cocky SOB. Complaining in general from everyone is annoying I agree, but you keep segregating it to the US. And no, we're not worse than you guys, our complaining and your complaining is equally terrible.
Edit: You are still very much complaining, heck the fact that you put this in a video where the US got something good means something.
@64supermario I'm not complaining at all lol. I'm just saying that it's U.S. moaning more, sure, EU complains, but not to the extent of the U.S., your moaning, groaning and complaining is just OTT and you guys need to stop lol. Life isn't fair, same with Nintendo.
@Bushido_Fai You weren't just saying, you were definitely complaining about complaining, don't brush this off like nothing happened. No absolutely not, I see you guys complain all the time, in fact when I was on the IGN forums you would not believe how many EU people complained that we got SSB4 Wii U first...I mean really? We definitely SHOULD of complained about Xenoblades, that's why we got a petition started and got the game on the Wii in the first place. Also you are once again generalizing, I never once complained about the New 3DS because I was going for the Majora's Mask New 3DS XL and got it. You can not tell me if the tables were turned people in EU wouldn't have been complaining, that's just absurd.
@aaronsullivan - Wesley Crusher knows everything worth knowing.
@64supermario @Bushido_Fai @ikki5
Could you guys take it outside please? Complaints are useful. Whining is not. Arguing about who is whining more is... wasteful.
@rjejr Ouch on co-pay. At least HBO has a nice digital option now. Let me know how King of Tokyo goes for you.
goes to check headline Oh, right, the sale story I've got nothing on topic.
HELP Please, i want pikmin and toad, but i am out of the country for a year and have no access to my Wii U. Is there some way i can get it while it is on sale?
@aaronsullivan - Goes to check if those 3 are whining about us not being on topic. No? Well I'll just pay them no mind then.
Was going to buy Forbidden Island but its OOS looks like. Wife said "nah" to King of Toyko. Guess I'll go see what's on HBO then.
@aaronsullivan The whining doesn't bother me, it was more of the fact that it made it sound like people US only complain and complain all the time. I know very well how complaints can be used in negative and positive fashion. I don't bat an eye when people say 'This group is this way', aka I hate generalizations people make and I will call people out on it if they make them.
@64supermario But NA do complain all the time. You guys probably complain more than actually play games. I'm not EU, I'm CND, I don't know why you are insulting EU humans. You're just trying to direct it onto EU to make yourself not look as bad whereas the fact is NA has the most complaints - a years worth of complaints from NA is probably the equivalent to 10 years from EU. Sucks to be you.
@Bushido_Fai Well I never once insulted EU, I thought that it was just a comparison that was easy to make since they are both very apparent on this site. Also I really don't care where you hail from that doesn't give you the right to use generalization about a place just because, "Well I see it this way so it must be so."
I said it once and I'll say it again, I do hate the complaining but I think it can be important to an extent and I don't generalize it to a certain group which is why I said BOTH complain. And the fact is that PEOPLE complain, US, UK or wherever CND is. Unless you mean CDN which is Canada, who I know people who complain about stuff all the time, I call them VGA.
EDIT: Turns out it can be either way, weird.
@GreatPlayer I know that Pikmin 3 is awesome and this is way I bought it as soon as it was released, with all the following dlc. But its still an industrial product. According to your logic, Nintendo should ask € 60 for most of its games, even if 30 years old. Half of my 360 library is made of Goty and Classics edition of great games and if they are sold at € 20/30 its because they can still earn money from them at that price. Nintendo policy about games pricing is just crazy and unrealistic.
@andreoni79 Nintendo is probably avoiding people purchase their games to wait until the price goes down. Like me, I am waiting Bayonetta's price to go down, given that it is a Platinum game and I hope that its price may go down like Wonderful 101.
