Re: Review: Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice (3DS)

Jared Petty is a very experienced game reviewer in IGN and he gives the game a rating of 7.5. What he said is very trustworthy:

The only major thing he does not like is how generic the graphic looks. Well, no one would expect it to look as good as Mario 3D Land because of the hardware limitation of handheld 3DS in handling fast graphics (just look at how Sonic Transformed chocked in its graphics).

IGN gave the game much better review. In addition, metacritic gave the game close to 7:

'While Fire and Ice’s art direction and music are woefully generic, the well-constructed level layouts create a solid arcade-style experience that accomplishes a sense of extraordinary speed while accommodating a reasonable degree of control.'

Re: Nvidia Formally Ditches SHIELD Tablet Successor, Reinforcing NX Reports

Wii U is one of the worst Nintendo consoles... I don't want to bash Nintendo but Nintendo has almost given up Wii U. I did not have a Wii and so I probably have more fun than most gamers as I could played some Wii games. However, I am actually bored by it now. I played more games on my PC than on my Wii U.

Wii U has been on life support by indie games and virtual console. I hope that NX does fare better, but I do feel that Nintendo has been unfair to early adoptors of Wii U - they have paid a lot but get relatively little for their money.

@Yosher I hear what you say, but Nintendo is not giving development kit to the indie developers. Honestly, without indie games on Wii U, the console is pretty much dead. I am very surprised by the quality of indie games on Wii U. Hopefully, Nintendo can providing enough support to NX before indie games come in. Else, NX will get drought such as Wii U does.

Re: Talking Point: SEGA Has the Right Idea With Its Upcoming Sonic Projects

Sonic Lost World is one of the most divisive games in sonic history, just like the new Star Fox. Famitsu loves the game, and so does some regions in IGN (e.g., Italy). In contrast, others do not like it (e.g., Nintendolife). It is mainly due to its deep learning curve and difficulty. Gamers who like it loves it and others hate it.

I actually think that the game is much better than Sonic Adventure, because the former has much tighter control of sonic. In fact, I agree that the control violates common sense a bit (after running fast, the momentum suddenly losts while jumping). But, I don't think that Sega can make the next sonic game using the template of Sonic Lost World, although it may borrow some elements from it.

Re: Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Delays Partly Due To Developers "Breaking" The Game, Says Eiji Aonuma

GreatPlayer

The only real reason of delaying the game, I believe, was to accommodate Nintendo NX. He can say a lot of reasons to explain why the game was delayed for Wii U gamers. But commercially, delaying the game until the inception of a new console cycle for Nintendo is a profitable strategic move.

On the other hand, stop talking about the game but actually delivering it. The new Zelda has been talked for years but no one has ever seen the actual delivery of the product. I hate it when Nintendo does this. It is almost as if they are deciding to abandon Wii U - just look at the games in 3DS vis-a-vis Wii U.

Re: Video: Learn The Full Story Of The Famicom Disk System With The Gaming Historian

GreatPlayer

My first ever video console system was actually Famicom with Disk System. I remembered that it suffered from no good games. Contra and Dragon Ball Z, for example, was never in disk form. Nintendo cartridge, imported from Japan, cost like 50 to 80 US at that time. Shortly afterwards, I purchased a system with cheaper cartridge, Mega Drive. Each game cost like 30 to 40. I remembered getting phantasm star 4 for 30 bucks.

Re: Two More Discounts Arrive on My Nintendo in Europe

@Krisi Since you like Earthbound series very much, have you tried Undertale? It was a RPG that based heavily on Earthbound, but also add in an element of acting on an enemies during battles. You can talk, carass, imitate or act in a variety of ways to an enemy, in addition to fighting it. Some gamers like to fight an enemy, while others may prefer end a battle peacefully using those non-violent actions. Different enemies require different actions. Depending on your decision on how to deal with battles, the story will be different. The game plays very much like Earthbound with quirky dialog, but it also has those twists in the story. The music is excellent also.

Re: Two More Discounts Arrive on My Nintendo in Europe

GreatPlayer

@Krisi The problem with Earthbound Beginning was that in an interview, Nintendo admitted that they rushed the game and so they did not even have the time to check the balance at the end of the game. To this end the game was actually not fully finished. There are a LOT of one-hit death at the end of the game, and this has nothing to do with being a game in 80s.

Re: Two More Discounts Arrive on My Nintendo in Europe

GreatPlayer

I just purchased earthbound beginning, without discount.

I finished it, and found the game very repetitive that requires exorbitant amount of grinding. Dialog in the english version is not very funny either. It does, however, has some quirkiness, but not as good as Earthbound. Not recommended.
