Played this on Steam. Quite liked it but most people, including myself, already got Odyssey to scratch the 3D platformer itch. Plus, I‘d rather give Yooka-Laylee a second chance than double-dipping on Poi.
Um ... they do realize a large number of the Switch‘s player base will play Odyssey this weekend, right? Certainly not all but still a large majority. Other than that, I will certainly check it out. Never‘ve been one of my faves but I have fond memories of this map.
When I woke up today, I knew I‘d get to play Odyssey today and would sooner or later see Mario‘s nips. Sure didn‘t expect to see his genitals, though, lol.
No matter the art style, I wanna have a 2D Mario that is REALLY different from anything done before it, something that is more than just adding a new item or two and making new levels that may or may not have been from this or any other 2D Mario game. A few years ago, I would‘ve suggested going for anti-gravity but I feel like this has been explored enough in the Galaxy games.
How about making Bowser a playable character and have Wart return as the villain this go-around? Mario, Luigi, Peach and Bowser, each with their own abilities, consumable items and so on. Or why not a third Mario Land with Mario teaming up with Wario? I don‘t know, my head‘s too full of Odyssey to think straight atm.
Already downloaded, took 50 minutes for some reason. Any other device would‘ve downloaded 5 GB in at least half of that. No idea why but my router having issues with my Switch is nothing new.
@Krull I do get it physically, too, because not having it physically would be a sore sight to me. Though I already know the lyrics by heart, listened to that song so often. It‘s also my ring tone!
I‘ll check it out but I doubt I‘ll get as much playtime out of it as with console releases. Also note that I said the same thing for FE Heroes and Mario Run, both of which I have installed on my phone but have yet to play them. So there‘s that.
@PorllM Oh I must say I‘m honored to receive such a grandious prize. I may have no idea how I managed to even be nominated in this category when all I was doing is voice my disinterest in this game considering I have yet to watch the anime but my thanks go to all the people who consider opinions contrary to their own worthless. Couldn’t have done it without you.
Looking forward to loudly cursing and raging at a videogame in public again. Again as in after having already done so a buncha times with the 3DS version.
And another one bites the dust. It's always sad to see things one has spent so much money in discontinued but it's the classic Guitar Hero burnout. I just hope we'll get a proper Pokemon line as well as Bowser jr. and Toadette amiibos before those die out. I refuse to believe they've made amiibos of two minions but none for the Prince of Koopas.
@KTT I just found it annoying going through several menus just trade or battle. PSS in XY was so much better in that you could actually play the game while waiting for peeps to battle or trade with.
@justin233 Exactly! Just imagine an open world Pokemon game where Pokemon run around freely in the overworld, rival trainers have their own daily routines with some giving more involved sidequests, the possibility of tackling badges in any given order and scaling levels according to the amount of earned badges. And the cherry on top, option to tackle the game with your friends.
@Hughesy Never claimed different would equal better. I simply feel that the franchise, as it is now, is becoming rather stale with its almost yearly releases. If I was given the choice, I‘d, too, go for the badge system. Albeit in a more open fashion, by which I mean the option to tackle badges in any way you want with the levels of trainers and wild Pokemon increasing with every badge. Or the option to join up with friends online and play through the game together.
@KTT Couldn‘t agree more. The second-to-worst aspectof the games, next to Festival Plaza obviously.
Why not give the younger folks a chance at breathing fresh air into this stale franchise, Game Freak? Yes, the badge and gym system may have been replaced in SM by the Island Challenge but that‘s surely only the first step at revitalizing this franchise.
I‘m annoyed at the fact this color is indeed exclusive to the bundle here in Europe. Not gonna import them from Japan either. Just gimme those Joy Cons, Nintendo! You can even keep Odyssey! ... For now.
I don‘t see a preorder/predownload option for neither FE Warriors nor Odyssey. Come on, Nintendo, lemme preorder Odyssey the one time I download a big game like that from the eShop!
Hope Pokken gets added to the video capture option soon but Splatoon 2 will do for now.
Really looking forward to this one. But I'm definitely more hyped for Odyssey next week (how long have I waited to say those two words in one sentence!)
I‘m not a fan of cats mostly for their bird-hunting ways (and also allergies) but this looks catptivating enough for me to consider a buy if the reviews are pawesome. Also cat puns galore!
Buying it digital right at mignight, or whenever it releases in the CEST timezone, and physically because never owning a physical copy of the OG Mario Kart 8 has always been a thorn in my eye.
@IceClimbers Pre-downloading new releases would certainly be a welcome addition. I mean, just imagine pre-downloading Odyssey and once the time hits midnight, boom, let's a-go!
So a big fat Baller nerf patch. I mostly use it as a means of escape when cornered but Splashdown will do nicely for that as well. The Aerospray + Sprinkler + Baller combo is still too good for my playstyle to not use it.
Looking forward to it (for the six days before Odyssey releases, anyway). The only negative point for me is the restriction of the roster to mostly Fates and Awakening.
Didn‘t that release on PS4 a few years back? Only know of it from the time Caddicarus reviewed that version and was ... less than enthusiastic about it.
As a big Layton fan, I'm really looking forward to picking this up tomorrow. Weekend's not long enough to play all those new games AND participate in the Splatfest.
This and Partners in Time are the only good ones imho. Looking forward to picking this up Friday after university, which will be like 30 minutes before the shop closes.

Re: Nintendo Switch OS Version 4.0.1 Is Now Available
Only the best stability for my Odyssey!
Re: Miyamoto on Bringing Back the “Old” Style of Mario, Exploring New Art Styles
@Meaty-cheeky Definitely, anything but the classic SMB gameplay would be welcome in my book.

Re: You Can Now Pre-Load Super Mario Odyssey From The Switch eShop
@hiptanaka It should be right there on Odyssey‘s eShop page. Have you closed and re-opened the eShop already?
Re: You Can Play Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Right Now, But There's A Catch
No thanks, I‘m not that desperate. Especially two days before Odyssey.
Re: Action-RPG Blossom Tales Is Set to Bloom on Switch eShop This Winter
Well, if this doesn‘t scream 'ZELDA!', I don‘t know what does. I for one scream 'DAY ONE!'.

Re: Mutant Mudds Collection Will Support Video Capture
Have yet to play any of those games. I do have heard good things about them, might check‘em out if the price is right.

I‘ll check it out but I doubt I‘ll get as much playtime out of it as with console releases. Also note that I said the same thing for FE Heroes and Mario Run, both of which I have installed on my phone but have yet to play them. So there‘s that.

Never‘ve watched the anime, not interested in this either.

Re: Warner Bros. Confirms That LEGO Dimensions Is No More
@BezBot Yeah, I know, I mean a proper one inside the Super Mario line, preferrably outside his Koopa Clown Car.

@Pod I‘d take that, too. Platinum‘s my favorite mainline title anyway.

Re: Review: Fire Emblem Warriors (New 3DS)
My Switch version should be here soon. Any second now. Any second now ...
Re: Fire Emblem Warriors Season Pass DLC Will Include Plenty of Familiar Faces
No issues here. Still hoping other games get some well-deserved representation through DLC or a sequel, though!
Re: Super Meat Boy Releases on Switch This Year
I'm torn between getting physical or digital. Hate the long wait and many delays of physical indie titles, i.e. Binding of Isaac, Axiom Verge.
Re: Don't Worry, You'll Be Able To Capture Video In Super Mario Odyssey
But will I be able to pre-download it is the better question.

Re: Batman - The Telltale Series Finally Gets Release Date Confirmation for Switch
A huge Batman fan yet never played this game. Definitely will be picking this up if reviews are good.
Re: Video: The Fire Emblem Warriors Launch Trailer Sets the Scene for Dramatic Battles
Really looking forward to this one. But I'm definitely more hyped for Odyssey next week (how long have I waited to say those two words in one sentence!)
Re: Rumour: Keymailer Lists Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy for the Switch
I‘d double dip this the second it releases. Always been more of a Spyro fan, though.

Awesome, now bring over Dragon Ball Fighter Z and I‘m a more than happy camper.

Re: Talking Point: What Games Are You Playing This Weekend? - The Triumphant(?) Return
Splatoon 2 (and hopefully A Hat in Time if my Steam issues get fixed)
Re: Official Nintendo UK Store Opens Pre-Orders on Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Collectors Edition
Already canceled my preorder for the standard version for this. All I still need to get is the Xenoblade Pro Controller.
Re: Check Out This Wonderful Super Mario Odyssey 3DS Theme
No, my heart can't take all the hype. In 14 days, we'll finally be playing another true 3D Mario!
Re: RiME Will Use HD Rumble And Touchscreen Controls On Switch
I try to be done with Odyssey by the time this launches. It's really not much on my radar anymore, though I've preordered it a looooooong time ago.
Re: Niantic CEO on the Near Future of Pokémon GO
I wonder how many people still go around and play GO. Are there only numbers on, e.g. monthly active users and such?
I've stopped playing close to its original launch. It just felt really shallow and all you could do was look at your Pokemon.
Re: Review: Touhou Kobuto V: Burst Battle (Switch)
No thanks, I still gotta invest more time into Pokken if I feel like playing a fighting game.
Re: Splatoon Version 1.4.0 Is Now Live
@Nerdling From what I can tell, it‘s rather strong in Ranked Modes, especially Tower Control. Well, at least I like(d) to use it in that mode.
Re: Splatoon Version 1.4.0 Is Now Live

Re: Nintendo Download: 5th October (Europe)
For one, Stardew Valley. Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. It‘s finally done downloading. ~immediately drops everything~
Also Superstar Saga and Lady Layton physically.
And finally A Hat in Time on PS4.
