Attack on Titan 2 should be an interesting release next year on Switch, PS4, Xbox One and PC, as the follow-up to the 'main' predecessor developed by Koei Tecmo and the Omega Force team. A live stream (in Japanese) revealed more on the title today, including the release window - it's due to arrive in March 2018.
If you want to know more including the playable cast and some new gameplay features, check out the video and PR blurb below.
Delving deeper into the series’ fascinating narrative, the game will have fans experiencing the gripping events of the anime’s second season along with versatile action gameplay, all new challenges, and a wide selection of playable characters from Attack on Titan, including some new faces from the second season!
During the broadcast, KOEI TECMO introduced a selection of playable characters in ATTACK ON TITAN 2, while simultaneously unveiling the ability for players to create their own Custom Scout. They also confirmed that players will be able to play as; Eren Jaeger, Mikasa Ackerman, Armin Arlert, Levi, Miche Zacharias, Nanaba, Gelgar, Ymir and Christa Lenz.
ATTACK ON TITAN 2 will feature enhanced Titan movements and attacks, requiring more precise maneuvers from players. Additionally, it introduces the Monocular; allowing scouts better analyzation based on pinpointing Titan positions from afar and attack strategy utilizing their Omni-Directional Mobility Gear.
Outside of their excursions, Scouts can also deepen their relationships with fellow comrades by training and preparing for battle with the new and improved Town Life gameplay. Strengthening relationships is an important element of ATTACK ON TITAN 2, providing a greater insight into the series’ cast in a way that has yet to be experienced.
Are you excited that this one is making its way to the Switch?

I'm looking forward to this game.
Man, Tecmo Koei is going all-in on the Switch, huh? Fire Emblem Warriors is one of their best musou games yet, in my opinion.
Whenever I see a story about this game I think of Revenge of the Titans. I'd much rather have a sequel to that on my Switch, given the choice.
I'm excited! Attack on Titan on PS4 was great!
Never‘ve watched the anime, not interested in this either.
At least one gaming news site mixed up this game with the one for 3DS.
Although I thought the PS4 game was fun, this kind of looks like more of the same.
hmm, well last game I have on my list is Secret of Mana in Feb 2018. So could be a "maybe" if nothing better pops up March/April.
@GoldenGamer88 and the award for the most worthless comment of all time goes to
Nice! I loved the first one on Vita
@PorllM Oh I must say I‘m honored to receive such a grandious prize. I may have no idea how I managed to even be nominated in this category when all I was doing is voice my disinterest in this game considering I have yet to watch the anime but my thanks go to all the people who consider opinions contrary to their own worthless. Couldn’t have done it without you.
@crackafreeze where you watch the series? I watch season 1 on Netflix.
I want to play as Erwin! He's my favorite character from the show.
Season 1 was really enjoyable. Nothing great but enjoyable. Season two was just really weak. Not hyped for this. Even so gameplay looks interesting. Cant tell if its good or not so ill have to try.
@dystome I Remember those Titans! 😄
@crackafreeze what's the point of a One Punch Man game? You win each match just by pressing the light punch button. XD
Pirate Warriors 3 Deluxe has also been confirmed for Switch, in case you folks at NL want to cover that. I'm pretty excited for both games.
Attack on Titan is a pretty good show. I love everything about it except for one thing... Eren. I can't wait to sour my relationship with that little edgelord as much as possible in this game
I must confess I know next to nothing about this series. Am I the only one that finds it a bit...um...weird? What on earth is going on???
What the hell is a Gelgar?
In all seriousness, this is a game I'm considering playing on Switch that I would not on PS4. I hope all of the season 1 content is there, as I feel like AoT is another anime that feels somewhat diminished after its stellar lead. The forest battle was the most intense in the series.
@GrailUK
I thought it was weird too but then I watched the first season of the anime and got addicted! From there I went to the original source material, the manga, because I couldn't wait to see what was going on and I don't regret it.
The story is really cool and if you can, give it a go, you might like it.
@SomeWriter13
Not if your playing as Mumen rider.
JUSTICE CRASH!
AoT for me went from "must watch" to "I'll get around to it" to "I don't care just stop talking and kill something!"
The second season totally lost me. So the game doesn't interest me. But I am sure fans of the series will love it.
@crackafreeze If you look on YouTube, we're already almost there. Someone has modified BotW and replaced Link with Saitama lol
If I can play as a Titan and eat villagers I'm in.
@GrailUK Giant humanoid animal things called "Titans" suddenly appear and start snacking on people. People don't like this so they build walls around their towns and a military to fight 'em off. Throughout the series there's a big mystery behind the titans that unravels amidst all the action. This game is based off of the anime's second season.
@crackafreeze There's another one that may be by the same guy that has Link replaced with Goku riding Nimbus.
@Mando44646 i am again thinking about grabbing the Vita version. The massive price point on the PS store always put me off before though.
@3dsgeek333 @tourjeff I'm going to have to give it a go. Those titan things just look a tad macabre but if they don't know what they are then that's quite a good hook.
@GrailUK
Yes, give it a go!
Start with the anime as it replicates the manga frame by frame, then, try to find the manga online as I'm sure you will be curious to know what is going on
The mystery behind the titans apparition is very interesting.
@crackafreeze so pretty much pirate bay?
@OneArmedGiant Haha that's Hard Mode. Your avatar resembles him, too! XD
@crackafreeze alright thanks.
I LOVED the first game. Bought it twice- Xbox One for multiplayer with my brothers and Vita for portable binging. If this is as good I may do the same- the Switch version won't have the sacrifices the Vita version did last time around. Of course I'd probably grab a physical copy on discount for the second purchase. I really loved how you could feel the "licensed musuou" DNA in the game, but it managed to do its own thing and capture the feel of the series. It made me wish they could break the mold if they ever revisit DW Gundam. Use the structure of a large evolving battlefield and multiple hero units, but develop a game that captilizes on the IP instead of re-skinning Dynasty Warriors. That mold worjs great for DQ, Zelda, and FE, but more licenses could use the AoT approach. I'm rambling so I'll end this now lol
screams in joy
