Publisher FDG Entertainment has revealed that Blossom Tales: The Sleeping King, a game previously released on Steam, will be heading to the Nintendo Switch as a console exclusive 'this winter'.
As Lily, Knight of the Rose, you must go on a quest to save the Kingdom of Blossom from eternal darkness, collecting a host of weapons, spells, and more along the way. The game has a very attractive The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past vibe to its appearance and gameplay which you can see for yourself in this trailer below.
Blossom Tales is made up of monster-infested dungeons full of puzzles and bosses to tackle - all of which seem to utilise the clever use of your weapon collection to conquer. The game promises over ten hours of gameplay and could well prove to be an interesting addition to the eShop's ever-growing library.
Does Blossom Tales look like your kind of game? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.

That's a big "YES!" from me.
Well, if this doesn‘t scream 'ZELDA!', I don‘t know what does. I for one scream 'DAY ONE!'.
I was just hit by nostalgia. A link to the past was the first game with which I really fell in love. I NEED IT!!!!
Too many great games...
Day TWO for me (just because, "Day One" is so overused... ).
Wow, you could change a sprite and become pretty confused with another series. Looks interesting and hopefully there's at least twenty hours of play.
looks fun. If the reviews are good I'll add it to my list and hopefully play it one day!
Wow. So many games try and fail, but this game looks pretty incredible.
You have my attention.
Hmm idk, this game looks too much like Link to the Past. Like almost an exact copy...
@amaazin_a I dont see an elf with pink hair.
It's not just Link to the Past, I can see clear inspirations from Minish Cap as well.
From Hardcore Gamer's 4/5 review of the PC version:
"The decision as to whether or not Blossom Tales: The Sleeping King should be checked out boils down to the answer of a single question: does the potential buyer desire a new Zelda of the old school style? If the answer is yes, then this game is a must buy. All of the pieces are present and put together in an entertaining fashion, adhering close to the original design while upping the challenge and adding in more of a quest system. It’s not the most creative experience, but one can’t help but feel that Castle Pixel made precisely the game that they wanted to play. This level of care shows through in the final product, making it a perfect title for anyone who wants to recapture the sense of discovery felt while playing through A Link to the Past for the first time."
Bloody hell, did they half copy Zelda or what! Looks fun, might have to get this one.
That looks brilliant, depends on the price really, that has been a deal breaker for me for a few games lately
Interesting, but I don't think it's worth $15 (that's the steam price, so I'd imagine it'll be that or higher)
loos fun not sure I need anything else right now as stardew valley has taken over my life!
The sheer level of Zelda is arguably excessive, but this looks pretty darn solid. I'll be looking out for it.
Woah! This looks awesome! Link to the Past and Between Worlds now have some company. I want this to be as good as it looks.
Looks solid and it sounds like the execution is solid. However, you honestly have to completely blow me away to convince me to purchase another Zelda clone.
FDG are excellent developers, behind some truly great stuff on mobile. This intrigues me.
Looks pretty cool, definitely will keep it on my radar.
This is almost a straight up copy but I'll probably buy it anyway.
Will check reviews first and then likely add to my wishlist. So many games!
Wouldn't have been interested playing on Steam.
On SWITCH, on the other hand...
The Zelda is strong with this
So I need this.
I'll hold off on this. It doesn't seem to do enough to set itself apart for the LoZ series. I don't want to forget I'm not playing a Zelda game (as bad as that sounds), because I doubt it will feel as good as the old Zelda games. In turn that would make me not like the game very much. Yes, my mind works in odd ways.
Now that's wearing your inspiration on your sleeve. I'll be paying attention to this.
@Ralek85 Man you were so close. The proper mash-up quote would be "The Triforce is strong with this one."
I'm happy for games like this especially when they came out on third party platforms like the PC and PS4, makes you wonder what could have been if it was the real deal like A Link to the Past. I'll definitely check this one out once my Zelda craving from Breath of the Wild starts to wane.
Ooh yeah. Looks like my kinda game.
This looks lovely. Yes, please!
Looks EXACTLY like LttP and Minish Cap. Two of my favourite Zelda's ever!!!
They are thinking right, get this game on the Switch well ahead of whatever the SNES/GBA VC is gonna be next year and get them sales!!!!
I'll pick it up.
Is there something original to this game or is it just the cloniest clone of all clones?
Looks like one of the cloniest clones Still, I guess the devs felt a Zelda itch and since no one else is developing a top down Zelda for Switch that we know of...
Definitely a clone of ALttP, but it looks like a tasteful clone.
Day 1!
The pixel art is unimpressive but the game looks to be decently fun
Wow, screaming REAL HARD of ALttP, even down to a puzzle with switches and a boss fight with a molderm looking enemy lol. FDG... aren't they also behind the Wind Waker inspired Oceanhorn too...?
I dunno.... I just don't see the "Link" to Legend of Zelda games here
@Bakajin haha, yeah I really was Oo Should have put some thought into it, I guess ... Thanks for giving me a hand ^^
It's almost insulting how much this game copies A Link to the Past
Zelda Ep. II: Attack of the Clone
As much as it reminds me of gba era Zelda, it's really all about the gameplay. I, like others, see a lot of minish cap, also the capcom developed oracle games.
I just like seeing all these Indy ports coming to Switch and it's because the Switch/Nvidia architecture is very familiar and easy for x86 devs. Many have said it takes hours to get their unity/u4 game runnning non-optimized. N got it right this time with an easy to develop for platform.
I'd say in before cease and desist - but it's already out on Steam. It is such a direct rip-off of old-school Zelda, but if Nintendo won't do it, someone has to. I'd buy that right away on Day 1.
@lilith I was wondering how the hell they got the rights to use an exact copy of the gameplay from old school Zelda. Then I noticed the game was already out on Steam and coming to the Switch. Did I miss something? How did they get away with this? I mean can we just rip games off but as long as we changes the characters it doesn't matter at all? Apparently so..
Do not like the character model at all, it doesnt look like somehting i'd care about or want to play as, but that aside the game looks amazing, its Zelda essentially.
Yep, looks sweet. Ten hours sounds short, but then LTTP was also pretty short if you don't count that first trip to Turtle Rock (if you, like me, had no guide or common sense lol).
Lol, the Deku tree! To be honest, the artstyle isn't that sweet. Could still be fun though.
Hey people, do you know at what eastern time the eshop games are usually available? I was looking to start this game last night around 12:30 am, but it was not available. I checked again this morning around 7:30 am and still not available for purchase. The release date is today.
