Like a lot of fps's on switch, even the better ports, higher difficulties are not really on the table due to framerate and control limitations (especially concerning joycons in handheld).
Nintendo make the money on the games and the updated Tegra chip is not an expensive part so no compelling reason that it needs to be much more expensive than Switch OG.
But ...... $70 Game Price is INCOMING
@alcabcucu calling out corners cut on a very much low-effort port of an old product (with the 3DS content added) is fair game when it's going on sale at $60. they get the plaudits on the flipside when something excellent like the Metroid Prime release was brought out (at $40 too to boot).
if it's going to be very much along the same lines in terms of design as the OG Switch why all the focus on the console? the biggest difference is going to be the increased graphical and cpu power which is going to show in the games.
controls will be dogs hit just like the first one because the switch doesn't have the technical capability for accurate pointing controls like a light gun or the wiimote and sensor bar can provide.
FFS. Some are so precious as if Nintendo invented practically every game genre and are the only ones allowed to make anything like that from then on. The last Warioland game released was over 15 years ago and it was a gimmicky wiimote shaking game.
@Tom-Massey compared here vs the 360 port on same display and same controller - switch version has more frames of lag than the 360 version https://youtu.be/mPSUM9UTxp8?t=1848 this youtuber is no doubt very much an authority on this subject
The irony when Dragon Quest could easily have sued Nintendo for copyright for the way that Pokemon was shamelessly "inspired" by the DQ monster characters.
Lorelei, Prince of Persia, Balatro. All totally different genres and all great. Gravity Circuit probably the best game that I played all year though even though it's a 2023 game. Iron Meat very good also - best contra game since contra.
never got the Geometry Wars games on the switch which is a shame... there have been a good number of "similar" games but none matched up really. Geometry Wars 3 : Dimensions would have been a great one to get as it's a great game and also includes most of the classic modes from prior games. Debris Infinity is ok but not fit to shine the shoes of Geometry Wars 3.
@obijuankanoobie I never got any Zelda vibes from this game really tbh. it's a puzzle game with gameplay timing elements built in. bad call saying it's Zelda just cos the main character sprite is Zeldaish and puzzles set in a dungegon. for zelda like games not dark lol Oceanhorn. but Death's Door, Crosscode, Eastward are better.
Probably need to free up some cash for that Neom fiasco that was supposed to be a 170 km long and 500m wide city in the desert. (now scaled back to 2km)
@Arawn93 "Pocketpair also reports that Nintendo is seeking an injunction against Palworld, which would halt sales of the game until infringing mechanics are removed. Considering that the patents Nintendo is asserting seem to cover some of Palworld's basic mechanics, removing and replacing them seems like it would take a lot of work." the 66k is a smokescreen.
@HeadPirate Great. The biggest third party success ever on Gamepass "doesn't count" was getting tiring in the extreme. And I'm sure that "Palworld Entertainment" "doesn't count" either for Nintendo's actions. Neither of which are remotely true of course.
@HeadPirate All games have massive drop off rates 10 months after release- that's no mic drop- the average playtime per user is 50 hours - it's not as if the average buyer didn't play the absolute hell out of it lol.
Forget your your obfuscation micro-focus on Gamepass -> 20 million sales on Steam Alone. 20 million is a huge result. Now Sony have joined up with them to create "Palworld Entertainment " to capitalise on the breakout success. Getting Nintendo's panties in a further twist.
@HeadPirate Gamepass is not at no cost. It's $120 a year. Microsoft cuts deals with developers who get hard cash based on the deal. The 10 million Xbox user figure is a combination of Gamepass users and sales and that was back in February so who knows what additional sales have come in since then. Microsoft has said that Palworld is the most successful 3rd party Gamepass game of all time. Plus over 20 million unit sales on Steam also as of 30 Sep 2024 from Video Game Insights with an average playtime of 50 hours on Steam and 94% positive reviews!
