Re: Review: Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance - A Punishing But Pleasurable Vintage Dungeon Crawler

I'd say that's a new game like the Spyro remake or original Mafia remake. When you take an old game and just run it thru an emulator on console, that shouldn't cost $30. Also, apparently the new game sucks so I'm not get that either.

Just as a side note, I have both of the Dark Alliance games on PS2 and they still look great on my Phat BC PS3 over HDMI. So if they put out a bundle at some point on Switch with both games on sale for $20, I'd think about it.

Re: Nintendo Switch OLED Model Vs. Standard Switch / Switch Lite: Full Tech Specs Comparison

GamerDad66

At the end of the trailer, you see they still want to sell the Old Switch, New OLED, and Lite. This is very confusing. The OLED screen should have gone in the Lite, because that screen actually matters. The new 'Pro' model (marketed to older PS and Xbox types) should have had the overclocked Tegra chip and 4K checkerboard upscaling for cleaner docked performance. Nintendo product line is a bit of a mess now and most people are just going to wait for the eventual Switch 2.

Re: Talking Point: Do You Miss Instruction Manuals?

GamerDad66

When I saw that Hades had an art book, I bought it immediately.

Cyberpunk had alot of stuff inside, so I wanted a new complete copy too.

Or even just interior artwork, like 3D All-Stars, is better than nothing.

But most games have nothing, so I'm in no rush to get them...

Re: Rumour: Is Something Going On Between Microsoft And Nintendo?

GamerDad66

MS declared a truce w/ Nintendo when MS had bottomed out. During this time, they released a few good MS games on Switch. Then MS fortunes began to brighten and they cut off this cooperation. Phil Spenser got annoyed because his interviews questions were all about the Switch. I don't see more deals between them now, because neither MS or Nintendo really think they need each other anymore.

Re: Bethesda's Future Games Will Be "Where Game Pass Exists"

GamerDad66

Sony & Nintendo probably compose 70% of the video game market. So Bethesda just eliminated themselves from any kind of leadership position in the industry. Oh, and games that are made from Day One to be given away, usually suck. There's no incentive to create a master work over years and then give it away. Look at the new Halo, it will be crap and everyone will says that's OK because it was free on GamePass.

Re: Hardware Review: The Retro-Bit Prism HD Is Another Great GameCube HDMI Adapter

GamerDad66

Has anyone compared this type of solution to using a Wii?

The Wii can run GC thru component video (R,B,G) at 480p.

That seems like an easier way to do good A/V for GC games at a decent price.

Otherwise, you have to find early GC w/ progressive video port & then HDMI converter.

Wii consoles & component cables should still be pretty cheap (unlike all things GC now).

Re: Reggie Admits Switch Was A "Make Or Break Product" For Nintendo After Poor Performance Of Wii U

GamerDad66

I'm a big fan of the Wii U and I prefer it to the Switch.

But that might be because I don't care about portability.

The Wii U was quirky & had it's own personality with Miis & Miiverse.

Remember how all the Miis would run out to celebrate your birthday?

NintendoLand was the best system pack-in of all time, IMHO.

Mario Party 10 was a blast to play and uses the Gamepad well.

Mario Party Switch is genetic, boring, and safe (like Nintendo now).

Nintendo is successful, but they gave up on what made them unique.

I have some issues with Sony in this department as well...
