Re: There Are Switch Docks, And Then There's This Zelda: Link's Awakening Switch Dock

Folkloner

@MBII That's a pretty lame critical takedown of my reasoning

Everyone on here is basically praising the diorama, and they should, it's a great piece. But the piece as a whole 'includes' the amiibo and the Switch, and there it both follows good design principles 'and' doesn't simultaneously.

When integrating two things, you need to have them compliment one another or blend in.

Look at the Pikachu Eevee Switch for example, it follows the Switch's minimalist design with etched outlines of both Pokemon on the dock, elegantly matched to the colour Joy-Cons on the side.

The diorama has a Link amiibo placed in to an artistic recreation of the environment in which the character adventures in the game. Great.

The Switch is just a black monolith at odds with everything else in the piece.

Re: Aladdin And The Lion King Are Being Remastered For Switch

Gematsu says:

"1993-released Aladdin game and 1994-released The Lion King game, both originally developed by Virgin Interactive for Sega Genesis and SNES (The Lion King-only)

SNES Aladdin was by Capcom so Genesis Aladdin and SNES and Genesis Lion King?

Waiting for the official announcement I guess

Re: Cuphead Is Getting Its Very Own Netflix Show

Netflix Animation, King Features staff plus Dave Wasson (Mickey Mouse Shorts) and Cosmo Segurson (Rocko’s Modern Life) are involved.

Cuphead co-creator Chad Moldenhauer “The current goal is to stay as far away from [computer-assisted] puppeteer animation as possible,” he added. “The idea will still be that every frame is hand-drawn” but probably not on paper. “It’s going to be hand-drawn but digitally. ‘Tradigital’

Why is such info lacking in this article?

Re: Soapbox: The Nintendo World Championships Is Tired, And So Am I

I miss the original NWC revival format of a medley of games, which were unannounced and featured a losers or underground bracket.

I also can't stand the constant high energy nattering and lengthy interludes with the hosts / panelists. It's just so draining and without pause that i find it inauthentic and unpleasant to sit through.

Re: Random: Here's What The Game Boy Might Look Like If It Was Designed Today

From the article...

"Acquired linear pattern texture on the lower half side on the back allows the excitement to play retro games. The feeling of subtle bumps on the texture with the debossed linear texture brings out the analogic memory, translating in attractive visual at the same time."

The first part is just complete waffly nonsense and massive grooves all over the back do not equate to gentle bumps and clashes with the sleek front of the device.

The less said about the button and the directional pad the better. There's no need to radically fix things that aren't broken. The only smart decisions here are to put the speakers near the top and maybe to lock the cartridge in whilst the system is switched on.
