Re: Pokémon Sword And Shield's Latest Limited-Time Distribution Event Gets Online Access

Folkloner

@SwitchForce Ah yes. I'd forgotten about that. Text book artificial scarcity really to capitalise on FOMO. Same goes for the unpopular in-store distribution in the first place. All designed to get you into the store in the hopes you'll buy something, even worse when some stores enforce loyalty card requirements to even obtain a code.

Then they muddy the waters further by allowing distribution of the codes online via email for all of two seconds, and then 'acting' like they've run-out when the distribution runs until 17th November and the codes themselves are still able to be generated at stores.

Re: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Maintenance Is Due Tomorrow, And Fans Are Speculating

Folkloner

The last time Mario Kart 8 Deluxe had scheduled maintenance was 7th June, so we've been through this song and dance before.

The only thing that really gives it weight is that 7-Eleven tip-off. The counterpoint to that however is would Nintendo really release Wave 2 on Xenoblade Chronicles 3 launch day instead of say early August for example, where they have nothing coming out.

Re: Rumour: Insider Says N64 Is Coming To Switch Online, Believes It Will Introduce A "Higher-Priced" Subscription Tier

Folkloner

...and there it is. The goal of all the "insider" grifters.
To be legitimised via articles from big name sites like Nintendo Life, helping them to gain even more undeserved fame and notoriety.

No-one can ever know they're being 'conned' either by these opportunists because they have plausible deniability. They can't name sources, or plans changed internally, or Nintendo are going in a different direction. It's all so convenient.

Take a bow Nate the Fake, lots more 'believers' will be rushing to your speculative podcast shortly thanks to this promotion.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Will Expand Its Switch Online Service With Game Boy And Game Boy Color Titles

Folkloner

@JJtheTexan This. I wish they'd stop fuelling the fame of ""insiders"" who peddle a lot of half truths and false predictions in the hopes you'll become part of their audience, and sites like NLife will boost their profile.

I can't stand seeing people get by off of doing almost no work, and not even being correct about what they say.

Nate was 'talking' about the possibility of GB and GBC on NSO on the recent podcast...so even his speculation gets treated as if it's major news that needs to be reported.

Re: Now, This Is What Next-Gen Pokémon Should Look Like

Folkloner

@Damo Don't see it in the visuals either to be honest. It's not enough to have strangely proportioned kids, with playful animations and some exaggerated weaponry, and then say it 'looks' like Splatoon. It doesn't. It has some faint similarities but but come, NLife are really reaching with the comparison here.

Re: New Pokémon Snap's First Major Update Is Now Live, Here Are The Full Patch Notes

Folkloner

Things added that are inexplicably missing from the official patch, and not included in this article.

▪️ New Customisation Options: Additional research titles, profile icons, photo filters, stickers, and frames have been added.

▪️ Quality of Life Improvements: Enjoy the following changes:

  • If you complete a Lentalk Mission, the photo will be flagged as having met the requirements before you submit it
  • Added option to return directly to camp without having any photos assessed.
  • Research Level option added to retry level menu. This prevents having to exit out in order to select the same stage with a different Research Level
  • Added ability to save images to your Nintendo Switch straight from the photo editing option.

Re: Soapbox: I Miss My Friends, But I Don't Want To Kill Them

Folkloner

@ochiltree It does seem like the article can't make up its mind as to whether it's asking for more online multiplayer games with friends only lobbies, or whether it wants more online multiplayer games where the primary form of interaction isn't one of violence.

If it's the former, then i have to ask, is there really a lack of online multiplayer games with friend lobbies? ... and if it's the latter, then whilst i'm broadly in favour of there being more non-violent online games to play with friends, don't muddy your argument by including Valheim and Among Us as examples.

Re: Soapbox: There Might Be A Bright Side To Mario's March 31st Doomsday, After All

Folkloner

People aren't complaining that it isn't free forever. They're already paying for it via the NSO subscription. Nintendo has given countless interviews where they've spoken about adding value to the service; now they're deliberately removing value from the service because of an arbitrary promotional date.

Online servers may be expensive to run, but they're also returning record profits at the moment, so i hardly see that as a valid point for shutting it down.

If you want to talk cost-benefit, then they should gauge that on how many people are still playing, not on a date. There's also the fact they spent time, money and resources developing Super Mario 35, and putting the 3D Collection together, what sense does it make to cut-off further returns on that work.

They can also leave things on sale, and still celebrate other things. shrugs
