Re: Nintendo Download: 19th November (Europe)

@AlexSora89 I'd imagine so. I suspect they don't come pre-packaged like the download PR's do anymore(?), so someone would have to sit there, engage the filter on the eShop discounts page, and laboriously work through each game page to get the details.

Re: This Powerful Portable Console Has Us Dreaming Of A Nintendo Switch Pro

That hideous early 2000's aesthetic. I'm getting Sony VAIO mini-PC vibes.

The stick and face button placement being almost flush with the edge of the screen and edge of the device isn't good either. You need room on the side for travel and to be able to grip the thing properly.

What's the point of power if it feels difficult to play

Re: Has The Chibi-Robo Studio Skip Pulled The Plug On Development?

Folkloner

@RickD Not sure about profitable, but the first game def. sold over 100,000 copies worldwide, and Park Patrol sold 160,000 copies in Japan alone. Its worldwide take would've been higher had they not completely botched the North American launch by making it a limited-release through Walmart only.

The Japan exclusive game sold 130,000 copies, so across the first 3 games, sales were pretty stable.

It's only after that with the spin-offs that the sales started to tank. Zip Lash only sold 14k at launch in Japan for example.

@ROBLOGNICK As someone who's played the english translation of the Japan exclusive Okaeri! Chibi-Robo! Happy Richie Ōsōji!, i absolutely implore you to hunt it down.

It's a direct follow up to the Gamecube game as it follows the little frog hat girl Jenny who is now all grown up. It's honestly the best game in the series. It takes everything you loved about the Gamecube game and expands on it.

Re: Soapbox: Forget Terraforming And Crafting, 'Island Hopping' Is The Best Thing About Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Folkloner

Nah. The island tours are not that interesting i'm afraid. Esp. when you have all the amiibo cards and play the stalk market a few times. With your villager and money needs sorted, trying to needlessly rare islands for fish just isn't worth the effort when you can just farm fish bait instead. I've got 170,000 Nook Miles with nothing i want to spend them on. Why-oh-why there aren't more Nook Mile catalogue items to buy i don't know. Only the fencing seems to change. Sigh.

New Leaf islands at least had mini-games, and could be visited 'with friends'.

Re: PES On Nintendo Switch Is "Getting Closer", Says Series Brand Manager

Folkloner

@scottishwildcat Bingo. It's always the same song and dance

We are close
People keep telling us they want Switch version
We want it too

Well, get on with it then?

They say the engine issue is no longer such a big problem. Switch is selling enough and they're constantly getting feedback from fans saying they want a Switch version.

What further motivation do they need?

I fully expect demand to go unmet, and money will be left on the table.

Re: People Keep Buying The Wrong Pokémon Sword And Shield DLC

Folkloner

@gcunit Dont be so flippantly disingenuous. No-one needs to pay for 'both' games and both 'DLC packs to "play them all". You can buy one game and trade with others to get the Pokemon from the others, or buy ONE game and ONE dlc pack, and trade for the others.

That's kind of the point. You're supposed to trade to get them all. Where have you been for the past 2 decades plus.

Why would you want to play them all? Are you that in to seeing the text differences where one says "sword" and the other says "shield"?

Re: Review: Animal Crossing: New Horizons - An Accessible And Addictive Masterpiece

Folkloner

I really can't understand why the non-host characters in single Switch co-op can't pick things up. Just have a shared inventory with the leader [host]. It's so simple that it's deeply frustrating they didn't implement it.

If your helpers have no inventory and can't pick anything up, what can they do besides shake trees and run around then?

It's almost functionally pointless as a result.

Re: Guide: Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Everything We Know So Far

Folkloner

@Xaessya Glad to see someone else concerned about this because they made absolutely no mention of it in the Direct. I love that ACNH features greater freedom and deeper customisation than ever before, but I also want more things to actually 'do' apart from traditional bug, fish and fossil hunts.

If the mini-games from New Leaf don't return then that'll def. be a mark against it in my book - especially since there's now 8-player online, and single switch 1-4 player support.

We know some of the side-islands are for foraging things and bringing them back to the central island, another is run by Harvey and lets you stage photo shoots with other characters, so hopefully there's one for activities / friends
