Re: Review: Xenoblade Chronicles 2 (Switch)

@BensonUii Nice to find someone else who thinks like me. I much prefer XCX's sci-fi leanings, and for all the crap the main story gets, large chunks of that games story were in the character quests or to be found on the quest board. A lot of people ignore that when bashing it, maybe because they never bothered to seek that stuff out.

Re: Soapbox: DOOM is the Most Important Switch Game Yet

Folkloner

@BLP_Software It doesn't make much sense either as far as porting history goes. Games have been ported to less technically impressive systems going back decades.

Doom is now available on an additional platform, and can be played portably on a dedicated gaming system. That's more choice for consumers and more potential revenue streams for developers and publishers. Can't naysayers see that.

Re: Reggie Fils-Aimé Targets an "Extra Nintendo Twist" for the Switch Online Service

Folkloner

Doing things differently only makes you more compelling Reggie when it offers something different but on par or better than the standard. When you ignore the standard and make something worse for the sake of being different [ e.g: voice chat on Switch ] then no. Please don't f-ck this up Nintendo, add your spin but ffs copy 'some' of what everyone else has been doing for the last decade. Sincerely, everyone.

Re: Sony Doesn't Consider Handheld Gaming To Be A "Huge Market Opportunity"

Folkloner

@LukeNI I disagree. No-one 'needs' an additional dock for one thing. You're also ignoring the fact that the Joy-Cons are technically two controllers in one, and pack a lot in to a tiny space, more than other controllers even since they include HD Rumble, IR Camera, improved motion controls etc.

The Vita proprietary memory card on the other hand is something a Vita user would likely 'need' and is extortionately priced in comparison.

Re: Feature: Exploring The "Switch Tax" And Why Nintendo Was Right to Use Game Cards

Folkloner

@Menchi187 It's almost like you didn't bother to read the article. Third-parties won't bother with compression, and neither they nor Nintendo are going to eat 32GB / 64GB cartridge production costs, because they're businesses.

It's just the nature of the Switch and the fact running disc media on it would've been an even worse decision.

Production costs on these cartridges will come down in time so this situation is only temporary.

Re: Editorial: Mandatory Memory Cards for Switch Retail Games is a Messy Solution

Folkloner

@Kalmaro I don't get it either. 2K is hardly a developer starved of resources trying to get games to work / fit as best they can. They could 'choose' to compress their games or learn how, but they don't bother. Cartridges could be 64gb, 100gb and it wouldn't matter, they'll take any cost saving measure and opt for the cheaper cart, not bother with compression and stiff the user.

For Nintendo's part, they simply can't win. If they made the above a rule, third-parties wouldn't bother, the Switch won't work with discs so they had to go with cartridges. Customers complained that the Switch even with 32gb of onboard memory cost too much, so to put in more was a risk they deemed not worth taking.

Re: Nintendo Download: 24th August (Europe)

This reads like it makes no sense. It reads as if the you'll be charged 'more' in the UK for owning a prior game in the series. Think you may have got the prices mixed up.

The Jackbox Party Pack (Jackbox Games, €16.79 / £15.19 if user owns at least one The Jackbox Party Pack game, previously €20.99 / £13.49)
