Whether you're ready or not, the holidays are right around the corner and as per usual, they're bringing a batch of new games to Switch. The battle royale take on everyone's favorite platforming plumber, Super Mario Bros. 35 is off to a great start, Nickelodeon is taking another spin at the kart racing genre with, Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2: Grand Prix, and Shigeru Miyamoto's favorite plant-based buddies make their long-awaited return in Pikmin 3 Deluxe.
However, we're surprised to see a somewhat lack of horror titles launching this month. Remothered: Broken Porcelain could do the trick for some with it's Clock Tower and Silent Hill themes. We suppose witnessing the food chain first hand in Pikmin could be enough to make anyone toss a blanket over their head and call it a day too. Regardless, there are plenty of titles on offer this month to make your backlog winge and complain.
Super Mario Bros. 35 - October 1st
Orangeblood - October 1st
WARSAW - October 1st
Ys Origin - October 1st
Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2: Grand Prix - October 6th
Falcon Age - October 8th
I Am Dead - October 8th
FIFA 21 Legacy Edition - October 9th
The Survivalists - October 9th
Prinny 1•2: Exploded and Reloaded - October 13th
Remothered: Broken Porcelain - October 13th
The Jackbox Party Pack 7 - October 15th
Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit - October 16th
Zoids Wild Blast Unleashed - October 16th
Cadence of Hyrule: Crypt of the NecroDancer Featuring The Legend of Zelda - October 23rd (Physical Edition)
Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield - The Crown Tundra DLC - October 22nd
Pikmin 3 Deluxe - October 23rd
If you could only play three new release from this month, which would you choose? Be sure to let us know down below!

Hey, you cheated! Half of them already released!
EDIT: Just did the math, it’s actually a bit less than a third that are already released. I promise I’m normally good at math!
"Exciting" new games....FIFA 21 Legacy Edition.
Guys come on! Where's Space Crew, Cook Serve Delicious 3, GoNNER 2, Transformers Battlegrounds, Carto or AVGN I + II Deluxe.
Gotta say, this is looking like a rough month. That's alright, though, more time to work through the backlog!
Getting Pikmin 3 and Cadence of Hyrule. Already got Super Mario 35 which is good for short bursts, but I don't see taking up a huge amount of time.
October and November are usually prime months for game releases in anticipation of Christmas. While there are some good games here, there’s really nothing mind blowing
Exciting new games - FIFA 19, sorry 20, sorry 21
Just Mario Kart and AVGN for me this month as I wait for PS5
I'm going to rebuy Pikmin 3. I've always wanted a portable pikmin game.
It also felt like the best game in the series as far as level design goes.
Ah, we're getting the rest of Pokémon Gun this month and a port of a game hardly anyone played. Not a bad month, imo. But some people here love looking at things in a glass half empty kind of way.
Got my Ys Origin pre-ordered and I can't wait for the physical release of Pokemon SS next month! I will get BOTH of them!
There are a few games that I'm pretty keen for releasing this month. None from this list though.
Prinny and Cadence pre-ordered and both paid for. Series X next month for me.
I can have fun with average kart racers. So, Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2 is tempting.
That's a really weak month. At least we have Hades to get us through it.
@baller98 I'm really hoping it turns out to be as good as it looks. Has a lot of potential.
I am looking forward to a Pikmin themed Tetris Maximus cup in T99!
REMOTHERED!!!!! And Zoids Wild, probably...
I need more info on DUSK - still not up on the eShop - that Jack/Pumpkin game NL put up today looks good, too
@Folkloner DUSK is coming, Postal, and Pumpkin Jack, too!
Yeah, but why did you include fifa on the list?
Looking forward to getting the Prinny package! The Disgaea series is a new favorite of mine so I'm hoping it'll be just as good
You forgot Ghost Runner coming out the 27th😉
It's all about Pikmin 3 for me! It was my favorite game on Wii U, so I'm 100% buying it on Switch.
Uhh doesn't Pikmin come out on the 30th?
2020 be like: I AM DEAD
I had no idea that Prinny existed. I love oddball games, so that has jumped to the top of my list.
Prinny, Pikmin 3 (even though I preferred no.2 & had it on the WiiU). Ys Origin and Mario 35. If you want 3, I remove Pikmin 3
Decent month for me.
Prinny
Ys Origin
Pokemon DLC
Pikmin
A good month to play out the backlog but I’m hooked on Mario 35
@baller98 I hadn't even heard of this, but it looks interesting! I'll check with the editors and see what our plan is.
@NovaCam
That's what I was thinking too, this is the first I've heard of it coming out the 23rd.
Am I the only one who pre ordered G.I.Joe Operation Blackout on 13th Oct?
Pikmin 3 Deluxe, Ys Origin, & Prinny 1&2 look like the creme of the crop here, though the Mario Kart thing looks like it could be fun too.
Still working my way through SM3DAS, so probably won't get any of them (not right away, anyhow).
Nothing I am going to buy right away, but I do eventually want to give Pikmin 3 a go — I have criminally avoided the franchise to-date. And while I don't want to spend the money for it, I would love it if a friend with kids got MKL: Home Circuit so I could give it a go.
@baller98 yeah I'm really looking forward to Ikenfell, that looks magic. Could be an absolute belter.
Ys and Pikmin are both excellent but 2 ports being the month's highlight is a shame. Can only guess how plans may have altered, but I'm not wanting, can't imagine anyone is so starved for games there's literally nothing to play.
Mario Kart is really exciting, the prospect of being able to set up a race course anywhere is really cool. But I live in America, so it won't be safe for me to go out and buy it until next year at the earliest.
Pokémon Sword/Shield + Expansion Pass
Glad to see that there'll be physical editions of these, of which I will grab both; it will be very expensive though as they cost the same as the standard edition plus the DLC. Either way, this is exactly what I wanted and I am not complaining. As long as any Pokémon DLC is eventually issued a cartridge release, then they can release all the damn DLC they please. I was this close to abandoning the main series games entirely, so I am glad to see that they have pulled through with physical releases.
Cadence of Hyrule
Held out for physical. Glad to see my instincts paying off yet again. If I like this enough, I'll grab the vanilla game from which this was based as well (which is getting its own physical release).
Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?
I'm a sucker for quiz games, and I miss the original Millionaire format. The Hot Seat format that has been airing in Australia for over 11 years now is an abomination. The Switch version also has hot seat couch multiplayer support for up to 10 players, which is awesome.
FIFA 21: Legacy Edition
I bought FIFA 18 and FIFA 19 Champion's Edition at launch, but like FIFA 20, I'll grab FIFA 21 after a significant drop in price (AU$30 or less being the sweet spot). EA are having a laugh charging nearly as much for the lazy Switch edition as they are for the other versions. It's still a great game (perhaps the best portable football game on the market), and I would heartily recommend it to those yet to pick up any previous instalments, but I'm disappointed in EA's complacency and their disregard for the Switch userbase. Can't achieve parity with the other platforms? That's fine! But give us something else! I believe the Wii versions got exclusive Mii modes and the like. Why are we always being short-changed? I would prefer Sega's Football Manager games, but unfortunately, they haven't issued physical releases for the Switch editions.
Pikmin 3 Deluxe
I think I'm finally going to bite and see what all the fuss is about even though I am not particularly interested in Pikmin. I have gifted my brother with Pikmin games in the past, but I have never played any previous entries myself. I do have Hey Pikmin though (which I am yet to play).
And if the price drops enough, I'll consider...
Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit
A brilliant, brilliant concept marred by the lack of cartridge. I absolutely loathe the idea of buying a game tied to physical toys that do not come with the complete game in tangible form. I passed on Starlink, but if it had included the full game on cartridge, I would have likely bought the game and all accessories that I could get my hands on. Perhaps it was for the best. I'd be willing to pay up to AU$50, but certainly not AU$150. If the novelty wears out quickly like it did for Labo, then I can see it becoming a reality, but if it becomes a wild multi-million selling success, then I can't see the price dropping at all.
It's a bit thin isn't it? Considering we are getting close to Christmas.
Or is it just me?
That is one sad list. This is why I really can not just have a Switch.
@Ewaldus Thanks for the heads up. It actually looks like a lot of fun (I just hope the gameplay is actually good).
Kind of reminds of Resident Evil 6 or the Spy Hunter reboot from from 2012 for Vita and 3DS (the "mood" of the game - at least in the trailer - obviously not the gameplay).
You save 15% if you preorder G.I.Joe BTW (but I think I'll wait for Nintendolife's review, to see if it's any good - graphically it looks great IMO).
Ok, I now see it's multiplayer. Not really me. Does anyone know if it can be played as a single player (with A.I. companions, if it has to be - it doesn't bother me too much as long as they don't steal the "thunder" to much).
Did you mean to say 17 crappy games? Lol, seriously, there’s not one good title here.
Is anybody actually excited for FIFA Legacy Edition? 😂
Personally I'm not interested in any of the games that are coming this month.(Except for Mario 35, it's really good)
I'm waiting for Hyrule Warriors, Monster Hunter, an maybe Mario 3D World (depending on how the expansion looks like) in the near future.
Then BoTW sequel in winter 2021 maybe.
I can’t stop playing Hades (and 13 Sentinels on PS4!), so I don’t even know when I’ll get to any of these October releases.
pikmin 3 is releasing on the 30th not the 23rd.
@Kiyata
Hey, what about the Mario games, Candance of Hyrule dlc (not a game, just a dlc) and Pikmin 3 Deluxe, that one may be a WiiU game, but it's really good.
There are some crappy games on the list, ngl. But there are some good games too!
The only one of these I'm playing is Mario 35. Taking October off from buying anything, I have more than enough to keep myself occupied with Mario 3D All-Stars, Fire Emblem 3, and DKC2.
So ready for the Pokemon DLC! Pikmin is good but I will probably wait on it. Survivalists sounds interesting, but I need to know more.
"Eh, I have a huge backlog to go through anyway..."
You all do realize that eventually your backlog will eventually be gone one day and then you will bemoan at Nintendo for not releasing anything new...
Super Mario Bros 35
Pikmin 3 Deluxe
The Survivalists looks interesting, but I will need to know more about it before buying it.
Backlog time!!!!
As i said in the news about the new Mario Kart Live commercial, i'm very interested in that game, but the lack of splitscreen multiplayer is really difficult to swallow for me.
Should i buy it at launch and just hope for an update that might never happen, or should i wait and miss out on something that i would probably also enjoy as a single player experience? (I like Mario Kart Grand Prix modes)
I always wanted to play a Ys game and Orangeblood looks interesting, too, but it's always the same with RPGs, i make slow progress, then i get distracted by work/vacations/other games, and in the end i don't finish them.
So...my backlog is thrilled because Im going to have to play my backlog? Because these titles are sarcastically thrilling?
No 9th dawn 3 on the list but they put a nickelodeon race game? lol
@Agramonte What's sad is that you apparently believe that your interests are some sort of litmus test for worth. They're not.
Unless it's been delayed, still got my eye on Hardcore Mecha this month.
orangeblood looks cool.
The only interresting game for me is a game i already bought on Wii U. Pikmin 3..
Wii U version also supports stylus unlike Switch version.
I'm buying GI Joe. It will probably be crap, but it looks awesome to this old guy. Maybe the Transformers game too. I liked the one like this on 3DS. We shall see. Ghost Runner Im grabbing through Steam. So yeah. Most likely just those, unless that pumpkin game reviews well.
Ys Origin, Pokemon DLC Tundra and Pikmin 3. And gonna buy and play them all 3, backlog be damned 😝
FIFA? Exciting? Is it April 1st already?
Focusing on backlog this month but might play the Wii U version of Pikmin 3. Already have YS Origin on PS4 otherwise would have went for it.
When the banner image is of DLC and not a new game, you know the month is going to be pretty unexciting.
Getting Prinny, mad rat dead, GI joe, Pikmin, already bought ys origin, I may get the transformers game since it is a strategy game.
Still a broke month for me i see.
@JimmySpades It is to me... That is how I do not end up bored and $60 in the hole.
None of that looks "exciting."
Pikmin 3 Deluxe (though it'll have to wait until Nov. 6th) and Pokemon Shield DLC.
