Re: Future Business Shift Could See Nintendo Move Away From Home Console Development

FireMario887

No. Please no. Well, okay, depending just how far in the future that is. As smart phones are now, just no- Please no. But in the future, if phones are buff and jam-packed with storage, then maybe just maybe. Imagine if they made, uh, "joy-cons" that slide onto the sides of the phone and they would Bluetooth controlled or connected somehow. But for now, let's maintain the console games please.

Re: Guide: Spirits in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Explained

FireMario887

Thanks for the info and really boiling it down. I have the unfortunate flaw of tightening myself into the most compact pod possible in a corner whenever something complex presents itself, such as this Spirits mode, but this explanation helped, thank you for that. Honestly, I'm just happy that these Spirits seem to have spurred on another adventure/story mode.

Sonic trying to save Pikachu, oh the feels...

Re: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Direct Announced For 1st November

FireMario887

This just brightened my day. Thanks for the update. Fingers crossed for Shadow the Hedgehog and a story mode.

People are going to say to the person that leaked the potential banner after watching the Direct, "I found you, faker!" I haven't played SA2, please don't chuck a Chaos spear into me.

Re: Soapbox: Why Do We Want More Games When We've Already Got Too Many?

FireMario887

Hey, awesome article. It illuminates on an issue that has certainly been lurking amongst the gaming community, but has never been recognized as an issue until much recently. I myself have been guilty of endless hunger for more games and I saw a few exceptional comments that mentioned more excitement and interest surrounding the news and hype of video game releases than actually taking the time to enjoy the video game experiences out already. The growing desire for consumerism and excitement over media appears to have come to the sacrifice of the creativity and engagement people have with the actual games themselves. I myself have been forced into a state of contentment with the Switch games I have due to money constraints. As a result of this forced state of contentment, I'm starting to grow in my appreciation for what the developers have managed to provide us with in their masterpieces of gaming fun. I'm still discovering little things in open-ended adventures, such as Mario Odyssey and and Zelda: BOTW. I have refined my skills in Sonic Mania to rocket through levels to achieve the levels of rollercoaster joyride thrills that the recent "3D" interactive movies shoved excessive automation into. My copy of Splatoon 2 has been collecting dust, so perhaps it is time I actually take the time to understand and mechanics and utilize them to my enjoyment. Honestly, folks, I encourage you to get the most enjoyment as you can squeeze out of the titles you have. And that doesn't mean you have to force yourself into performing tasks in certain games that will drive you to pieces due to boredom or frustration (looking at you Bound Bowl Racing and a few pesky Korok seeds). If 100% some of these games isn't your style, than that's ok. Take the time to escape your responsibilities and stresses and immerse yourself into the enjoyable experiences that your video games are there for. Video games shouldn't be there for the sake of making more of profit, collection, what have you. They are there for fun and enjoyment and that's what I hope people are able to get out of video games to the fullest.

Re: Anniversary: Retro Studios Celebrates 20 Years In Gaming

FireMario887

Happy birthday Retro! Thanks for practically defining my childhood of treasured video game experiences. The Prime Trilogy is unlike anything I've ever experienced. The level of dedication on the developers' part to ensure that the trilogy as a whole is immersive and engaging. Donkey Kong Country Returns too. My gratitude is as near as infinity as my feeble, brittle (screw you high school) brain can process for Retro actually willing to make a challenging and unforgiving, but ridiculously fun platforming challenge. Have yet to get my hands on Tropical Freeze. One of these days... Anyway, Retro is responsible for shaping some of my most memorable gaming experiences and I owe them my endless thanks.

Re: STAY - An Intriguing Concept That Might Just Outstay Its Welcome

FireMario887

I typically prefer to refrain from games that demand my regular dedication, but boy does this sound fascinating and rather eerie... Imagine playing a Mario game where dedication is a necessity, stay away from the game for too long and Bowser will--Ooooooooooookay nevermind, that would likely be a little too much information. I'll do you one better, a long gap between play sessions of a Sonic game and by the time you return, Robotnik has turn the world into a mechanical dystopia, Silver would come in and blame Sonic for the catastrophe, and Sonic 06 would reiterate itself all over again.

.....What game is this again?

Re: Soapbox: Why I'm Not Excited About Playing NES Games On The Nintendo Switch

FireMario887

Dude, the extensiveness of my agreement acknowledges no boundaries. The overused nostalgic factor of the NES games and reiterating it for every generation to the expense of other generetations of treasured... Uh, treasures of video game titles. I suppose it's a method of preservation, but there is also a history that other, younger players hold close to their heartstrings and other cardiovascular organs. I for example, grew up with the late GameCube and early Wii era, so the titles of that time have memories of enjoyment and childhood delight that cannot be surmounted. There is more to the the classic days of Nintendo than simply the beginning. If we'll have to make do without a virtual console, then so be it. Make the titles of later consoles available for us to experience again.

Like, uh, the GameCube, please? What I wouldn't give to play games like Mario Sunshine or Metroid Prime once again. Oh and uh, perhaps experience Sonic's more formative 3D years (Adventure games and Heroes) for the first time.

Re: Video: Five Features Included With The Nintendo Switch Online Membership

FireMario887

With more knowledge on the matter, Nintendo Online doesn't seem as bad as I originally considered to be. Sure it isn't like fantastic, but it's passable at least.

No, my sole issue lies with what Nintendo considers nostalgic to us. I am absolutely exhausted with the overdid to death emphasis on remembering the good ole days of the NES. Even on the other end of the spectrum, games that were released far too recently are getting HD bumps and Switch Deluxe ports or whatever. Ok, now I'm wandering into selfish and ranting territory, but the core of my nostalgia resides with GameCube and early era Wii games. I'm concerned that delivering these titles whether it be through some online service, a virtual console shop, or what have you is either in the distaaaaaaaaaant future or won't be a thing at all. Ugh, sorry for the negativity. It's been a day.

Re: Guide: Everything Announced In Yesterday's Nintendo Direct

FireMario887

I'll be honest with you folks, I never tried my hand at any of the major franchises with new titles mentioned. Luigi's Mansion, Yoshi, Animal Crossing. From what I've seen from footage or what little experience I do have, never appealed to me all that much. Well, that was in the past. Moreover, allow me to provide another piece of honesty. I am sick and tired of Mario and Zelda after repeated playthroughs and I just need something new. Yoshi's Crafted World in particular fascinated me with its gorgeous art direction and with it being a platformer. I'm not going to deny my admittedly biased adoration for platforming games, but I honestly can't wait for it.

Oh! But my enthusiasm reaches its logical maximum for one title in particular.................................... Team Sonic Racing

Re: Animal Crossing's Isabelle Joins The Fight In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

FireMario887

I haven't played an Animal Crossing game myself and I don't know if I'll find appeal in the games-- Then again, I'm rather uninformed on them... Could be a rather delightful remedy to my significant case anxiety... Anyway! My heart literally sunk for those that have experienced and enjoyed Animal Crossing when Nintendo trolled with the new Smasher, but then I breathed a (stuffy... Stupid cold) sigh of relief when a rather cryptic announcement presented itself right after.

Re: Super Mario Party On Switch Won't Include Pro Controller Support

FireMario887

I'm not opposed to making an innovative attempt to cleverly integrate motion/gyro controls. It is entertaining to try and experiment with the immersive controls, but I for one have a preference for traditional use of buttons. The fact that usage of more traditional controls isn't an option is a little disconcerting. Still, thinking about giving this game a shot. Unfortunately, all of my childhood memories of Mario Party reside in the wrong place (MP 8); I'm certain that this will be an improvement though.

Re: Shigeru Miyamoto Urges Game Developers To Embrace Subscription-Based Services

FireMario887

I'm relatively naive to this subscription issue and how it could affect the gaming industry on the whole, but I'll make my best effort to consolidate an opinion based on what I do understand. So apparently this subscription based service means that companies will have more control over how video games are distributed? They will control what we will be able to play and when we will be able to play it? From what I am reading in the other comments (Thanks you guys for illuminating on the issue, btw), these game companies will have greater dictation on the purchases I make and how I utilize the products? This is rather infuriating... Once I have purchased a video game, I want to consider it my property and well... Mine. I want to take as much time as I desire getting invested into the video game and play at my own pace and leisure. I want to utilize my product to my desire. I thought the whole purpose for video games is to provide an interactive media for players to immerse themselves into and allow the player to invest themselves in these memorable, fictional worlds in any way they see fit. This business approach is seriously going to derive these games of the grandeur and impact they can have. Reducing games to merely streamed, disposable products is going to obliterate the sense of adventure and wonder these virtual worlds can provide players. All of this for marketing. Business. Money. I want freedom over the products that I by thus when they are in my ownership, I want to utilize those products however I want. I'm ok with a digital market, but that doesn't have to come to the sacrifice of player's autonomy (I think that's the word) with their video games.

Edit: Change the obligatory Sonic joke. It's more like Robotnik hijacking Sonic's sneakers to make them become remote controlled and Robotnik forcing Sonic to obtain every Chaos Emerald, bring them back to him, and then cause them to scatter, forcing Sonic to search the long distances again for the Special Zone entrances. Rinse and repeat this process

Re: Video: Here's A Graphical Comparison Of Every Returning Stage In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

FireMario887

I got partway through it. I'm relatively busy today, so I don't have time to finish the video at the moment. A lovely effort so far. I typically prefer more realistic and detailed visuals and that does appear to be present for the most part in this game. Still, as has always been the case, sustaining good performance is paramount and if that comes to the sacrifice of some of the stages' visual splendor and details, than that's cool.

As long as they you know... Try to make flipping Windy Valley more detailed and interesting than its generic nature. Thinking that Windy Valley would be properly representative of Sonic... Pfft! Whatever happened to Emerald Hill?

Re: Did Luigi's 'Death' In Smash Bros. Ultimate Secretly Hint At A New Single-Player Campaign?

FireMario887

With respect to those speculating, I will state my honest opinion and say that I always thought those character deaths in those (truly phenemonal) CGI scenes were present to highlight the severity of the villains' powers and make their arrival to the game all the more bombastic. I'm banking on the whole deal with the Monster Hunter creature and the environment in which you battle it being the most tangible evidence for a potential story mode.

Re: Guide: The Best Metroid Games - Every Metroid Game Ranked

FireMario887

From my subjective perspective, yes Prime is the best. The third dimension is what I grew up playing video games in so thus, Prime is that ever so slightly more enjoyable experience because of it. I'm typically more oriented towards dynamic, intense action games, but this series has managed to impress with truly gorgeous, atmospheric worlds and fun power ups which can be applied in puzzles solving and combat in incredible ways. Metroid Prime featured while slightly generic, enthralling and beautiful worlds. The translation of the items into the third dimension was also really neat.

Anyway, eff' Other M. It isn't at all relevant to the storyline of the series and will never be. Well, ok, the action and combat could be entertaining, but otherwise, I'd gladly take a grinder and turn a bunch of Other M discs into Metroid chow.

Re: Ben Schwartz Reveals He Will Voice Sonic The Hedgehog In Upcoming Movie

FireMario887

I didn't realize he voiced the plethora of cartoon characters from my childhood! That's pretty cool. Still... My perspective on him voicing Sonic is tainted by Jean-Ralphio... No, I'm not implying a bad performance, in fact it was very good, hilarious acting but Jean-Ralphio and the Saperstines in general.... Such evil folk... I shiver at the thought of their malicious acts... Uh, Parks and Recreation for the uninformed. Since my opinion has been tainted by Jean-Ralphio, I'm cautiously excited for his performance of Sonic.

Anyway... Roger > The guy who voiced Sonic before Sonic Colors. Just my opinion anyway

Re: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Will Feature A Single-Player Classic Mode

FireMario887

I can't outright proclaim that "THAT ISN'T ENOUGH", because of just how much Sakurai (please excuse my horrible spelling) has poured into this gargantuan masterpiece of a video game. The question is, what has the man not given us?

Honesty is a policy I can't afford to twist though, my desire for a single player story mode stretches far beyond the outer limits of Subspace itself.

And even if a story mode doesn't make a presence, Classic Mode will suffice enough as an engaging single player campaign for me, even if I will be dissapointed. Here's to hoping though.

Re: Gallery: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Full Character Roster (Updated)

FireMario887

These character designs are genuinely impressive. I can't help but admire the degree of details and realism incorporated into the majority of the characters. Like Mario for example, looking really closely at his shoes, you can see the leather to its most intricate details. Dark Samus in particular looks sick, a modern and high definition realization of the destructively Phazon addicted Metroid Prime herself.

Anyway... I'll leave on the note....
Now I'll show you! Haaaaaaaaah!
