Sonic is a cool hedgehog with plenty of attitude. Over the years, he’s become known for being a bit of a radical, with his edgy-sounding voice. Yesterday we heard Jim Carrey would star in the live-action hybrid as Dr. Robotnik and now actor and comedian Ben Schwartz, has acknowledged an article by Variety, confirming himself as the voice of Sonic in the upcoming film:

Previously announced cast members include WestWorld and Hop’s James Marsden along with Tika Sumpter who has featured in the likes of Gossip Girl and Law & Order.

Schwartz has voiced Dewey Duck on Disney Channel’s reboot of Duck Tales and is also voicing Leonardo in Nickelodeon’s Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. He’s also done voice work for the video game Turbo: Super Stunt Squad, and appeared in the television series, Parks and Recreation.

The Sonic The Hedgehog movie by Paramount Pictures is due out at some point next year.

What do you think about this casting choice for the voice of Sonic? Have you seen any of Schwartz’s work? Tell us below.
