Sonic is a cool hedgehog with plenty of attitude. Over the years, he’s become known for being a bit of a radical, with his edgy-sounding voice. Yesterday we heard Jim Carrey would star in the live-action hybrid as Dr. Robotnik and now actor and comedian Ben Schwartz, has acknowledged an article by Variety, confirming himself as the voice of Sonic in the upcoming film:
Previously announced cast members include WestWorld and Hop’s James Marsden along with Tika Sumpter who has featured in the likes of Gossip Girl and Law & Order.
Schwartz has voiced Dewey Duck on Disney Channel’s reboot of Duck Tales and is also voicing Leonardo in Nickelodeon’s Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. He’s also done voice work for the video game Turbo: Super Stunt Squad, and appeared in the television series, Parks and Recreation.
The Sonic The Hedgehog movie by Paramount Pictures is due out at some point next year.
What do you think about this casting choice for the voice of Sonic? Have you seen any of Schwartz’s work? Tell us below.

Dewey, Leonardo, Sonic... This guy has reasons to feel blue.
@BladedKnight Roger is awful though.
@BladedKnight
They probably just wanted somone better known, so it looks better on the credits. This film doesn't seem to be aimed directly at "true" Sonic fans.
Use the Schwartz.
Never heard of him
That's weird, I was guessing they'd get another big name but it's just a voice actor? If that's the case you'd think they'd stick with Roger.
I'd prefer Jaleel White the original Sonic.
Wow GOTTA GO FAST! This guy knows his sonic stuff!
The only voice for Sonic is Jason Griffith, his voice evolved with the series and it worked incredibly well. And let's face it he did the best lines.
But not knowing how this might turn out it's probably for the best to use a new voice.
Ryan Drummond and Jaleel White are the only voice actors for Sonic that ever mattered, if it ain’t either of them, I don’t want it. 🙅🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️
Jean-Ralphio!
So, where Sonic has had the same voice since Sonic Adventure, his English voice has since changed once again for about the fourth time, is it? I'm not impressed by his ever changing English voice.
@Ooyah Wouldn't true Sonic fans just be excited for a movie with Sonic in it?
I listened to his voice work and I think he'll have no issue pulling it off. All I can say is the talent seems to be in place. The movie just needs to be competent and we're good to go.
@Haywired Anyone familiar with the character would see this as a bit of inspired casting. I mean, Sonic isn't as obnoxious as Jean-Ralphio. But Ben Schwartz clearly does it well. So this should be fun
This is the single fact that sold me on this movie.
I don’t care how much of a train wreck it is, I’m going to see it to hear Ben Schwartz as Sonic the Hedgehog.
Well, at least it's not Roger Craig-Smith.
BB8!!
He loves blue iconic 90s iconic characters. Umm...how many are there exactly? Does this mean he'll someday voice Sailor Mercury?
I didn't realize he voiced the plethora of cartoon characters from my childhood! That's pretty cool. Still... My perspective on him voicing Sonic is tainted by Jean-Ralphio... No, I'm not implying a bad performance, in fact it was very good, hilarious acting but Jean-Ralphio and the Saperstines in general.... Such evil folk... I shiver at the thought of their malicious acts... Uh, Parks and Recreation for the uninformed. Since my opinion has been tainted by Jean-Ralphio, I'm cautiously excited for his performance of Sonic.
Anyway... Roger > The guy who voiced Sonic before Sonic Colors. Just my opinion anyway
Woody Woodpecker the movie but Woody is replaced with Sonic and it's still a steaming pile of garbage

@Piscean64 Oh yeah. Forgot about the Tick.
It will still always be Drummond to me. I am used to RCS because of the length of time he has done it, but Drummond voiced it where it matters for me.
@ZeldaToThePast As seen in Spaceballs 2: The Search for More Money.
@Tempestryke There's also Broadway from "Gargoyles" and Bob from "Reboot," but I would never want to see the former series remade while any official continuation or spin-off should keep the original voice actors (especially Keith David), while the remake of sorts (or reboot ) that we did get of the latter series is awful.
@BulbasaurusRex
I loved Gargoyles. I don't think I'd wanna see it rebooted either. Its one of those rare shows that can't be replicated.
I was not particularly fond of reboot.
Oh there's Captain Planet too.
Ryan Drummond.
That is all.
